Chapter 22: Percy Falls Out a Fifty Story Window
Special Dedication to @ladyawesome45321! The correct answer was Smeltings! On with the story!
Percy POV.
Apparently Luke's little pocket dimension Chat had taken all night. Percy wasn't sure whether to be grateful or annoyed, so he stuck with being a completely overly exhausted teenager, who hasn't slept quite right since he's been forced to work as a terrorist.
It seemed to work pretty well.
At least, Banner bought it. Director Fury on the other hand, seemed to know something was going on. Percy wondered if all director people had that sort of instinct-- to just know when someone's plotting something.
Percy had gotten used to the feel of the CHA necklace around his neck now. On occasion, when he started to feel light headed his hand would subconsciously find it's way to the pendant. But never on any occasion did Luke ever contact him again. Percy knew he shouldn't worry about it but sometimes he would get a shiver of the idea that something had happened to him.
Even though he had made that list of To-Do's, he still hadn't gotten a chance to do the number one. Ditch the Avengers.
It seemed every hour there was always an Avenger everywhere. It was like they took Percy Watch. It made it hard to just plain find some solitude just to plan how he would escape.
Yes, Plan. Percy actually had to think this one out. Unlike all the other times he couldn't run his sword through the threat and be done with it. (Not to say he hadn't already tried). On top of all that, like a fifty pound cherry on a ice cream cone, every single time he ran into Fury, he would end up in a intense conversation about something in his tower of lies.
One of the times, he was sure his tower was going to come down on top of him.
So that gave Percy yet another thing to worry about--a dead line. It was either that or avoid Fury at all costs, which he was frankly too overwhemled to do every second of his life.
Percy looked in the mirror of his bathroom rising away blood from a towel. He whinced feeling over the new scars on his chest. If only he had some ambrosia. Maybe then this wouldn't be as painful.
Yeah Morphues had visited him last night. Percy tried to keep his mind off his nightmares. One thing you could be sure of--they invovled a lot of pain. Percy glanced into his own eyes taking deep breaths.
"Sir?" Jarvis asked. "Are you okay?"
"Yes Jarvis thanks for the concern." Percy said quickly. He quickly exited the bathroom and pulled on a different T shirt. He had picked today to implement his plan. And it started with a talk to Fury.
He walked out the door of his room, pausing only to glance out the window where sheets of rain poured down the streets. Lightning and thunder clashed, almost shaking the building. He couldn't deny that that made him feel slightly uncomfortable, considering he wasn't on Zeus's top one hundred favorite list.
He strolled into the kitchen grabbing a blue, blueberry muffin out of the plastic container on the counter. He ignored the fact that all the conversation had stopped as he walked in. Natasha, Clint and Tony were looking at him slightly paranoid, if not guilty, and Banner was quietly stirring his coffee.
Percy gave them a half wave and took a big bite of the muffin.
Lightning flashed right outside the window lighting up the entire room. Thunder was almost instantaneous.
Tony let out a weak laugh. "Sounds like Thor's back."
Everyone smiled at that. Percy had gathered a lot of info on the Avengers and beyond the fact that they were annoying, nosy, loud, and obnoxious, they were pretty cool. At least Thor sounded like he was. Thunder? Lighting? Everything Jason could do? Eh, why not?
Remembering Jason sent a sick feeling throughout Percy. Suddenly he lost his appetite. He put down the muffin and looked at the Avengers. Silence filled the room heavily.
"Are you all just going to keep staring at me all day?" Percy snapped.
"Yep." Tony said putting on a creepy smile. Natasha rolled her eyes and started a conversation with Clint over...exploding pillow pets? What?! Bruce stood up and stretched. He yawned some sort of excuse and went to put his mug the sink and headed for his lab.
Percy didn't pay any mind. He was looking out the Windows in the lounge area across from the kitchen. He could've sworn he saw something amidst the bullets of rain. Something big and black.
"Sir it seems my mainframe contracted a virus" Jarvis said suddenly. "Shut down starting up...."
"Jarvis?!" Tony yelled. "Jarvis! What the Hell!" He abruptly stood up. "I've got to go check that."
Tony got up following the same path Bruce had taken to the lab.
Percy felt the hairs on the back of his neck stick up. Even though normal wasn't in a demigods vocabulary, he was pretty sure something was wrong with this.
Then suddenly it clicked.
"Tony!" Percy yelled, causing the inventor to stop in his tracks. "Watch-!"
He didn't get to finish as the glass windows exploded in bullets and rain. the black shape Percy had seen earlier had been a jet. The very same jet that had just blew up their lounge. Natasha and Clint dove for cover, behind a counter in the kitchen.
Percy didn't have time to worry about them though. at the same time as the attack Something had slammed Tony across the room. Percy was almost positive if Tony had taken another step, the impact of the direct hit would've killed him.
Before Percy could do anything remotely helpful, he was flying across the kitchen. He landed with a thud, skidding over broken glass and the carpeted floor.
He gasped feeling the wind get knocked out of him as something landed top of him.
"Oh? Are you new?" The person said obviously a guy, closing a hand around Percy's throat. "No matter, your just as flammable as the rest."
Suddenly he felt the hand around his throat heat up. He yelled out. A burning sensation welt up in him. He couldn't breathe. It reminded him of the breathing in the toxic air of Tartatrus. Darkness clouded his vision, as his mind threatened to drag him back to that terrible place. He screamed not because of the pain, but the memories.
"Percy!" Natasha yelled over his screams. She was crouched behind a tipped over broken couch, one hand asking pressure to her bleeding arm, the other gripping one of her guns. She was barely save from the ricocheting guns of the black jet.
"Oh sweet!" The guy yelled, his entire body caught fire like embers. The Black Widow fired a round into the guy, direct hits, but he just turned to smile at her. His body healed itself before her eyes.
Percy's mind was on fire. He struggled underneath the weight of the grown man on top of him. Behind the tears of pain he could make out the red haired Avenger get tackled by another of the intruders.
"No!" He yelled. He felt his fatal flaw reach out in him. He felt responsible for these people. He had to save them.
Fire. They could regenerate. They could burn.
Then they could drown also.
He focus all of his energy. He pushed every thought of pain, sadness, fear, even death, to the back of his mind. He felt the tug in his gut.
Then
Everything
Exploded.
Water shot out of the piping in the walls drenching the man with enough force to toss him off of Percy. The faucet of the kitchen sink, rocketed off the sink slamming into the tinted widows of the jet, and crashed through. With a screeching and smoking whirling, the jet fell away from the tower.
Percy felt the rain outside warp around following his thoughts. The water flooded the room, pulling the fire people away from the Avengers. Tony shot a repulsor blast narrowly missing Hawkeye who dove away.
"How is the water doing this?!" Clint yelled jumping away from the struggling fire adults. Not that he needed to; every time they tried to flame up water swelled around them, leaving them thrashing and slightly waterlogged.
"Not so fast!" Percy turned, cursing himself for forgetting one as the woman dive tackled him. They went sprawling towards the widow, Percy slamming heavily out of her grip, and skidding over the side.
Percy wildly grabbed at the side, lodging a good sized glass fragment in his hand. He howled and his fingers slipped.
He felt his stomach start to rise and images became blurry. Below him explosions and screams could be heard as people ran from the jet crashed site. Above him he could see the cruel smile of the woman peering over the edge and then the sudden jerk of Her being thrown back. The wind whipped around him. His eyes watered, He stomach tied in knots threatening to bring back...whatever he had last time he actually ate. His jacket flapped around him. He could practically taste death.
It kinda tasted like peppermint...
Then he was jerked upwards and then swiftly to the side, right into a glass pane of towers. At the last second when Percy thought he was going to be a nice window decoration, the glass disappeared and he tumbled over the person who saved him ending as a mess on the carpets floor.
Percy gasped for air, barely getting over how close he had come to death (not that that was anything new for him). He looked over at the person who saved him and rubbed his eyes.
Director Fury stood before him. But something was wrong. He held a golden scepter in his hand and smiled uncharacteristically mischievously.
"When your father said you were danger prone, I have to admit I didn't believe him." Director Fury said. Suddenly his feet starting to glitter, covering the entire person in a gold fog. "But now...."
The mist cleared and Percy was left more confused than ever. The new person had sleek black hair and a cunning look to him. He wore and outfit of gold and green that Percy couldn't even begin to describe and a headband of gold...either antlers or horns- He couldn't tell which. He radiated a powerful aura, the type of a god.
"Now, I'm convinced." The figure said. He crossed his arms smiling. Percy noticed something though. Despite his cool act, there was something in his eyes...Regret? Yes Percy was sure that what it was.He had done something.
Who was he?
Just then the door slammed open on the other side of the lab and Both Bruce and Tony burst in. They skidded to a stop seeing Percy and the man. They tensed and one word escaped from their lips.
"Loki."

Ta-da! Just like I promised! Pfft, I didn't forget and then hurriedly write this at ten o'clock on the train ride home, what?
Anyway! Yeah.
Trivia Time!
What is the first thing Loki says in the Avengers movie?
Yeah sorry I'm tired. I don't feel like looking anything exciting up.
