Chapter 17
Olli walked to Hannah's office with a huge grin on his face. He tried to stop smiling, but just couldn't pull a straight face. He knocked on her door and opened it after he heard her call 'come in.' He causally walked up to her desk and placed a bag on it.
"What's this?" Hannah said as she turned to face him.
"It's a late Christmas present," Olli said, biting his lip to keep from smiling again.
"You already got me a Christmas present," Hannah complained. "See, I'm wearing them." She brushed her black-tipped blonde hair out of her face and behind her ears to show off the earrings he'd given her two weeks earlier.
"Whatever, just open it," Olli laughed and Hannah smiled up at him as she slowly opened the bag.
"What is this?" She asked, though she was pretty sure it was a team Finland Olympic jersey.
"It's the jersey you're going to wear when you watch me play in Sochi," Olli said proudly, and Hannah jumped up to give him a hug.
"Olli I'm so proud of you!!!" Hannah smiled so much she felt a tiny tear forming at the corner of her eye, and quickly wiped it away before Olli could see her. Crying was not something Hannah did.
"And I'm supposed to tell you that you're needed in the locker room, for interviews or something," Olli said as he stepped back from her close embrace. She smiled back up at him before skipping off toward the locker room. When she got there she found Sid and Kuni being interviewed about their acceptance to team Canada, and Sid's captainship of the Canadian Olympic team. Hannah was directed toward Geno to help with his interview.
"You excited about the Olympics?" Hannah asked Geno as she set up the camera.
"Of course I'm excited, it's in my home country, whole family will be there and cheer me on, they'll be there to watch me win gold," he grinned at her like a kid.
"I think you mean silver. Finland's getting gold," Hannah smiled back at him, feeling a bit smug about her boyfriend.
"You're not cheering for your own country?" Geno laughed and looked kind of surprised.
"I'm not dating anyone on team America," Hannah replied sarcastically and laughed, so Geno knew she was joking. "They can get bronze."
"Yeah right, Russia gold!" Geno cheered and smiled his goofy, childish grin into the camera she was testing. The reporters finally moved away from Sid and got their notes ready for Geno. They had, as expected, a lot of questions about him playing in his home country, and his family watching him play, stuff like that. It was boring, but Geno was more than excited to talk about it.
Hannah spent the rest of the day getting ready for the upcoming road trip to Canada with the team. She'd only traveled with them a few times, but this was her first time going to Canada with them. It wouldn't really be any different for her, she just needed to remember not to buy things with American money.
As she was packing her suitcase for the week away, she decided the throw in the jersey Olli had given her. She held it up and smiled as she admired it, again feeling so proud of him for making his country's Olympic team at only 19! Wow, when she was 19 she had achieved far less, but she wasn't jealous of him or anything, she was just happy for him.
On the long flight to Vancouver, she took turns sitting with Olli and Brandon. When one was too busy playing some lame video game with the other players, she'd move to the other side of the plane to sit with the other. After getting bored of watching Brandon playing pokemon on their gameboys or whatever, she leaned up against the window and fell asleep.
"Hannah?" She was awoken by one of the Penguin's staff who helped coordinate their road trips.
"What? Are we there?" She sat up groggily and tried to remember the name of the person talking to her. (Was it Mary?)
"We're about to land. But I need to ask you a question. We've had a bit of a, um, scheduling problem and we didn't reserve enough rooms at the hotel. Do you mind staying in a room with Olli? Unless you'd rather stay with someone else..." She glanced between Hannah and Brandon, and Hannah and Brandon exchanged horrified looks before bursting out laughing.
"No, I'll be fine rooming with Olli. As long as he's okay with it, of course," Hannah looked back up at Mary, and she shook her head.
"I haven't asked him yet, I thought I'd talk to you first. Would you mind talking to him? I have a ton of other things to catch up on. I feel like this trip wasn't planned very well, or something," Mary said, not particularly to Hannah and Brandon, but they nodded and she left.
After the plane landed and they had filed sleepily off the plane, Hannah stood near Olli as he got their luggage.
"Thanks," she said after he insisted on carrying her suitcase too. "So, we're going to be roommates, due to a booking error at the hotel."
Olli gave her a sly look. "That should be fun. Where were you the last hour or so? I missed you," Olli smiled down at her, and tried to ignore all the reasons it would be bad (or really awesome) for them to be roommates.
"I was sleeping with Brandon." As Hannah said the words, she realized how misconstrued they could sound. She heard a slight snorting sound from Olli and looked up to see him starting to laugh.
"Wow, if I didn't know you better I would be pretty mad," Olli laughed in a kind of ironic way, and Hannah started to explain that she was sleeping near him, not with him. However, Olli kept talking. "You know, up until recently, maybe a month ago, I was pretty sure you and he were hooking up, or had slept together."
"Wait, you thought I was hooking up with him, while we were dating?" Hannah stopped walking and Olli stopped a few paces ahead of her. He slowly turned to face her.
"Well, I mean, it was more of a suspicion, or a thought that kept coming to me at night. I didn't actually believe it. Although I wouldn't exactly blame you if you did, he's more your age, and more experienced probably..." Olli barely finished the sentence when Hannah rushed forward to hug him, stopping him from saying anything else by kissing him.
"I have never slept with, or even kissed, Brandon Sutter, and I never want to. That would be gross. He's like the older brother I never had," Hannah looked up into Olli's eyes and hoped that he understood her. "And don't worry about being 'experienced' or 'inexperience,' I think you're just fine. As a matter of fact," she said slowly, and started to slide her hand along his chest up toward the collar of his shirt. "Why don't we go up to our room and I'll show you a few more 'experiences,' eh?"
Olli responded with a naughty grin, and heightened their pace toward the hotel.

After a shootout win with the Canucks, the team traveled on to Alberta to play the Oilers and then the Flames. Hannah was very suddenly made in charge of all post-game interviews for the team when one of her colleagues got sick. The Oiler's interview went fine, but after the Pens win in Calgary, something happened.
Tanner Glass was being interviewed by Root Sports, the station that covered all the Pittsburgh games, and Hannah knew their film crew well. However, tonight there seemed to be a few people behind the cameras she didn't recognize.
"Excuse me, but why do you have the camera positioned there?" Hannah asked, and the camera operator pushed her away.
"The interview is starting, be quiet," he whispered sharply.
"You need to re-angle that camera, it's pointing-" Hannah was cut off suddenly as the man holding the microphone pushed her away from the camera. She glanced over at Dan Potash, who was doing the interview, and Glass, who just looked back at them with a confused stare.
"What, the angle is wrong? And let me guess, because you went to film school, you want to try holding the camera upside down, or at a 35 degree angle or some creative shit?" The cameraman sneered at Hannah, and she was about to fight back when they were told they were going live, and the interview started.
Hannah watched in horror as the camera remained pointing at the one place it shouldn't. Halfway through Glass's interview, Kris Letang opened the door to the shower room, eating a piece of pizza. He looked right at the camera, mid bite, and kept walking.
Hannah looked behind him and realized that in full view of the camera was a completely naked (and unaware) Brandon Sutter. It wasn't like he had just gotten out of the shower and had a towel wrapped around his waist; no, he was completely exposed. There was literally nothing left unseen.
Hannah jumped forward and pushed the camera over a few inches so it wasn't pointing into the shower room any more, and gave the cameraman an angry glare and mouthed "you're fired!" before stomping away to find his superior.
After she had taken care of that, and the night calmed down a little, she started to realize how embarrassing this was for Brandon. He was in his home province of Alberta and had visited his parents in between the Edmonton and Calgary games, and now this? He had been so excited about getting to see his parents, and his girlfriend, and his brother, but now all of that was ruined.
And Hannah felt responsible.
"Hey, so I don't know if anyone's told you yet, but..." Hannah started, and Brandon nodded solemnly. "...but, you've got a nice dick." She smiled apologetically and Brandon actually laughed. It was a tired laugh, but at least she knew he wasn't planning on murdering her on the plane ride back to Pittsburgh that night.
"It was an accident, I can't really be mad at anyone," he sighed, but it was obvious he really wanted to be mad at someone: perhaps the camera operator who Hannah had just gotten fired, or Kris for opening the door, or maybe himself for just standing there, naked, without a towel. But it's the shower room, you're supposed to be naked!
Hannah added this to her long list of reasons she didn't like having interviews in the locker room, and told herself the situation was out of her control now. Jen, the Pens PR lady, was having an absolute fit trying to get everything under control, while simultaneously apologizing to Brandon every chance she got. Hannah jokingly told him he should ask for a raise, or something to cover the 'emotional damage.'
"At least get your contract extended another year," she smiled at him as they boarded the plane. She decided to sit with Olli this time, for the entire plane ride. She desperately tried to erase the image of seeing her best friend naked, because that was not something she needed popping up in her head every time they got waffles together.
"So," Olli said as she sat down next to him. He had a grin on his face that warned Hannah that he was up to no good. "So, now that you've seen Brandon naked-"
"No. I know where you're going with this, and don't say it," she started to laugh as his mischievous smile widened into the same happy grin he got whenever he saw her. "No, I don't want to sleep with him, I am more frightened than turned on by the thought of seeing him naked. Okay?"
Olli nodded, and reached over to brush a stray hair out of her face. He kissed her on the cheek and then settled down to sleep for the rest of the flight. Hannah put up the armrest that had separated them, and slid over to curl up next to him.
