Chapter 2
Day: Wednesday (12th of September)
( Jessie's POV )
A loud noise broke the silence, and with that my great nap. I got up, groaning loudly. As if I wasn't too tired already. I looked at the alarm clock and wondered how to get it to stop. I quickly switched on the lights and looked for the button. When the alarm clock was silenced I opened my closet to put on a clean uniform. I did some last things before walking out of the room to the breakfast table.
It was like a hotel. An all-you-can-eat buffet was prepared for us, and it looked delicious. Way better, and more, than I could ever get with my little money. There were two long tables, split up by the two different training groups. But the trainers themselves didn't seem to be around.
I sat down next to Cassidy, and started eating my food, while Cassidy was in a conversation with a guy I couldn't remember the name of.
"A gun is so much better to use in battle."Cassidy said to the guy. "It's fast, the bullet goes deep, you don't need to pick an entirely new gun if you miss, and it hurts more."
"It's harder to miss with a knife, and the chances of people noticing you're hiding a weapon is smaller."the guy replied with an arrogant smile on his face. I felt how it was getting a bit colder from the moment I realised they were talking about weapons. Images immediately came in my mind, and I had to do my best to shake them off again.
"What are you talking about?!"Cassidy argued. "You've got guns smaller than your average knife! Take the Kahr Arms P380. Its length is 4.9 inches, and it's 3.9 inches in terms of height. And the Kel-Tec P3AT. It has a length of 5.2 inches, but its height is 3.5 inches! In what way is a knife better?"
"And what if you're close? What if you're out of bullets? A knife doesn't have those problems, does it?"
"No, but if you've thrown your knife, you won't get it back..." How did they know so much about weapons? It wasn't exactly your average lesson in school. 'Oh, hey students. Today I'll tell you about what kind of guns there are.' And I didn't exactly see Team Rocket as a place where they'd give you elucidation on stuff. It seemed more like the place where they'd just put the gun in your hand. And that was good, because I'd rather just do instead of think.
"A knife is so much easier to utilize than any gun."
"That's so, if you haven't practiced with a gun. A gun will always be deadlier than a knife."
"What if there are obstacles?"
"Not even a knife will get through those obstacles."Cassidy said. A sly smile appeared on her face. "You don't know what to say back, do you, Dylan?" The guy looked annoyed at Cassidy.
"Of course I know what to say back."Dylan defended himself. "Though I hope you realize that you're getting on my nerves, Cas." Cassidy smirked at Dylan. "No one can see you prepare when with a knife, if you're doing it well. Though a gun has to be loaded before the attack. So you will always have to get out a gun before you assault, while a knife can be taken out during the violation."
Cassidy nodded. "But when you have a knife against a gun, who would you expect to lay on the ground dead?" My eyes widened a bit.
"The person holding the knife."I mumbled mildly. Both Dylan and Cassidy turned their heads to me. I looked back a bit nervous. "What? I'm just saying what I think is the answer. Unless you have a very good reason the person with the knife has a chance, I have learned guns will always overpower knives." Dylan sighed, while Cassidy got back her arrogant smirk.
"The man with a knife has a higher chance of coming out alive."Dylan said, confident on proving a point. I rolled my eyes. "Not only are they deadlier, they're also faster, and that means you can kill the person with the gun before they could even pull the trigger."
"Faster than a bullet?"Cassidy questioned, scoffing. "Impossible."
"It's true though."Dylan replied. I could spot a proud look in his eyes. He did have a good point, but rarely anyone would agree. Guns were now seen as the deadliest weapons... But these points actually proved knives were more convenient than guns. I started playing with my hair, silently thinking of this. Cassidy glared at Dylan, but I knew she considered the fact that she just lost this argument. Dylan smiled lightly.
"Guns are more painful."Cassidy said as a last resort.
"But a knife is deadlier."Dylan replied.
"Let's just stop this argument."I sighed. "You're both correct. It just depends on how you use a weapon that determines how deadly it is." Dylan made an agreeing sound, though Cassidy didn't seem very happy, but she also agreed. I got back to eating breakfast, while realizing just how tired I was. Waking up early wasn't exactly my favorite thing.
When I was finished I went back to my room, gathering some requirements for my different training courses. Quite unique things to bring along with you. Six to nine hours of different training techniques for every day. If I remembered correctly, from next day on new applications were going to be turned down. In a way, I might just be lucky with finding this place in time. At least I had a place to learn how to avoid scenarios like two days ago. I still felt torn apart by just thinking about it. The fact that someone could do that to a sixteen year old boy.
A knock on the door. "Jessie, open up!" I recognized Cassidy's voice behind the door and stumbled to open it for her. In the doorway stood indeed Cassidy with all equipment needed for training. "Stop lazing around, Jessie. We don't have forever!" I chuckled.
"I know, I know."I said to her, getting together my stuff. "I'm almost done, see?" Cassidy sighed.
"Be quick, Jess."she said as she hopped on my bed and started testing if it was springy enough. I smiled as I shooed her away from my bed.
We walked through the corridors, on our way to the training grounds. Tyson and the biggest part of the group were already there. Dylan was the only person greeting us, so we decided to go for the less awkward situation and stay with Dylan. I took a quick look at our trainer, Tyson, though I immediately regretted it.
"He's quite intimidating."I muttered. Dylan chuckled.
"Intimidating, but hot."Cassidy replied with a smile. I took another look at Tyson, but couldn't really see how he could be seen as hot. I gave Cassidy a worried look, which made her laugh. "Don't worry, he's certainly not the hottest here."she said throughout her laughing. "Tyson is already pretty handsome, but look at that guy." She pointed at the blueish haired guy I remembered giving me bread and my Ekans. I didn't even realize I was in the same group as him, let stand that he was even part of the newbies. He seemed more of an assistant. "He is hot. And him, there." Cassidy pointed at a brown haired guy with a body that already told me he already had some experience with fighting. "And let's not forget Dylan here."
Dylan put his hand through his hair and posed for Cassidy. "I know, I'm awesome." Cassidy took out one of the wooden sticks and let it come on Dylan's head, swift and powerful. Dylan put his hand over the place the wooden stick had hit his head. "Got the message."he murmured in pain.
"Are you okay?"I asked to Dylan. He nodded, though he was writhing in pain. I frowned, and stood up to ask Tyson if he had something cold for on Dylan's when I already heard him barking at us.
"Training hasn't started yet, you idiots!" The entire group went silent. Cassidy almost let go of the wooden weapon in her hand in fear, but she kept a hold on it, and even had the courage to take a step forward. I looked carefully. That step was a challenge, to Tyson. And the tall, muscled man didn't look all that happy with Cassidy's cheeky attitude. I reached out for Cassidy's shoulder.
"You're not ready yet, Cas."I warned her. She took a deep breath. "First train. If you really want to prove yourself this badly, do it later." Cassidy looked at me, and then turned her head to Tyson. A glimmer of satisfaction in his dark eyes. Cassidy sighed and did a step backward, turning around to help Dylan. The soft murmuring from the other people came up again. Even though I was supposed to be helping Dylan, my eyes were focused on the blue haired guy. And he gave me a look of interest back, before returning to whatever he was doing.
It didn't take long or Tyson yelled, "Get in line!" We all made perfect line, our eyes on Tyson. I noticed how Cassidy was tensed up. Most likely because she already had ruined the chance of being on good terms with Tyson. And who knew what kind of trainer Tyson was.
( time skip )
"You're doing it wrong."the blonde next to me said cockily.
"I can see that."I snarled back. I pulled the trigger again and hit somewhere far off the target. The girl clapped sarcastically and I shot her a glare.
"Well done, well done."she said in the most annoying tone. Of course I could've expected these kind of people here. The ones that thought they were better than everyone. "You seem to have it all perfectly under control, don't you?"
"Telling me that I suck won't help anything."I snapped at her. She stiffened.
"I was gonna explain to you how you're not using your hips good enough, and that you need to stand differently, but if you don't want my advice, I don't see why I should give it to you."she said. "Oh, well, good luck with sucking at it!" I looked at her as she carefully placed her feet on the floor and kept the gun in front of her. Taking her time before pulling the trigger, and easily hitting the target. Not a perfect shot, but at least it hit the wooden target.
"How did you...?"I asked with open mouth. She rolled her eyes, but walked to me.
"You need to bend your knees a bit first."she said, as she showed me how to do it. I followed her movements. "Use your hips more like this, and try to focus on your hips more instead of your feet." I did exactly as she told me to. "Now put the gun before you, aim. And don't close even one eye, under any circumstances." I nodded, looking at the target before me. "Now breathe, and take your time with pulling the trigger. There is no time limit."
"Okay."I said confidently. I breathed in and out, focusing. Then I finally pulled the trigger, though even that was rather slow. The bullet flew through the air. Hitting the wall, but just few inches away from the target. The blonde smiled.
"Close enough."she said. I looked at where the bullet had hit the wall, and smiled back.
"Thanks."
"Don't think you're done."she said, walking back to her own spot. "You still haven't hit target." I nodded, and turned back to the target, following the girl's steps. "I'm Paige, in case you were wondering." I looked back at her, smiling brightly.
"I'm Jessie."

I have no time to check the spelling and grammar and stuff, so sorry for that.
Second chapter, done! I don't really know what to say about it. It's still not very interesting, but I think it's better than the last.
Meh, isn't important. Hope you liked it though!
