They grew up across the street from one another- from playing Jack's and marbles in Devin's living room to red-light green-light on a wintery day in front of Trechial's house. Whatever they did, they did right and wrong together- or fought unmercifully about it. So, who would have thought that pretend games of playing husband and wife would end up in Devin making a promise to Trechial's dying father at eight to marry her when they got older?

For Trechial, liking, dating and loving her best friend was never in her deck of UNO cards. As a matter of fact, fighting with him seemed to be the more plausible way they did things. But as they reached the inevitable teenage years, Devin Liao quickly became Trechial's favorite hook to a 90's R&B song. Afraid to cross the friendship line but unable able to contain her curiosity, Trechial begins to straddle the line hoping to not be consumed by Devin's charm and protective spirit.

As for Devin Liao, the promise he made started off as an obligation to the man he held high respect for, yet as the years went on, and childish feelings morphed into a terminal infatuation for Trechial, he realized it was a promise that he wanted to keep. Trechial Winters, the dark-skinned beauty from around the way was food to his Asian Soul, though she only saw him as just a friend.
