Girls' Day and Getting Noticed

"I fucking hate you," I said while Barbara squealed as I accepted her offer on a girls' day. She asked over a million times and each time I refused. I knew she wanted to cheer me up, to get my mind off of Bree, which was sweet, but I only wanted Gavin's comforting arms and words. Her blue eyes settled in the puppy dog state and of course I caved in. Those blue gems were hypnotic. Also, when she found out about Gavin and I, on her own, she practically named herself the godmother of our children. She rolled her eyes at my insult, but her pouty pink lips were curled in a smile.

"Lets go to the mall first and get some cute clothes or whatever 'suits your fancy'," She said the last part with an over exaggerated English accent. I rolled my eyes, but I smiled as well, finding her hyperness adorable. "And then maybe manicures?" She drove us to our destination while she blabbed on about her plans.

"Yeah, sounds good. I do need some more band tshirts," I said, receiving a scoff from her. "And my nails aren't looking their best. My girls need to be primped." I waved my hand, making her laugh. An idea popped into my head. "How about we go to a salon too? I've been dying to cut my hair." My pink, curly mane touched my hips. I have never cut my hair before and I wanted a change. I just hoped Gavin wouldn't mind because I knew how much he liked my long hair.

"Why? Your hair is gorgeous! It's like you could be a human version of a My Little Pony!" Barbara laughed.

"I'll just throw some sparkles in and I'm sure I'll pass for one." We giggled in a girlish way and soon Barbara turned on the radio which blared techno music. I was willing to listen to new things. I mainly listened to 80s rock or heavy metal, but I was outgoing. I could see the shopping centre approaching, starting to feel excited to spend the day with my other best girl friend. With Bree laying solo in her own nightmarish world, Barbara was the only girl I could really talk to. I mean I could speak with Lindsay, but Barbara seems to get me more.

The blond beauty pulled into the parking lot of the mall. As we entered, a cool gust of wind blew back my pink locks and soon we were surrounded by shoppers, carrying their merchandise around.

"So, what first?" I asked Barbara. The blond smiled, wiggling her fingers to signal she wanted nails. I wasn't huge on the whole painted nails scenario, especially when someone touched mine, but I did need to do something with them. I bit my nails and they were chewed down. Barbara literally pulled me along behind her as we made our ascent on the escalator towards where a small nail shop was between a bookstore and a Game Stop. We'll definitely have to stop by there.

Inside smelled of nail polish remover and perfumed air, as if the owner didn't bother to freshen up the place. Barbara requested two manicures and herself a mani-pedi. She believed that if you got your fingernails done then you must match them with your toenails. I didn't really care to be honest.

A lady with a purple-red flower in her dark hair pulled me over to her desk. I sat down, feeling a little uncomfortable, but soon got over it because it's not like I was getting surgery. It's just a manicure for God's sake! Barbara sat behind me with another woman, her bubbly personality flowing out of her in waves of constant talking.

"What would you like?" My woman asked, splashing a light pink fluid onto my nails after she rubbed down the ends with a nail file. I bit my lip, unsure.

"Black?" It came out as a question. The lady looked at me, here eyes staring me down as she held my left hand in her own. "Um, black."

"Just black? Not a design? What about a nice red flower, like this one?" She touched the one in her hair. "I can paint that on top of the black." I turned to see Barbara listening to us and she nodded.

"Yeah! Do it! It will look amazing afterward." Her smile was utterly flawless. I must admit: she's definitely number one on my lesbian list. Well, next to Emilia Clarke, of course. The Mother of Dragons shall rule my heart!

"I guess we'll go with the flower!" I giggled. The lady smiled and grabbed the bucket of nail polishes from her desk, pulling out black and lava red bottles.

Like I said: I don't like it when people touch my hands or nails, but Tina, my nail lady, was amazing. She was delicate with the sanding of my nails. She had great precision when she coated my nails in the midnight black polish and when she did the red flower design on both my thumbs she was careful.

When our nails were finished, Barbara went to the pedicure station, sitting on the large blue chairs with the tubs and dipped her feet in when a woman filled it with water. I sat in one next to her, conversing as she got her toes done. She showed me her pastel blue fingernails that had silver shimmers coating the top. They looked beautiful.

"So, you want to cut your hair, right?" Barbara asked, popping the top of her Dr.Pepper the woman offered her. I had gotten an Arizona Tea.

"Yeah. I've never cut my hair before. Like literally...this hair has never felt a scissors' sharp blade." I ran a hand through my pink mane. Barbara giggled as the lady painted her toes identical to her fingers.

"Well, I think I'd be great for a change. You know? Spruce it up and maybe even dye it?" She waggled her eyebrows. Dye my hair? I've had these pastel pink curls for three years straight. I won't be so lenient. Also the fact that pink was the colour that made my golden hair, the same as my mum's, disappear, it was a symbol. To myself and to my mum, saying that I wasn't like her and I wouldn't mirror how she looked. Sounds stupid, but that's how I felt.

"I don't know about dying it. Gavin likes it like this and that's why I'm also scared to cut it. I know how much he likes it long." I bit my lip.

"I don't think that boy will care if you shaved your hair off. He is madly in love with you. I can just tell by the passionate looks he gives you on the podcast or when you guys cuddle on the couch in the Achievement Hunter office. I've never seen him act like that with another girl before." Barbara shook her head as she took a swig of her drink.

Her words surprised me. I knew Gavin loved me since he told me when we were in London, but I wasn't aware of how much he was in love with me. I never really took the time to notice, but obviously Barbs had.

"Just do it and we'll find out his reaction later. I'm pretty sure he won't throw a tantrum if you fix up your hair." Barbara continued. She was right. Gavin has been really supportive these past few days with the whole Bree situation, so dying or cutting my hair shouldn't be a big issue. But still...I didn't have the heart to dye away the pink.

Once Barbara's toes were baby blue with a rhinestone on each big toe, her addition, we went to the bookstore cause I needed a new novel. I've been re-reading A Dance with Dragons for far too long.

I loved the atmosphere in bookstores because I was a bookworm. An unhealthy one at that. I pretty much hoarded all my books over the past years and put them in boxes for fear of parting with them. I couldn't--they were my babies. I immediately went to the mystery section with Barbara groaning, telling me to pick up the pace.

"Shut up, Barbs. I need a book." I said, looking through the mystery novels.

"But it's a girls' day! That's when we do girly stuff or some crazy shit!" Her whine made me laugh. Luckily for her I found an Agatha Christie novel, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. I have read some of Agatha's stories and each one pulled me in. I purchased the book, keeping it tucked under my arm as if it were my child.

"We can still do crazy shit! The day is not over yet, young padawan." Yes...I loved Star Wars too. Barbara rolled her pretty, blue eyes.

"Oh my god!" I heard as Barbs and I exited the store. We turned to see a girl who looked to be 18 or so with dirty-blond hair and a tattoo of a thorned rose on her wrist. "You guys are from Roosterteeth!" She squealed as she came up to us, dragging along a boy with many tattoos and a lip piercing.

"Yup! Are you a fan?" Barbs asked, grinning from ear to ear.

"I've been watching you guys since the beginning. You all are so fucking hilarious! Gavin and Michael are my favourites," She laughed. "But you guys are my favourite girls there!" My eyes widened at her statement.

"I'm one of your favourites?" I seriously couldn't believe it. I had a fan! Well, I mean I knew people thought I was funny and adorable, that's what the comments said, but never had I believed them to be fans.

"Oh, yes. You are amazing! The way you crack jokes with Ray and Michael or fight with Gavin is fantastic. You two would make a cute couple." Her smile was precious.

"Wouldn't that be the day," I said and I could see Barbara's cocky smile from the corner of my eye. "What's your name?"

"Jess and this is my boyfriend, Andrew. He's a fan too, but a recent one. I just showed him your guys' videos. He likes Michael's Rage Quits." She laughed, holding Andrew's hand. I could tell he was uncomfortable. "Can I take a picture with you guys?" She held up her iPhone that had a case as Grr from Invader Zim. My jealousy spiked at the sight of it. All I had was a pink case to match my hair...I loved to match with the most randomest things. Invader Zim was an American show that I loved dearly--even if it was a cartoon.

"Sure and I seriously love your iPhone cover!" I smiled.

"Do you want it? I've been looking for a new one and trying to get rid of this one." Jess said, already beginning to take it off.

"Are you sure?" I said as she placed Grr in my hand.

"Yeah! If I can give this to anyone, I'm glad it's you." Jess stepped between Barbs and I as Andrew held up her phone to snap the picture. Once taken, Jess and Andrew said goodbye. I watched them as we walked away. Jess was literally bouncing in her step.

"Does that happen a lot?" I asked Barbara. She smiled, looping her arm through mine. I tore off my case and clicked on the beautiful Grr one, feeling satisfied.

"Sometimes. Once, I had a girl follow me into the ladies' restroom at our first RTX. She told me if I could sign her boyfriend's dick." I laughed so hard I thought I might cough out my throat. "He was a nice guy."

"You didn't!" I exclaimed, hoping on all belief that she did not write her signature on...a boy's thingy.

"No! But I wish," She giggled. We hopped onto the lift down, on our way to the salon. I looked at her incredulously and she smiled. "He was pretty fucking hot."
