Chapter 26: Percy Falls....Again
A special direction to @-HereComestheSun- who's correct answer was a flower. Who knew, right?!
Also I want to give a shout out to @Black_and_red for helping through my writer's block! If I could give you a plate of French toast I would but unfortunately I ate it.
Also if you hate this chapter: blame her, not the author. =D jk, don't.
Percy POV.
The four of the them looked at each other. The air was thick with tension and Percy's mind reeled replaying what had happened. That guy-what had Tony and Bruce called him? Loki?- had saved his life. Wasn't he a God or something? Tony and Bruce looked on the verge of either attacking or running. Loki for the most part looked amused, if not slightly disappointed.
"Well, well, well." Loki said smugly. "If it isn't the man of iron and the green rage monster."
Bruce scowled and Tony shifted his weight, unsure how to handle the situation. Percy looked back and forth between them. Who was this guy?
"Did I miss something?" He asked.
"Percy, step away from the crazy God, please." Tony said, his eyes flickering around the room, possibly looking for one of his little toys that he could use against Loki.
Loki seemed to find this very amusing. "Ah yes, Perseus, step away from the guy who saved your life."
"Will you people please stop saying my name like that." Percy said. "It's Percy, and the next person that says Perseus I will run through with my sword."
Loki threw his head back and laughed. "I wouldn't say that, just yet."
As if on cue, thunder shook the building and lightning flashed violently outside. Percy didn't see what the mischievous God meant. Tony and Bruce seemed to know though.
"Can't have Loki without-" Bruce murmured only to be cut off by an unnaturally loud burst of thunder.
"LOKI!"
Percy dove to the side. Lightning filled the room, blinding Percy for a second and causing his hairs to stand on end. The smell of burning ozone sparked in the air. With a gigantic thud, the carpet streaming under his feet, a figure stood from a crouching position.
The first thing Percy noticed was the hammer. A strange choice of weapon. The second was that he was a God. There wasn't really any way to over look the out of place armor, or the billowing cape, or the strong aura that radiated off him.
"-Thor." Bruce finished his earlier statement.
"Ah yes, come to join the party, brother?" Loki asked clutching his glowing staff in a threatening manner.
"Brother...?" Percy muttered. They didn't look anything alike!
"Loki, why have you come back to earth?" Thor asked shifting his hold on his hammer. He didn't look like he wanted to fight, but he would if push came to shove.
Loki smiled. "I got an offer, something I couldn't refuse."
Something in Percy's head screamed run to him, but he felt frozen to place.
"What offer?! From whom?!" Thor asked, grimacing as if he already knew the answer and didn't like it.
"Surely you of all people know!" Loki said smiling widely. Percy really didn't like that smile anymore. "I assumed he told you about it, too."
"Thor, what's he talking about?" Tony demanded, sounding slightly uncertain like he was walking on a glass bridge. It was weird coming from him.
Thor didn't break eye contact with Loki. "I do not think you wish to know, man of iron. And I would leave before my brother does something he would regret."
"No way we're leaving you to beat up this crazy guy again." Tony said firmly.
Loki laughed, except it was cold and menacing. Percy felt a growing suspicion of what exactly this offer included. "You should have listened, Stark. I, afterall, got the offer from the man in the cloak of Stars!"
Percy was up and running before he'd truly processed, what had been said.
"And if you see a man in a cloak of Stars- say no. Just trust me on that. Say no." Luke's words floated back to him. This man with a cloak of Stars, whoever he was, was not a good thing. And neither was running frantically through the halls of Stark tower with two angry gods and two slightly confused Avengers on his tail.
Explosions rocked the building behind him, stray bolts of lightning narrowly missed his head breaking glass mirrors in front of him or leaving smoldering holes in the wallpaper. Yells jumbled together but Percy barely heard them over his ecstatic breathing.
He didn't really know where he was going, but he wasn't really in the mood to be electrocuted or blasted out to space.
He charged down a flight of stairs slamming his arm into the railing by accident. He could feel the pedant bouncing around his neck glowing with heat. Suddenly the step in front of him detonated in a blazing blue light. Percy stumbled, unbalanced, tripping through the newly made hole. His head slammed into the previous step, scattering his thoughts in a blurb of pain.
He could see Loki smiling like a Cheshire Cat, from above his glowing staff still pointed at the steps.
Percy plummeted downwards, bracing himself for an impact on the concrete below. An impact that never came.
Percy heard the familiar sound repulser blasts, that he'd become accustome to over the past week, and he landed heavily in Tony's arms. For a second, he thought they were going to fall but the jets on the iron suit's feet held up just fine.
"What is going on here?!" Tony demanded flipping open his face piece.
"Move!" Percy yelled instead of answering. Not that he had any idea how he would explain it anyway. A bolt of lightning cut through the air narrowly missing Percy and Tony.
"I thought Thor was on our side!" He yelled.
"The staff!" Tony said. "Loki must have- all this time-!" Tony landed roughly the ground, causing Percy to stumble out of his arms. They had somehow landed in the parking Garage below Stark Towers. Across the lot, which was filled with expensive looking cars that were probably Stark's, Clint and Natasha ran over to them, weapons ready.
"Guys it's Loki-!"
"Look out!" Percy pulled Tony away as the red haired assassin slashed the air in front of him. "Their eyes! Something's wrong!"
"The staff can control you!" Tony said and Percy didn't have time to muse over how stupid that sounded. "Loki must have enhanced it. We can't hurt them!"
Clint notched an arrow letting it go with perfect accuracy. Percy dove out of the way and the arrow hit a '67 Chevy Impala, instantly annihilating it a frenzy of fire. Percy didn't want to know what would have happened if it hit him.
He swallowed hard. "Obviously they don't have the same morals as us." He croaked.
"Hey! That was one of my favorites!" Tony whined.
"Not the time!" Percy snapped. He whipped out his pen, uncapping the three foot sword, and ignoring Tony's wide eyes. Lightning and Thunder cracked around them he could hear crashes and bangs of Thor wrestling with Loki. Or at least he hoped that's what that was.
Natasha stared at him, her new blue irises unblinking. Then she snapped into action so quick Percy barely saw her. He raised his sword to defend himself catching one of her knives barely before it was implanted in his skull.
He twisted his sword away round house kicking her in the side. He winced as if feeling the pain. He couldn't hurt these guys! They were under mind control!
Natasha glared at him laughing a flurry of punches and kicks that he tried to dodge without retailing. She hooked him in the jaw snapping his head back and immediately kicked him in the chest.
Percy fell backward landing heavily on a red sports car. His face ached, and chest heaved, His mind went on auto pilot.
He attacked back engaging the Widow in a dangerous hand to hand, knife to sword combat. Every strike was countered, every move anticipated. Percy felt sweat drop down his forehead as he searched for a weakness. He wanted to talk to her, Natasha, and try to convince her to take control. But he knew it wouldn't do anything.
He whipped around taking the broad end of his sword to her temple slamming her down.
Before he could even breathe, something wrapped around his throat. He fought against restraint that was cutting of his air, feeling the painful bend of Clint's bow. He jabbed his elbow back into Hawkeye gut, but he didn't let up.
"Come on!" He could vaguely hear Loki's command, like a fan cheering at a wrestling match. "Finish him, already!"
Percy struggled to breathe, darkness closing his vision. He pushed back against the grip of the weapon.
Just when he thought he was going to die, the shield came out of where.
It slammed into Clint's brow, knocking him aside in a swirl of Red, white, and blue. Percy fell to his knees gasping for air.
"Tony, get the kid! Lola's out front!"
Percy looked up stunned to see Tony staring in shock over his shoulder instead of helping him.
Loki face was also in shock. Or more like confusion. "Didn't I kill you already?"
(A/N: Haha! You thought it was Capitan America! Comment right here if you know who it is without looking by that statement alone. I should see lots of comments!)
"Yeah, Stabbing people through the heart does that." Percy looked back and saw a man in a neat business suit, holding a weird looking gun. He looked rather healthy for a dead guy. "I assume Fury's busy at the moment?"
"Coulson?!" Tony gasped, "You-you're alive!"
"Yes and I'd prefer to keep it that way." He said matter-of-factly.
"I'm starting to remember why I don't like you!" Before Percy could move Tony swooped into action. He grabbed Percy's waist flinging them both into the air, heading for the exit back to the surface. Tony reached down picking up The Coulson guy as they went. Coulson seemed to be fighting for something in his pocket. Were those car keys?
"Stop Them, Mortals!"
Clint launched a valet of arrows at the each missing by barely and inch and exploding the air. Percy could feel his heart thumping against his ribcage.
Rain pelted his face as they burst through the exit, thunder roared over head. Percy prayed to Zeus just to have this one ticket through the air.
"I swear on the Styx, if you let me live through this, Zeus, I'll apologize to Thalia for putting an octopus in her hunting bag! Even though she totally deserved it!" He yelled into the wind and rain.
"I am sorry, Perseus," Thor loomed ahead of them, swinging his hammer whilst floating. "But it is not to Zeus, whom you should be praying to."
Tony slowed nearing the God of thunder. "Wait-wait, Thor! What are you doing- NO!"
Thor let out a bellow and flung his hammer at Iron man. Percy saw everything in slow motion. The hammer smashed into Iron man's chest plate, throwing the suit backwards. Sparks and flashed cracked through the metal and then was falling.
And screaming.
And it might have almost sounded like a little girl.
He felt his stomach tie itself in knots, and his hair fly rapidly around his head. Wind lashed his ears and cheeks. This time he was positive he was going to die. Iron man soared past him the suit no longer holding itself in the air and gathering speed, dropping like a rock.
A roaring sound filled his senses. The air vibrated next to him, repeated clipping noise thundered over the noise of the rain. He was almost surprised by what he saw when he looked over. Almost.
A flying car.
And that Coulson guy was driving it.
"Need a lift?!" He yelled.
Percy just nodded. And Coulson pulled over under him. And Percy slammed awkwardly into the passenger seat. His head hit the side door and he landed on a cardboard box. Pulling the box out from under him he briefly saw that it was a box for a Captain America shield, the type you can get at Wal-Mart for twenty bucks.
"It was a collector's edition." Coulson said nodding to the box. "Nice hair."
Percy glanced in the side mirror, seeing he looked like he'd been through a tornado. He figured of he kept falling from enormous heights this would be normal for him. Rain Pounded against the windshield and the interior of the car, it took Percy a minute to focus.
"Tony!" He said. "He's still falling!"
Coulson shook his head. "He's survived worse. We need to get you out of-"
He was cut off by an estranged battle cry as Thor reappeared on the hood of the car, creating distinct landing marks in cover. The tipped forward with a sudden jerk and Percy slammed into dashboard. He glanced over at Coulson who's head had hit the steering wheel, a dribble of blood running down his cheek. Percy winced.
For a life threatening second The thunder God struggled to find his balance.
Then he toppled backwards and the car flipped.
Percy felt his body go weightless once again, as windows of nearby buildings sped by. He felt like he was having an extremely sucky day, even by demigods standards. Today alone he's fallen like four times. On the street below pedestrians were screaming and running and pointing at him or The crater were Tony lay. Above him Coulson had been buckled and He could only hope that car stayed airborn until someone could help.
Speaking of help who was going to help him? A peppermint taste filled his mouth warning of his oncoming death. Percy covered his body as best he could and felt a tug in his gut.
He watched amazed by his own powers as the rain fit together. Then instead of gal he was sliding. Sliding downa huge, water slide, m made literally out of water. Percy had the nerve to let out a laugh. Then instead of sliding he was slamming.
Ding!
Percy's head made a hollow sound as he skidded across the pavement into a street light.
No wonder she calls him a Seaweed Brain.
Percy stumbled up clutching his temple in pain. But no sooner had wobbled to a standing position than he felt both his arms get pinned to his back. He vaguely recognized Clint and Natasha by his side. A shadow fell over him, and his insides twisted worse than when he had been falling.
Towering over him was Nick Fury, holding the staff in his left hand, with power and authority. He grinned like he owned the world, and Percy could have sworn he saw Loki's eyes flicker with mischief.
"Now Percy Jackson, Bow down to me."

Okay it sucks, sue me.
I'm a terrible awful author. How many days has it been? Six Days?! Oh. That was a lot shorter than I thought it was. Never mind.
Trivia Time!
Winner gets a dedication next chapter!
In Captain America: the First Avenger, who tells Captain America he "Could have the power of the Gods" ?
Speaking of Captain America...Where do you think Banner and him were throughout this? Do you think think they're going to leave Percy out to dry (not counting that Percy is the son Poseidon, and can't technically get wet...)? Oh and why do you think Thor sided with Loki? Is he the bad guy now?!
Why am I asking you guys the questions?! I'm the author!
