Chapter 9
Brock
Wow, it's kind of hard to believe that my old friend, Ash, is a Pokémon Guardian. As we walked through the halls of Prism Tower, I still stare at him.
He looked much older. His black raven hair had grown up to his shoulders, and he still wears the Kalos Region clothes that he worn when he arrived back to Pallet Town.
Bonnie knew that I was still adjusting it. She said, "Brock, you all right? You seemed quiet since you discovered Ash was alive."
"Uh, how you felt when you find out that Ash was a Guardian?" I asked the young Pokémon Trainer.
She replied, "Well, I was shocked when Arceus revealed his identity, and Ash made me not to tell anyone, about him being the Pokémon Guardian, especially..."
Serena. Wow, I don't know how Ash will be able to keep his identity a secret from her.
As I was about to reply, Ash said, "Look, what's done is done. I know that we can't change what happened five years ago. I'm so sorry that I left you guys with dealing with Lysandre alone."
"Ash... You really don't have to do this alone." I said, trying to reason with him.
Ash
Ever since Brock knew me during the whole time we spent together in my Pokémon Journeys together, he always been there at my side, no matter what dangers it could be.
Bonnie is like my little sister I never had, she always supports my decisions, no matter how crazy stunts I pulled ourselves into.
"Ash... You really don't have to do this alone." Brock said, trying to reason with me.
I looked at Lucario and Pikachu for help.
Lucario said, "You know, Ash, they might have a point there. I know that you don't want anyone to know about your Pokémon Guardian responsibilities, and not putting them in harm's way, but this might be your only chance to ever see them again, including Serena."
I said, " Lucario, it's a big risk. I don't want to reveal it yet. For now, let's find my brother and leave."
We went up to the tower, and I remembered the first day I've arrived in Kalos. It also reminded me of when we find out that Squishy, is actually the Legendary Pokémon, Zygarde.
"This place.. it brought me back." I said.
Bonnie said, "Yeah, it's not entirely fun, wasn't it? Still I'm glad that we defeated Lysandre and his Team Flare members, but it still makes me curious about something."
Brock asks, "And what could that be, Bonnie?"
"How did Lysandre come back in the first place? I mean, Squishy kind of destroyed him."
I said, "I don't know. Lysandre is a liar. He really doesn't care about Pokémon or the trainers."
Someone said, "Huh, funny you should say that, Ketchum."
I turned to see Lysandre and the one standing next to him was my own brother!
"Red!" I yelled.
Bonnie
Great... this is going to be serious trouble.
Ash yelled, "Red!" As he tries to go to his brother, Red unleashes his own Charizard and blew Flamethrower at him, causing him to go backwards.
Brock asks, "You ok, Ash?" He helps the Guardian up, as he said, "Yeah, I'm fine."
I turned to Squishy, "Squishy, what's wrong with Red? It's like he doesn't recognize Ash."
"I don't know, Bonnie. But remember, it's still Red. Lysandre must've done something to him." He replies back to me.
Ash stands up and said, "What you done to my brother, Lysandre?!?"
"Oh, let's just say that it's a payback." The Team Flare Leader replies evilly.
Ash grew irate as he was about to unleash an Aura Sphere, I said, "Ash, don't! Let me battle Red and Lysandre while you and Brock get back to the base."
"Bonnie, no! You can't battle!" Ash said, trying to stop me from battling.
"It's the only way that you'll be able to rescue all of Pokémon world, that's your job, isn't?" I smirk.
He sighs as if trying to stop me wasn't worth it. "Just be careful, will you? Clement would kill me if anything happens to you."
I said, "Go!"
Ash and Brock leave as I stood my ground. "Dedenne, I choose you!" I said.
The little electric type Pokémon got out of my bag and was in battle mode.
Brock
As Ash and I run, I asked, "Do you think Bonnie will handle Red and Lysandre all by herself?"
"Bonnie is a Trainer now. I think that she has her own battling style. I'm sure she'll be fine. I think my motto is still with her."
"Your motto?" I asked, curiously and confused.
" 'Don't give up until the end.' " Ash said, smiling.
I didn't know that Ash even has a motto.
We ran back to the base, where Serena and the others were stunned to see us.
"Where you been?" Clement asks us.
I said, "Uh, we were..."
But Ash said, "Forget it, Brock! It's my fault that we're in this mess!"
"Satoshi... it's not your fault." Gary said, trying to make him feel better, but I know Ash.
"Satoshi, are you sure about this? I mean this could change everything!" I ask.
"My name's not really Satoshi." He began.
Everyone looks at the Guardian curiously.
Ash
Arceus is right, and so was Bonnie. I can't do everything by myself. I need everyone's help if I'm going to use my Guardian powers.
"My name's not really Satoshi." I began to say.
Everyone looks at me. "What you mean?" Clement asks.
"Clement, I knew you were a Gym Leader in the Prism Tower. You helped me so much during my Journey in Kalos. Even though I lost, you always support me."
"Gary, you knew me through all my journeys. You weren't just became my rival, but also my friend."
"Serena... it was when I left ... I realize I love you."
It took Serena the courage to come forward. She stares into my hazel brown eyes and in that moment... it helped her realize who I truly was.
She slapped me in the shoulder. "How could you?!? After all this time! Where you been, Ash Ketchum?!?"
"Ash?!?" Clement, Gary, Iris, and May said in total shock.
I rubbed my head, "H-Hey, guys. Long time no see."
I sighed, remembering what happened with Red.
"Ash.. what's wrong?" Clement asks, seeing my expression.
I sighed.
"It's Red. Lysandre got him and right now, Bonnie is battling him... alone."
"Why would she do that?!?" Clement asks, now worried about his little sister.
"I tried to not let battle, but she refused, so I let her. You know how she is, Clement." I replied.
He sighs, "Ok, but I still don't understand. Where you been, Ash? For FIVE YEARS?!?"
I sighed. I unleash one of my Aura Spheres across the base battlefield and everyone's eyes grew wide.
"You didn't show me that!" Brock said.
Serena asks, "Wait, you knew all along!"
"Uh, learn it a while ago. Bonnie knew it before I did." Brock explains.
"What you mean?" Gary asks.
"I'm a Pokémon Guardian. It's a long story." I said.
"We got time." May said.
I sighed as I retold my story of how I was reunited with the Legendary Time Pokémon, Arceus, and he revealed I was a Pokémon Guardian, Dawn was shocked and interrupted me.
"Wait a second! So, apparently after your mom and Max betrayed you for giving up your dream, out of nowhere, you were kidnapped by Arceus. That's um..."
"Surprising, yeah. Tell me about it." I replied.
"So... I guess all this time, you had to go to Pokémon Guardian training." Gary realizes.
I nodded, "Yeah. And Arceus told me I couldn't return to the real world for five years. You have no idea how hard the decision was for me."
Serena runs away from us. I tried to follow, but May holds me back.
"Ash, give her some time alone. It must've hit her hard with all those years apart."
I said, "I guess you're right. It has been a while since I last saw her. I wished there is something I can do about it."
"Ashy-boy, you will figure it out eventually. Right now, we need to remain focus on defeating Lysandre and Team Flare." Gary said, trying to cheer me up.
Gary
Wow. Ash is a Pokémon Guardian. Who would've thought of that?!? As I see Ash practicing his Guardian Powers, Granddad was standing right beside me.
"You seemed surprised of Ash's return." He said.
I blushed with embarrassment, "Was it that too oblivious, Grandad?"
"Well, it is noticeable, Gary. Ash needs you to help him fulfill his job as a Pokémon Guardian and save not just Kalos, but to save everyone he loves, which includes Red."
"How we got against Lysandre and Team Flare?!? It seems like they had the upper hand than we do."
"Maybe, but we've got a Pokémon Guardian on our side. What can go wrong?"
I chuckled, "With Ash, anything can go wrong."
Clement said, "I hope that Bonnie is all right with handling Lysandre on her own."
"Come on, She's a Pokémon Trainer with an powerful Zygarde as her Pokémon!" I said, trying to boost his worried expression on his sister.
|Meanwhile in Prism Tower|
Bonnie
As I was in a battle against the evil version of Ash's brother, Red, it wasn't easy.
Red is like the same attitude as his brother, always thinking outside the box.
"Had enough, Bonnie?!? Would've thought a you would be a weak trainer?" He said.
I got up from the ground, "I know that this isn't you, Red. Lysandre did something to you, and I'm not leaving you behind."
He laughs, "How cute. It's too bad that your Dedenne is going to loose!"
His Charizard blew flamethrower at Dedenne as he was going down off Prism Tower!
"Dedenne!" I cried, without thinking, I jumped off of Prism Tower, just like Ash did, back in his first day at the Kalos Region.
Dedenne was in total shock, but then we were saved.
"Charizard, catch them!" A familiar voice cried.
We landed in Charizard's back and the person was riding was no other than-
"Alain!" I exclaimed in total shock.
"Glad I caught you." He smiles at me as we landed to a safer location.
As I got off of Charizard, I said, "What you and Charizard doing here?"
"Well, I heard rumors about what's happening in Kalos, so, I had to help out. Professor Sycamore sent me to investigate the situation, but I never thought that I would bump into you after five years. You've grown since the Kalos League." Alain explains.
I said, "Well, we all need to grow up sometime, right?"
He laughs but then his expression changes.
"So, who was that guy you were battling against with, anyway?"
"That is Ash's brother, Red." I said to the Champion.
"Ash?!? Wait, how does it even-" He began to ask me.
"I can explain once we head back to the Resistance Base." I said, looking concerned.
"Right, lead the way!" Alain said, following my lead.
