"FUCK YOU, JAY!" Michael and I were playing a horror game for this week's RageQuit. He had me control the mouse while he had his fingers on the keyboard moving us around. Whenever he yelled right in my face, my only reaction was to laugh which made him even more red-faced and steamed. The RageQuit went on for almost an hour before Michael's foot hit the cords that plugged in the monitor and made the screen go black. "GOD DAMNIT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" I went underneath his desk, quickly plugging back in the cord only to find out that the monster chasing us had killed our character.
"This is your fault, Michael. You can't stay still during a video game. You need to control yourself," I said and poked his nose. The audio was still recording our voices and I could see the sound waves that were long from Michael's consistant yelling.
"WHAT?! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! IF YOU JUST KEPT LOOKING AHEAD INSTEAD OF TURNING AROUND EVERY FIVE FUCKING SECONDS-"
"Calm down. It's just a video game. Everyone loves you..." I decided on using the Joel-calming-method. Michael growled angrily before shutting off the recording software. We sat there, not moving or saying a word, but soon we started laughing at each other.
"Jesus. You spend too much time with Joel." He said and started putting away the mics. "I felt like I was Jack from the last RTX."
"Yeah, I guess you're right. Gotta take a break from the Joel Train." I giggled, moving Gavin's chair back to his desk. Gavin and Ray went to go do a Patch podcast so I was stuck with Michael and Jack in the AH office. Jack didn't really pay attention to us when we were screaming our lungs off, but instead had his Turtle Beach headsets on and was editing a Trials Pig video.
"Wanna go get some food? Lindsay and I have been talking about this great pizza place down the street." said Michael.
"Yeah, sure. Can I go ask Bree if she wants to go?" I asked.
"Yeah, of course. I'm gonna go get Lindsay, so meet us at my car." He smiled, ruffled my pink hair and headed off to find his fiance. Michael's seriously like an older brother to me. He always makes fun of me, but is sweet and protective when he wants to be. He always keeps an eye on Gavin, making sure he doesn't pull something that ends up with me crying or feeling depressed. It's sweet, but it feels like he's a mix of Burnie and Geoff.
I collected my Pikachu bag, wallet, and mobile before heading out in search of Bree. Bree and Ray were so close to each other that it was hard to get a word to her at all. She never really slept at Burnie's anymore, but preferred Ray's flat instead. Here at the office, they kissed or cuddled on the white sofa and would whisper with each other. It was gross to be honest, but I was just glad she finally found someone that cared about her a lot.
I kept searching the office, but couldn't find any trace of my best friend. Barbara was coming out of Joel's office when I rounded a corner.
"Hey, Barbs. Have you seen Bree?"
"No I haven't, but you might want to try Burnie's office. He said he wanted to speak with her a while ago." She said, moving away a piece of her hair behind her ear.
"Thanks, love." She smiled and we both went our seperate ways. I walked up the stairs and to Burnie's office. The door was closed, but voices from behind the door could be heard. Being sneaky, I pressed my ear up against the door. The voices were a bit muffled, but I could still hear them clearly.
"I don't know. I don't think it's a great idea." That was Bree.
"Why not? I think you'd be perfect for the part. It may be awkward at first, but you'll get over it. You may even end up liking it." Burnie said, laughing.
"It's just, I don't want things to end badly with Janie and I and I'm also with Ray so he might become angry over this."
"I know, but it's not real. It's fake." There was a long pause before Burnie spoke again. "What do you mean 'end badly with you and Jane?'". At that point, when I heard my name, I decided to enter. Bree and Burnie were sitting across from each other. Bree was biting her nails and Burnie sat at his desk, holding a pen between his middle and index finger.
"Hey," I said, Bree had stopped chewing her nails when she saw me and smiled smally. "I was looking for you."
"Oh, I was just talking to Burnie here. He wanted me to be part of a video they're doing for Youtube Comedy week." She said. Her tone was so nervous that I couldn't help but dig a little deeper.
"Oh really? That's so cool. What's it about?" I sat down in the chair next to hers and laid my Pikachu bag on my knees. Burnie spoke before she could answer.
"It'sactually really funny. It's called..."
"I'll tell you soon, Janie," She looked over at Burnie and tried to give him a courteous smile. "Thank you, Burnie. I'll think about it." She moved out of her chair and grabbed my arm, pulling me up and out the room.
"Why'd you interrupt him?" I asked. I was walking with her to Michael's car. She didn't know where she was going, but I could tell she didn't want to be near Burnie's office.
"It wasn't his place to tell you. I wanted to tell you myself."
"Okay then. What is it about? It can't be that bad." I didn't say I heard them say something about me and decided on playing a bit dumb.
"I'll tell you in a few weeks." She said as we approached Michael's car. Lindsay and him were already in; music blasting through the open windows.
"Come on, bitches. Don't have all day." He said. I heard Lindsay's laughing come from the passenger seat.
"Where are we going? Janie didn't even tell me." Bree said. I just rolled my eyes and glared at her. I was so curious as to what she was keeping a secret and couldn't help the anger building up inside me. I didn't want us yelling at each other in the car so I sat there, simmering while Michael drove us to the pizzeria a few blocks away.
The car ride to the restaraunt was silent, but not uncomfortable. Except for maybe the silence between Bree and I. Michael pulled into the restaraunt parking lot, while blasting Greenday. He turned off the car and we all climbed out and moved towards the pizzeria entrance.
A waitor brought us to a booth and handed us a small menu. It was a pizzeria, so it obviously didn't have that many choices.
"So, Bree. How're you and Ray?" asked Lindsay, she smiled big.
"Amazing. I didn't think I could fall in love this fast." Bree giggled. Michael and I groaned together, but that just made the other two laugh.
"Aw, come on, Mikey. You fell in love with me on the first date." said Lindsay, gently nudging his shoulder.
"It was more like a deep liking. I just wanted to see if you were good in bed." He laughed while Lindsay smacked the back of his head with her hand, making the whole table laugh. "Hey! I was just kidding, you bitch." He kissed her cheek and Bree started cooing at them, making Michael flip her off. We gave our drink order to the waitor that stopped at our table. Since Bree has been dating Ray, she's decided on never drinking again since Ray had the habit of never drinking a drop of alcohol. I would say I was proud of her if I wasn't already angry.
My mobile buzzed in my pocket, so I whipped it out and saw I had a text from Gavin.
Hey love. Where did you go? :/
I texted him back, thumbs drumming against my mobile.
Just went out to lunch with Michael, Lindsay, & Bree :)
There was no reply after I sent mine and thought it odd Gavin wouldn't say anything. I just shrugged it off and put the thought in the back of my mind.
The rest of our lunch was good. The pizza was actually really amazing and I soon forgot about Bree's talk with Burnie. We left the pizzeria, slightly buzzed and very full. Lindsay was the least buzzed, so she drove us back to the office. We sang a few songs in the car which only led to all of us fogetting the lines and creating or own. We arrived at the office, all of us stumbling out of the car.
Kara was there at the desk as usual with a phone pressed up to her ear and writing down notes on a pad. We all said goodbye to Lindsay, who recieved a big kiss on the cheek from Michael. The three of us headed back to the AH office, but only Jack and Gavin were in there. Since Jack knew about Gavin and mine's relationship as well, I didn't care if I showed any affection in front of him. Gavin was sitting at his desk on his mobile, but once he saw us coming in, he put it away and motioned for me to sit on his lap. I did and wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his head.
"Hello, love." He said and smiled. There was something behind that smile though. Not just love or that damn spark. Curiosity? Nervousness? I didn't know. I brushed away that feeling and smiled.
"Hi. How was the Patch?" I asked.
"Great. Y'know, video games, beer, and sometimes me being stupid. The usual," He laughed. "You ready for our dinner date tonight?"
"I don't know. That pizza made me full. I feel like an overstuffed turkey." I poked my stomach. Gavin laughed, shaking his head.
"Well, if you don't want to..."
"No no! I do. I may need a tiny break before we do anything though." I laughed.
"What like bang each other?" Ray came in, drinking a water and running a hand through his hair.
"Shut up, Ray!" said Gavin and he hit his friend on the stomach while he was walking by. Ray chuckled, heading to his desk. Bree sat on the floor next to him, leaning against his computer chair.
"We'll still go to dinner, Gavy. I want to dress up and look pretty!"
"You don't need fancy dresses or makeup to do that. You're pretty...no, beautiful just like this." He smiled and poked my nose, making me giggle. Michael started groaning, but Bree was "awwwing" us. I kissed Gavin's cheek, making him blush a deep shade of pink.
