Francy's p.o.v

"Please come back again." I smiled at my customers passing them the bread.

"You're getting good at this." Tim told me as he charged the next customer.

"Thank you." I smiled and took the paper the customer held. It said whole grain bread. "Just a moment please."

I packed the wonderful warm bread and passed it to the customer on the counter. " Please come back again."

As the morning rush passed Remi and I waited for the next batch of bagels to come out of the kitchen.

Tim gave us two tall glasses of water.

"Thank you." I took the glass and gulped the water down. Even with the air conditioning, I was still feeling the heat from outside.

"You guys are really helping us out. I barely got any breaks last year." Tim explained.

"I'm glad we're actually helping considering we haven't worked before," I said.

"For first-timers you guys are going great."

The bell hanging on top of the door rang as the door opened and the next customer came in.

"Welc...." Tim choked on his words before he got to finish that sentence.

"Sole!" I grinned ear to ear when I saw her.

"Heey." Remi leaned over the counter so she could see Sole.

She smiled at us. "How are you?"

"Oh just working. I mean... great." Remi smiled awkwardly upon stumbling on her answer.

"What can we get you?"I tried to hold in my laugh at Remi.

"Mmm two baguettes and one sour cherry galette." She pulled out her wallet, took some money out and handed it to Tim.

"Tim.." I nudged him. He was staring at her completely out of it.

"Right away." I smiled at her and nudged Tim with my elbow this time.

Somehow he took the money and took out the receipt.

I packed the two baguettes and Remi packed the galette. I handed them to her.

"Come again." Remi and I both waved her off.

"Thank you." She smiled and walked out.

"Well thanks for nothing Tim." Remi sighed disappointed and then hit her lips. "Ugh..I can't believe I answer to "how are you" with "just working"." She tapped her lips again. "Think before you speak Remi."

"I think it went well." I smiled.

Remi waved her hand. "Whatever, she understands. "

"You um.. You know Sole?" Tim finally broke his silence.

"Yep. We met her on Friday." I answered.

"And you didn't think to tell me this?" He asked, still in shock.

I pressed my lips in hesitation.

I told Sole where we worked and that I wanted her to come by, technically to see Tim too, but considering she barely spared Tim a look, I took it as she wasn't interested.

But nevertheless, we could try again. You never know until they talk.

"I'll introduce you next time." I told him. "You know.. It needs to look more spontaneous."

"Right.right." He cleared his throat.. "Um.. let me go check on those bagels.."

As he left for the kitchen Remi and I chuckled. Even guys had it tough when it comes to love.

***

After work Remi and I went straight to the flower shop street. On today's schedule, we had to take photos for the journal and our progress and we thought of an aesthetic theme where the whole kitchen is with flowers and we do flower arrangements.

Remi and I walked from one stall to another filling our bike baskets with flowers.

The second lady where we bought flowers from gave us mini umbrellas to put over our baskets so the flowers don't wane in the sun.

From pink daisies, blue and purple hydrangeas, white yarrows, to petunias, bright red carnations and orange dahlias were being sold in the flower shops.

Remi and I chose what caught our eyes and then looked around for nice vases to put them in.

"Hello again."

We turned around to see Sole holding a newspaper-wrapped bouquet of peonies.

"Hey." I smiled and took a look at the flowers. They were a little lifeless. "Oh no, your flowers waned."

She looked down at them. "No, I got them like this."

"Why?" Remi asked intrigued.

"I paint with them." She answered. "The shop owners give their flowers to me instead of throwing them out and I make art with them."

"That sounds interesting," I said.

"What do you buy flowers for?" She asked, looking at our full baskets.

"It's for the house project." I told her. "We're going to take pictures with them. Remi is going to do flower arrangements."

Remi nodded.

"That sounds interesting. Have you done it before?"

Remi shook her head. "No..I like succulents more, and can make mini gardens made with them. I'm an expert with those. These kinds of flowers, no.. but I think I'll be a natural. It's worth a try."

"Hope you end up killing them." Sole said.

Remi laughed and then saw that Sole was serious.

"If you do, give me a call. I'll take them." Sole smiled.

I covered my lips wanting to laugh. I couldn't tell if she was being serious or that was her attempt at a joke.

I suddenly remembered what Remi and I talked about. I gave Remi a look and she instantly understood.

Remi cleared her throat. "Hey, Sole.. Do you think you can spare some time for us. We want your opinion on the house project journal."

Sole gave her a nod. "Sure. Should we meet tomorrow and you can show it to me? I can take you guys to the beach if you want too."

Remi and I looked at each other excited. "YES."

"Absolutely yes." I said.

"Of course!" Remi smiled.

"Perfect." Sole bought out her phone and put our numbers down.

"Let's meet tomorrow around 9." She said,

"We have work until 9, so make it 10." I told her. "We have to deliver medicine."

She nodded. "Okay. Let's meet in front of your bakery around 10." She put her phone back in her pocket. "See you tomorrow."

"See ya."

The moment she was gone Remi hit my shoulder. "We did it."

I turned towards her with a grin. "We did it."

**

The flowers were all over the kitchen. Roses in the sink, carnations on the ground, dahlias on the counter next to my half drank ice tea until a petal went into it.

After taking the last pictures, Remi and I slowly started clearing the kitchen. Sweeping the floors, putting the remaining flowers in the vases and making sure everything was back in its place.

We weren't big on cleaning today, but with music in the background and full windows open letting in the summer air in, we were step by step cleaning.

"Should we bring up Tim as a topic tomorrow when we meet Sole?" I asked Remi.

She stood there thinking for a second before throwing what she swept in the trash. "I don't think so."

"Why not?" I asked.

"She seems like a wild horse you know. Those who run free in the wild with their perfect mane, destined to follow the wind and never have an owner."

"How poetic." I chuckled. "But I get it. She does seem like that. Tim seems too much of a serious town boy for her."

"Exactly my point." Remi leaned the broom on the counter and took a seat. "Don't get me wrong, Tim is a great guy, but I don't think they're a good match. We don't even know what kind of people she likes. Maybe she doesn't like guys at all."

"Then we ask her." I leaned on the counter. "We can ask what her type and then see if we should push with this or not. "

"Yes." Remi smiled. "That way we'll be fair towards Tim and Sole."

"Deal."
