I landed in L.A and I could feel my heart heavy. Jesus! Why did I fall for him? Why did I do that to my career? Why did I do that to myself? We'll be in L.A for some last meetings to see what Sam decided is keeping from our early scenes and then we'll head to Vancouver to start our business. I hope they rented my apartment far far away from his.

I took a taxi straight to Universal. I was greeted by an over-excited-to-see-me Eloise.

"Maca!!! You're back!!! Where have you been?? Jamie called me yesterday asking for you!! I tried to call you but I only got your voicemail."

I hugged her and flashed her an apologetic smile.

"I lost my charger, and my phone died while I was in Rio"

"Why was Jamie looking for you? Weren't you guys supposed to be together?"

"We were. He just needed to do something before we started filming again".

"You're strange. I want to know everything"

Eloise has become a really good friend since we met. I really could use some girl talk.

"I bet you do! There were so many events in one week. I need a drink before. What about we go out tonight? Just us girls???"

"Oh, that's awesome!! I can't wait!!!"

"Don't forget to put your dancing shoes on!"

We are laughing like high school girls when I see her smile fading and that was enough for me to know that he is here.

"Well hello Jamie! Look whom I found!"

She flashes him a patented Eloise's smile and he can't help but smile at her back.

"Hi Eloise, would you give us a minute, please?"

"Sure thing doll! Hey Maca! Text me the address of your hotel, I'll pick you up!"

"Ok but are you driving??"

"Just to your place, we'll take a cab from there. We're getting waaasted tonight!!!! Woo hoo!!!!"

I laugh at her statement. She's such a happy person.

STOP AVOIDING HIM!! My subconscious yells at me.

"Maca, we need to talk"

"About WHAT Jamie?????"

"Come over here!"

He grabs my arm and takes me into an alley that leads to one of the studios. He makes sure no one is around and pushes me against the wall, pinning me with his body.

"What the f...."

"You're right. Enough talking"

Saying that he assaulted my mouth making me gasp which gave him free opening to his tongue. I responded. He makes me forget everything with his kiss. I'm sure this kiss is prohibited in some countries. He ran his hands in the sides of my breasts. And that just brought me back to my senses. What am I doing???? I pushed him away.

"Jamie, stop!"

"Why?? You can't deny what's between us!"

"You're right, I can't deny it, but whatever I was feeling for you, you killed it when you walked out of me in Rio".

"I am so sorry baby, I was lost, Millie caught off guard. Whatever you were feeling for me, I was feeling for you, I still do. I don't want to loose you"

He looked really lost, vulnerable, it made me feel sad and I hit reality. He didn't leave because he doesn't like me, he left because he needs to be by her side, he must be.
I walked to him with a different approach, put my hands on his handsome face, looked at him in the eyes.

"I know baby, I understand. You did what you're supposed to do. You will be a father!"

I flashed him a sincere smile, my eyes watered a little but I pushed those tears back, he doesn't need another vulnerable woman in his life.

"I am sure you will be a wonderful dad. I saw you interact with Renato and Caio, you were great. Look, I want to be your friend. Let's put everything behind and start from scratch, ok?"

He looked at me as if taking in what I was saying. Blue eyes against blue eyes. I reached out my hand introducing myself. He took it with humor in his eyes.

"Macarena Santana, nice to meet you"

"Jamie Dornan, the pleasure is all mine"

"Ok now let me go because I need to report to Sam"

"You haven't spoken with her yet?"

"No, I just arrived, why?"

"Ooh, you're in for a talk. She's pissed, they're re-shooting everything"

"Why???"

"Lack of chemistry"

"Oh shit!"

"That's fine, we got it covered. We can do this together"

Saying this he held my face in both hands, looking at me in the eyes. Approached slowly, for a second I thought he was going to kiss me but instead he planted a kiss on my forehead. I can't say I didn't feel  disappointed. He freed me from his hold.

"Ok, gotta run. See you later!!"

"Can I see you tonight?"

He yelled while I was already running.

"Not tonight! Girls only!!"

I yelled back and I could hear his chuckle.

I knocked on Sam's office and she commanded to come in.

"Hi Sam"

"Maca! You're back! Please, sit down"

I do as I'm told and I feel a pitch in my stomach.

"How was the trip?"

"It was awesome, Jamie is a wonderful man, I'm glad we did this. Now we're like family"

"Oh, I'm glad to hear that. He definitely feels the same for you"

I doubt it. I love him.

"Look Maca, I'm gonna be straight forward. Universal didn't like the chemistry between you guys and wants us to re-make all your scenes together. We'll do them in Vancouver. We're leaving in two days. We'll be having some meetings during this time. But look Maca, this is serious. I'm supposed to send them the first takes if they don't like it, they'll cancel the movie"

I swallow hard. This is my brake-through. I can't miss this chance.

"I got you Sam, this time will be different, I promise"

"Good, now go relax, our next meeting will be tomorrow at 10am."

"Ok, see you tomorrow then"

I left her office feeling scared. I need my friend. So I went to the front desk and asked them if I could use their phone. After having an ok I dialed a number.

"Hello?"

"Jenny?"

"Oh my God Maqui! Where have you been?? I've been trying to reach you! I even called Antonia, she said you went to Rio!!! What the f*ck!!! I thought we had an agreement"

"I know Jenny, relax, everything is fine. I'll tell you everything that happened on that trip but only over some champagne. Do you want to hang out tonight with me and a girl from the cast?"

"Sure thing!!!! You got me at champagne"

And she laughs. Gosh I've missed her. She is my best friend.

I hang up feeling relieved. A night out with my girls is all I need.
