First- Why didn't anyone tell me I completely skipped Chapter 15?! Thanks guys! -.-
Second- Special Dedication to @Ninjagirl13! I don't feel like typing out what the map says but she got it right!
Percy POV.
Percy stared at the object in his hand. What was this suppose to be? He ran his fingers over the cool metal. It was pedant on a string. The pedant was a dark purple and the shape of a triangle. Percy notice the small print on on side with the letters: CHA. He reasoned that there had to be at least maybe two other pieces, like a three way friendship necklace that those little mortal girls give to each other.
Percy really didn't believe that this necklace would bond a friendship.
He thoroughly went through the rest of the box but there was nothing else that could he him figure out who sent the package. Especially not when the box decided to spontaneously combust showering him in brown flakes of cardboard box.
"Great Wonderful." He muttered. "This is exactly how I want to live the rest of my life. Hunting my girlfriend and getting exploding packages from some random God."
"Sir?"
"Nothing Jarvis," Percy said quickly. He had forgotten the computer could hear everything he said. "Just talking to myself. I think I'm going to go back to the pool."
"Sir, I highly advise you not to. Too much time in the pool could result in numerous side effects-"
The rest of what the electronic butler had to say was drowned out by Percy's laughing. "Trust me, Jarvis, I couldn't be healthier in the pool."
Percy tossed the necklace on to his nightstand and walked over to the door. "I can breath underwater Jarvis. I think I can survive theses "side effects" or whatever you call them. Are the Avengers still in the kitchen?"
"No Sir, they are currently playing Mario Kart on the Xbox in the game room."
"Cool." Percy said opening the door silently. "Who's winning?"
"Natasha."
Percy laughed a little. He stepped into the hallway and made his way toward the kitchen. He passed by the Game room where the door was open and stopped for a second.
Natasha was indeed ahead of everyone else, by at least one lap. Tony was cursing at her and throwing shells at her as she lapped him. Bruce was relaxing in a chair laughing at his teammates. Clint looked about ready to start fighting in the real world. But mostly What Percy saw and heard was laughter and good times.
He frowned and started again to the stairs that lead to the training room. Why couldn't that happen at camp half blood? Stupid Monsters. Stupid electronics. What if Leo could create some sort of monster signal scrambler? Could he and his friends mess around like the Avengers do? A swell of Jealousy lumped in his throat, but he quickly pushed it away.
Percy walked down the metal staircase, staring out the big windows at the night life of New York. Of Course he's lived in New York his entire life, but seeing everything from up here....it was different.
"Where are You, Annabeth?" He asked. "Where did you disappear to?"
He wondered if someone was looking for him. Probably. What if they found him? How could he explain what he did? He couldn't let anyone know about the rest of the demigods. He was dancing on a mine field. One wrong move could hurt everyone he's ever cared about.
Percy put his hand in his pocket. He frowned pulling out an unfamiliar object from his.
The necklace.
He started at it for a minute. How did it...? He didn't want this stupid gift. He wanted to find his girlfriend, his friends, he wanted to get back to his camp, he wanted to see Jason and Hazel ok and joking around. He wanted to know who was after him this time.
Some stupid Necklace was not helping at all.
Percy slammed the necklace onto the ground and continued down the stairs. He stormed into the Training room. Maybe he didn't need the pool. Maybe he just needed to let off some steam.
"Jarvis, I need some type of dummy I can cut up." He said walking to the empty side of gym.
"Of Course Sir. Are you going to be using the pool at all?"
Percy gritted his teeth. "Not right this second."
"Level of difficulty, Sir?"
"Start out medium and increase it whenever I say." Percy said reaching for Riptide. He pulled out another object. He cursed in Greek and threw the necklace into the pool behind him and pulled out his sword.
He uncapped the pen and it became the three foot long bronze sword.
"Level 6 starting up." Jarvis said. Immediately the lights dimmed. Green figures with shiny swords began to load. The entire room became a virtual jungle. Percy was quite impressed with this technology. "Loading attackers. Loading complete. Press start."
Percy looked around for a start button. This was just like his video games from when he was younger. Before he knew he was a demigod. Before he believed in the Gods. Back when Smelly Gabe was...Not a garden statue.
Percy looked at the blinking turquoise Start button on the floor. He stepped forward.
Instantly the green figures began to attack. Percy whirled and slashed. This was too easy. As soon as Percy's blade hit the figures they disintegrated. In twenty seconds they attackers were gone.
"Harder, Jarvis!"
"Level 7 starting."
Again the figures charged. Percy sliced his blade through them as if in a trance. Still Too easy.
"Level Eight!"
"Loading."
Percy looked around. No charging? What was happening-
An arrow narrowly missed his shoulder. Percy pitched himself forward. He rolled to stand on the uneven forest floor. His eyes immediately picked out four archers among the tree tops. He flashed his sword, grinning.
He leapt up the nearest tree dodging arrows by less than a centimeter. By the time that the archer knew Percy was behind him it was too late.
An arrow whizzed right in front of him embedding itself in the bark of the tree beside him. Percy flicked his wrist predicting the rain of arrows that came down on him. He reflected the arrows headed for his heart and ran along a sturdy branch. With a leap Percy jumped to another limb of a tree landing nimbly next to another archer. Hooking his free arm around the archers neck and throwing his sword with deadly accuracy at another who was in mid jump.
Riptide sliced through the virtual man and kept going hitting the last archer in the chest. The archer in Percy's arms evaporated as Percy knocked him out.
"Level nine."
Suddenly Percy was back at the start Riptide in his hand. A mass of green blurs charged him. Percy's sword became an arch of destruction. His mind had one goal pushed into overdrive. He slammed his sword into ones head and kick flipped another over his shoulder. He himself around the trunk of a tree in a 360° slamming his feet into the chest of one causing them to fall back into a dozen others. At one point Percy launched himself in the air kicking a couple heads as he caught onto a tree and hauled himself up.
He hacked at the other people trying to reach him, slowly dwindling down the numbers. Until he finally was alone again.
He leaned back against the trunk of the tree and wiped seat from his face. He glanced at his reflection in his sword panting heavily. He winced seeing his half sane eyes looking back at him. His restless black hair was coated in sweat. He looked at his arm where he had a gained one cut. The only time he had gotten hit.
Percy shrugged and went to cap Riptide when another arrow narrowly missed his shoulder again. Percy lost his balance, in his shock, and went tumbling down from the tree he was in.
Percy yelled as the ground grew closer. Of Course this wasn't anything like Jumping off the St. Louis arch but still it was going to hurt. He squeezed his eyes shut ready for impact.
He was generally surprised when he hit the water. Percy inhaled and opened his eyes. He bumped the bottom of the twelve foot pool and rolled his eyes in annoyance. What did they want?
The Avengers stood up at the top of the pool. Natasha was hitting Clint, who looked horrified that he caused Percy to fall. Tony was standing there laughing with a drink in his hand, probably some alcohol because the way he was smiling. Bruce was the only one who looked over the ledge at him, as if concerned.
Percy debated what they would do if he just stayed down there. His hair waved around with the water current. His necklace of camp beads floated upwards...along with that stupid pedant.
Percy groaned and ripped the metal off the necklace and tossed it back into the water. He kicked towards the surface willing himself to get wet.
He made a face as the cold feeling of water surrounded. He broke the surface glaring at Clint. Water dropped down his face. He paddled over to the edge and pulled himself out.
"Dude! I was in the middle of something!" He complained.
"Sorry, Perce," Clint said. "Tony thought it would be funny."
"And it was!" Tony laughed taking a swig of his drink. "You should have seen your face!"
Percy gave an irritated huff. "Whatever. I'm kinda busy. So what do you guys want?"
Natasha eyed him curiously. "What level were you on?"
"I just finished Nine." Percy said ignoring her gasp and widening eyes. "Is that all?"
"Level nine?!" Bruce exclaimed. "Are you sure? Jarvis is that true?"
"Correct, Sir."
"Is there a problem?" Percy asked crossed his arms.
"Percy, no one's ever gotten past nine!" Bruce marveled. "The sheer number-! It's over whelming! For a teenager-!"
"Yeah whatever." Percy said turning around. He was just ready for them to leave, so he could get back to training. Maybe if he worked himself hard enough he could skip over the dreams and torture part of sleeping.
Stupid Morpheus.
"Look I'm going back to-" Percy started but suddenly he felt as if someone had slammed something into the back of his head. His eyes crossed and knees buckled. His vision went black before he hit the ground. The Avengers rushed forward, even Tony who was half drunk.
But there was no hint, clue, mark, nothing that could show what had happened to the demigod.
Unknown to the Avengers, and overlooked by Bruce himself, the small triangular pedant that hung around Percy's neck was glowing ever so slightly, the letters CHA shining a little more menacingly than Percy would have liked.
