Chapter 1: Broken [Edited]
"Greninja has fainted. The winner is Charizard. Therefore the match goes to Alain!!" Yelled the Referee. The crowd erupted with excitement.
Ash sighed in content. The closest league battle he has ever had, finally over. Even against the odds, he still came so close. After picking up Greninja, he walked up to Alain and shook his hand for the battle.
"Thanks for the intense battle Ash. That was the closest battle I have ever had." Alain stated with a smile, seemingly happy about the battle too.
"No problem Alain. I couldn't have asked for a better battle." The pallet native said with a thumbs up. "Good luck on whatever you face next."
Up in the stands, Serena, Clemont and Bonnie looked down in slight sadness at the result. They truly thought Ash had won this time.
"He... lost. I... I can't believe it." Bonnie voiced sadly.
But unknown to her, Clemont and Serena shared a nod, clearly understanding what their next move should be.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
'Wow. What a journey. Never thought I could come so close and also be lucky to achieve that bond with Greninja.' Ash thought as the plane landed in the Viridian City runway.
He thought back to the multiple leagues he faced; the loses, the victories, but most importantly, the progress. 'Top 16 in Indigo, Top 8 in Silver and Ever Grande, Top 4 in Lily of the Valley, Top 8 again in Vertress, then finally Runner Up in Lumiose. Next time for sure.' He thought with excitement.
"Come on Pikachu. This is our stop." I wake up the little mouse Pokemon from his nap. "Chaaaa..." Pikachu yawns as he stretches out to wake up.
The pair stepped off the plane to smell the Kanto air. Or as Ash likes to call it, 'home'. He and Pikachu high-tailed it to their house to see his mother again after a lomg time.
They scared Mr. Mime with how fast they ran up to the house. "Hey Mr. Mime. Could you let us in?"
Mr. Mime, after getting over the initial shock, complied and opened the door and reveals an odd, yet interesting surprise. All of Ash's old traveling companions were sitting in the living room. Misty, Brock, May, Max, Dawn, Cilan, Iris, Clemont, Serena and Bonnie. Even Drew was there for some odd reason, along with Barry and Paul. Most of them looked seriously angry and glared harshly when Ash walked in the door.
"Hi guys. It's been a while hasnt it? Why are yo-" I started.
"SAVE IT KETCHUM!" "WE AREN'T HERE TO CONGRATULATE YOU!" Yelled Paul and Misty respectively.
Puzzled as to what's going on, Ash looked at them, waiting for another drastic response. His Pokemon seemed to be growing restless all of the sudden. 'What in the world...'
"Ash, We think you need to give up on your dream." May stated bluntly.
"You have lost league after league constantly. 6 times in a row and nothing to show for it." Max exclaimed with disappointment.
"Well explain the Battle Frontier and the Orange League." Ash said as calm as he thought he could make it. Anger was seething within the young trainer as he listened to their words. Pikachu was sparking, ready to attack at any time next to him.
"Tch, the Orange League is barely a thing. Nobody hardly knows about it anyways." Sneered Clemont. Ash glanced off to his side and took note that Bonnie was starting to look annoyed with Clemont, as she was giving her brother a death glare.
"As for the Battle Frontier, nobody even has heard of it cause they aren't as well known as the gyms. No offense Barry." Dawn said simply.
"None taken."
"Face it Ash, you're weak. You haven't accomplished anything worth noting about, and you don't have any strong Pokemon." Drew plainly said.
"Weak? My Greninja could wipe all of you out in one blow!" Ash exclaimed proudly.
"Don't act like you're so good. We know you drugged Greninja so you could achieve that power. Nobody could do that without a boost." Claimed Serena. Ash gave her a ugly glare as she stated that.
"You think I would drug my Pokemon!? Serena, you of all people should know how the Bond Phenomenon works. Why are you all doing this!?" Ash demanded.
"You've kept everyone from achieving their dreams. We could have done so much more if you never came into our lives!" May said angrily.
"On top of that, we are taking your Pokemon. You have made them as weak as yourself, so they need to have a second chance before you completely ruin them." Barry said.
"Just give up Ash. I don't want my future husband to be stuck as a failure forever. You've already lost too many times. It's not going to happen." Serena pleaded.
Ash looked at my mother. "You think so too?" He questioned as Delia formed a horrifying glare.
"At least your father was successful. You are an embarrassment to him as well as to me." Delia said angrily.
To say Ash and his team was pissed was an understatement. He wished his ears were betraying him, and that this was all some stupid nightmare on the plane, but it wasn't. His mother as well as everyone was denying that any chance he has as a trainer doesn't exist. His emotions were going over the edge, as he was about to explode.
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL OF YOU!!" Yelled Brock. Everyone looked at him, as they were scared into silence, their voices taken by an invisible force. Brock walked over and stood with his long time friend. "Ash has done everything to help us achieve our dreams! I would never have been a Pokemon Doctor without him!"
"That goes for me too!" Cilan said as he walked towards me.
"I can't believe any you right now!" Bonnie screamed. Clemont started to glare at her as she ran from the group and grabbed onto Ash's arm for reassurance. "Ash has always been there for us and you want to turn your backs on him? Well not me! He is a brother to me and he always will be!"
"BONNIE GET BACK OVER HERE NOW! I'M YOUR BROTHER! YOU CAN'T DISOBEY ME!" Clemont yelled.
"Yeah. Come and sit with me Bonnie. Ash isn't worth the ground he stands on." Max said
"SHUT IT PLAYBOY! I'M NOT INTERESTED!" Ash looked at her and noticed her blue eyes seemed to flare up. A blue tinge was slowly forming around her body as her anger increased. Ash widened his eyes, surprise evident as he realized her new development.
'This might not end well...'
She turned to her brother. "AND AS FOR YOU, YOU'RE NOT MY BROTHER ANYMORE! ASH IS THE ONLY ONE I CAN ACCEPT AS A BROTHER NOW!" She yelled with such power behind her words that the others recoiled slightly.
Ash let a smirk form on the edge of his mouth. 'Glad I'm not the only one anymore.'
Paul, Clemont and Iris all stood up after recovering from Bonnie's tone. "THAT'S ENOUGH! YOU GUYS COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW! HE IS A FAILURE OF A TRAINER AND HAS HELD EVERY SINGLE ONE US BACK CONSTANTLY! HE DOESN'T DESERVE YOUR SUPPORT!" Paul snarled at us.
"BONNIE, LISTEN TO PAUL AND GET AWAY FROM HIM RIGHT NOW! YOU'RE COMING BACK HOME WITH ME!" Clemont yelled as he quickly tried to grab Bonnie. He took her arm and yanked her hard. You could hear a crack coming from her shoulder as she cried in pain.
And that is when Ash finally snapped.
He wretched Bonnie out of Clemont's grasp, grabbed her by the waist, and kicked Clemont back, making him fall on the coffee table, breaking the mahogany piece in the process. The others tried to step up, but they saw Ash glow a sheer color of Navy Blue as anger overtook him. His voice was induced with power as he began to speak.
"YOU THINK I HAVE HELD YOU GUYS BACK? I NEVER TOLD ANY OF YOU THAT YOU HAD TO JOIN ME! YOU HAD THE CHOICE TO LEAVE AT ANY TIME BUT YOU DIDN'T! MISTY, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE ANY POWEFUL WATER TYPES IF IT WASN'T FOR ME! MAX, YOU HAVEN'T EVEN BATTLED A GYM AND YOU CALL ME WEAK!? I COULD BEAT YOU WHILE BLINDFOLDED PIPSQUEAK! DAWN, MAY, YOU BOTH WOULDN'T BE NEAR AS GOOD AT CONTESTS IF I DIDN'T HELP YOU PRACTICE! IRIS, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE EVEN MET DRAGONITE AND EMOLGA OR GAINED EXCADRILL'S TRUST IF I WASN'T THERE TO SUPPORT YOU! CLEMONT, I HAD TO HELP YOU DEFEAT CLEMBOT TO CLAIM BACK 'YOUR' GYM FOR YOU! SERENA, I KNEW YOU HAD A CRUSH ON ME BUT I DON'T CARE AND I NEVER DID, NOR WILL I EVER CARE! YOU WOULDN'T HAVE EVEN LEFT YOUR MOTHER'S HOUSE TO BE A PERFORMER IF IT WASN'T FOR ME! DREW, WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE? I CAN DESTROY YOU ANYTIME IF I WANTED TO PLAYBOY! PAUL AND BARRY, I GOT HIGHER THAN EITHER OF YOU IN THE SINNOH LEAGUE SO YOU CAN BOTH SHUT UP! I ALWAYS HELPED YOU GUYS AND THIS IS WHAT I GET AS THANKS!" Ash finally calmed down and let out a sigh as his anger dispersed and his glow faded. He turned towards his true friends as they looked at him in shock and awe. "Let's go. They aren't worth our time."
But as he says that, he heard a slight metallic sheen behind him. He flared his Aura again, prepared to dodge at any possible second. But then came Bonnie's scream.
"ASH, NOOOO!!" An explosion followed up quickly afterwards. He turned and suddenly saw Paul up against the wall, smoking and groaning in pain, with a knife next to him on the floor. Then everyone turned to Bonnie, who had her entire body coated in blue as she panted from slight exhaustion.
She then noticed what she did and her Aura faded as she looked down on her hands. "A-Ash... w-what did I just do?" She questioned with her voice shaking.
"Don't worry Bonnie. I can explain all of it later. It's alright now." Ash said with a soft, soothing tone to help her stay calm. Then he flipped switches and turned on traitors with a horrifying death glare, making them step back.
"Don't you dare try that again! If you want me gone this bad, then I'll go. However, don't even think that I will quit. That will never happen." Ash stormed out with his only friends followinh right behind him.
After a quick walk, they were on rhe doorstep of the Pokemon Lab, preparing to knock. But just before Brock knocked, they saw the door open with an auburn haired guy about Ash's age at the doorway.
"Alright gramps, I'll go check to-" He stopped before his eyes landed on the group. "Hey! I was about to come looking for you Ashy-boy. Gramps and I have a gift for your Runner-Up spot in Kalos."
He then noticed the tension and the upset faces among the group and saw that Pikachu kept looking back at Ash's house in paranoia, which made Gary frown. "Did... did something happen? You guys look like gramps when a trainer abandons a Pokemon at his lab."
"Can we just come in please. It's... it's a long story." Cilan asked politely.
Gary beckoned the group inside, where they saw Tracey sketching an image of his Maril with a Squirtle, and the senior Professor Oak typing away ay his desk. He rose his head up as he saw them walk in.
"Ash, congratulations my boy. Second place is very impressive. I am so proud of you. You've come a long ways since the Indigo League." Professor Oak exclaimed as he stood up from his desk.
"Well at least you are still proud of me..." Ash sighed as he mumbled the words.
"What happened to you guys?" Tracey asked as he came back, his Maril in his arms as he expressed his concerns. Ash was not in the mood, so Brock and Cilan took the liberty of explaining what happened earlier.
"THEY DID WHAT?!?" Both professors and the assistant looked like they got slapped before anger overtook them.
"That's why I'm here. I need to leave as soon as possible. They may try to stop me from going so I need to grab my other Pokemon." Ash explained quickly.
The trio nodded. "I will take off your 6-pokemon limit real quick. Now go grab your Pokeballs and hurry." Professor Oak said.
Gary unlocked the back room and he grabbed his Pokeballs. He explained the situation and finally finished by asking them one question. "So who else is with me?"
There was much hesitation before most turned their heads away. Ash sighed and looked down towards the grass at his feet until he felt a nudge from Pikachu. He turned around to see Greninja, Donphan, Noivern, Pidgeot, Scraggy, Torterra, Infernape, Gliscor, Quilava, Talonflame, Hawlucha, Charizard, Gible, Sceptile, Glalie, and Krookodile there, along with a Lucario, which strangely looked familiar.
Gary smirked. "Yeah, about that surprise. This Lucario showed up asking for you about three days ago. Said he was looking for an 'Ash Ketchum.'"
"Really?" Ash then walked up to him with curious eyes. "You asked about me?"
He nodded. "I guess I did find the right place after all. It's me, the Riolu you saved back in Sinnoh, Ash. I wish to join you. That is, if you would have me." He said through aura.
"Is that even a question? Welcome to the team, Lucario!" Ash pulled out a Poke Ball, which Lucario tapped quickly.
Ash then started returning everyone until he felt a hand on his left shoulder. Brock, Bonnie and Cilan were right behind him. "You trying to leave us here? We meant what we said back there. Now where are we headed?" Brock asked with a smirk.
"There is this region I read about while flying back here. It's called the Alola region and it's a good distance from here, and it has new Pokemon. They wouldn't look there." Ash explained quickly.
Oak, Tracey and Gary walked up to us. "If you go there, seek out my cousin Sampson Oak. He looks very similar to me." The professor exclaimed. "And take this, all of you." He handed everyone a new looking Pokedex, including Gary.
"This is called the Ultra Dex. It has all the Pokemon currently known on here, and it stores an infinite number of Pokemon. So you can take all of your Pokemon with you. Take it as an extra parting gift from me, and good luck. Gary also wanted to go with you, so you all better take care."
"Hope you guys stay safe. We're still rooting for you." Tracey said with a reassuring smile.
That's when the door slammed open. The traitors piled out and charged the group.
"Ash, I'll keep them busy. Now go!" Gary yelled.
Ash returned everyone except the few Pokemon he needed. Cilan took Noivern, Brock took Pidgeot, and Bonnie and Ash took his Charizard. They made a quick flyby towards Gary, who was fighting with his Electivire.
"Let's go Gary!" Ash yelled as Gary recalled his Pokemon. Charizard snagged him midair and Pikachu sent another Thunderbolt to insure they would be out of range from their attacks.
"What about Prof. Oak?" Brock asked with worry.
Gary smirked. "Don't worry about gramps. They can't touch him without a lawsuit forming against him. Being a world renown professor has its perks." He says as they sighed in relief.
And with that, they left Kanto behind to leave to a new home. A new beginning for all of them...
Well I finally rewrote the chapter. Hope you all enjoy it. Still the same comment question: Favorite Pokemon Type? I like water the most due to diversity reasons. Hope you are all ok with this. Next rewrite will be up in the coming days.
