Decisions Decisions
I did my first digital art! It was hard but fun and I think your new hero suit looks super badass! Thanks to everyone who voted! I used the top color choices and this is what we get!
"What has you so excited this time?" On your way to Aizawa's office to eat lunch and go over your internship offers Hatsume practically tackled you in excitement and dragged you off to her workspace in the support department. She didn't give you a response as dug through the chaos that was her pile of 'babies,' grinning from ear to ear when she pulled out a briefcase.
"What kind of support hero would I be if I left my best friend without a real hero suit." Hatsume felt immensely pleased when your lips curled into a happy smile. Her going through all the effort to make you a new suit after the other one got ruined was sweet. You hadn't even sent in a new request for a costume, so knowing she did it all on her own made you feel so loved. You knew had the best friend anyone could ask for. "Go put it on so I can see how perfectly I made this baby!" You let our a soft laugh at her, you knew it was going to be perfect, Hatsume never settled for less.
"Right." You gave a short nod of affirmation, now extremely excited to try on your new suit. She shoved the briefcase into your arms, shooing you to the changing station within the support room. You should have been annoyed for her interrupting your lunch time, especially considering food being an important part of you being able to function properly, but her making you a new suit was more exciting than food. Plus if need be, you had class with Hizashi after lunch so you were sure he'd let you finish up your food in his class considering you were his favorite little cyborg.
You slid the suit on, zipping the tight latex-like material, strapped yourself into your boots and gloves, and finally put on the mask, your vision instantly being tinted when the lens activated. Following the directions in your case, you let a burst of light emit from your palms. Slowly, the heating tubes and once clear panels on your suit began to glow a warm, comforting yellow.
Your feathers puffed up in pride at how you looked in your suit. It was so cool, the suit was all black with one sleeve, matching black boots and a single black glove with black metal plating covering your non-artificial hand. There had a holster for energy bars and weapons and lightweight plexiglass tubing that glowed yellow crisscrossing throughout your entire body, providing you with extra warmth. The mask was a replica of your original mask, black with lenses that would enhance your vision from the sky.
"Wow~" You breathed out the word in awe. Looking in the mirror, you looked like a hero. A beacon of glowing yellow, a bright light to fend off the darkness. Maybe it was the costume, maybe it was your new mindset, but putting on your suit, seeing yourself in something that felt more heroic than your last costume made you feel more like a hero than ever. She had outdone herself. "Mei, I'm dressed."
Before you had a chance to move out from the changing station, Mei waltzed in. She had a massive grin on her face as her golden eyes looked gave you a once over, zooming on on every little detail to make sure it was functioning properly and fit well. "Look at you, no look at my baby 784, this bad boy will draw everyone's attention." She let out a cackle imagining how many people will flock to her after seeing her amazing designs and support items she added into your suit. If this wasn't going to help make you a top-tier hero, nothing will. "It makes you look fantastic, like a real hero! What do you think?"
You let out a deep breath, giving Hatsume the one of the sweetest, kindest smiles you had ever given her. You were so pleased. "It's amazing" Your reaction was more than Hatsume planned for. Of course you'd love it, she made it; however, she was not ready for how happy you truly were. She felt validated, loved, her happiness caused her to pull you into a tight hug, practically trying to smother you.
"You're too adorable Hybrid!" She picked the right person to be her best friend...and spokesperson for her skills. "ok time for me to show you all the upgrades this bad boy has." With a tap of her thick bracelet, a projector screen popped up with a diagram of your suit in various stages of deconstruction. Sliding to the bottom, she started from the boots up.
When finished, you were in complete awe that someone had the skill to create such a suit. Other than an entirely new design for your suit, the biggest upgrade came from your feet. Your new boots were created specifically to take the force of when you land and disperse it outward instead of sending all the force into your legs, protecting you from having to slow a landing or any possible injuries on that front. One upgrade created specifically after the USJ incident was a short-term use wing protective cover.
With a press of a button a thick, relatively lightweight sheet of bulletproof material could come out and encase your wings to protect them. It would inhibit your flying and made it impossible to move your wings more than a few centimeters in any direction, but after almost getting them torn off, Hatsume wouldn't risk it happening twice.
"Oh, I almost forgot. I worked with Lunch Rush and Power Loader-sensei to create these!" She opened one of your utility pouches and pulled out a small black pellet. "These are like your calorie-bars you eat but smaller so that you can carry a hundred with you instead of a few at a time! Perfect for future long-term missions or if you get kidnapped or something heroic like that!"
You held the little crunchy ball to your eye, scouring over it. "I'm not going to die if I eat this right? You're good at a lot of things but making something edible is not one of them." Although you were joking slightly, you were still hesitant to put anything Hatsume has made anywhere near your mouth. Things have a tendency to explode around her. Unperturbed by your insults, Hatsume just grinned brightly and cackled.
"I'm almost 100 percent sure it won't kill you! I ate one and although I had 5 times the calories I needed that day, I'm just fine. Plus Lunch Rush did most of the cooking part." With a shrug of your shoulders you popped the little ball into your mouth, instantly met with a minty freshness as it crunched between your teeth. "Yummy right? Tell me how amazing I am."
The pinkette spread her arms wide, eyes closed waiting for more praise. "You're the most amazing."
"I am aren't I."

While your class was sitting through an English lecture with Hizashi, Nezu and Aizawa pulled you out of class to discuss your plans for internships after you so kindly ditched for Mei. Normally students are allowed to choose who they intern with, and although you are granted the same freedom, many of your big decisions still have to be monitored, including choosing who to intern with.
Nezu was happily sitting in your lap, sipping tea and humming to himself as you ran your fingers through the fur on the top of his head. "Hmm. You've got some really good offers here: Hawks, Best Jeanist, and Gang Orca all requested for you to intern! Lucky for you, all three pass our screening as well as the police's in how to handle you, meaning you can choose whoever you want and they already know the rules! So, who is it going to be?"
Nezu smiled up at you, his beady eyes shining with amusement, even if you didn't know, he knows who you are going to intern with. It was the only logical choice.
"Well, Best Jeanist and Hawks are both in the top 10 but Gang Orca is kinda like me, a hero who people respect but view as a villain." Although it didn't show, Aizawa was shocked with your knowledge of the three heroes. You knew the names of al the major heroes in Japan but you never took interest in learning anything about them. Lucky for you Izuku never stopped blabbering about heroes and Mei talked about all the support items each hero was going to beg her for.
"Ao, be logical, who will be most beneficial to helping you grow your quirk and as a hero?" His dark eyes bore into yours, wordlessly commanding you to think things through for yourself. While waiting for your answer, Nezu handed Aizawa the Hawks form to sign.
"Our quirks are similar and I want to strengthen my wings now that they are healed, so I guess I should choose Hawks."
"It will be difficult. Paparazzi and fans will follow you everywhere, you'll never walk the streets without being bombarded by obnoxious people." Aizawa sighed deeply, like even the thought of that much publicity was giving him a migrane. God forbid he ever became a popular hero. "Hawks isn't like me, he's a very popular young man and the spotlight seems to always find him."
Aizawa wasn't trying to make you second guess yourself, he was trying to warn you, and he was pushing you to think deeper. To prove that you were ready. He knew you could handle it and wanted you to say it out loud so that you believed in yourself too. Saying it out loud would make it so that you would be forced to hold yourself accountable.
"That's fine I...I can handle it. The press is already on my case, how much worse can it get...right?" Your eyes narrowed in determination, you were going to do this.
"Perfect!" Nezu clapped his paws together. "Sign here and here and you'll be ready for your internship with Hawks!" You scrawled your signature where need be and gave the paper back to your dad. "Ohh your classmate Tokoyami also got an offer from Hawks, perhaps you'll intern together and can become dynamic-birdie duo!"
"Yeah, maybe we will!" You really hoped Tokoyami would intern with you, having a familiar face, especially one who you have a sort-of friendship with, would be nice. Plus then you could steal some more tips on how to keep your feathers so shiny and healthy.
*^*^*
"Why can't I intern with you, Sho?" You queried as the two of you walked to the training grounds so you could engage in your physical therapy to strengthen the lost muscle of your wings.
Aizawa pat the top of your head, ruffling your hair slightly. "You need to experience hero-work without my guidance. You cannot grow if you only use my teachings. Besides, I will be working with another student who needs my expertise."
"Oh, who?" You knew Aizawa loved all of his students; however, personally helping them outside of school hours was shocking to say the least. Whomever this student was, Aizawa definitely has to see something special in them to take time out of his busy schedule and help them. You weren't jealous, not at all.
"Hitoshi Shinsou." You felt your blood run cold, instantly being reminded of Mina's glassy eyes and the overwhelming potential of his quirk. Your reaction didn't go unnoticed, Aizawa could see the way you tensed up in fear. That was going to have to change for sure.
"T-the boy from the sports festival? Are you sure he's..." Aizawa stopped you with a raise of his palm. He moved to be in front of you and bent over to be eye level.
"I know you are afraid but Shinsou is not your father. He may have a similar quirk but that does not make him bad. He is trying to become a pro-hero just like you. If people can accept that you are not evil then you should extend him the same courtesy and not judge him based on his quirk."
Aizawa was right, you knew it. You couldn't make eye contact with him; you were so ashamed. Sure his quirk was terrifying to you and the reactions people had under it were scary, but it could be a good quirk for a hero. He wasn't your father, he wasn't. He was probably just trying his best. Who were you to judge somebody based off of something as menial as a quirk.
"I...You're right. I'm sorry." You bowed deeply in apology, feeling like a complete asshole.
"I'm not the one you should be saying that to." Aizawa pushed open the training ground doors and sitting there waiting was the one and only bedhead himself, Hitoshi Shinsou.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Thank you for reading, more to come! Finally we get to meet hawks baby my favorite character!
