A while back I read a book about brain processing. One of the chapters discussed asking your brain for solutions, ideas or other creative outputs you need. The request to the brain must be specific with a low-pressure attitude. I was very skeptical but decided to try it.
It worked! But initially my downloads happened at inconvenient times. A friend suggested I ask my brain to download at a more appropriate time. That worked!
The theory is that when you ask your brain a very specific question, the brain uses subconscious processing to work on a solution while you go about your day. When ideas or answers have formed the brain pushes the information to conscious processing. You become aware of an answer to your very specific request.
I found my attitude needs to be low-pressure. For example, "Hey, can you help me out?" is low-pressure. "I need this in an hour or I am in big trouble!" is high-pressure. From my experience, a low-pressure approach is more productive. A high-pressure request often does not receive an answer by the time I need it (if at all).
If you try it, be sure to remember to request downloads at appropriate times. Request downloads do not occur during work meetings, sleeping or other awkward times when grabbing a pen and paper and suddenly writing copious notes will raise eyebrows or wake you up.
I am often amazed at the results when I use this technique. Over the years, my downloads have included solutions for process and technical challenges, personal dilemmas and creative writing ideas. Give the technique a couple of tries. If it works for you, consider sharing your experience.
Have fun experimenting!
