Little Haywoods and Perfect Venue

"Fuck you, Jane!" Michael yelled at me, his eyes blazing with playful anger. The AH group was over at his place, having a BBQ and hanging out. At the moment, Ray, Michael, Geoff, and I were in a very serious game of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 since his Ghosts disk was too scratched. Ray may be the best out of the whole group, but my skills were second. We were in the map Standoff, my favourite one, so I had the advantage.

"Camping behind that fucking car wasn't a slick move, Mikey." I giggled as he pushed me playfully. Gavin and Lindsay were on the apartment balcony where she was teaching my fiancé on how to cook a steak properly. It truly was funny that she was helping a grown man out with something they should all know.

"That's what Geoff does all the damn time." Michael waved his hand at the tattooed man sitting next to me on the opposite couch.

"Yeah, but he has technique. You're used to causing chaos, so stick to that." I laughed as I shot him once again as he tried to climb the tank. He slammed his controller against the arm of the chair, making Ray laugh too hard to notice Geoff's form behind him. We were on teams: Ray and Michael against Geoff and I.

"There is no such thing as technique while being a dick." Michael shook his head.

"That's not true," Ryan came up with a beer in his hand and leaned forward against the back of Geoff and mine's couch, his smile large. "You have some great skill." He took a swig of his beer.

"You know, Ryan. I think you should stick back to being a hermit at your house. I'm starting to wish you didn't hang out outside of work." Michael groaned as I knifed him in the back. We were playing with bots, but they were so shit that it was pretty much just us four.

"See! Perfect skill." Ryan laughed. His wife and two children would be coming later and I was excited to meet the little Haywoods. Jack was too busy talking to his wife on the phone, probably retreated to Michael's room to talk.

Gavin soon came back in, his Team Lads shirt stained with grease and I think some sauce. "God, I hate barbecuing."

"It's a man's job. Lindsay's doing it." Michael said. I scaled the wall in the game, following one of the bots right when a sniper shot the back of my head.

"Fuck you Ray." I grumbled. He laughed in joy. His phone gave off a sound, making him root it out of his pocket.

"Gotta take this. Ryan, Gavin, one of you jump in." He took off the couch and put the phone to his ear. Gavin had to go change his shirt, making Michael pissed since he has to wear one of his. Ryan jumped in, immediately taking out Geoff.

"Dude, I can't wait to meet your son and ask him what music he listens to." Gavin said as he came back wearing a plain black tshirt.

"I'll just tell him to kick your nuts." Ryan shrugged, killing me in the process.

After another hour of playing games and calling each other names, Lindsay was done with cooking the steaks, so it was Michael's turn to do the other part of the food.

"How does it feel?" Lindsay asked as we sat at the outside table, the sky was still a pastel blue and it was a clear less sky today so you could see anything flying through.

"Being pregnant?" I asked and she nodded. "Weird. I mean, there's not only one, but two children growing inside of me. It's fucking strange." I laughed. When I told Lindsay about the twins, she was screaming with so much joy I though she's kill her throat. Barbara and Kara were the same. I would've told Bree, but she hasn't made contact in over two weeks.

"Michael and I have been trying," She said shyly an I leaned up in my seat more, a huge smile on my face. "But so far nothing."

"You will. Oh God, could you imagine? A little Michael running about with the same curly hair and temper. Fucking hell." I laughed.

"We'd need a priest." She giggled and I agreed. The doorbell rang through the apartment and I suspected it was the rest of the Haywood family. I felt a smile tug on my face as I quickly moved off the chair I was in and left inside. His wife was a lovely woman with almost the exact same caramel coloured hair as him. Her brown eyes were always squinted in a light smile as she ushered in their son while holding their daughter on her hip.

The little girl was too busy sleeping on her mother's shoulder, but their son, Elijah, was already running around, mostly chasing Gavin around as my fiancé pretended to be scared by him. It was such a cute sight that I couldn't help the way my hand was touching my stomach in a motherly way.

"How far long are you?" Ryan's wife asked. We were both sitting on the couch, her girl on her lap.

"Four months." I smiled to her.

"I hear you're having twins. I'm guessing that'll be it then." She laughed while combing her fingers trough her daughter's short blond hair.

"Yeah, probably. It's a boy and a girl. I got both, so no doubt this will be it." I nodded. I looked over my shoulder to see Gavin holding Elijah against his chest, protecting him as Ray tried to take him away. Ryan's wife looked to where I was watching and chuckled.

"You know, I never saw Gavin as a father, but truthfully, he seems ready. I saw videos with him and Millie, but it was more brother and sister. This though...I can tell he'll be a great dad." She said and I totally agreed with he theory. Gavin was a child, even in his adult years, but that'd be a good thing for our kids. He'd probably be the more fun and Disney-like dad while I'd be the one with the rules and consequences--the bad cop.

Once the BBQ was ready, some of us sat in the living area--Lindsay, Michael, Gavin, and I-- as the others stood around in the kitchen with their plates. It was good, a few burnt parts here and there, but that's usually good, so I didn't mind. So far I haven't had any specific cravings or any food that makes me nauseous. I actually am disappointed because I wanted the real experience of pregnancy, but I guess I just got "lucky".

Ryan's son came running over to where we were all sitting, his smile showing tiny little teeth in his small mouth. "Hi." He said in a tiny voice.

"Hi." I smiled back to him.

"Do you have a baby in there?" I points to my stomach. "My mommy says you do." He rubbed his cheek with his hand as he waited for me to speak.

"Not just one, but two." I held up two fingers. Gavin was watching from the corner of his eyes, a smile on his face as he also tried to concentrate on Michael's voice.

"Two?!" Elijah opened his mouth and eyes wide.

"Yes," I giggled. "Two little babies."

"Can I feel?" His voice went lower in a shy tone and I found that absolutely adorable.

"Of course," I laughed. His shy expression dissolved as he came closer and placed both hands on my growing stomach. "You may not feel anything yet." I told him. Gavin had his full attention on both of us now and I smiled to him as the little boy leaned a little closer to my stomach.

"Hi, little babies," He said and I felt a bigger smile tug on my lips. "How are you in there? Are you cozy? I hope so. I like your mommy, she's very pretty and nice. Your daddy is awesome too. He's crazy," I laughed at his statement and saw Gavin rolling his eyes playfully. Lindsay was watching from her couch as well, her eyes wide with adoration. "I just wanted to say hi and I can't wait to meet you...if my mommy and daddy will let me." I laughed as he moved back.

"That can arranged." Ryan chuckled as he picked his son up and smiled down to me.

"Of course." I nodded.

"Hey, Elijah. Can I ask you a serious question?" Gavin raised his head to look at the little boy in Ryan's arms. He nodded his small head. "What kind of music do you listen to?" That made the whole group start laughing, even though I didn't get it.

"Fuck off, Gavin." Ryan shook his head, but there was an amused smile painted across his face.

Gavin and I stayed a little longer before I grew kind of tired and Gavin said I should probably rest. Michael offered to drive us home, so we climbed into his car before he started the engine and drove away.

____________

"This was the only place that gave off that forest like feeling." Barbara shrugged as she led Gavin and I towards a large glossy wooden, mansion sized building. The outside was stacked with longs, carved in vines and intricate designs were lining the outside, definitely giving me a good feelings. "There are woods in the back too." She smiled as she opened up the huge double doors.

The foyer was marble and wood together. The floors were a crystalline marble with veins of gold and black. The walls had the same logs as outside with the same vines crisscrossing along them. In each corner, tree trunks rooted through the floor to tower over us and push through the ceiling, the branches rubbing along the ceiling to the middle of the cathedral roof.

"Wow, this is top." Gavin said, looking around as well. The room we were in was small with another pair of great oak doors leading to another room. Wen I pushed them open, the next room was definitely going to be the ceremony place. It was a medium sized room with moss coloured walls with high wooden beams tracing the ceiling and up the walls. The floor was hard wood, light stains blotting the floor but giving it that old feel.

Large windows let in natural light and also beamed against the parts where a large tree roofed through the far middle of the room where Gavin and I would probably stand, it's branches twisting upward and crashing through the ceiling.

"Makes you feel like an elf, huh?" Barbs laughed as she followed next to me.

"Oh yeah," I giggled. "I feel like I could be the next Lady Galadriel."

"You and your Lord of the Rings nerdiness." She shook her head, but her beautiful smile told me she enjoyed it. She next brought us to where the reception could be held. The room was larger than the ceremonial room but with the same style and even more trees were pushed into the corner. "I was thinking we could hang tea lights in little bottles high up to give it mood lighting." She suggested.

"Are you our wedding planner or something?" Gavin asked. He was a little further behind us, letting me probably take it all in.

"Jane brought me along, so I'm pretty much one. So yes, I am. Got a problem with it, Gav?" She raised a blond eyebrow at him, challenging him. He raised his hands in defense.

"Thank you, Barbs. This is perfect." I told her and she gave me a side hug.

"Love, I'm gonna go find the restroom. I seriously need to go." Gavin said and I nodded. He kissed my cheek before going in search of the loo and to relieve himself.

"So, you want it here then? The back is a large grass lawn with woods as well--just in case you want to take it all outside." Barbs shrugged.

"Yeah I like it...a lot," I chuckled. I turned to her, stopping her before she moved any further. "I have a question to ask you. I've been sitting on this thought for a little while, but now I'm sure I want to ask you." I told her. This thought has been corrupting my mid for a while. I've tried to put it off, but I can't help it when it keeps infiltrating my thoughts.

"Okay, what is it? You want to marry me instead?" She joked, making me laugh.

"No! I was going to ask you if you wanted to be my Maid of Honour." I said and chuckled at the same time.

"I-I thought Bree was your Maid of Honour."

"To be honest, I don't think she's even coming. She hasn't tried to call me back or anything. I've just decided to revoke that honour from her." I told Barbs and she looked sad from what I said. She places a hand on my shoulder, bringing me into a soft hug, but her gentleness didn't last long until she began jumping up and down.

"Yes! Yes! I will!" She giggled, flailing her arms in the air.

"Good," I laughed. "I've decided that I want the bridesmaids dress to be red. Not a bright red, but more subtle. The groomsmen will be wearing red ties, as will Gavin and my bouquet will be roses." I thought of how Ray was very insistent about that detail.

"That sounds awesome. Black and white wedding with a splash of red. That's hot." She laughed. Gavin soon came back as I told him about my sudden change of mind on my Maid of Honour. He seemed more pleased than I thought about having Barbara be the woman next to me instead of Bree.

"So is this the place?" Gavin asked, throwing his arm around my shoulder.

"I think so. I like it and the woodsy feel. My kind of style." I told him.

"Then it's settled. We'll have it here." He smiled.

"I'll call the owner. I think she said there was at least two more openings." Barbara said as we walked back to her car. So, we had the venue and reception, bridesmaids and groomsmen, colours, and my dress. Gavin just needed to get his tux. Apparently Ray already had his since he's "Tuxedo Mask", so later today Gavin was going to go with Geoff and Michael to get theirs.

"Hey, since you and Michael are going out and getting your shit, I'm gonna kidnap your pregnant fiancé," Barbara said as she drove. I laughed as she said kidnap. "Possibly go get drinks and hook up with hot single men." She teased, but Gavin gave her a fuck no look.

"I will murder you if you do that." Gavin told her, trying to be threatening, but Barbs only laughed at his seriousness.

"Don't worry, love. That will never happen," I told him from the front seat. "Although, if I run into Donnie and Fabio again, that's a whole other story." I said quietly so only Barbara could hear and she laughed loudly.

_____________

(Gavin's POV)

"Don't you already have a tux?" I asked Geoff as he tried on a black blazer over the white vest.

"Yeah, but I prefer to be fresh and crisp at a wedding." He said.

"Get with the program, Gavin." Michael was busy trying on a different version of a black blazer with a silver vest underneath. "Do you think Jane would let me wear a red checkered tie?" He asked me.

"She probably won't care, but I know Barbs will, so I wouldn't." I chuckled. I already had my whole suit on: the black blazer and trouser, a silk black vest underneath with a blood-red tie against my neck. I liked Jane's idea of a simple black and white wedding while the ceremony people got to wear some red.

"So, she's your wedding planner?" Geoff asked, coming up to me at the mirror while folding his cuff links.

"Apparently so. I don't care though. She actually has good taste. I mean, you should have seen the venue. It was incredible. Jane's eyes were practically bugging out of her bloody head." I ran a hand through my tousled hair to make it stand up a little more.

"I still can't believe you're getting married," Michael shook his head. "It was weird for me getting married, so you is just fucking insane." He slapped a hand against my back, purposefully trying to hurt me.

"And you're my best man. That's even weirder." I laughed.

"Well, I have to be. I'm the only friend you got. Everyone else at the office isn't." He smiled, dimples poking out

"Thanks, Michael." I rolled my eyes, but I was laughing as well.

"Alright, I'm getting this one." I told them and they both agreed with my choice. After Michael and Geoff found theirs, we purchased our tuxes and stuffed them in Michael's car onto the little pegs against the doors. We then decided to go to a nearby bar to eat and have a few bevs. I still couldn't believe I was getting married in a little under a month. Who would've thought?

_________

(Jane's POV)

"Where are you going on your honeymoon? Or are you not going anywhere because of the babies?" Barbara asked me as we were at the food court in the shopping centre.

"I really would like to," I shrugged, picking at my pizza. "I was thinking New Zealand." I smiled shyly.

"What?" Barbs laughed as she caught my shy reaction.

"I want to go because that's where they filmed--"

"You fucking nerd!" Barbara yelled playfully tossing her napkin at me. A few people glanced at us, but the whole place was bustling with people so were weren't the odd men out.

"What?! I've always wanted go and Gavin said I could choose." I said. When I asked Gavin where he wanted to go, he gave me full charge of the trip. I wanted nothing more than to visit the beautiful landscapes of New Zealand and use my inner nerdy self to scour where they filmed the wondrous movies and books I have always loved.

"I feel like your whole world revolves around that." She shook her head as we for up and threw our trash away.

"I can't help it. I grew up with the shit and now it's permanently attached to me." I raised my hands in defense.

"Well, how about we make the nursery all fairy tale like." Barbs eyes were shining from the pure thought of helping to decorate my children's room. Oh, wow, I said my children. The feeling is definitely strange.

"First my wedding and now my nursery? Barbs, you are taking over. Maybe you should open up a store," I stopped and turned to her, spreading out my arms and smiling. "Barbs' Wedding and Nursery Ideas Galore!" We both giggled at the thought. No doubt she would bring up today's events on the Podcast.

"Sorry for being enthusiastic, Jane." She said. We toured the whole building for clothing and other merchandise. But when I say we shopped, I mean Barbara practically dragged me places and I knew she was trying to find a suitable baby clothing store.

When we did find one, she rummaged through the boys section first, pulling out little caps or shirts. When we hit the girl part, she was handing me dresses, beanies, and little shoes that would make everyone coo. I haven't been shopping at all for my coming children, so getting some clothes now with Barbs was actually better than being by myself.

"I seriously cannot wait to meet the little bums." Barbara squealed as she carries two of the baby bags while I had one.

"Thanks for calling my unborn babies what we shit out of." I laughed. She scrunches up her nose, but she laughed as well.

"I didn't mean that." We were ready to leave with our bellies full of hot pizza and three bags filled to the brim with baby clothes, pacifiers, and even some toys that I couldn't pass up.

"Jane!" I heard someone calling my name while I placed the bags in the back of Barbs' car. I pushed my pink curls away from my face as I turned to see Ellier rushing up to me, her wavy brown hair pulled up into a ponytail.

"Oh, hi." I gave her a quick hug, smiling lightly.

"I can definitely remember that pink hair anywhere," She laughed. "I'm guessing you got some baby stuff?" She pointed to the bags in the back.

"Yeah, you know. Have to prepare." I shrugged.

"Yeah! I'm actually here with my boyfriend. He came all the way from London to visit. Would you like to meet him?" She asked me. She was by herself at the moment and only a few cars were parked in the parking lot.

"Where is he?" Barbs was already in the car, but I'm sure she saw Ellie so she's probably just waiting.

"Bringing the car around. We were in the garage over there." As she said that a black convertible pulled up next to us, pop music drifting out of the speakers.

The young man that sat in the front seat had his sunglasses on, but I knew him. That was 100% sure.

My breath hitched in my throat as he stepped out, removing his sunglasses and showing that his eyes were just as wide as mine. I was hoping to never see him again. That day in London when we bumped into each other at that small café made me hope that was our last encounter, but obviously that wasn't true.

"Jane? Oh, wow." He looked to my left hand which held my engagement ring.

"Matt...hi." I tried to smile, but it was weak and trembling. Who would've thought that the girl I met at RTX, my new friend, was dating my ex-boyfriend's brother. It made sense when she described him.

"He can be a dick sometimes and is terrible when it comes to alcohol. His brother was an alcoholic and even hurt his girlfriend. I'm trying to stray him away from that after what happened-"

Ellie couldn't even finish that sentence that day at RTX and now I know why.

"Hi." He smiled and pulled me into a small hug. I looked over at Ellie as she glanced between us, obviously trying to decipher how we knew each other. When he pulled away, he grasped Ellie's waist in one hand and brought her close to his body. "Sucks we didn't have time to chat back in London." He chuckled.

"Yeah. Sucks." I hummed and nodded.

"How do you guys know each other?" Ellie asked, glancing up at her fucking boyfriend.

"Oh...um..." Matt struggled to find the right words, but I knew he wasn't strong. He was also shamed by what his brother did, even though he led my best friend to her death just fine. "We--"

"School. We were good friends when we were younger." Which wasn't a lie. I was friends with Matt first before Will during secondary school and he introduced Will and I.

"I didn't know you were talking about this Jane." Matt chuckled, running his hand through his hair.

"I didn't know you meant this guy as your boyfriend." I joked, but it came out more accusing and bitter. It wasn't her fault, she didn't know.

"Oh, well," She blushed and giggled. "I wouldn't have guessed."

I heard a car door open and I was thankful that Barbs was coming around the car. I knew she saw the uncomfortable look on my face.

"We have to go," She said with a light smile. "Hey Ellie."

"Hey Barbs! This is Matt, my boyfriend." The both nodded to each other before she turned back to me.

"Ready?" She asked and I was so desperate I breathed out with relief. I smiled lightly to the two people in front of me before making my way to the passenger seat.

"It was nice seeing you, Jane! Maybe we can have a chat sometime." He joked and I just shut the door without saying another word. The problem was, Ellie was coming to the wedding and I don't doubt Matt was going to be her +1.
