Envy and Beer Bet
(Ray's POV)
"That was selfish of you." I told Bree as we entered my apartment. On the walk home, I had given her a lecture and maybe I shouldn't have since I am just her boyfriend, not her father, but she had to realise that keeping it a secret was against the right thing to do.
"I said I was sorry," Bree turned to me after she shrugged out of her purple cardigan. "How many times do I have to repeat myself?"
"Until you stop being selfish." I said, matter-of-factly.
"I am not selfish!" She raised her voice and crisply stamped her small foot on the carpet, making me turn to her and raise and eyebrow. "Stop saying that!"
"Then what should I say? Hm? That keeping this from your friend and lying to her about it is okay? What if she does something that can change her condition right now?" I crossed my arms. Bree had to realise that her action was wrong. Jane was one of my best friends, like a little sister that I've grown to love with a brotherly tenderness. "You acted wrong, Bree and yes, it was selfish."
"Just stop," She was twisting her cardigan with her hands, obviously fighting the impulse to lash out again. "I am not selfish, I wasn't trying to be." Her voice lowered into a strained whisper and I could see fresh tears drip from her eyes and fall onto her tan cheeks. My body finally relaxed and I sighed. Seeing her sad and on the verge of crying always made me want to comfort her.
I walked back over to her and pulled her against me. "I'm sorry." I mumbled, chin resting on her head. She didn't cry nor whimper, but buried her face in my chest.
"I was just jealous." I heard her say and I closed my eyes shut, pulling her even closer.
_______
(Jane's POV)
"You're fucking insane if that's what you believe." I told Carrie, arms crossed and back against the cold headboard of my bed. How can she think that? There is no fucking way that it is true because it isn't. Nope.
"It's a possibility we have to consider, Jane. Just think about--"
"No! Because it's not the case!" I cut her off, making her roll her eyes and sigh.
"When was the last time, then?" She asked, crossing her arms, her dark, golden curls splaying out over her shoulders. She raised her perfectly plucked blond eyebrows at me.
"Two days ago." I grumbled, tugging at a loose hem on my comforter.
"Okay, what about before that?" She suggested and I wanted to throw my pillow at her.
"I don't know! I don't write it down in a journal each time!" I yelled which didn't even make her flinch. What she proposed was incredulous and even though it wasn't a big deal for me, I just didn't want to accept the fact. The proof was right in front of me and I couldn't even agree with her.
"Sorry," She raised her hands. "It's just that you're acting exactly like my sister-in-law did. So, it's obvious." She shrugged. "I thought you wanted this."
"I did...I do, but now? Only two days after my engagement? I'm not really ready." I shook my head and leaned it back against the polished wood of the head board.
"If I can get a way to check...will you do it?" She asked, straightening up and smiling a little.
"I guess so." I sighed.
_______
(Ray's POV)
I moved off of Bree, falling down on my back on the bed as I tried to recollect my breaths. She was equally huffing, her dark hair spilled around her in black waves. She had a huge grin on her face, her perfectly straight teeth showing.
After I had comforted her, I wanted to soothe her, make her more relaxed and forget about her jealousy towards Jane's condition. I was actually shocked that she chose that word for what she felt. Jealous. In my head I was happy by that she was, but then I was confused all at the same time.
"So," Bree moved onto her chest, the sheet wrapped around her, only exposing her back. She propped her head upon her palm, staring intently at me with her brown doe-like eyes. "You're not angry anymore?"
"I wasn't angry," I said, rubbing my face with both hands before turning back to her. I could never understand how lucky I was to have such a beautiful woman as Bree. Even though she had an ugly past, everything about her was perfect--from the way her chocolate eyes shined to the dimples in her lower back. "I was...frustrated."
"I understand," Bree nodded, playing with her fingers and avoiding eye contact. I moved a piece of fallen, midnight hair away from her face and tucked it behind her ear. "I'm sorry. I just was shocked and jealous. I don't know why. I'm...." She shook her head and sighed.
"I'm sure she'll find out sooner or later like Michael said. I wonder if Gavin's fine. He seemed to be in this daze where he's confused and surprised." I thought out loud. Silence grew between us as we pondered our thoughts, our breathing regular and controlled.
"I'm sure he's fine." Bree smiled and kissed me lightly.
_________
(Gavin's POV)
Barely engaged and already this? I was still shocked, but that feeling was starting to ebb away and let anxiety creep up on me. It was nerve racking to know that I was now due to be married, so another life changing thing will surely stack up the anxiety points.
"You sure?" Geoff asked as we sat on the sofa, not even watching the movie that played on the screen.
"Makes sense," I shrugged, taking a swig from my beer. "It's possible."
"Why am I not freaking out as much?" Geoff pondered and I had to chuckle.
"You're probably still in shock from our announcement." I shrugged. I was too scared to call up Jane and suggest the possibility of what the papers said. I don't know why, but it made me hesitant.
"Yeah, that could be it," Geoff nodded, playing with his mustache. He then turned to me, eyes opened a little more. "So, when are you going to tell the fans about you and Jane? I'm sure they'll go crazy about Javin tying the knot." He chuckled as he used out ship name.
"Whenever she wants to," I said. "It's her call."
"I can see who wears the pants in this relationship," Geoff sighed and I smacked him on the arm, causing him to laugh. "Ease up, buddy. If you want you're paycheck, you'd better be more careful."
"I'll take my chances." I snorted.
________
(Jane's POV)
"You didn't have to run out of here like a fucking maniac to make a damn point." I snapped at my curly haired friend who rose her brows at me, a smirk on her full lips.
"Look whose moody." She giggled, holding the white plastic bag between her thumb and index. She just had to rush out of my house to get what she thought would prove her accusation to be true. What a mong.
"I'm gonna prove to you that you have no idea what you're talking about." I said. My stomach was feeling absolutely better and I was happy that my migraine was a little duller.
"And I'm going to prove that you're wrong and this is all true." She brought out the blue and white box that held the small device that would determine who was right. "Jane, I know what I'm talking about!"
"Shut up before I shove this up your arse." I said as I walked to the bathroom, leaving behind a giggly Carrie. Was I nervous? Yes. Did I start having doubts? Absolutely.
I closed the door behind me and stared at the box in my hands. Pregnancy test. Sure, I had the signs, but it could still be anything from just a regular flu or maybe just a weird stomach virus.
I sighed as I opened it up and let the white, plastic stick drop into my hand. I have never used one before, but I knew the procedure. I made sure to drink tons of water while Carrie went out to go and get the stupid test, so I was fully prepared to prove her arse wrong.
_______
(Carrie's POV)
I know she's pregnant. I know it for a fact. My sister-in-law acted exactly the same when she didn't know she was pregnant with my nephew. Jane had to realise that I was more of an expert than she was and I knew what I was taking about. And if a bloody stick was going to help prove it to her, then fine, I'll do it.
"So?" I pounded on the door to the bathroom.
"Hold your bloody horses!" Jane snapped and I couldn't refrain from smiling. I heard shuffling behind the door and soon enough Jane emerged, the white stick in hand. She walked passed me to the kitchen and I literally skipped behind her. She just ignored me while she opened the fridge to retrieve a bottle of beer.
"What are you doing?" I asked, sitting at the island stool.
"If this stupid device says negative, I will be downing this beer." She shrugged, uncapping the door, cold steams cooling out of the tap.
"Okay and I guess if it says yes, I'll be the one to drink it?" I smiled as she shrugged and set it in between us, along with the stick. We waited patiently, the seconds ticking by. The box said up to five minutes and never had I been more anxious. I've only known Jane for a week, but we've grown so close that it seems like we've been in each other's lives forever. "You nervous?"
"Actually, no." She said.
"Really?" I tilted my head at her.
"Mhm." She nodded and rubbed her palms together. "It's something I've wanted, even though not this early," She sighed.
"At least it'll be Gavin's." I smiled and she snorted, running a hand through her pink locks.
"I don't know if I should be thrilled or worried. Probably both." We both chuckled and when I looked at the clock, the time was up. Jane had laid the test upside down so it would be a surprise when revealed. No one made a move for it.
"Do you want me to?" I asked. She bit her lip before sighing and pushing it towards me. "Alrighty! Lets see if there will be a little Baby Free!" I smiled, having her chuckle and I grabbed the white stick off the counter, examining the area with the answer.
"Well?" She asked. I bit my lip and looked up at her.
"I'll take that beer." I pointed to her beer glass. I was right and she was wrong. I drank the beer with success and she held the test in front of her, eyes glistening with tears. Happy ones, of course.

A/N: Ehe...I guess I'm "jumping the shark" as some people say it. I think that's what Americans say, I have no idea, but hey, it's my story! So, yeah, I had this planned from the beginning of my first time writing this story, so this isn't just a spur of the moment thing. I wanted her pregnant during the wedding.
Also, did you like the jumping around of the POV's? I thought it'd be nice to have Ray's and Carrie's :)
Anyway, congrats to @TheEllo for answering correctly on the question I had asked on the last chapter! You will be a character in this story, don't know when, but you will! Send me a message if you have anything specific you would like me to do (looks, love interest[besides Gavin, Ray, and Michael] etc.)
Please, vote, comment, and follow!!!
