A promise of a beatdown

"Goodbye [Name]-san please take it easy. I'll see you when you come back after school and then I can show you my surprise!" Sachiko wrapped her hands around yours and gave you a soft, loving smile. She looked over your wrappings one more time to make sure everything was in place and you wouldn't be in too much pain throughout the day.

"I'll see you later Sachiko-chan, thank you for healing me." You returned her bight smile with a sweet one of your own. You were not a big fan of the hospital but you were excited to come back after school to see the surprise she has prepared for you.

School was finally back in session from the cancelation and you were finally discharged from the hospital so you could leave and make it on time. You expected Aizawa or Midnight to be the one to take you to school but when you made your way to the waiting area of the hospital, you were pulled into a bone crushing hug.

"My little cyborg, don't ever scare me like that again. You and Shouta-kun are too hardcore sometimes, I thought I lost you for a minute, totally uncool." You felt him lift you effortlessly into his arms and he spun around before walking out of the sliding doors. He never set you down and though it was funny, you felt as though him carrying you was completely unnecessary.

"I can walk just fine." You deadpanned, trying to quell the amused smile that threatened to break through.

"I don't care." He put his forehead to the top of yours softly before smiling brightly, letting out a loud yell and skipping the rest of the way to the car. You felt free and wondered if this was what you were missing out as when you were a child.

He eased you into the car and you had to position yourself so your back wasn't rubbing up against the seat too painfully. He checked the dashboard and noticed the early time, making him shout in glee. You were going to arrive at school super early at this pace so he pulled into the parking lot of a little drive through bakery.

"We're early so being the totally rad Uncle-Zashi that I am, we're getting FOOOOD!" He smiled brightly at you, his golden hair sticking straight up and you felt at ease, not noticing the sorrowed look behind the smile. You really worried him, you and his best friend of many years were so hardcore. He thought he had lost the both of you and it made his usually cheery and carefree demeanor take a hit, it would take a bit for him to un-see your bodies so bloodied up and you attached to all those machines at the hospital. Especially since he felt like he did absolutely nothing, like a shitty friend.

When you arrived at school Hizashi held you tightly to him and pressed a kiss to the crown of your head. You hugged him back just as tight, the fear of losing the ones you cared for made you accept physical affection more, in fact you liked it a lot. It made you fee safe, it helped you feel that they were still there with you, the warmth of a body against yours was calming, it helped soothe the unknown racing of fear that had burned in your chest since you encountered villains at USJ. You let go finally when there was 5 minutes before you had class. Hizashi turned around before he entered the teacher's lounge and called out to you.

"Oh yeah and little cyborg...if I hear about you being alone with any more boys...I'll let Shouta-kun ground you forever." He winked and threw up a rock out sign before slipping into the lounge before his first class. You spun on your heal, shaking your head lightly in amusement on your way to the classroom among the bustle of other students. You opened the door to classroom 1-A and greeted your friends, Izuku and you were now on talking basis and he was excited to see you back at school, though he kept fidgeting nervously as he said good morning. Mina was also super pumped and got the rest of the class to get hyped up and excited that you were and all right, most were too hesitant to look at your back because it was wrapped in layers of gauze and reminded them of the most horrific sounds of your screams and the way you killed those people.

When you finally got out of the conversation, you headed to the person you had been planning on talking to since you got to school. He was staring ahead, an angry yet far away gleam in his eyes as he zoned completely out. You moved easily through the desks until you were standing right in the boy's line of vision. You watched in interest as his cold, heterochromatic eyes flickered out of his stupor and met yours with annoyance and confusion heavily on his blank expression face.

"Uh, hi." You spoke up, unsure of how to start a conversation with the antisocial boy.

"What?" He blinked languidly, his monotonous voice unwavering as he waited for you to explain why exactly you were talking to him when he didn't want or need any of your attention. To Todoroki, you were just another useless person in the scheme of things. You could feel the chilly and hostile atmosphere rolling off of the boy in waves and though you wanted to know why this loner boy seemed so hell bent on isolating himself from everyone, you decided to keep it short and sweet.

"Clearly you don't want to talk to me but I wanted to say thank you. Kirishima told me you were the one to heat my body so thanks." You gave a short wave and went over to sit on Hagakure's desk as you chatted with her, Mina, and Uraraka while waiting for the rest of the class to show up. Though his expression was unchanging, that was not the response he was expecting. Usually girls would fawn over his form and thank him in a high pitched annoying voice at how he was their hero or amazing for his quirks or whatever but you did none of the sort. It honestly seemed like you couldn't care less about him after your gratitude. His dual eyes looked over to where you sat and watched as you were crushed into a hug by the newly arrived Kaminari. You just seemed like another waste of a student, just someone looking to make friends and not truly be a hero. How disappointing, even with a past like yours you were nothing different from the rest, the only thing that stood out was your skill set, something that definitely needed to be watched, he couldn't be shown up or his bastard father would never let him hear the end of it.

Iida had shuffled everyone to their desks and you watched amused as the stiff boy was freaking out about the class about to start and how everyone needed to be seated while he was the only one still standing. You rested your cheek in your palm as your eye

fluttered closed. Your pain killers made you tired so you were practically ready to pass out when the door was opened and the class gasped. At the sound you raised your head just enough to lazily open your eyes half mast and saw Aizawa shuffling in on unsteady legs, this time even his eyes were covered in bandages probably to protect them from any further strain. You giggled yet again at how goofy he looked.

"Woah you're back already Aizawa-sensei! That's so hardcore." The students chattered animatedly, praising Aizawa and making sure he was ok to be back at school when he looked like he was hit with a train.

"Wow, Aizawa-sensei you're so manly." You knew Kirishima was awed by his teacher and for him, he saw that same strength in you.

"Your concern is flattering but I am fine; Recovery Girl went overboard with healing me. Now settle down." The chattering died down and you found yourself zoning out once more as you were falling into sleep. Aizawa saw your sleeping form and picked up chalk off the board. You woke up rubbing the center of your head where he pelted you with the hard chalk. "As I was saying...The UA sports festival is fast approaching. You are not only competing against other students, you are competing in one of the biggest events in all of Japan so bring your A-game."

"Aizawa-sensei, isn't it unsafe to do so right after a villain attack like at USJ." Yaoyorozu questioned the teacher, the mood in the classroom still apprehensive after remembering the last big 'event' you all got to experience. You remembered watching the sports festival for the first time two years ago, it was an impressive show of quirks and brains. This would be fun and you hoped you'd be able to compete even if injured, it's not for a few weeks though and hopefully with more recovery and help from Sachiko you'd be in top condition to kick ass in the festival.

"On the contrary, this is to send the villains a message that U.A.'s crisis management is strong and the students are stronger." For those who didn't know what the sports festival, Aizawa explained it and you zoned out, listening more to the excited chatter between students about how getting noticed in the festival can help become a sidekick and future Pro-hero. "Show the pro's what kind of hero you want to be, make a name for yourself here." You felt the room settle and there was determined look plastered on each of your classmates faces. Everyone was pumped and ready to go. When the morning classes were over, you waited outside the door for Kaminari, he was getting hyped up with Jiro, Sero, Mina, and Kirishima. You would have stayed, but you wanted to stand up and stretch before you fell asleep in class. The door opened and Bakugou stormed out, his hands shoved deeply into his pockets like usual.

"What the fuck are you doing wings?" He greeted, not raising his voice but he was speaking aggressively while glaring down at you.

"Waiting for Kamniari so we can go get lunch." You were confused on why he needed to know and even more so why he sounded more annoyed than usual. Bakugou wrapped his fingers around your forearm and started dragging you through of the hallway to a more empty location. You just rolled with it until he stopped and peered down at you, his crimson eyes burning with passion. He looked over your bandages, scowling.

"Are you going to compete?" There was an urgency in his tone as he furrowed his brows waiting for an answer. Normally Bakugou would back a person into a wall to intimidate them or get answers he wanted faster but he chose against that, slamming your injured back against the wall while it was injured would be asshole behavior, even to his comically low standards on asshole behavior.

"What- there is no way I wouldn't." You wanted to compete in the festival just like everybody else, it was your chance to define the type of hero you wanted to be, it was your way of finding your identity. This was your shot, hopefully you could find what would define you as a hero competing in this competition.

"Good. You better heal the fuck up before the festival cuz I ain't gonna fight some shitty excuse for a mummy. I want an undisputed win and I ain't gonna be satisfied until I beat you into the dirt too so you being half dead like a little shit ain't going to cut it."

"Tomorrow after school, I'm going to fuckin' take you up on that spar and kick your ass back into fighting condition. Got it wings?" it wasn't so much as a question, you thought it was more of a demand than anything else. Bakugou didn't see like the type to ask people to do things, he said something and people just did it. You didn't like being commanded around like that, but sparring with him seemed like fun either way so you shrugged and accepted.

"Sure but I'm confused if you don't want to fight me when I'm injured, why choose to fight me tomorrow?" He growled, flicking at your forehead like he was forcing your mind to work again. He was looking into your eyes and saw how bright they were, there was no anger or pity or awe, just curiosity. He decided that, that was better than the alternative looks he was given by everyone else around him. He also thought they were pretty in an odd kind of way, same way he liked that his eyes were red.

"Dumbass, use your ears. I'm going to kick your ass until you are back in fighting condition so we can go at it for real at the festival. I don't want you losing on the first round just because you're rusty." Bakugou was not into the idea of you losing before he had the chance to kick your ass in front of the world. He wanted to fight you for real, see the extent of his powers against people like you and the Icy Hot bastard but he couldn't do that if you were out before getting to fight him. So he decided that he needed to be the one to whip you into shape and get your weak body strong and healthy before the festival. He could see how your wings had the heaviest bandaging and from the chatter between Kirishima and Kaminari, your wings were in shitty shape. So he was going to make sure that even if your wings were still fucked, you would be ready with everything else to give him a good fight.

"Oh, so basically we're going to train together?" you brushed a strand of electric blue hair from your fave and smiled at Bakugou, amused at the way he huffed at you, his mouth curling up to bare his teeth at you in annoyance.

"Whatever, just bring spare clothes to school." Bakugou stalked off into the building, body hunched and yet he still seemed to stand taller than those around him if just by the size of his ego alone. You spun on your heel, heading back towards the direction of the lunchroom, the slight throb in your back was starting to become more painful and you had to get some food inside of you before taking another pill.

A/N: Another chapter done! Sorry this one is kinda short but I'm still struggling with inspiration and stuff to continue this story IDK, it's not going as well as I want it to but I'm going to keep writing for it until I'm enjoying this fandom again or decide to quit. I hope you like it, next chapter will be out soon!
