Chapter 34

"Olli, can you write a note on here for me?" Hannah pushed a small blank card across the table to him. "Just write 'Happy Valentine's Day Beth! <3 Kasperi,' and try to write like you're a horny 18 year old boy."

"Umm...okay?" He raised an eyebrow and waited for a response, but shrugged when she gave none, and started on the note. He hadn't seen her much over the past month and a half, so he wasn't going to waste any time with her. They were determined to spend their first Valentine's Day since getting engaged together, no matter how inconvenient it was. Olli had a road game in Ottawa on the 12th and another game in Chicago on the 15th, so they had two days together.

It was the morning of the 13th, only 7:30 AM, and Hannah was already on her second cup of coffee. Olli pretended he didn't see her hands shaking when she handed him the note. He also tried to ignore her stick-like wrists poking out of the sleeves of a loose sweater he was sure used to fit her.

"Are you going to eat something? Why don't we at least have breakfast together..."

Hannah stopped rushing around her small studio apartment and looked at him. "Breakfast?" she said slowly. Her apartment was a mess: stacks of loose paper, take-out containers from nearly half of Toronto's Chinese restaurants, empty coffee cups... Olli knew cleaning had never been one of Hannah's favorite things, but he was starting to wonder if she had ever cleaned this apartment.

"I don't have time for breakfast. If I get this letter in the mail by 8, Beth should get it with the flowers in LA tomorrow," she grabbed Olli's note and stuffed it in an envelope. "Come on."

She pulled him out of the apartment and into the cold Toronto air. They rushed through the streets and dropped the letter at the post office before heading toward today's filming location: the back of an antique bookstore. They only had three hours to get this scene done before the store opened, and they couldn't afford to rent the store any longer than three hours.

"Are you sure you'll be okay today?" Hannah asked Olli, slowing down long enough to look at him.

"Yeah, I have old friend's to visit, don't worry...although I'd better if we had breakfast," he put his arm around her and tried to stop her as they passed a cafe.

"No, I have to go. They've already started setting up and I need to be there to make sure they do it right, and-" Olli cut her off with a kiss and swooped her up into his arms.

"You need to eat something first," he carried her into the cafe and, despite her protests, set her down and ordered a muffin for her. "Eat it."

He tried to look at her seriously, but he just couldn't be mad. The circles under her eyes, the hollowness in her cheeks, he knew this wasn't just from filming her first movie. That was her thing, and she was totally prepared for it, so he knew the sleeplessness and weight loss was from something else.

"Fine," she half smiled at him before she started picking at the muffin. "But I'm not really hungry."

"Maybe we should put off the wedding."

Hannah stopped taking the muffin apart bit by bit and froze. She looked up at Olli with scared eyes, set in dark hollows. "What?"

"I mean planning it. It can wait, I'm in no hurry," he shrugged, trying to sound casual.

"But, Beth and I have already started looking at dresses, and she's made a whole scrapbook of invitation samples, and color themes, and bridesmaid dresses-"

"That's not important. If it were up to me, we'd get married right now, in whatever we're wearing." Olli smiled and took her hand.

Hannah was quiet for a moment, before she laughed. "I'd probably pick something a little nicer than this old sweater."

"Maybe we'll wait until you're done filming and editing, and see where we are, okay? And then we can start planning. We haven't even picked a date yet."

"You're right. I let Beth talk me into this, and I went along with it because she needs a distraction, a project, something to take her mind of Kasperi and the baby."

"You called him Kasperi." Olli looked surprised and confused.

"What?" Hannah looked up from her muffin, which was almost half eaten.

"You always used to call him 'Kasper.'"

"Oh," Hannah looked lost in thought. "I guess feel bad for him, or something."

Olli nodded. He hadn't talked to Kasperi since he'd gone back to Finland, but he heard he was having a tough time. Reluctantly, Olli let Hannah go to work, leaving the rest of her breakfast behind.

Hannah came home late and crawled into bed, barely noticing Olli. He curled up next to her and fell asleep holding her in his arms.

For the first time in over a month and a half, Hannah didn't wake up to her alarm clock. Instead, she woke up to the smell of pancakes and coffee.

"Good morning sunshine," Olli said when she finally crawled out of bed. She sat down at the table and he brought her pancakes, maple syrup, and coffee, and sat across from her.

"Thank you," she smiled before diving into the pancakes. "What other surprises do you have planned for today?"

Olli smirked, "Well, I was hoping we could spend the day in bed."

"Okay, but after that," Hannah giggled.

"I mean, we're not doing anything besides staying home and watching movies, or whatever..."

"'Or whatever?' I like that. Is that a new position?" Hannah stood up and came around the table to sit on his lap facing him. "You know what I like about having a studio apartment?" She whispered seductively in his ear.

"What?" Olli's breath hitched as his mind wandered.

"It's all one room, so there are no boundaries or limitations on where the bedroom starts or ends. So technically, we're still in the bedroom..."

Olli's brain clicked into gear when he got what she was hinting at. He effortlessly lifted her onto the table, and round one (dining room/bedroom) began. Followed by round two (kitchen/bedroom), and round three (living room/bedroom), before ending in the actual bed (round four).

When she finally recovered and caught her breath, Hannah checked her phone for any messages from work. There were many, as she was expecting, but one text stood out to her. It was from Beth: 'OMG!!! Kaspy sent me flowers!!!' with a picture of the flowers Hannah had sent her and the note Olli had written.

Hannah smiled, glad she could have brought a moment of happiness to her sister's life. In a way, she felt responsible for this entire mess. If she hadn't invited Beth to stay with her while Kasperi was living with them, none of this would be happening,

'You're welcome ; )' she sent a quick text to Kasperi, even though it was probably late at night in Finland. He replied with a question mark, and she laughed. 'The flowers...'

*'Thanks!' He replied.

*'I did it more for her than you. She's jealous that Olli and I are engaged and you and she aren't (not that you should marry her! Please don't)' The last thing Hannah needed was Kasperi thinking he needed to marry her sister.

She looked over at Olli sleeping peacefully next to her before quickly scrolling up through her text conversation with Kasperi. It was sporadic and there were often weeks between texts, but it told a strange story.

The last time they had 'talked' was right after Hannah and Olli got engaged. It started with him saying 'Congratulations,' which Hannah thought was appropriate, and wished he had just left it at that. But he had to say more, of course:

'I guess I'll never have a chance with you now,'

'So a threesome is probably out of the question?'

'I meant a threesome between you, me and another girl. Not you, Olli and I'

'I'm not into that'

There was a pause, and Hannah had been about to respond, when she got the last text:

'I wish it was you I had knocked up and not Beth'

She felt bad for him, so she responded nicely: 'Kasper, you're drunk'

She had been so stressed lately that she'd forgotten about this conversation. She almost sent him another text asking how he was, but she didn't want to send the wrong message. She was concerned, and nothing more. If it did turn out that he was the father of Beth's baby, that would change things. But for now, she felt bad for putting him in this situation, and nothing more.

"Hey future husband," Hannah smiled as Olli slowly woke up, realizing his alarm was going off. "Someone has a plane to catch to Chicago."

She handed him a cup of coffee and kissed him on the cheek as he slowly woke up.

Olli didn't want to leave, he didn't want to be awake right now, but he certainly didn't mind that Hannah had just referred to him as 'future husband' and couldn't help a smile from creeping across his face.

"I could get used to that, future Mrs. Maatta."

"Mrs. Eldridge-Maatta," Hannah corrected him. They shared a smile that said 'everything was going to be all right' before they continued getting ready. Olli packed his bag, and Hannah walked him out to the street to meet a taxi. With tears brimming in her eyes, she kissed him goodbye.

"Good luck today, beat the Hawks!" she said before he climbed in the taxi.

"I love you."

"I love you too!" Hannah watched the taxi until it turned the corner, and she started off toward the next filming location. She sent a quick text to Brandon wishing him a happy late birthday, and switched back into film director mode. 'Only four more weeks,' she reminded herself.

Four more weeks.
