Lynx clasped her fleshy hand over his bony one.

"I wish, with all I have, with all my heart, that you will get a chance to be forgiven by your brother and those close to him."

"..." Edge felt the tears brim in his eyesockets.

She smiled at him, the smile was very warm, like a mother's or a big sister's. 

He didn't understand.

Out of everyone, literally everyone she knew,

Why did she choose to stand by his side?

He did so many bad things in the past, he doubted he could ever even begin to make up for it. 

She used her thumb to wipe away his tears. "Don't cry..."

"Human... I don't understand. Why me? I'm sure that Stretch or Blue would be far better than me... You chose to stand by my side. You're betraying a friendship I have the feeling you would protect with you life!" 

She smiled. "You see, I cherish my friendship with them... but I look at you and I realize, even though I could be happy with my friends, you would never be happy with yours. The world you lived in was all trashed up. You were standing in a world where you tried to claw your way out to survive. It must've hurt... I can feel you. Not literally but I think I can understand. You were suffering because of your world being a 'kill or be killed' world. You were driven to the point you took Sans in like a drug, trying to use him as your escape. You couldn't think straight at that point, and everything else added salt to your wounds."

He sighed sadly and looked down. 

"...Human, please... I... don't wish to be alone. But I do not want to harm you either. I... I just want you to know. Please, if I go too far, run away from me, as far as you can. Leave me to steam off before ever coming back to me, understand?" he asked.

She bit her lip.

"PROMISE ME LYNX!" he cried out. She was taken aback, tears in her eyes.

"...I... I promise Papyrus." she rasped.
