First Let's Play and Alliances
I decided on making Burnie's morning a little more exciting on this beautiful Friday. I snuck out of the house wearing my Doctor Who tshirt and white-washed shorts, with my Metallica wallet in my pocket. I also grabbed Burnie's key off the hook near his door, hoping he wouldn't mind me taking his car. Before leaving the driveway, I pulled out my iPhone and searched for a donut shop since I didn't know my surroundings. There was one only five minutes away.
I pulled away from the house, cautiously, and drove off to the shop. I didn't have an American driver's liscense, but I'm sure there were no cops patroling around this neighbourhood.
I pulled into the parking lot where the donut shop was located and parked. I jumped out of the vehicle. Inside the smell of freshly brewed coffee and delicious donuts filled my nose. My empty stomach growled quietly, making me walk quickly to the front. I ordered a box filled with glazed donuts, ones with sprinkles and cinnamon(not for me though, I'm allergic to cinnamon), and two to go coffees. I didn't know how Burnie liked his, but I'm sure he would change it with the coffee ingredients at home.
I paid with the money my dad sent me and carried the food to the car. The drive back involved me singing Aerosmith songs and tapping my fingers against the steering wheel. After I pulled into the driveway, I snatched the warm bags from the passenger seat, grabbed the coffee cups, and headed inside. Burnie still wasn't up, but I'm sure the wonderful smells would arouse him to awaken to the morning.
Soon enough, Burnie appeared in the kitchen archway, hair ruffled and glasses in hand. He put them on and looked at the donut bags, dark eyes looking hungrily at the food.
"Donuts, huh?" he asked, walking towards the counter.
"Yeah, I just wanted to do something nice. You are letting me stay here." I chuckled.
"Well, your father is like a brother to me, so of course I would take you in," he glanced inside the box and pulled out a glazed donut. "Glazed donuts are my favourite." He said and took a large bite.
"I also got you coffee. I didn't know what you wanted, so I just got it black so you could do whatever you wanted to it." He smiled and added sugar in it. We ate our donuts happily, talking to each other about video games and upcoming movies.
We then decided to leave for the office once our bellies were full with pastries and warm brews. Burnie went to go change and shave some of his face. I saw a cat laying on the top of the couch and went over to him. His fur was soft and a tabby orange, soft under my fingers. My hand gently stroked his stomach, making him pur with satisfaction. I checked his collar for a name and saw Joe inscripted on the metal slab.
"You're such a cutie." I smiled as his little head rubbed against my palm, urging me to continue with the attention I gave him.
Burnie came out of his room and we both left to the office in his car, making his cat look at my longingly as I left out the door. The drive was silent, the radio turned off to let the hum of the engine travel into our ears. We arrived, parking in his reserved spot. The time was 8:23 in the morning and there were more people inside than I thought there would be. Kara smiled warmly as she saw us enter, standing up to welcome us.
"Hey guys." she said. Her short, blonde hair was in a ponytail, revealing her many earings in both ears.
"Hey Kara." said Burnie, smiling. He said bye to the both of us and went up to his office, letting us know he had much business to attend to.
"Hi, Kara. How's your morning so far?" I asked. I went to her desk and laid my arms upon the counter of it.
"I'm super tired. I didn't fall asleep last night because I was watching Breaking Bad." She rolled her eyes playfully. I laughed and we talked for a good ten minutes before I said goodbye and headed towards the kitchen. Before I could enter, voices stopped me. The voices belonged to Geoff and Gavin.
"She's off limits, dude. You heard Burnie and I agree with him." That was Geoff, the early morning making his voice raspy and crack at times. I heard clinking, someone was probably getting coffee.
"That's not fair. It's not like she's a teenager or something. How old is she?" That was definitely Gavin. You could tell by his accent and how whiny it could be. They were talking about me, they had to be. That made me more interested as I heard them go deeper in conversation. I leaned against the wall, moving my head closer to the kitchen.
"Twenty-three. Listen, like I said before, Jane is off limits. I'm afraid of what will happen if you do anything with her. Burnie might fire you." Geoff chuckled a bit. The conversation came to a close and that's when I decided to enter.
"Hey guys." I said with a fake smile. Geoff and Gavin both jumped. I laughed at their nervousness and grabbed a Coke from the refrigerator. Popping the top, I sipped the fizzy drink and smiled at them, an innocent smile that wouldn't be able to see past.
"When did you get here?" asked Gavin. His whole body was tense as he watched me.
"Just now." I shrugged and took another sip from my fizzy pop.
"Did you hear anything at all?" Gavin shifted uneasily on his feet, awaiting my answer. I decided to lie and say no. Both Gavin and Geoff tried to hide their relief, but I decided on pretend prying further.
"Why was it so secret?" I smirked and looked into their eyes. Geoff drank his coffee in gulps while Gavin started ruffling his hair.
"Just plans for this weekend. Nothing secretive at all." Gavin said. I shrugged and instead asked for today's agenda, actually interested to hear what was happening today.
"Well, Jack and I are doing a Fails of the Weak, then a Game Night," Geoff looked at Gavin, glaring at some inside joke between them. "Then a Minecraft Let's Play." Geoff finished.
"Can I join the Let's Play?" I asked. After watching everyone play just a simple game in GTA yesterday, I really wanted to delve in with them and actually try to become a part of their group.
"Well, duh. You're part of Achievement Hunter. You're going to be in all Let's Plays." Gavin smiled, a tiny spark flashing in his green eyes. I smiled wide and walked towards the office, a small skip in my step. Behind me I heard fast whispers, knowing that the two were relieved I hadn't 'found' out anything.
I entered the office, the warm Texas heat barely touching the air in here. The only two people inside were Michael and Ray, who both turned to see who came in.
"It's the other Brit!" said Michael, smiling, one dimple carving into his cheek as he grinned.
"I do have a name you know. Jane, remember?" I laughed and took a seat at my desk. I turned on the moniter for my computer then turned on the computer itself.
"Yeah, but that name's old-fashioned. Since you're more colourful with your pink hair and green eyes, you need a different name." said Ray.
"It's not like I picked it. If I had to choose it probably would have been Lily or Alice or Stormy Echo." I said while taking a sip of my Coke. Yes, weird choices, but I liked to think uniquely.
"Stormy Echo, what the fuck? What kind of name is that?" Ray and Michael laughed. I blushed and laughed with them, shrugging my shoulders. Soon everyone else came, including Ryan who set up on the couch near the door. We plugged in our micophones and headsets, beginning the game and tumbling into Minecraft. The theme of the Let's Play was find the Tower of Pimps #2, a tower Gavin made in the second Let's Play out of four gold blocks. Apparently, Geoff hid the Tower somewhere in Achievement City, their world, and also placed fake towers as well.
"Hey everyone we have new member of Achievement Hunter. Say hi, Jane." Geoff said into his mic.
"Heeeyyyyy." I said slowly. Everyone laughed at my awkward attempt to say hello to the public before we started to rush around in Achievement City.
______________
An hour in and Gavin had died a few times already, of course. Everyone went off on their own adventures, while Ray and I decided to team up secretly. We didn't speak most of the time, instead texting each other on our mobiles to let the other know if something happened. I had gotten everyone's number the first day, just in case I needed a reason to call them.
"Who keeps texting you?" asked Jack, who kept looking over at my lit up mobile.
"No one....It's just notifications." I simply said. I heard Ray laugh to himself and I couldn't help, but smile. I got a text from Ray.
Tuxedo Mask: Nice save xD
Me: Thanks, I try :P
"Okay, there is seriously something going on." said Jack again. Ray and I decided to go up to the surface, since we were both underground making weapons and armour, and go find Jack. We found him in a hole underneath, calmly preparing tools for himself. Ray silently dug down and put lava at Jack's feet. I followed that, adding lava from the top to encase him in an underground lava mine. "WHAT THE FUCK! GOD DAMMIT RAY! JANE, YOU'RE A PART OF THIS? They teamed up!" Ray and I laughed, running away from the scene we made, giggling like a bunch of school kids.
"What? Jane how could you betray me like that?" said Gavin. I laughed.
"What do you mean betray you? I didn't do anything against you, you knob!" Everyone laughed and I turned to see Gavin. His face was red, but he was laughing to. From embarassment or anger, I couldn't tell.
"Well next time we should team up and defeat these plebs." Gavin suggested.
"What and betray Ray? I don't think so. We're partners in crime." Ray and I moved away from our game to give each other high fives. I looked at Gavin, who was staring at Ray. Green eyes that weren't too friendly, but the anger soon was removed with focus at the game. The rest of the Let's Play included Ray and I still teamed up, Michael screaming at monsters, Geoff laughing his arse off, Jack disappearing, and Gavin being blown up by a creeper while Ryan killed random animals to make everyone shift away from him. Gavin found the Tower of Pimps first once more, but hid it. I soon found it while I was digging down to a cave and everyone yelled with laughter as Gavin hopped up and down in his seat. I quickly mined it with my iron pickaxe and ran fast, my character dashing across the screen.
When I came around a hill, Ray's character moved in front of me. "Jane, we knew this would happen sometime. Our Fellowship has broken. Hand over the tower and no one gets hurt." I could hear a smile in his voice.
"Don't do it, Jane!" yelled Michael.
Instead, I pulled out my diamond sword I made when I was in a cave earlier. Ray yelled "Oh fuck!" and ran around the corner.
"COME HERE, RAY!" I yelled and ran after him, not giving up the chase. He didn't get very far. I killed him, but didn't wait any longer. I ran to Achievement City, away from the attacking horde of men in the room. They all decided to get after me, except for Geoff who was floating and filming instead of playing. I made it to Achievement City, jumping from my chair and celebrating.
"DAMN IT!" yelled Michael, but the others laughed. My first Let's Play was a success.
