Chapter 15

Francy's p.o.v

The other room was a pink floral pattern that was equally as um.. Kitsch.

"I can see why no one comes here." Remi wiped tears from the corner of her eyes from laughing good five minutes upon entering this room.

"I wonder if some people still like this type of style." The thought went through my head.

Remi waved her hand. "Let's see the bathroom and start taking pictures."

Once we opened the bathroom we both burst out laughing. Oh god.

"I don't even know where to start," I said looking around the bathroom. The rug covering half the bathroom was old, everything was worn out, the paint peeling off, the curtain ripped out here and there, the mirror half-cracked at the corner.

"This is going to make a great before and after picture" Remi shook her head. "Wow just wow."

"Maybe we should split up the work," I suggested.

"I agree. Let's also work out priorities first. We need the bedrooms for sleeping so let's at least clean one. We'll come up with a decorating plan tomorrow. We'll pull up some pictures and agree on the styles for each room." Remi said.

"Sure. Let's also clean this bathroom upstairs so we can shower later. The one downstairs can wait."

Remi gave me a nod. "Oh.. Also let's clean the tables so we can place our stuff there."

"Got it."

We got back downstairs and grabbed the cameras to take a picture of everything. Once we were done we got to cleaning.

We quickly swept and mopped the floors in the living room and dining room including wiping the tabletops.

Then we took out laptops, tablets, notebooks and everything we brought, on the table and started making plans.

"I'll clean the kitchen first." Remi said. "I want to make sure the fridge is ready for food and the cupboards are clean. There is also tableware.." She started numbering.

"Okay you do the kitchen. I'll focus on the bathroom upstairs. I don't like cleaning the kitchen anyways."

"Ooo while we're at it. Why don't we all take one room and decorate it ourselves? Like you could do the bathroom and I'll do the kitchen. That way we can put our aesthetic styles into it."

"I like it." I smiled. "We can even split the bedrooms. You do one and I'll do the other. But we should still agree on the theme so we don't go too far off. "

Remi nodded. "Deal. I'm definitely going to take the one where we'll sleep because it needs work and I got a bit inspired by that yellow hue."

"Ugh. Go ahead. I'll take the other room. But since that one is bigger you should do the balcony." I wrote it all down.

"Okay."

And so we both agreed on our tasks.

After putting on old clothes I didn't mind getting dirty, I pulled out the garbage cans we brought and headed upstairs.

Going through everything in the bathroom cupboard I realized there wasn't much to keep. I threw out everything old and unusable including the shower curtains, the towels, old pajamas and empty bottles.

I put on the gloves and then applied the cleaning products on the floor walls sink and every nook and cranny I could think of.

I scrubbed and scrubbed until I started to see the witness flashing on the tiles. The walls needed a repaint coat for sure. Even these tiles needed bleach. I wonder If I should just repaint everything in white.

I waited a few minutes and then turned on the showerhead showering everything and everywhere.

The sun was getting lower and lower. It was probably around five pm because it went directly through the window.

We probably had three to four more hours and then it would get dark. I took a clean cloth and tiptoed to try to clean the window in the bathroom. I looked outside for a moment..

I remained breathless.

The sun directly fell over the field of yellow flowers extending to our house. It was the nothingness that got me. The long spreading fields and the peaceful atmosphere. There wasn't any noise at all. Only the summer breeze entering through the window.

Then I saw it. The sunrays sparkled over the glass greenhouse hidden from our eyes.

My stomach did a flip when I saw the glass garden.

"Remii!" I yelled.

I left the rug and ran downstairs.

I entered the kitchen to find Remi. She was on top of the counter wiping the inside of the cabinets.

The kitchen was the one with the least aesthetics. It was bleak and empty.

After flooding that happened, dad had renovated the kitchen in the least attentive way possible just to keep it functional but this kitchen needs love and care.

And I was sure Remi was going to come up with great ideas for it.

"Girl you got to come to see the greenhouse." I told Remi.

"The greenhouse. Oh right...but didn't your dad.."

"Just come on.." I beckoned her.

She jumped off the counter and followed me.

I unlocked the veranda door and through the garden's thick overgrown grass we managed to reach it.

It was old, forgotten and sad, but it had still stayed there with the hope that one day it would be a beautiful greenhouse again. It had a small entrance but from what I could see it spread long and there was probably lots of room for decor.

Remi slapped my hand without breaking eye contact with the greenhouse. She was mesmerized by it.

"Francy.." She hit me again.

"Ouch..." I rubbed my arm. "What?"

"We have to get our hands on this greenhouse." She took a deep breath and finally faced me. "I don't care how but we have to find someone to help us do this. It's a huge aesthetic thing."

"I know. I was thinking the same thing. Add a greenhouse to the project. We will win for sure."

"Can we afford it?" Remi asked.

"Well.." I thought about it. "We do work so.. Ooh, we can ask Kai to redo our budget to fit this in.But you should ask him. "

"Why me?" Remi asked.

I tapped her shoulder. "You can be so daft my friend. It is you who can make Kai do something for free. Otherwise we'd have to pay him."

"I don't think Kai is like that."

I guess love was blind, deaf and stupid.

I placed my hands on my hips." My biggest worry is time though. Can we get this done on time?"

Remi looked up at the setting sun. "Well day one is almost over and we still haven't even done half of the cleaning. But I'm not worried. We can do this." She suddenly slapped her leg. "Let's go inside before these mosquitoes get me."

Considering the huge grass we were in, and all kinds of bugs were crawling... yeah good idea.
