Christmas at Jenny's was like spending Christmas at Santa's house. She really loves this holiday so she has outdone herself for yet another year. The twins are a bundle of joy. I loved playing with them and their new toys. Marc was there too. Jenny had divorced him already when I met her but they are such good friends that I've become fond of him. Eloise was having a blast! She and Jenny got along so well that they both gave me some time by myself without having them worry about me.

I was looking at pictures of my family's holiday on my phone when Marc came next to me.

"Ok Maca, spill the beans, who got you this sad? I'll take care of him"

"It's nothing Marc! I'm just a bit stressed over the movie"

"I know how hard it can be, but one thing is being stressed out and another is being heart broken. Habla conmigo! Speak up!"

"It's my co-star Jamie"

And I opened my heart and told him everything in details. I think I had too much punch. The funny thing was that after all my crying in the last few days it felt like I didn't have any more tears or I didn't have a reason to cry anymore.

"Wow! That's messed up Maca"

"Tell me about it!"

"But if you want to know a man's point of view, I think he is head over heels for you. He just doesn't know how to deal with you not wanting him at the moment. That's why he did the stupid girlfriend move"

"I don't know Marc! I just know that if I hurt him, he hurt me even more. Heartache level speaking, I don't know which is worst Jamie's or Cauã's"

"Speaking of the devil, I saw him in town"

"Seriously? What is he doing in L.A? How do you know him?"

"I don't know what he's doing in here. I don't know him in person. I just know the name and a friend in common greeted him then told me the name."

Oh Lord! Just what I needed!!! Cauã here while I'm heartbroken because of Jamie, he'd love that. Jenny's voice brought me back.

"Maqui? Why are you biting your lip?"

"I just told her Cauã is in town"

"Why? How?"

Jenny was as confused as I.

"I don't care. L.A is big enough for the both of us"

I lied. I can't encounter Cauã being this vulnerable. I might go back to him. I need to return to Vancouver. I need to think this over! I excused myself and went to my room thinking of a way to justify my early return. When I checked my email and saw one from Sam.

Maca, I know you're in L.A for Christmas but I am throwing a New Year's Eve party for all the Cast and Crew and I would love to have you and Eloise in the party.

Perfect!! My perfect alibi! I snuggled in bed and slept restlessly.

When I woke up the kids were occupied playing with their toys, Eloise was hung over and Jenny was concentrated in making breakfast. Eloise looked at me gave me a weak smile and asked

"Did you get Sam's email?"

"Yeah, I did. And I think we should go"

"Go where??"

Jenny asked with a plate full of pancakes.

"Vancouver, Sam is throwing a New Year's party and I think I should go, otherwise people will think that I didn't go because of Jamie and his Girlfriend"

"Tia Maqui! Can we go have some Açai?"

"After lunch we'll go princess! It's a date!"

"I don't think you should go unaccompanied"

Jenny was concerned about this New Year plan. I could see it.

"I'll be fine sissy!"

I gave her a kiss on the cheek and we all sat down to eat. We played with the kids and when lunch was ready Eloise and Jenny were super tired. Marc has gone to New York to visit his parents and the kids were eager to get some Açai. So I let the girls take a nap, took Jenny's SUV and took the kids for dessert.

Once we got to the little Brazilian place, we sat and ordered, suddenly a familiar voice called my name:

"Maca? O quê você está fazendo aqui?"(what are you doing here)

I turned to find a handsome Cauã dressed in faded jeans, a black V-neck shirt and his patented flip flops.

"I think the question is what are YOU doing here??"

"I just bought this place. I'm trying to invest outside Brazil. May I join you?"

He asked Max who found it really cool him being considered as 'the man' of the table. He ordered himself an Açai and after 5 minutes he had enchanted the kids. While they were busy eating their dessert he turned to me with a sad face and spoke.

"Maca, let me ask you for your forgiveness, I was an 'idiota', you're a beautiful and talented woman and my jealously made me lose you and hurt you. I only want the best for you. I didn't get the chance to tell you this in Rio but please do know that I love you and I want to see you happy, even if it's with the Irish guy. But seriously Irish????"

This made me laugh, what he didn't know is that I couldn't care less where Jamie was from I just simply love him for being Jamie.

We relaxed a little and I told him about the movie, he was genuinely happy for me. He thought this was a wonderful opportunity.

After the kids were stuffed up in Açai and fruits we said good bye. I gave him my new number and walked out feeling relieved, that part of my past was finally over.

The girls almost died when I told them what happened but they thought it was a way of God taking some heartache out of me.

Eloise and I stayed for two more days and we saw Cauã again. Eloise was also enchanted by his beauty. Let's be honest he is a Greek God, or a Brazilian God, in this case but my thoughts were all concentrated in my Irish God.

We decided to invite Cauã to Sam's party. I am sure he accepted just to get to know Eloise a little more. It didn't bother me. So we flew back to Vancouver leaving a concerned Jenny behind. She promised to visit soon and I couldn't wait to see her again.

Cauã and I thought the same thing about Vancouver. Man it's cold! He preferred to check-in in a hotel close to our area so he could give us our privacy while getting ready for the party.

I wore a white dress. According to Brazilian culture, wearing white on New Year's Eve will bring you luck, wealth and happiness. The dress fit me perfectly. I let my hair loose and wore black ankle high boots. Eloise and Cauã picked me up. Eloise was wearing a red dress that revealed her intentions for the night and Cauã was also in white, which made him even more handsome with his natural tan. We had some champagne in my apartment and headed to the party.

I walked in searching for the reason of my restless nights. Sam greeted us. She was beautiful in an Indigo Blue dress and white L.V.

"Maca! Eloise! You guys made it!! I am so happy! And who is this young man?"

"Sam, let me introduce you to Cauã, he is my...."

"What the FUCK is this asshole doing here!!!!!!"

We all looked at an outraged Jamie. Amelia was with him. She was wearing a tight black dress that showed her little bump. Cauã extended a friendly hand and Jamie just ignored him, grabbed me by my arm and pulled me towards the balcony.

"Jamie! Stop! Stop this now!!"

"No! YOU STOP! What are you doing with HIM????! I am so disappointed!! Maca, you don't need him! Don't go there again!!"

"I AM NOT WITH HIM!!!!

"Then what is he doing here???"

"I don't have to explain myself to you! STOP!! You're acting crazy!! Go with your girlfriend!! She's probably upset now and that's not good for the baby. Don't mind my business!!"

I walked out and got back to the party where everyone was enjoying the show and quickly turned away.
Cauã and Eloise came to me. Cauã handed me a shot and said.

"Relaxa!! Forget about that asshole!"

"You're right!"

I downed the tequila and grabbed a whiskey. Cauã gave me his 'I know you don't like whiskey' look but I ignored him and started to dance. Victor came to me and danced along. Cauã took Eloise's hand and spun her around. And we all had fun ignoring sulky Jamie drinking by the bar while Amelia was speaking with Sam and Erika.

The count down started and I felt dizzy and lonely. Eloise and Cauã were ready to kiss when the clock strikes midnight and I was left with my whiskey. I hate whiskey!

"5,4,3......"

I was pulled towards the balcony once again by Jamie.

"What do you think you're do....."

He covered my lips with his and kissed me like there was no tomorrow. I was light headed and kissed him back grabbing his hair and pulling on it towards me to deepen the kiss. We kissed for what it felt an eternity but the cold air made me shiver. He pulled away and smirked down at me.

"Happy New Year, my love"
