Chapter 9

When Hannah walked into Mario's office the next day she found Olli chatting with him, and the HR lady sitting angrily to Mario's left. She glared at Hannah as she walked around the table to sit next to Olli.

"Sorry I'm late, I had to finish up filming the twitter Q&A with Nisky," Hannah explained. "Nice to meet you Mr. Lemieux." She extended her little hand across the table and it was engulfed in his in a firm handshake.

"Please, call me Mario. Olli was just telling me the funny story of how you two started dating," Mario smiled, and she instantly felt better about the whole situation. She hadn't slept well the night before because she was so worried about getting fired, but this was already better than she had expected.

Grace from HR cleared her throat and pushed a manila folder over to Mario. He glanced through it and put it down, folding his hands on top of it.

"I read your file last night, and after talking to Dan, Sid, and a few others about it, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't date," he smiled at Hannah and Olli. "I know you've made a few mistakes, but you're young, it happens, but we wouldn't have hired you if we thought it was too offensive. And so what if you're a few years older than Olli; he's one of the most mature 19 year olds I've met."

Grace huffed, not happy with the outcome, and stole Hannah's file back from Mario before storming out of the room. As soon as she left Mario burst out laughing.

"Grace is always trying to find some kind of drama; I guess it gets boring down in that HR office," Mario smiled, as if reminiscing some other 'scandal' she had brought him into. "But you two kids go have fun, don't worry about her."

"Thank you," Olli said and shook his hand before leaving with Hannah.

"So I guess this means we're dating now," Olli said to Hannah with grin.

"Yeah," Hannah replied, still shocked at how easily that had gone. She let Olli hold her hand and guide her through the halls down to the parking garage.

"So what do you want to do now?" He asked, her still grinning.

Hannah realized they were in his car. "Um, we could get dinner?"

"I want to take you on a proper date. We'll get dressed up and go somewhere fancy," Olli turned to her, suddenly picturing her in a dress, and blushed.

Hannah didn't notice and nodded. "Sure."

"I'll pick you up at 8, does that give you enough time to do your hair or whatever?" Olli laughed.

"Yeah," Hannah laughed. He was being so cute and chatted to her the entire ride to her apartment.

"I'll see you at 8, and try to look really nice!" Olli shouted to her out his window as she walked away.

Looking 'really nice' was not something Hannah did very often. She went through her closet and tried on all of her dresses before finding one that was okay. She put her hair up in curlers and started doing her makeup. After taking a makeup course in film school she was really good at doing fancy eyeliner and stuff.... on other people. But after a few attempts she got it right. She squeezed into her dress, something her sister had helped her buy, and tried to decide which of her two pairs of high heels would match it best. Olli was a foot taller than her: she wasn't going out in public with him without heels.

Meanwhile, Olli was trying to decide which of his three suits he would wear. It wasn't really that hard for him to pick; he chose the nicest one and tried it on to make sure it matched his shoes. For a guy, Olli had good fashion sense. Probably because he's from Europe; European men seem to be more on top of that kind of thing.

He waited outside of Hannah's apartment in anticipation. He had no idea what to expect from Hannah, and was completely surprised when he saw her.

"Is there something wrong?" She asked as she adjusted her short black dress after climbing into his car.

Not realizing he had been staring at her with his mouth open, he blinked and shut his mouth.

"No, you look beautiful," He replied, admiring the way the dress accentuated her thin hour-glass figure.

"You look very handsome yourself," Hannah replied, though she'd seen him in a suit a dozen times. "Where are you taking me?"

"It's a surprise," Olli smiled. Hannah tried to figure out where they were going, but hadn't really been to too many fancy restaurants in Pittsburgh. Not only was it not really her type, but she never had a reason to go. But now she did, and she smiled at that thought.

"Olli Maatta, are you serious?" She asked with a smile as they parked near one of the nicest and extremely exclusive restaurants in the city. "How did you even get a reservation?"

"Actually, Mario did. He felt bad about the way things had happened with HR and he thought it was funny that I thought you had been making out with Suttsy," Olli smiled and helped Hannah out of the car.

"You've gotten better at walking in high heels," Olli remarked, though she was still clutching his arm.

"Yeah I've been practicing," Hannah smiled up at him. "I figured that I should learn how to walk in heels if I was going to date a guy a foot taller than me."

Olli smiled and opened the door for her. They were shown to a table (it was under Mario's name) and the waiter started to offer them a wine list, but glanced at Olli and stopped and turned to Hannah.

"Actually," Hannah interrupted him. "I'll have some scotch. Do you have Talisker?"

"Y-yes we do, 10, 15, 25, and 50 year," The waiter looked even more confused. "And I'm going to need to see some ID."

"I'll take the 15," Hannah handed him her license.

"You drink scotch?" Olli asked after the waiter left.

Hannah shrugged, "Yeah, why?"

"You like cars, you drink scotch- you're full of surprises," Olli smiled.

"You don't even know half of it," she replied with a mischievous smile that sent a hundred dirty thoughts to Olli's mind. He shook his head and tried to clear them, focusing on the fact that they were in a very nice restaurant courtesy of their boss

"Here's your water, sir, and your scotch, miss," Olli's thoughts were interrupted by the waiter returning to their table. He took their orders and left, still looking at Hannah a bit suspiciously.

"So, did Mario mention if he was paying for this too?" Hannah asked. "Because scotch isn't cheap."

"Yeah, he is," Olli nodded.

"Oh, if I'd known that I would have gotten something nicer, maybe gone with the 50 year Talisker instead," Hannah smiled. "I'm joking. Though Mario can definitely afford it..."

Olli smiled; he liked Hannah's sense of humor, but sometimes he couldn't tell if she was serious or not. With Hannah, anything could happen.

"I don't want any of these weird desserts, I don't even know what half of them are," Hannah whispered to Olli after they'd eaten their main course.

"Yeah, I don't know either," he replied looking over the list one more time.

Hannah's face lit up as she got an idea. "Hey, we could get ice cream, at the place I took you after your first game."

Olli grinned; he had thought of that night many times over the past few weeks. The waiter came to take their orders and they declined, and since the bill was already taken care of, they left.

"Don't you think we're a little over dressed for ice cream?" Olli asked as he helped her into the car.

"Nah, it'll be an adventure," she smiled. "Besides, I don't really care, as long as I don't get any ice cream on this dress."

Olli was right, they stood out in the ice cream shop, but neither of them cared. They sat inside this time because it had gotten pretty cold out now that it was almost November.

"This is where we went on our kind of first date, and now it's where we're ending our first real date as a couple," Hannah said thoughtfully and smiled at Olli. "And you have ice cream on your chin."

She reached up to dab his chin with her napkin but stopped. Instead she leaned forward and licked it off.

"Sorry, I wanted to try your ice cream," she smiled, almost apologetically (but she wasn't sorry).

Olli was shocked by her cold tongue as it slid across his chin and those thoughts he had been trying not to think came flooding back into his head. (Actually, his first thought was 'wow, even her tongue is cold' and 'it's probably from her ice cream,' and then 'I wonder if I can taste her ice cream too...')

"Are you okay?" She asked him, and he realized he had been staring at her with the dumbest expression on his face for at least a minute.

"Yeah, sorry," he sat up and wiped the rest of the ice cream off his face with the back of his hand.

"You have a game tomorrow, we should probably leave soon," Hannah said checking her watch.

"Yeah, we have a game. It's against, um..." Olli was trying to think about anything but her tongue.

"...The Bruins?" Hannah replied and looked questioningly at Olli. She hadn't realized how much her 'ice cream tasting' had affected him. Sometimes she forgot he was 19, and she liked it that way. She didn't want to be the older, responsible one, but he was so young and inexperienced.

Well, she didn't know if he was inexperienced or not, but she assumed he was this innocent little baby puppy whom she needed to shield from her vast experience and interesting past.

Olli, on the other hand, saw Hannah as this mysterious goddess, and he was determined to solve that mystery and find out what made that quirky little girl smile.
