Painting Secret and Let's Have A Baby
Barbs dropped me off back at my home with me still kind of shaken up about the whole thing with Matt and Ellie.
She tried to get me to speak about it, but I didn't give in and only shoved away at her questions. I was so happy to be home, hoping that Gavin would be inside.
Barbs helped me with the three bags as we rushed up the steps. The door was unlocked, signaling Gavin was home and I smiled brightly when I saw him perched on our sofa, watching some type of action film.
"Jesus, what'd you guys get? The whole mall?" Gavin stood up and grabbed the bag I was carrying while taking Barbs' as well.
"Necessities, Mr.Free." Barbara laughed. Gavin looked into all the bags and nodded.
"I wish I could've went," He mumbled. "I got my tux though and so did Geoff and Michael." He told me as he placed the bags next to the couch. I really did wish he came to, so that we could figure out our children's dress style, but Barbs seemed so happy to help that I'm glad she was with me.
"Well, that's good. After the women alter my dress for a four month pregnant woman, I can pick it up." I smiled.
"By the way, Michael and Lindsay are coming over in a little bit." Gavin informed me as I was making my way to the fridge to refill my hunger. What I was really trying to do though was try to distract myself from Matt's unsuspected arrival. I still couldn't believe what happened today and how one of my friend's was dating an enemy of mine. If only I wasn't pregnant...I could use a well-deserved drink.
"Awesome." I simply said before pulling out a small cup of yogurt. Barbs took the liberty of seating herself at the island, her blue eyes shining in a cute way. I could tell the shopping, wedding, and anything to do with my babies had her excited.
"Michael's going to help me undo the screws on the bed and take it to the garage below. They're also bringing some paint over so we can do the baby room. They wanted to help." He grinned and I couldn't help but feel happy about this. I was dying to do the babies' room--to really design and paint it the way Gavin and I would like.
"Can I help?" Barbara asked.
"Yeah! I have a feeling after the bed being ripped apart, the boys will leave the rest to the women." I said, earning an amused eye roll from Gavin.
"You don't have to." Barbs told me, but I shook my head. Pregnancy won't stop me from doing what I wanted.
"No way. I am helping. It's my babies' nursery." I told her as I licked the spoon of strawberry yogurt. Gavin was rummaging through the shopping bags, obviously intrigued by the many clothing items we decided to buy. It was adorable watching him study each article of clothing. "Find one you like?" I asked him, raising an eyebrow.
"You got so many! Does our daughter really need a tutu?" He lifted out a pale pink and white small, scruffy tutu. I stifled a laugh as I remembered Barbara begging and pleading for me to just get it. I didn't like it, but I said it would be a present from my daughter's Auntie Barbs.
"I didn't pick that out." I laughed, scooping another glob of yogurt into my spoon.
"I did," Barbs said and giggled when Gavin scrunched his nose and tossed it back into the bag. "Every girl needs to have a tutu when they are young. That's for age 2, I think." She grabbed it and checked the tag in the back.
"My girl isn't going to be into Disney princesses and unicorns," Gavin shook his head, coming around the counter to where I was, still staring at Barbs and the dreaded tutu. "She'll be a tomboy and enjoy video games, hopefully."
"What if she wants to dress like a princess and think about unicorns? You gonna stop her?" I asked him, turning to face him as I smirked and licked my spoon.
"Don't do that." He groaned, making me furrow my brows and shrug.
"Do what?" I scooped again, slowly licking the spoon while keeping my gaze fixated on his green eyes.
"Being all seductive with your spoon licking. You know I can't control myself." He snatched the spoon away, making me pout and having Barbara give him a disgusted look.
"Okay, gross." She shied away and offered to bring the bags to the guest room for us so she could remove herself from the uncomfortable sexual tension between Gavin and I. We waited around for almost an hour for Lindsay and Michael--watching telly or playing some video games to pass the time.
I was still eerily confused about Matt's appearance today. If I told Gavin, I knew he'd want me to stay away from Ellie just in case her boyfriend would be around, so I wasn't going to bring it up. In all honesty, I really liked Ellie because she was a funny, energetic girl with so much enthusiasm that I absolutely loved.
When the Jones' finally did arrive, it was raining hard outside, the noise of the water hitting the roof filling the whole flat. We left the door unlocked for the couple, so when they crashed right in, Lindsay's red hair and Michael's auburn curls were soaked and matted to their foreheads.
"Fucking rain," Michael muttered. "Of course, you would make me do this on a rainy day. God dammit." He shrugged off his coat as did Lindsay.
"You could have said no." Gavin said simply, obviously trying to get on his friend's nerves.
"Oh, fuck you." I noticed Michael holding two cans of paint as did Lindsay.
"Oh, what colours?" I heaved myself off the couch, hand pressed lightly to my stomach. My stomach was a decent size, but I knew very soon it would be twice as big. I was scared to give birth, especially to twins. My first time being pregnant and I have to pop out two little ones, it's a scary thought. I asked Griffon about when she gave birth to Millie and she told me it was very painful in the beginning until the epidermal sweeps in. But soon it's all over and you'll have to feel a watermelon sized baby being pushed out from you, except I'd have to feel twice the bloody pain.
"We got a pale pink, kind of like your hair," Lindsay grinned. "And a pale blue. The other two are green and brown because I have an idea. Unless...you want to use the basic colours." She shrugged and pushed Michael to bring them to where the guest bedroom was.
"What did you have in mind?" I crossed my arms as everyone followed the curly haired boy into the room, their shoes leaving damp marks on the floor.
"A surprise. I'm having Caiti come over later to help, but you can't see it. But like I said, if you want pink and blue, we can do just that." I was curious about Lindsay's plan and I definitely wanted to help, but I knew that when she had an idea, it was good so I didn't want to ruin her surprise.
"I'm gonna go with your idea that you have brewing in your brain." I laughed as she bit her lip and pumped her fist in the air. Michael was laughing as well as him and Gavin took care of the headboard on the bed first. The only objects was the be and a wooden dresser against the other wall.
"Have you taken apart a bed before, Gavin?" Michael asked, stopping his work on his side to glare over the mattress at the other lad.
"Um...no. Just have to loose the screws, right?" He smiled over at Michael.
"Yeah, okay, but you have to make sure while you're doing that," he pointed over to where Gavin's working fingers on the screwdriver were. "Make sure the headboard doesn't fucking crash into my head."
"Let's leave these ladies to work," Lindsay said and wrapped her arm around my waist, bringing me back out to the hallway with Barbs following close behind. "You and I have to talk about wedding plans, missy." The red headed girl told me and Barbs' eyes immediately lit up like a god damn Christmas tree.
"Like what?" Se ushered me on to a stool at the kitchen island.
"Well, Barbs told me about her promotion to Maid of Honour, so what about Bree? I mean, isn't she coming?" Lindsay leaned against the opposite side, resting her chin on the palm of her hand as Barbara took a seat next to me, her blond curls splaying out over her shoulders.
"I don't know," I said quietly, looking down at my nails that were painted a dark red. "She hasn't tried to contact me."
"She did with me." I looked up at Lindsay and furrowed my brows. Why would my best friend talk to someone else instead of me? I did tell her off a month ago when she told me about her cheating, but that didn't mean I didn't love her or want her at my wedding.
"W-What did she say?" I asked.
"She said she's sorry for what she did. She understands that she is wrong." She shrugged.
"She told you." I said, nodding. No one knew the situation except Ray, Michael, myself, and Gavin. Gavin was very upset about the news and thought it best that she stayed away from Ray.
"Yeah. It was pretty fucked up, let me say," Lindsay sighed. Barbs looked confused. "Bree cheated on Ray, Barbs. That's why she's not at the office," The blond gasped. "Anyway, she's staying with Brad and she told me, if you ever want to talk, to come to this address." Lindsay then took out a slip of paper from her back pocket and showed it to me. Bree's neat handwriting scrawled out street names in red pen.
"How did she sound on the phone?" I asked.
"Tired. I also heard a little girl talking on the other end." Lindsay laughed, but not in a happy way, just more confused and sad.
"I'll visit her soon. I-I just need to take a little while." I told her and she nodded.
Soon the lads were bringing out the wooden headboard, panting from the heavy work as they placed the board against the wall in the living room. After they brought out the mattress and then broke down the frame and dragged out the glossed dresser, Lindsay and Barbs were excited to work on the paint job.
Caiti arrived a few minutes after the boys tore apart the bed, her hairs long and wavy and her square glasses on her nose. "I'm so excited to start." Her Aussie accent seemed thicker as she clapped with joy.
"I need your artistic skills." Lindsay laughed as she hugged the small young woman.
"Jack said he'd come over to help you guys with the bed." She told Gavin and Michael who were both taking a rest with bevs and with Top Gear on the television.
"Thank fucking Christ," Michael groaned in relief. "If I had to bring that shit down, with the help of Gavin, I'd be fucked." He took a swig of his beer as Gavin gasped and pouted.
"I'm strong, you pleb. Tell him, babe." Gavin looked to me, pleading green gaze directed to me. I giggled and kissed his cheek.
"I'm marrying Thor's twin brother," His smile was silly as I turned away. "If only it was Loki though." I giggled as he shouted something at me as I followed the girls to the, now, nursery.
"What were you thinking?" Caiti asked as she looked around the room, her hazel eyes scanning the four-white walled space.
"Well...." Lindsay saw I was in the room and bit her lip. "I can't say with the pregnant engaged woman in the room."
"Oh, come on!" I whined and crossed my arms, my lips puffing out in a pouty manner.
"Sorry, but it's a surprise!" Lindsay squealed. "Please?" She clasped her hands together. I hesitated for a few seconds before sighing and waving my hands in the air.
"Fine!"
"Oh, I forgot I left the brushes and extra paint in my car!" Caiti grabbed her keys from her pocket and rushed from the room as I huffed and went to where Gavin and Michael were still. Jeremy Clarkson was driving away through a green field somewhere in England as a large military tank tried keeping up with him on tv as I sat in between the boys. I've always loved this show, my dad being an engineer for a career really had me intuned with cars, but right now I wanted to know what Lindsay was up to.
"Got kicked out?" Michael teased, twisting his bottle around on his leg.
"Yes. Apparently they want to keep it a secret." I said with an angry tone.
"Aww, my little honey is upset." Gavin said with a high voice, bringing me in his arms and rocking me back and forth like a baby. I looked up at me and have him a confused look.
"What the fuck are you doing?" I asked.
"Rocking my babies." Was his answer and I couldn't help but giggle at his reply.
___________
(Bree's POV)
"What colour?" I asked Madison as we sat at the coffee table, drawing random things on a piece of paper. Her blond locks were swept across her forehead as she studied the box of crayons between us, her chubby hands gripping a black one at the moment.
"I don't know. What do you think?" She hummed, tilting her head. Her two year old brain was really smart, so she was able to form sentences and even weird questions.
"Well, my favourite colour is green," I told her at the same moment Brad stepped out of his bedroom, buttoning up his black dress shirt. We were going on a simple friendly date tonight, so we were going to drop Madi back off at Alice's house. "How about that?" I smiled up at Bead, which he did back, one of his dimples popping and his hazel eyes squinting as he did so.
"I like that too!" Madi giggled, grabbing the green from the box and drawing a line straight across the paper. I really loved this little girl and her intelligent yet childish behaviour.
"You guys ready? Or do you just want to colour all night?" Brad chuckled. Madi picked up the paper and rushed to Brad, showing it to him.
"For you!" She smiled and he took it, grabbing her in the process.
"It's amazing. Great job." He kissed her temple and then her cheek as he walked over to place it on the fridge. My mind went into a zoned state where I saw, instead of Brad, Ray with a little girl in his arms. He was smiling and twirling her around as her equally black hair spun around and her large, doe brown eyes were shut as he went faster around.
"Bree?" Brad's voice sliced through my daydream and I looked up to see him looking down at me.
"Sorry," I chuckled and I picked myself up, brushing off anything from my white mini dress. "I zoned out."
"Yeah, I see that," He laughed. Once Madi collected her drawing materials and her bag we left to the car and placed her inside the seat Brad had installed just for her. "Ready for mommy?" He said to her and she shrugged, making the both of us laugh.
The drive was silent. It wasn't even dark outside since it was still the afternoon. I enjoyed the desert scenery that passed us by, a few cacti here and there. Madi was babbling away in the back about why she liked this certain type of colour crayon. Brad was smiling and taking glances at her through the front mirror.
When we arrived at Alice's, I smiled and greeted her with a kind smile. She grinned back to me, her blond hair was braided this time and her glasses were off. Madi ran through the front door, his left hair tucked in and swooning as she rushed inside.
"Have fun!" Alice hugged me and then Brad before closing the door and is leaving.
We arrived at the small yet fancy restaurant about 15 minutes later, the baking Texas heat cooling down as we entered.
"Hello," the waiter that greeted us said. "Reservation or no?" He asked.
"Reservation for Teachman." Brad said and when the waiter nodded his approval he took us to a table that was set of in the middle of the busy place. I say across from Brad as he ordered us a bottle of white wine.
"So, Mr. Teachman," my conversation starter caught his attention and he laughed. "You getting tired with me yet?" I've been staying at his place the whole month away from Jane, Ray and anyone from Roosterteeth.
"Get tired of you? Huh, never," Brad chuckled, looking down at his menu. "That couldn't be anymore impossible."
"Riiiiight," I rolled my eyes, but I didn't waver my smile. "So me complaint about how the shower works and also borrowing your clothes now and again doesn't anger you?" Ray was always annoyed whenever I asked too many questions about an appliance or whenever I borrowed his shirts or sweatpants without asking. He was an organised person, but Brad was the total opposite.
"Nope. Although, if you ask me how to use the coffee machine again, I'll kick you out." He pointed a finger at me, making me laugh.
"Deal."
"Deal." Brad shook his head. "I think I'll get the Chicken Alfredo because I'm so original." He said.
"Just a Caesar salad for me. I'm not that hungry." I shrugged. When the waiter right back the wine and filled our empty glasses, he took our order.
"You look beautiful by the way," Brad told me, making me feel the blush creeping into my cheeks. "Was that too straightforward?" He laughed.
"No..." I giggled. I remember all the times that Ray would whisper how beautiful I was to him and I would agree with him, making him laugh his silly laugh. "I'm totally fine with it. Friends can say that." I nodded.
"Good because you are absolutely stunning," He raised his glass to me before taking a quick drink. "Madi keeps saying she wants to look like you when she's older." He told me and I chuckled lightly.
"I love that little girl." I said, more to myself than him.
"I can see that," Brad said, his voice faltering at the end. The table grew quiet at Brad's last words and I looked down to my lap, twiddling with my painted black and blue nails. "Letsmakeababy." Brad rushed out and I looked quickly up, eyebrows furrowing from his sudden quick speech.
"W-what?" I leaned forward. I knew what he said...I just wasn't sure if that actually happened.
"I-I'm sorry. I know this was supposed to be a friend dinner..."
"You want to make a...baby with me?" I asked him and his cheeks grew red with the thought. I stared at him for a few minutes, studying his embarrassed features and opened my lips to speak.
I raised my hand at the waiter coming our way, a different one than before.
"Check, please?" I asked him, making Brad widen his eyes. I just shyly glanced at him and held the small smile playing on my lips.
