Brad Problems and Madison
(Jane's POV)
"So, when are you planning on telling Burnie?" Bree asked as we sat in a small Mexican restaurant, eating our lunches. During the whole two months of my pregnancy, Gavin and I haven't found the guts to spill it to him. I knew he would be disappointed at the fact that I got knocked up before marriage, so it terrified me to tell him.
"Uh, not sure," I moved my knee length jumper to billow out more so it would cover up the small bump forming. "Later."
"When later? You're gonna have to do it soon. Do you want him to find out by himself?" She said, taking a bite of her green burrito. I looked down at my hands. I didn't want to wait or hide, but I was afraid of the disbelief that would cover his face. Gavin was more persistent on telling him, which surprised me.
"Whenever I feel like it Bree," I snapped at her, making her brown eyes widen in surprise. "Sorry. Anyway," I decided to change the subject. "Who's that Brad guy you keep bringing around? I mean, he's nice and funny, but it's kind of uncomfortable when he visits you here."
"How do you mean?" She asked, taking a drink of her water before finishing her lunch.
"Well, he's always too close to you, like a few feet away and the way he looks at you--"
"Jane," She held up a small hand and provides me with a smirk. Her long black hair is slightly curled, a new look she's been doing, and her dark makeup around her eyes brightened her golden brown iris'. "He's just a friend. We have a lot in common and he's also an expert mountain climber." She said with a small sigh and I furrowed my eyebrows at her.
"What does Ray think of him? I mean, you have been brining Brad home with you sometimes." I finally manage to eat my taco.
"Ray's a little pissy whenever Brad stays, but he gets over it and just plays his games." She shrugged.
"Does he have a girlfriend?" I asked her.
"No, but he's fresh out of a terrible relationship. He has a kid." She shrugged. I almost choked on my piece of taco before I looked up at her.
"A kid?"
"Yeah. A little girl named Madison. She's only one, but I heard she's wise beyond her age," Bree giggled, throwing away her trash. "Brad's taking me to meet her." She began to collect her bag from the table and hook it around her arm.
"Just you?" I asked, still eating.
"I asked Ray, but he said he was too busy." Bree shrugged and scurried out of the kitchen.

(Ray's POV)
"And then she brings the fucker home." I tell Michael, leaning back in my computer chair, running my hands over my face. I still couldn't believe this past week. Bree was constantly bringing that Brad fucker home, smiling and laughing. Whenever he leaves she's a whole other person--more reserved and tired. I don't know what I did to make her all of a sudden change, but it was royally pissing me the fuck off.
"Where did she meet him?" Michael asked, adjusting his green beanie on his mop of curls.
"At the damn café or some shit," I sighed, exiting out of my editing software. "Do you think she's cheating on me?" I asked him.
"What?" His eyes grew wide and he sat up straight in his chair. I knew it was one of the worst questions to ask, but I needed a second person's view. "Ray, I don't think Bree is capable of doing that. She loves you, I know that, I see that. I don't know why she's all of a sudden...different, but she wouldn't do that." Thank God we were the only two people in here because I was afraid of hearing anyone else's opinions on the situation.
I did try asking Jane once, but she had no insight on the matter. "I don't know. She's been spending most of her time with him. Whenever I ask her if she wants to go out, she says she's either tired or already going out somewhere. She's blowing me off each time," Michael's face went from worried to pure amusement. "Not in that way you dumb idiot." I rolled my eyes.
"Well, how about tonight you guys go on a double date with Lindsay and I? I'm sure she'll say yes." Michael smiled and patted my shoulder.
"We'll see." I said back.

(Bree's POV)
I sat in Brad's red convertible, the warm breeze sifting through my curled charcoal hair. Brad's blond locks, from my place, looked soft and light. Before I knew it, my fingers reached over and quickly ruffled them, a small smile playing on my red-painted lips.
"What are you doing?" Brad chuckled, his Cupid bow lips turning up. He stopped at a red light as he turned to me, his hazel eyes dancing in the afternoon summer light.
"Messing up your hair," I giggled and did it again. "It's really soft. Do you use dog conditioner or something?"
"That was a compliment and an insult wrapped up into one," He shook his head, laughing lightly. The chuckle was deep and smooth, making something in the pit of my stomach flutter. Bree, stop.
"Sorry, I couldn't help myself," I said, the light turned into a vibrant green and Brad drove off again. "So, where is your daughter?"
"She lives with my ex-girlfriend, Alice. You'll love Madi. She's super cute and funny--kind of like you." When the words tumbled out of his mouth, I couldn't help the small gasp coming out of mine. Brad must have noticed, for his eyes blinked rapidly and his pale cheeks turned a light shade of pink. "I-I...sorry." He said.
"No, it's fine," I said, almost in a whisper. "Perfectly fine." Chuckling, I placed a reassuring hand on his knee, making him slightly flinch, but he didn't say anything.
We finally pulled into a nice neighbourhood, each house having a Western feel to it. The house we stopped in front of was a pale yellow, the front porch wooden logs stacked on each other and cacti corroding the front lawn. A Chevy truck was parked in the driveway, the red paint chipped from years of use.
"Wanna come up with me or do you wanna stay here?" He asked, opening his car door.
"I'll come up." I smiled and hopped out of his car, walking up with him. Chimes were hung above the entryway, the soft sound tickling my ears as they were brushed my the warm air. Brad knocked a few times on the wooden door, rocking on the balls of his feet which were overestimated with all black All-Star converse. His simple black tshirt and tab khakis were perfect for his blond self.
The door opened to reveal a petite girl around her early teens--hair in blond pigtails and wearing a dress-like purple jumper.
"Hey, Lynn. Where's your sister and Madi?" Brad asked, smiling with his teeth.
"I'll get them." Her teenage attitude didn't even hide as she huffed, flipped one pigtail over her shoulder and walked slowly away.
"That's Alice's, my ex's, sister." He informed me and I nodded, folding my hands in front of me. Before I knew it, a young woman walked up, a little baby girl on her hip. She was very beautiful. Her straight dirty blond hair was flowing past her chest to her waist, her golden-green eyes were covered by round spectacles that shaped her eyes perfectly and her tan flesh was sunkissed. The little girl shadowed her exactly.
"Hey Brad," she smiled and kissed the little girl's, I'm assuming to be Madi, head. "Who's this?" She looked to me. Her smile was lovely as they were full and pearl pink.
"I'm Breeana or Bree." I smiled. "I'm his friend." My voice didn't sound so cheerful as I tried to make it.
"Give me her," Brad said playfully and took Madi from Alice, wrapping her in his strong, muscled arms. "Hey, love." He said and kissed her cheek, making her giggle and place a gentle hand on his cheek.
"You already have some of her stuff at your place right?" Alice asked, fixing her glasses.
"Yeah, yeah. When do you want her back?" He placed Madi on the ground, her chubby little legs wobbling slightly before having their balance. Her bleach blond hair was curling around her tiny ears. Her eyes matched her mother's, more lighter though. She was adorable. As the two talked, Madi came closer to me, her face turned to me and her bottom lip sucked into her mouth.
"Hi," I whispered, a small on my face. I kneeled to her height, takin her little hand with dimples. "You're so cute." I said.
She only tilted her head, but she reached out for me and I couldn't help the choked feeling in my throat as she did the gesture. I hesitantly picked up the little girl and stood up, placing her on my hip.
"Are you a mother?" Alice asked me, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Um, no. I wish to be someday." Did I? I was jealous of Jane's pregnancy, but does that truly mean I was ready? I wasn't exactly prepared after the miscarriage, but then again things always change. When I looked over at Brad, I saw a change in his eyes as he stared back at me, his eyes darting from Madi to me. Another flutter in my stomach had me tighten my grip on the baby girl.
"So, two days?" Brad said, still not taking his eyes off me.
"Yeah, that's good." Alice smiled. As we said our goodbyes and left with Madi in the back in her carseat and both of us in the front, it was silent. Madi found the time to drift off into a deep sleep.
"You want to be a mother?" Brad asked out of the blue and I tore my eyes away from the dark green trees.
"Someday. I'm not entirely ready just yet, but having little me's sounds good." I laughed and he did along with me.
"With your boyfriend, Ray?" He asked and I looked down, playing with my red shorts.
"We'll see."
