Chapter 13: Percy gets a Package
Special Dedication to @Read_Write_hope! The correct answer was "Harry Potter." Enjoy this update!
Percy POV.
Percy glanced around the flashy room and asked himself once again, who's idea was this. Of course it was his, but he sort of kinda, messed up really big. What's worse is that he knew he messed up.
He twirled his pen in his hand, nervously.
"Percy? You still with me?" Tony asked waving a hand in Percy's face. Percy snaked back to reality blinking twice to show he had no clue what Tony just said. "What's with that pen anyway? You always have it in your hand."
Percy laughed inwardly, but he put the pen away. "ADHD. It keeps my hands busy."
"Yeah well, this is the Avenger floor. Your room will be down the hall to the left. A bit of a warning- Clint and Natasha aren't morning people so I suggest you don't go making noise. Bruce...."
Percy tuned out as Tony continued with the detailed tour. Who's idea was this, again?
He was pretty impressed with the architecture, and stuff. He knew Annabeth would have a blast running around this building. Leo would probably kill him for not taking him to meet the amazing Tony Stark.
He sighed and rubbed his temples. If he got out of this alive, which was highly unlikely, and unscathed, also unlikely, then he swore on the Styx he'd never get on another God's/ Titan's/ Whatever-else-is-out-there's bad side again.
Wait a second- He didn't really have control over that...Better change that. He'd swear on the Styx to tell Clarisse she was um...cool? Ugh he'd have to work on his swears on the River Styx's.
"Percy!" Something slapped the back of his head.
"Ow! What?" He asked, suddenly noticing Tony was gone and He was alone in the bed room hall with Clint, who was causally eating a pint of Mint chocolate chip ice cream.
"Uh...." He said intelligently.
To his relief Clint laughed. The Avengers had gladly welcomed him to team, except Natasha, but had told him not to worry about it. Apparently that was normal. Percy knew though if he was going to do this he'd have to be flawless.
"I was wondering why Tony was talking to himself down the Training room." Clint scooped a spoonful of ice cream into his mouth
"I should probably catch up to him." Percy said. He shifted his weight from foot to foot, not really knowing where to go. Clint laughed again and pointed with his spoon. "Go down that hall, past the kitchen, grab some food if you want, then to the elevator. Jarvis can take you to where Tony is."
"Who's Jarvis?"
"Tony didn't tell you?" Percy shrugged. Tony had probably said something about another person running around and Percy just had zoned out. Clint nodded, understanding. "He's Tony's personal robotic butler thing. He runs everything in Stark towers. And a great conversationalist."
Percy blinked and nodded. Robotic butlers? Sure why not. He said a thank you and hurried after Clint's instructions, grabbing a Poptart from the kitchen cabinet. He found himself in the elevator unsure what to do.
"Hello Sir. How can I be of assistance?"
Percy nearly leapt two feet in the air, whipping out Riptide.
"Please put the weapon away Sir. There's no need. I am Jarvis. How can I be of Assistance?"
"I..Uh...lost Tony somehow. Clint said he's in the Training room can you take me?"
"Absolutely."
Percy felt the elevator start to move upward. He closed his eyes trying to ignore the sickness in his stomach. Despite that his breath continued to quicken. He gripped the railing in the elevator until his knuckles were white.
"Sir Are you alright?"
"Uh yeah Jarvis.I don't like elevators. At all." He shuddered thinking of his time in Tartatrus. "Jarvis do you report to anyone?"
"It depends sir. Unless it's an emergency, no I do not."
"Splendid." Percy said. He couldn't help but feel relieved as the doors slid open with a ding. "And, uh, Jarvis?"
"Yes Sir?"
"Please don't tell anyone about my elevator thing."
"Of course sir."
"You can just call me Percy. No sirs required."
"Of course sir."
Percy smiled looking around the Training room. He didn't see Tony anywhere. Just as he was about to leave his eyes caught a gleam from the corner of the room.
"Jarvis? One more thing."
"Yes Sir?"
"This isn't an emergency." Percy took a running leap into the Training pool. Fully Clothed and all. Percy couldn't have been happier to be back in his element. Too bad it wasn't salt water though. but he could feel the last of the aches and scars from the unwanted meeting with Morpheus. He sighed thinking of what would happen tonight. Couldn't they just leave him alone? Dude sorry you lost a war after putting the entire state of New York to sleep. Not his fault.
Percy laid at the bottom of the pool relaxing. It felt weird. Jason and Hazel where MIA, his girl friend he just framed for being a terrorist, His camp under attack, maybe worse, here was at bottom of a twelve foot pool, creating and popping bubbles with his powers.
"Sir, The Avengers are looking for you." Jarvis said. "Would you like me to tell them you have been under water for the past two hours?"
Percy sat up quickly. Two hours?! How could that have been two hours?!
"Uh...no. I'll be right up." Percy swam to the surface, jumping out quickly. He ran to the stairs opposite of the elevator. "Jarvis. Our secret okay? Don't tell anyone. Not even Fury, please?"
"Yes Sir."
Percy jogged up a couple flights of stairs, wondering if he could trust the robot. Probably not. But hey- If Fury had been watching, Percy would be under lock and key already. He stopped outside the door to the bedroom hall and kitchen, and calmed his breathing enough to go inside.
He walked in nonchalantly. All the Avengers stopped what they were doing and looked at him. Percy stopped walking.
"What?" He asked.
Clint and Bruce were seated at the kitchen table a stack of pizza boxes front of them. Natasha stopped pacing and looked at him like he was something she wanted to kill. Tony looked at him agitated.
"Where have you been?" Tony asked.
"I went for a swim." Percy said.
They all looked at him.
"In the training room? The pool?"
All of a sudden Clint burst out laughing. Bruce joined in and pretty soon all of them were laughing except Natasha.
"You realize you were gone for two hours?" Natasha asked. "And you're not even wet."
Percy kept smiling even though he was cursing her in his head. "I dried off. What, you think I'm gonna walk around Tony's masterpiece house soaked?"
Tony seemed to lightened up a light at the compliment. But Percy could see Natasha didn't believe him fully. He couldn't believe he was that stupid. He defiantly didn't want the Avengers knowing about his powers.
"I'm just going to bed." He said waking past the super spy.
"What no food?" Clint asked motioning to the pizza boxes.
Percy sighed and took a piece and a headed to his room. Ignoring the invites from the Avengers to join them.
"No thanks guys." He said. He opened the door to his room, Marveling at the space. His bed was in the corner, with a dresser next to it. The whole other side of the room was a floor to ceiling window. A bathroom connected to the room. Percy didn't really see any of that, though. He saw the guy in a jogger suit sitting on his bed scanning through his phone, with two snakes curling around it.
Percy didn't know wether to be worried or relieved.
"Hey Percy." Hermes said glancing up as he closed the door. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
"I don't think so, Lord Hermes."
What are we? Chopped liver? Martha asked.
Did you bring my rat? You owe me a rat. George said. Percy would've replied but the snakes were content on bickering with themselves.
"Oh," Hermes raised an eyebrow, ignoring the snakes. "What part of they can't know about Greek Gods do you not understand?"
"Sorry, I just saw a chance to find Annabeth." Percy raised an eyebrow. "And why are you here if they can't know about us?"
Hermes waved hand at him clipping the phone to his holder on his hip. "Right now I'm not even here, so don't worry. That reminds me, I've come to deliver a package."
"From who?" Percy asked. "And is it going to kill me when I open it?"
"Only one way to find out. I found it in my van, no return address." Hermes smile mischievously he set the package on the bed. The gods eyes rested on the pizza in Percy's hand. "Is that Pizza?"
"Yeah, uh here have it." Percy said holding the slice out to him. "I'm not hungry."
"Sweet, you rock!" Hermes took the pizza, biting into it. "Man, pizza's gotten better over the years. Look, if I were you, I would suggest getting back to camp as quickly as possible. Something's wrong over there, but none of the Gods can see what's going on. I don't know what but it's not good."
When is it ever? Percy decide to stay optimistic.
"Of and if you see Connor and Travis, tell them I'm making monster paintball a 'thing'. I'm proud!" Hermes said flashing him a peace sign and glowing brighter.
Percy just barely had enough time to cover his eyes before Hermes disappeared.
Wonderful. Percy looked at the package on the bed. What could possibly be in there? A bomb? Madusa's head? A book on how to avoid super spies? A bomb? A way to talk to Annabeth? A way to find Jason and Hazel?
Probably some type of bomb.
Percy crossed his fingers. And opened the box.
