Chapter 00

Welcome to my...um...third KHR story? *scratches back of head* I'm thinking of deleting "It Was Normal Once..." and replacing it with this. I think I need to re-plan that one. Um, enjoy?

________________________________________________________________________________________________

It was a normal day at Nami-chuu. The sun was shining brightly down on the students, who were all laughing and smiling with one another. It really does seem like the perfect day for everyone.

Except for our dear protagonist of course.

Oozora Aka, a first year in Nami-chuu, made her way to school with a straight face. Her dark red hair was made in a messy, slightly grown out pixie cut with bangs that made it look like a guys haircut. Not like she actually cared though. She never actually did care about how she looked; she only cared that she felt comfortable in the clothes she wore. Many people stared at her as she walked past, whispering the newest rumors about her. She sighed as she pushed her wide brown-rimmed glasses up her nose.

'Do people have nothing better to talk about?' she thought in amusement as she neared the school gates.

'Honestly, they say I don't matter and then they talk about me anyway. You're clearly giving me importance in your life you idiots.' she thought again.

Her eyes wandered around the area, as if searching for something to feed her boredom. It was then that she saw the scowling demon prefect of Nami-chuu, Hibari Kyoya. The black-haired teenager was standing right in front of the gate, glaring at every passing student with hardened steel blue eyes like usual.

Aka gazed at him with minute interest flickering in her brown eyes. She started to wonder about the mysterious, yet dangerous prefect, like she did everyday.

What kind of joy could he possibly gain from doing this? Heck, why did he even do this job with so much...passion, for lack of a better word. The thoughts plagued her as she walked past the prefect casually, not even an inch of tension in her system like she usually did. The said prefect however, always seemed to notice that about her. The mere thought that somebody didn't manifest fear because of him, bugged him constantly. Another thing that irritated him was the fact that she wore the guys uniform and not the girls uniform.

Unfortunately, the thoughts that consume both Aka and Hibari will have to wait a bit. As Aka walked to her class, she noticed the only other loner in her grade, Sawada Tsunayoshi. You would think that the two loners would band together and be the best of friends, but you would be surprised.

Sawada Tsunayoshi was creeped out by Oozora Aka, and Oozora Aka disliked Sawada Tsunayoshi. The reason for Tsuna being creeped out? The way she stared at people that intrigued her is what creeped him out, not like he knew why she stared at them though. The reason for Tsuna being disliked? Because Aka thinks it's cowardly of him to just take the insults. She would only go near him if he tried to improve. As you can see, staying away was the only solution. Hence why Aka passed by the brunette as if he didn't exist.

When she made it to her class, Aka scanned the room. It wasn't completely full, but there were small groups of chattering students scattered around the room. She walked to her seat by the window in the second to last row, ignoring everybody else. The minute she sat down, she looked outside instead of taking out a book like usual. She saw Hibari staring straight at her with a piercing gaze. Aka raised her eyebrow at him. This is outside of his usual behavior, she noticed.

But, it seemed like she was not the only one who noticed something. Hibari had noticed that she didn't take out a book.

'Hn,' he thought suspiciously. 'The herbivore didn't take out a book today.'

They both stared at each other for the longest time, neither yielding in the battle. But it was then that they both shared the same, exact thought:

'Why did the prefect/herbivore look over at me?'

For Hibari, he decided that he would go bite her to death later. As for Aka, she decided that she would go confront him about the staring. With both reaching different resolutions, they turned away from one another. Unfortunately for the female protagonist, class had just started. Aka cursed the prefect mentally for not letting her read her latest book.

At the same time, Hibari cursed her mentally as well for not letting him punish those who disobeyed him. We can now see these two won't get along.

"So today is parent participation day." Aka's teacher stated. Aka rolled her eyes at how obvious that was, with the parents standing in the back of the classroom, chattering ad infinitum about things she didn't care about. She listened as the teacher decided to do math first, and called on Yamamoto Takeshi, the popular baseball player. Aka recalled that he was just as bad in math as Tsuna was. Her lip quirked up slightly at the thought of a popular guy going through public humiliation.

'More like social execution.' she corrected herself mentally. She watched as Yamamoto guessed the answer. Aka mentally calculated it, and found that he was right. She stared at him in complete disbelief.

Does he have a twin?

"That's correct." the teacher said, disbelieving of the fact that one of his worst students answered correctly.

"Yay! Lucky!" Yamamoto cheered, his light brown eyes glittering with happiness.

It was then that the silver-haired genius of the class, Gokudera Hayato, muttered something along the lines of, "That's not so hard..."

The teacher then challenged him, and faced defeat when Gokudera answered the question correctly. He then moved from him to the Tsuna.

"Well, if Yamamoto got lucky then maybe you might Sawada."

"Eh!?!" Tsuna squealed. He felt himself start to sweat at the thought of getting the wrong answer, and going through more public humiliation. Through his mental frenzy for the answer, Aka looked back out the window again. This time, she didn't see the prefect that she observed everyday. She sighed, running a hand through her blood-red hair.

"N-Nine?" Tsuna stuttered out, but then quickly yelled in pain.

"What happened Sawada?" the teacher exclaimed. Aka looked back at the brunette as he explained that he felt something hit him. Aka scanned the room, only to rest on the infamous baby hitman she knew nothing about. She stared at him with such intensity that he turned to look at her. Aka didn't shy away, and only stared at him more intently.

Meanwhile, Tsuna mentally berated himself for not standing up to Reborn the day before. Reborn had insisted that he come for the class, only for Tsuna to keep rejecting the idea. The conversation ended with a whack to the head from Reborn, and a cry of pain from Tsuna that night.

Gokudera tried to show the answer to Tsuna, making the number three with his hand. This attempt failed because of Tsuna's moment of stupidity (which happens frequently in Aka's opinion). When the brunette thought that it couldn't get any worse, two children showed up.

"The answer is poo!" the child in the cow suit announced, raising his hand as a small chinese child climbed up in the desk next to him, trying to stop the idiocy he was committing. As the future mafia boss started shouting at the chaos that was ensuing so far, the short-haired girl kept staring at Reborn, who never took his eyes off of her.

Reborn had a growing curiosity about the girl in front of him. She wasn't going to be essential to the Vongola family, yet he felt like she was important in some way. Reborn then turned away from her - a part of him still not wanting to stop staring - and observed what was ensuing in the classroom. Aka looked away as well, turning her attention to the front of the classroom where she noticed the teacher announcing that now it would be self-studying time.

Aka sighed in boredom. Tsuna hadn't caused this from what she was hearing, yet she heard the parents blaming him for it. She wanted to slap Tsuna upside the head and yell at him to prove them wrong. The light fuchsia-haired woman standing next to the door had brought them in. Even if she was staring at the hitman, it didn't mean that her ears were occupied too.

When Tsuna did nothing in rebuttal, she sighed in disappointment. She found herself sighing a lot now-a-days, and she sensed that she would do it moreduring the next few weeks. She didn't know why.

"Class, settle down."

Aka's train of thought was broken by the order. Only, when she looked up, she found the hitman now dressed up as a teacher. She raised an eyebrow at him.

"My name is Rebo-yama. I'll be your teacher for now." Reborn announced.

Aka stared at him in disbelief.

Does he really think that he can get away that easily!?! This is completely abnormal, nobody would believe it! Right? I mean, the human race can't be so pitiful that they actually...

She turned around, and watched as the parents talked amongst themselves about how young the teacher was. When Reborn greeted them, they simply bowed back and watched.

...believe this? How can they let this slide!?!

Aka raised her hand, determined to show that the baby was going to be an annoyance and not beneficial today at all. Reborn didn't bother looking over at her as he wrote the problem on the board. Aka's jaw dropped.

Is this baby on crack?

"Now, solve this." Reborn instructed. One of the students got infuriated with the display.

"I'm not going to listen to some crazy teacher-"

He was silence with a piece of chalk piercing his head. With a puff of the white powder, the boy fell down. The boys mother was up next, steam coming out of her ears in anger. She was fortunately the next victim, and with another puff of smoke, she fell down unconscious.

"Anybody else?" Reborn questioned, another piece of chalk at the ready. It was then that he ruled the class by fear. Well, almost all.

Aka stood up, her chair screeching behind her.

"I object to this! You're nothing but a child! Furthermore, you have already disrespected the-"

She saw a piece of chalk flying towards her forehead and dodged.

"-elders in this classroom. There's no reason why we should have to listen to a mere child!" she finished, her irritation now out. The class stared at her. They never bothered to get near her, but they thought she would die in the next minute or so. The cow child - Lambo - popped his head into the room.

"The answer is poo!" he announced. Reborn threw a cannonball of some sort at him, blowing up a portion of the classroom. Aka gaped at the sight. How were none of the parents reacting to this!?! Can nobody call the police!?!

Does common sense even exist in their heads!?! she mentally screeched.

"Did I forget to mention that if you answer this right, you get a place in the mafia?" Reborn stated, tapping his piece of chalk against the board.

The door creaked open, a crawling Gokudera outside of it. With determination etched onto his features, he pointed at the board and answered it.

"It's the square root of b!"

Reborn glanced at him, silence enveloping the air for one mere second.

"You're already in the mafia."

And with that, another cannonball was thrown.

"Reborn! Please stop this!" Tsuna cried out from his seat. Aka glanced at him in surprise. He actually stood up to someone. Aka thought that he earned a gold star in her book. But then again, that's one gold star in hundreds of pages of failure. So, he didn't completely pass. But he was changing.

"Wait!" Aka exclaimed. The class fell silent.

"If you have one student answer this right, then you'll stop this madness?" she questioned him. She really didn't want her day to be even more noisy than it already was.

"Yes, but it will be a different problem since Gokudera answered that one."

Aka nodded and waited for Reborn to write his problem on the board. She watched as the white markings started to cover the green area again. If anything, she was smart; and she knew it. When Reborn was finished writing the problem, Aka stared at it for a second or two. She figured it out within the next minute, stunning the class.

"The answer is the cubed root of 2b-2a^4." she said as she glared at the infant with venom. She hated it when people went and ruined her day. Just like this one hitman. Reborn smirked.

"Congratulations Oozora Aka. You're now a part of the mafia."

Aka could have sworn that a vein popped. She slapped a smile on her face, but it was wavering consistently with the need to shout at the baby.

"I appreciate the offer, but I'm going to decline." she said, a dark aura around her. The class shivered upon the sight. She looked so malevolent. Reborn watched as she cracked her knuckles.

"Besides," she stepped out from behind her desk. "You said that you would leave if I answered the question correctly, right?" she finished, a venomously sweet tone coating her words.

Now the entire class was scared as she took steps towards Reborn. Reborn sensed a high level of blood-thirst from her, as much as a professional hitman would have when hunting someone down. The smirk still stayed on his face.

"Yes. But since I'm still your teacher I still have to continue." Reborn stated. Aka felt multiple veins popping on her head, and she knew that she was going to beat him down one day.

"Then you can't start this mafia business again, are we clear?" she snapped, her brown eyes glaring vehemently at him. Reborn simply nodded in agreement. Aka went back to her desk, grumbling about how the world was unreasonable. Tsuna was mentally shrieking as Aka sat back down. Now who would stop Reborn? Was his thought.

Reborn watched her as she took out a book and started reading, not even paying attention to the looks of her classmates who wished for her to stand up and stop the madness. Then they remembered that Tsuna knew the baby. The glares were then directed at him to do something. The brunette darted sweating as he got up.

"Reborn, please stop!" Tsuna pleaded. Reborn - who didn't really care about what Tsuna had to say right then - made his chameleon change into a gun.

"Then teach this class instead Dame-Tsuna!"

And with that, the gun was shot. Aka looked up in time to see Tsuna get shot with the glowing red bullet, her eyes widening in surprise. Did the baby kill him!?! Her worries went away instantly when he got back up while stripping.

His battle underwear.

The thought made Aka laugh at the madness in front of her. Everyone looked at her with weird looks as she roared in laughter. And so, the rest of the day went on with Aka laughing spastically and Tsuna rage-teaching, all while earning another two golden stars in Aka's book of failures.

How was it? Good? Bad? Should I replace the other one with this one? Suggestions?
