Chapter 1
Hello, I'm LapisLazulli2. If you haven't read the description (which I doubt), there is one thing you need to know, before reading.
This is a spin-off from False Hope (Pokémon). It isn't necessary to read False Hope first, but it's probably better. I also don't own Pokémon, like you all probably know.
Anyway, I hope you like the story, and have fun!
For the ones that need a pre-cap (if you need a longer pre-cap, Jessie's pieces were in Chapter 11 and 12 of False Hope):
I stepped into the man's large office. I didn't see his face only the back of a chair with a shadow in it. The room was filled with televisions that showed different places. One of them was a street. It was filmed out of a seat of a restaurant and I realized that someone was filming this on this right moment. The man should have spies everywhere. There was also a pokémon centre. There just came a woman in with a hurt Seel. And so were there dozens of screens showing a certain place.
"She's here."the woman said. I was getting annoyed. What did they want from me?
"Good."a low male voice said. And the chair slowly turned around. A man sat in the chair. He had brown hair and an orange tuxedo on. On top of him sat a young Meowth. "Can you say your name?"
"Jessie."I said, I tried to sound cool but failed. I could feel the fear coming closer to my mind. But I couldn't let the fear in. I needed to stay focused, now more than ever.
"And why are you here?"the "boss" asked.
"I want to learn how to stand up for myself."
Day: Tuesday (the 11th of September)
I tried to get a bit calmer by focusing on only one thing, in this case my breathing. The woman walked before me through long, dark hallways. What kind of place was this? What had I gotten myself into? An endless amount of questions coming up in my mind, but none that I could answer. At least, not yet.
What did I actually know about this place? This was one I did know the answer of. Nothing. I knew nothing. I had let my fear and weaknesses make decisions for me, even though I knew rash decisions could get you into trouble. And this place was the most likely place to prepare for trouble. Not only because of the atmosphere here, also because of how these people acted. Mysterious, graceful, defensive and prepared. I maybe wanted to become stronger, but at what cost? I shook my head. Too late to doubt my decision now. At least I would become stronger, that was all that mattered.
"Your room."the woman said, opening an iron door. The inside of the room was undoubtedly expensive, but with that also the most beautiful room I had ever seen. And surprisingly modern. I had never expected that one day, I'd be living in a room like this.
"Beautiful."I whispered.
"Need anything, say it."the woman replied. "Though I think this is all you need. There are computers for if you need to search anything. Traps that differ from room to room. You can find every last one of the traps explained in the manual. As soon as you read it, burn it, and remember everything of it. Weapons lie in a safe. Together with some other stuff you probably will need. And I also suggest you go change into a better uniform."
"A black uniform, like you?"I questioned. The woman stiffened.
"Of course not. My uniform says that I already am part of Team Rocket. You still need to earn that respect. That's your goal."
"My goal is to earn myself a black uniform anyone can make?"I asked monotone. I sighed. "Such a waste of time."
"This uniform isn't just black linen."the woman snapped. "Wear this uniform, then you're wearing a symbol. Every year people come to see if they're good enough to be part of this organization, and out of hundreds, only less than ten remain. This uniform is showing that they got through the hard training Team Rocket gives them, and with that they have our respect, and we have their undying loyalty." She looked a bit pissed, so I decided to just nod. The woman made a last growl, before she walked out of the room and slammed the door shut.
I sighed again and walked through the room. A large bed, in red. People always said red was a romantic color, though I could only see blood. A man lying on the ground, stabbed himself as no one watched. A young boy, on the ground in the rain, shot in the head. Blood, death, pain.
I closed my eyes and thought of something else. Something that wouldn't let me think about yesterday. I didn't want to think about that any longer.
I found the manual, which I immediately picked up to read. But I didn't open it. The woman had said that I could only look through it once, I had to burn it after. Though I didn't really see a place to burn anything in. I quickly walked through the room, closing the curtains, checking for safety cameras and making it impossible for anyone to come inside. I put the manual on my desk, and first changed into my uniform.
A dark purple uniform. There were different models for how the weather would be. I traded my ballerinas for sneakers, and my waitress' outfit got replaced by something more fit to fight in.
I walked back into the room, picking up the manual and finally opening it. I just had to test every trap, every weapon, every password, before I could close this tiny book.
( time skip )
Someone knocked on the door. I quickly looked what time it was. Definitely not my time to be resting on my bed and reading a book. I stood up and laid down the book on my bed. I opened the door and rose my eyebrow at the man in front of me.
"Dinner time."the man said. I smiled.
"I figured."I replied back. But unlike every other person I ever met, I didn't get a smile in return. Not even a fake, annoyed one. I just got that emotionless face as the man turned around and walked away. Black uniform, so he had already passed. Was that what was going to happen to you if you passed? Would you become an emotionless bastard? I sighed. And closed the door behind me, locking it immediately.
The dining room was large with lots of tables, like in a normal restaurant. Unfortunately, I didn't have any friends to sit with. I ordered fish with a salad and sat down, eating on my own. A girl my age came towards me.
"Hey, ehm, do you mind if I...?"she asked gesturing to a chair on the table. I looked at the chair and then at her.
"Sure, you can borrow the chair."I said with a full mouth. The girl chuckled lightly.
"I meant to ask if I could sit down beside you."she said, still chuckling. Now, she didn't wait for an answer and just sat down on the chair. "You new?" I nodded hesitantly, which was apparently to the girl a sign to start talking. "I've been here for about a week. If you need any advice, stay away from the gossiping girls. I bet they won't make it through the year. And they'll only give you trouble and doubts." I nodded, swallowing my piece of fish.
"I don't think I can fit in with any group."I said gloomily.
"Of course you can, the only thing you need to do is be a Team Rocket badass."the girl said supportingly. "Seeing you, that won't be hard. I can easily get you through it, if you let me." A smile appeared on the girl her face. She stuck out her hand, and as I shook it she said, "Cassidy."
"Jessie."I said as in some sort of reply. The woman had said I'd fit in here. Maybe, she was right. This might be a place for people who would learn how to fight, but it wasn't some sort of haunted place. Maybe my rushed choice had been my best one. I wouldn't only learn how to stand up for myself and fight, I'd also learn how it is to have friends. I smiled at Cassidy as she began eating her lasagna.
"So, what brought you here?"Cassidy asked.
"Oh, you know, life."I replied, not in the mood to go back outside the restaurant, seeing that dead boy on the ground, again. I saw him in my nightmares, and that was already too often. Cassidy chuckled a bit.
"The obvious answer."she said with a smile. "I hope it won't be too hard to get that uniform. I heard it's damn hard. But for now, it's just training. I'm not exactly sure what for, but it keeps you busy and it isn't at all that bad. The people are all just badasses, and we get taught all kinds of stuff. You'll love it here, I'm sure." I smiled.
"I already do."I said happily. "Because I met you, Cassidy." A flushed pink color appeared on her cheeks as she quickly laughed that off. I just sat back and smiled at my first friend, ever.
Then a tall man came in, wearing the iconic Team Rocket uniform. He looked through the groups of people. "For the ones that don't know me. My name is Tyson, and I already am a member of Team Rocket. You all still have to prove yourselves. Since this years group is larger than the last, I'll be taking twenty-four of you under my training, the others will be trained by Annie." A woman stepped a bit forwards so that we could see her. She had huge blond hair in things that looked like two buns. Makeup everywhere on her face. I saw Tyson doing his best to look normal with her next to him. "The twenty-five people on my team are: Charisse, Pete, Petrel, Wendy, Biff, Paige, James, Cassidy, Clint, Lance, Wesley, Faith, Pepper, Viper, Jessie, Attila, Alicia, Polly, Silver, Alexandra, Theresa, Dylan, Valerie, Tanya."
"The name is Butch!"someone yelled angrily. I looked around, and saw a greenhaired guy looking grumpily. Some people chuckled, while the others just looked at the guy with that look of disgust I knew so well. Cassidy rolled her eyes.
"That's what I said."Tyson replied a bit annoyed. Butch grumbled, but didn't say anything back. "And if all of you are okay with this, I'll see you tomorrow during training." Everyone murmured an agreeing sound, and went back to eating. I wondered how hard training would be. I had never held any weapon before, so it might feel weird at first. But I was sure I could do it. I wasn't here for no reason. Arceus wanted me to be here. And I should follow the orders of a God.

First chapter, check! It's always hard to make a beginning chapter. You need to write a real beginning, but it can't be boring either. Anyway, I hope you liked it. I personally think it sucks. XD But I'll make it better, I swear.
