The Fight
This is the fight,
The fight that will set us free,
But at what cost?
Who will we leave,
Hurt,
Break and scar?
What am I fighting for?
That's the question they ask,
When they don't see my tears.
They don't see the bars,
That were set to oppress,
To force us to conform,
To what is the norm.
Who says this is the 'norm'?
Why can you decide this,
And force people to change?
You fight for equality?
Right, because equality is what?
Telling us no,
suck it up; it gets better,
'Eww gross!'?
Equality isn't these things.
But hey,
What am I fighting for?
When people can't see,
That things need to change,
Or we won't have equality,
No one is better than anyone else,
So why do you treat us different,
For how we feel,
Or who we are?
So really why would I fight,
When this is what I am fighting against?
