The Devil and Blood

Its been a few weeks since the serious talk with Gavin and he now always gives me looks, showing his caring feelings towards me. I really loved the thought that Gavin was being such a sweetheart about everything. Even though its been almost three years since my long break-up with Will, my feelings towards a relationship at the moment were thin. I just wasn't ready yet.

Michael and Gavin were going to be filming a Rage Quit today in Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. They were setting up behind me while I edited the AHWU for next week. The only people in the Achievement Hnter office were Michael, Gavin, and I. Geoff had to leave because Millie was coming down with some type of sickness, Jack was busy with his now fiance, Caiti, Ray was just too damn lazy to come in today, and Ryan was in the hospital with his wife who was about to give birth to their daughter.

"God damnit, Gavin. You set it up wrong! Look at this shit! It's all messed up!" I heard Michael yell. Shuffling sounds erupted from behind me and I turned to see Michael struggling with Gavin who was trying to fix his mess. "No, Stupid! Not like that!" I laughed quietly to myself and stood up and walked over to them.

"What's the problem? You guys haven't even started filming yet."

"Gavin tangled the fucking cords all together and it's impossible to get them back to normal again." Michael sighed. I chuckled and grabbed the tangled mess and began to unwind everything. In less than no time I had the cords perfectly straight.

"There you go, dummies." I smiled and left the office, not wanting to have my ears ringing after Michael's loud yelling. I deicded to head into Burnie's office and check up on him. He was sitting at his desk looking over some paperwork. He looked up when I peeked my head in, a smile spreading on his face instantly.

"Hey, Jane. What's up? I'm just doing some paperwork for future conventions." He motioned for me to sit in the chair across from him. I sat down and smoothed out my ruffly, pink skirt. This morning I had decided to dress girly once again, wearing all pink and having my hair extra curled with a white bow on the top of my head.

"Nothing's up really. I just wanted to leave the AH office since Michael is going to be filming a Rage Quit soon."

"Oh great. Well, it's in his contract. Can't really argue with him on Thursdays." We both laughed and talked for about an hour. My body soon became drained and exhausted for some reason and I was slumped in the chair. My mind became fuzzy and distant, hardly focusing on Burnie's talking.

"Jane, you okay?" He asked. He was pretty much the only person who didn't call me Jay or any other nickname. I nodded stiffly and sat up a little straighter in my chair.

"Yeah, just starting to feel a bit dizzy." I struggled to say.

"You wanna go home and rest for a little? Remember, you're on the podcast tonight." He watched me warily, believeing I was going to tip over any second.

"Uh, sure. Yeah that'd be great." I stood up slowly and walked out of his office, rubbing my temples. I walked inside the AH office and collected my things.

"Where're you going?' asked Gavin. Their Rage Quit filming session had ended a while ago and still no one else was in the office.

"I'm not really feeling well. I'm kind of lightheaded. Burnie said I could go home for a bit and rest before the podcast."

"Well, you shouldn't be driving if you're feeling woozy. I'll give you a ride." said Michael and grabbed his keys that were next to the mini Tower of Pimps he won last week.

"Thanks." I smiled and looked over at Gavin. "Wanna tag along?"

"Nah. I have a meeting with these tech people in about five minutes. I'll see you for the podcast?" I nodded and waved goodbye to him. I followed Michael to the front and hopped in his car once we reached it.

The drive was quiet except for the hushed tunes that were playing as backround music.

"So, you and Gavin?" Michael asked, eyes still stuck on the road.

"What?" I asked.

"You and Gavin. You guys are banging secretly, right?" He cracked a smile.

"Seriously? Who are you? Ray? No we're just friends, Michael. Don't worry. I'm not taking your butt buddy away from you." I laughed and shook my head.

"Well, you guys give each other looks and not just any looks. More...intimate." He smiled even bigger and took his eyes off the road once just to give me a devilish gaze.

"Nothing's happening. He did ask me out, but I turned him down. Nicely, of course. I'm just not ready. Not since...."My voice trailed off once we reached Burnie's home. The front door was open and a very angry looking Ashley was standing in the middle of it. Her arms were crossed and she was staring up at a tall man. He was young though with dark brown hair and wearing a dark blue long sleeve and cargo pants.

"Oh god, no..." I said and covered my mouth with my hand.

"Who is that?" Michael said. He was moving his head around trying to see the person's face.

"How the fuck did he find me?" I said. My heart was beating faster than a hummingbird's wings.

"You know that guy?"

"Yeah. That's...Will. My ex-boyfriend. The abusive arsehole." My body felt numb and I didn't want to be here anymore, but Ashley was here and this was my problem and I didn't want to see anything happen to her. I reached for the car door handle and felt a hand go to my wrist.

"Don't leave! He obviously is looking for you. Ashley can coax him to leave the house."

"How the hell did he find out where Burnie's is? This is mental." Fuck you Gavin and your vocabulary.

"I don't know, but we should call Burnie. He might know what to do and going out there would be a fucking stupid idea, Jay." Michael pulled out his phone and dialed Burnie, obviously not waiting for my response.

"Hey Burnie, Jay and I are kind of stuck outside your house....It's Jay's ex-boyfriend. He's here at the house and Ashley is trying to make him leave, but I can tell he's not going to budge....Alright, see you soon."

"He's coming?" I asked, biting my lip.

"Yeah. He's also bringing Joel, Matt, and Gus with him. What the fuck is wrong with this guy?"

"He's psychotic. Apparently me breaking up with him fueled his anger so much, he wants to hurt me worse than before. After almost three years, he finally shows up. And when I'm in a different country, thousands of miles away from England!" I sighed loudly and brought my legs up to my chin and waited for the arrival of the Roosterteeth gang.

Only fifteen minutes later, they finally showed up in Matt's car. Will was still standing in front of Ashley, who was now looking more furious than a few minutes ago. Michael and I watched as the four walked up towards the house.

"Oh god..." I muttered and grasped Michael's hand. Michael seemed nervous too, but watched along with me.

Burnie started to stand in front of Ashley and began to talk to Will. Will started shaking his head and his face was now visible to me. It was definitely the same, but different as well. It looked more red and more furious. When Will was getting in Burnie's face, Joel and Matt grabbed both of his arms and pulled him back. Gus stood next to Burnie, observing the situation. Will then turned on the other two and began to yell at them. That's when I watched his fist being raised and come pelting down on Joel. Joel landed flat on the ground.

"Holy shit!" I yelled and grabbed the car door, opening it before Michael could grasp my hand tighter. I started to run towards the front of the house towards Joel. Michael was out by now, yelling for me, but I didn't hear him. I wanted to make sure Joel was okay. I ran up to him and knelt next to him, watching as blood trickled from his nose and mouth.

"Oh my god, Joel!" I looked up to see Will standing over me and Matt trying to pull him back, but Will wasn't just some ordinary guy. He was muscled, not too heavily, but decently muscled and he played eruopean football almost all of his life, which means those hard calves weren't moving an inch.

"Finally! Red-head over there said you didn't live here, but it looks like that was a pretty little lie." I watched as his hand grabbed my hair and yanked me up. Tears ran down my eyes and I saw Joel starting to stand up. Matt and Burnie were yelling and I watched Michael bolt towards us. Dogs barked and I believed I heard a neighbour calling the cops. "Here, you little bitch. I forgot to give you my going away present!" His fist flew down at me and hit my cheek so hard it made my teeth clash against my tongue and make blood pour out of the gash.

I then heard police sirens. So someone did call the bloody cops. About time! Will still had a hold of my hair when two male cops rushed out of their car and towards us.

"Let go of her, sir!" said one. His hand was touching the butt of his gun. Will threw me down and I landed hard on my chest. Michael ran up to me and helped me up, my weight being supported against his whole frame. Gus and Ashley were tending to Joel while Burne and Matt told one of the cops everything. The other copper was pushing Will towards the police car and buckling his hands with handcuffs. Will did give a bit of a fight with the cop, but soon realized he was going to be going to jail no matter what.

"Are you okay?" Michael asked, his hand touched my cheek. A gash was sliced across it and it was probably from Will's ring he always wore. Michael pulled his hand away, his fingertips looked like they were dipped in red house paint

"Yeah....yeah." I said, feeling weaker by the minute. Not fainting weak, but tired weak. The cops asked Joel if he wanted to go to the hospital, but being stubborn as he is, he refused and stood up like nothing happened. All though his body swayed a bit like he was on a boat. The man took a punch in the face for me. These people right here defended me, even though they've only known me for almost two months now. I love them. My dad made the right decision by calling Burnie up. If I had never met anyone at Roosterteeth, I don't know how my life would have turned out.
