Lunch Date and Piglet

Gavin and I decided to leave the office once Geoff and Burnie were out of sight. Michael and Ray said they would keep their mouths shut and make sure not to spill anything to anyone.

"So, you guys are going on a date?" asked Michael, his hands folded under his chin. He leaned back in his chair and watched us getting ready to leave.

"A friendly outing," I said and smiled a little at Gavin. I didn't want him to think we were going on a date. I may have accepted his offer on lunch, but I was going to let him know I didn't mean to make this a daily routine.

Gavin nodded towards me and pulled on his Achievement Hunter jacket. Michael and Ray looked at us. Their eyes saying "bullshit", but I glared back at them, trying to change their little minds. But to no avail, they keep giving me the same look.

"Well, let's go." I said, grabbing Gavin's arm and pulling him towards the door and out the main entrance, not wanting to be under the stares of the others.

"So, I can't drive. You'll need to drive us." Gavin said and chuckled a little.

"Well, this bloody sucks. I can't drive either. I don't have my liscence here yet. How about we walk to somewhere close?" I asked him. "Do you know anywhere close by?"

"Uh, yeah. There's a small cafe just down the road. It'll probably take us at least five minutes." I smiled and followed him out the gate and to the right. We talked about many things including movies, tv shows, video games, and even cats. He told me about his cat, Lloyd, back home. Apparantly he misses him a lot and can't wait to go home and record more Slow Mo Guys with his friend, Dan.

"I actually watched some of your guys' videos when I was on break." I said, looking at the ground.

"Oh really? What'd you think? Pretty top, right?" He smiled at me and I couldn't stop my heart from skipping a beat or two. I may not know him well enough, but so far he makes me feel warm and happy inside.

"Eh," I decided to say. Messing with Gavin or any of the other boys has become one of my favourite things in the world to do. I watched as his face became confused.

"What does that mean?" He asked. I laughed and shrugged, using that as my answer. We finally came upon the cafe. It was small, but seemed cozy enough. We decided to sit outside instead of sitting with the other customers. The Novemeber air chilled me to the bone and a shiver ran throughout my whole body. Gavin noticed this immediately and took off his jacket, handing it to me. I refused, but he insisted, making me take it from his hand and slip it around me. The smell it gave off was a nice, musky scent that made my insides become fluttery.

Our waitress came over and asked us if we wanted anything to drink. She was really gorgeous. Her hair was a soft shade of auburn that fell to her shoulders, her eyes were a dark blue that looked like gems, and her skin was a glowing caramel color. Her looks made my pink hair and pale skin seem less attractive to me by the minute.

"I'll have a coffee. Black." I said, pulling Gavin's jacket closer around me. I was never really big on the whole sugar and cream thing when it came to coffee. Just the taste of the rich, dark liquid was enough; adding anything to it was absurd to me.

"A beer on tap." Gavin smiled at the waitress. Once the waitress heard his accent, she smiled bigger and winked, walking away with our drink orders.

"Wow, she was really pretty." I said. I rested my chin on my hand and watched as Gavin looked down at his menu.

"Didn't really notice." He shrugged. I raised my eyebrow, but didn't say anything else. Instead, I picked up my own menu and read through the cafe's food list. The waitress soon came back with my coffee and Gavin's beer. She asked us about our food, but her stare only stayed on Gavin, even when I ordered my salad.

"So, what made you want to come to Texas?" Gavin asked, once the waitress was gone.

"Well, I just came to Texas because my dad knows Burnie and said he could get me a job out here. I wanted to leave England for a while. I didn't have such a great life the past few years and I really wanted a fresh new start." I told Gavin about my mother and father's divorce and also about her becoming an alcoholic, about all of the college refusals, and even about my ex-boyfriend, Will. Gavin tensed once I told him about what my ex did to me and I put on a reassuring smile.

"Glad you're not with him anymore. Otherwise, I might have to show him a thing or two. He definitely didn't deserve you." Gavin said, taking a gulp of his beer.

"Well, you won't see him. He's all the way back in England. Probably abusing another helpless girl. He's actually the reason I've been scared to be in a relationship anymore." My eyes look away from Gavin and stare off at nothing in particular. Whenever Will came up in a conversation, my mind would just go back to those horrible nights when he would come back to our flat, plastered and angry. When he saw me, he would use his anger and take it out on me by repeadetly hitting me or forcefully make me give myself to him. I felt a hand touch my own and when I turned back, Gavin had his hand on top of mine with a comforting smile on his face. The waitress came and brought our meals. When she saw Gavin touching my hand, she quickly walked away, not saying anything. She probably thought we were a couple and believed her chances with him were gone.

The rest of the lunch involved us eating our food and talking so much I was actually starting to become light headed. Gavin made sure that my mind was away from Will and all of the other crap I had dealt with back home. We soon finished our drinks and meals. Gavin paid the bill, even though I tried to grab it before him. He said it wasn't proper for a lady to pay for a meal. I told him I wasn't a lady and he told me I was as stubborn as Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. I smiled at that, since I'm a huge fan.

We left the small cafe and headed back towards the office, talking some more. Once we reached the building, I pulled off Gavin's jacket and tried handing it back to him.

"Nah, keep it. I have another one at home and since you're part of Achievement Hunter, you need one." He smiled and I thanked him for it. I hugged him, but before I could pull back, Gavin planted a soft kiss on my cheek. A blush crept up into my cheeks, making me as pink as a Piglet. Barbara definitely now has a reason to call me that. Gavin smiled once again and left inside the front doors before I could reply.
