Darker Questions

Edge wanted a constant in his life.

He was a wreck, depressed and scared. The only reason he was so abusive to Sans was because he needed Sans to know he was his.

He wanted Sans to be his.

He... NEEDED Sans to be his.

He chuckled dryly and looked at the bedroom he now shared with her. She didn't really have a spare bedroom anymore (The other was stuffed with dog items clutter).

He felt the tip of her dagger with his hand. She left it under her pillow this morning and he found it. A sharp blade, perfect.

He brought it to the higher part of his arm and made a wide cut, the blood slowly seeping through.

He laughed. The pain was quite addicting. He started this since Sans left him. Without his brother as a constant, he let pain take the place.

"PAPYRUSSSSSSSSSS?" she called. Edge turned to the door. "I'M COMING!"

"GOOD! I MADE PANCAKES AND BACON. DON'T WORRY I DIDN'T PUT DOG FOOD IN YOURS." she replied. That girl put the mush canines ate into her dishes. She had a strange obsession to them.

Edge washed her dagger and his arm, put on a hoodie and sweats and went downstairs.

Lynx was waiting for him already, the sound of crispy bacon ringing in the room. He chuckled and sat down next to her. She somehow made pancakes with syrup and bacon spread around it. Edge took a bite.

"This actually... tastes good!" he cried. He tied his scarf in the style of a mini scarf (You know, Blue's scarf) and was wearing bunny slippers. Lynx was surprised.

He looked docile.

"You're wearing my clothes?" she asked. She understood the baby pink hoodie and peach sweats were oversized for her, but the slippers?

"Y-yes Human. These clothes look too big to fit you." he blushed. 'Not to mention these colours are lovely.'

"And my slippers?" she was surprised he had small feet. Her feet were small and made her crocs oversized. "Ah, Human. These slippers look like yours, but I bought myself a pair a day ago. I love the de-" he blushed and zipped up.

He still called her Human.

"So Papyrus... you think they're nice." she smiled. He was cutesy too.

"N-NO! I ONLY THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD BE NICE TO MATCH WITH YOU, YOU KNOW, 'COSPLAY'!" she laughed. Edge was so cutesy but never admitted it.

"Hu- Lynx." he called. "Yes?" she snapped up at her name. "I was wondering... do you know anything about Sans?" she chewed her lip. The people who knew Red's pregnancy were banned from going to Underfell or mentioning Red outside their circle... but she broke both bans.

"...He's a good friend. Very punny." she decided to tell the general facts.

"Well, I know that. I just... I want to know more about him when he's not home." he sighed. She looked down.

"When he's sad, he's depressed. Really traumatized. Your actions took such a toll on him you made him suffer PTSD." Edge's eyesockets went black.

"I... I did...?" she nodded, looking at her food. "You made him suffer and everyone hates you. Outside your home everyone despises you. You're the evil-doer in their eyes."

"...Lynx..." he requested. She nodded, saying she was listening.

"Why did you... take me to your home then?" he asked. She looked at the food in front of her. If she told him he'd call her weak and leave, right?

But... she had nothing else to say.

"I... I saw something more in you. You weren't just a cruel tyrant, you were something else. You were... a friend. Someone I could talk to and keep me company... but most of all, someone who was afraid. Who was shy and in need of someone to take care of them. You looked so timid and insecure, I could easily break you with an insult."

Edge looked down. Was his sensitive side so obvious?

"That's why I chose you." she chuckled, it was a soft, lifeless cackle.

"...?" he looked at her.

"You seemed so broken, so gray and devoid of colour... just like me." she had the saddest smile since Sans.

"Did you... lose someone too?" he asked.

"...I lost everyone." she sighed.

"...I'm sorry..." he placed a hand on her shoulder.

"But... seeing someone so broken like me..." she looked at him. Her face of grief and understanding.

"I was pretty surprised. I didn't want anyone to be like that anymore." he felt a lump in his throat. He wanted to ask about Sans again, but she wanted him to be happy...

Did... Sans make him happy?

Did... ANYTHING make him happy?
