Chapter 42 - Dartplayer
Jo hums while getting dressed, excited to go back to work. Dart looks at her from the bed with a smile on his lips. Jo feels him looking at her and winks at him. She feeds the cats and puts on some make-up. She checks herself in the mirror and smiles. Skinny jeans, boots and a sleeveless top are her favorite work combo. She walks back into the bedroom, her phone beeps and she checks the message. "It's from Maria. She wants me to come over to the cafe early."
Jo crawls onto the bed to kiss Dart goodbye. He wraps his arms around her and holds her tight. His voice is laced with sleep, when he says: "Hmm, don't go. I need more kisses."
Jo smiles and kisses him again, wriggling free from his arms. She gets up and yells all excited: "Bye handsome! See you later!" She blows him a kiss and skips out of the door.
When she reaches the cafe, she sees that Jake is busy on the terrace, putting the chairs and tables in place. She walks up to him and hugs him. "Good morning, big brother."
Jake hugs her back and says: "Morning, pretty sister. Maria is waiting for you in the kitchen." Jo enters the kitchen and sees the table is covered in pictures.
Maria smiles at her and says: "Good morning, Jo. Come and look at this." Jo looks at all the pictures and smiles wider with every picture she picks up.
"Maria, they are all awesome!"
Maria says: "I know! I was hoping I could talk some things through with you."
Jo sits down and says: "Okay. Tell me what you need from me."
Jake walks in with two mugs of coffee and the women say in unison: "I love you."
Jake laughs and says: "I know what makes my girls happy." He walks back out into the cafe and Maria sits down at the table across from Jo.
"Jo. I am thinking about starting a webshop. But I need some help with the exposure. So I was hoping you would say yes to me using these pictures on social media and in the printed press. It's just... I can't pay you a lot of money for it."
Jo gets up and speaks up: "Stop! I would never accept money for it Maria." She walks over to Maria and hugs her lovingly. "I would love to help you out with it all, free of charge. Well... Some nice clothes are always welcome." Maria gets all teary-eyed and hugs Jo tight.
"Oh Jo. Thank you." They both sit down again and sip from their coffee. Maria says: "I will keep you posted on what gets used where. I'm so happy you want to help me." Maria smiles and calls for Jake.
Jake comes in immediately and says: "Can I give her my gift now?" Jo looks at him in surprise and he hands her a gift. Jo unwraps it and pulls out a black, sleeveless shirt, with a print on it. Jo reads it: Born to be a dart player and bursts out in laughter.
"That is awesome Jake! I love it! Putting it on right now." Jo takes off her own top and puts the new one on. She hugs Jake tight and he chuckles.
"I knew you would love this one. I had so much fun just buying it."
Jo does a spin and says: "My favorite shirt from now on."
Maria hands her an envelope and says: "I have a gift for you too. But you might want to open it when you're alone. It's the pictures of you in the white bikini." Jo blushes when she thinks about the effect that bikini had on Dart and what it lead to.
Jake chuckles and says: "Ooh, I bet you put it on for Dart yesterday."
Jo turns to him and says: "Shut up Jake. Dart already pointed out how obvious it was that I wasn't sleeping. Next time, I'll pretend I'm not there."
They laugh together and Jake says: "I'll get you another coffee and you can talk some more business, it's quiet in the cafe anyway." Maria and Jo come up with a few ideas for the webshop, like having a different style for sale every week. Jo will be wearing the style at work and will post selfies of the look on social media. Maria will use the pictures she took to promote it. They are both getting very excited about it all. Jake opens the door and peeks in. "Jo there are some fans of you here. Do you have time to talk to them?"
Jo gets up and walks into the cafe: "Good morning people." She sees Dylan and Kane sitting at the bar and a lot of regulars at the tables. She hugs the two guys at the bar and says: "Good to see you two. How have you been?"
Dylan says: "I've been good. I heard about a new personal trainer at the gym here, so I am here to check him out. And if it works out, you will see a lot more of me."
Kane says: "Yeah, I was thinking the same thing."
Jo smiles and says: "Then I hope it works out. I wouldn't mind seeing you more often." Jake hands her a pot of coffee and a thermos with tea and Jo walks over to the regulars at the tables. She smiles at them all and takes time to talk to them and signs their magazines. It feels like they are all family, proud and supportive of her. Jake relaxes behind the bar and smiles as Jo walks back over to him.
He says: "It already feels better in here."
Jo looks at him and asks: "What do you mean?"
Jake says: "I missed you, that's all. And so have the guests. It's good to have you back." Jo walks around the bar and hugs him tight.
"I really, really missed working here. It's the best job in the world."
Kane says: "Jo turn around and show me your shirt. I've tried to read it, but you move too much." Jo turns around and pulls the fabric, so Kane can read it better. Kane and Dylan laugh and say: "Awesome."
Jake looks all proud and says: "I saw it in a store and just had to buy it for her." The guys talk about Dart and Jo, while Jo runs off to serve the guests their food with a smile. She shows people to a table and takes a selfie with some teenagers, who came in to see her. When she walks back towards the bar, she finds five men looking at her with a smile. Shaun is standing next to Jake, behind the bar and cleans glasses. Dylan and Kane are turned around in their stools and Dart stands next to them. He is watching her with his signature smile on his lips. Jo walks up to him and shows off her new shirt. He chuckles and pulls her close.
"You better believe it. And you've become quite the experienced player." He kisses her happily.
Jo kisses him back and says: "Oh, I know." She winks at him and grabs the coffee and tea again to make another round. Dart looks at her, totally in her element, smiling at all the guests and leaving them happier than they were before she paid attention to them.
Shaun says: "She's like the sun, shining down on everyone." He covers his mouth and blushes a deep red, the second he realizes he said that out loud. The other guys turn to him and stare at him for a second, but then quickly agree with him.
Jake smiles and says: "Yeah. She sure is something. I'm proud of her. She has changed a lot, since the first day I saw her. But she always had a kind, caring heart, even when she was in a really bad place." Shaun looks a bit confused and Jake says: "Yeah, you might hear about it some day. Forget I said that."
Kane looks confused too, but Dylan whispers: "Some guy hurt her."
Dart quickly turns his head to him and says: "How do you know that?"
Dylan says: "I could see it in her eyes. I sadly know exactly what that looks like. You don't know about my volunteer work, do you?" Everyone turns to look at him and he says: "I work for an organization that helps battered women. Apparently looking the way I do, while being kind and understanding helps. I got into it when my cousin went through a horrible situation that almost killed her." All of the men go silent and get lost in their thoughts.
Jo heard Dylan tell them about his volunteer work. She sets the dirty plates she was holding down on a nearby table and walks over to him. She takes his face in both of her hands and kisses him on his forehead. She smiles at him and says: "Thank you." She turns around, grabs the dishes and walks into the kitchen. She puts the dishes in the sink and breathes out slowly, while leaning on the counter.
Dart comes in and wraps his arms around her from behind, hugging her warmly. Dart whispers: "My love, I'm so proud of you." Jo turns around and snuggles up to him.
She speaks softly: "I had to thank him, but I couldn't come up with the right words to say. Like I told Shaun the other day, we desperately need men like that. Those rare men need to know how much they are appreciated."
Dart holds her tight and says: "I know love. You did exactly what he needed. The women he works with are way too broken to thank him. But you just gave all the thanks he could ever need."
Jo kisses him softly and says: "These arms always manage to make me feel better."
Dart snuggles up to her and kisses her forehead. "These arms are yours forever. I wish I could stay longer, but I have to start Dylan and Kane on the fitness regime I came up with for them." They kiss one more time and then walk into the bar holding hands. Dylan smiles at her and she smiles back at him.
Jo lets go of Dart's hand and gets back to work, collecting dirty dishes and cleaning tables. Dart walks out with Dylan and Kane and winks at her. She waves at the men and then carries a tray full of dishes into the kitchen. Shaun is already rinsing plates, before putting them into the dishwasher.
Jo walks back into the cafe, where Jake is putting the tables and chairs back in their place. Jo helps him with the last things and wipes off the bar. Jake kisses her cheek and says: "Coffee?"
Jo smiles at him and says: "Yes please." Jake tells her to sit down in the kitchen and put her feet up for a bit. Jo does as he says and sighs softly when she lays her feet down on the chair next to her. Shaun puts the last plates in the dishwasher and starts it. He sits down across from her and Jake walks in with two coffee and a glass of orange juice. He hands Jo one of the coffee mugs and gives Shaun the orange juice.
Jo sips her coffee and then sees the envelope with the bikini pictures Maria took of her laying on the table. She pulls them out and looks at them, leaning back so Shaun can't see them. Jake sits down next to her and almost chokes on his coffee. "Holy fuck, Jo!"
Jo chuckles and says: "What? Maria didn't show you these? It's a bikini from her new beachwear collection."
Jake looks at them again and says: "It's a nice bikini. Not much fabric on it though. I get why she handed you those in an envelope now." Shaun leans forward and tries to look at it.
Jo looks at him and asks: "Are you sure you want to see these?" Jake shakes his head at him and Shaun looks confused. Jo lays the pictures down on the table face down and says: "I'll show you one I took with Nikki." Jo searches through the stack of pictures till she finds the one of Nikki in the swim-dress and her in the bikini. Jo is leaning on Nikki's shoulder and they both smile wide. It's not as extremely sexy as the ones in the envelope.
She slides it over to Shaun and he smiles at the picture. Jo puts the sexy ones back into the envelope and finishes her coffee. Shaun looks up at her and says: "You two look beautiful!"
Jo winks at him and says: "Make sure you tell Nikki that too."
Jo hears loud voices come from the cafe and walks back out there. A large group of young men has walked in, holding the glossy magazine Jo is in. They gather at the bar and Jo decides to keep the bar between herself and them. She says: "Good afternoon gentlemen. How may I help you?" It becomes dead silent in the cafe and Jake walks in, wondering what happened.
He smiles wide when he sees the group of guys and says: "Finally, you guys get lucky. She's here! After all those days, coming in to see her, when she wasn't here." The guys nod, still very flustered. Jo smiles at them, feeling a bit more confident now that she sees how nervous they all are.
"Want me to sign those magazines?" They all nod and Jo says: "You better order something then." Shaun walks in and stops for a second, looking at the guys that were full of talk when Jo wasn't here. They seem pretty quiet now. He smiles and takes their orders. He looks at Jo signing the pictures of herself in the magazine. She looks so hot in those pictures, that it makes him a bit nervous. He has a magazine at home, but doesn't dare to ask her to sign it.
He gets the orders ready with Jake and when they get back into the cafe, one of the guys asks Jo: "Are you good at playing darts, Jo?"
He points at her shirt and Jo laughs, saying: "I'm good at playing Dart, minus the s." She walks off to help an elderly couple to their table.
Jake leans on the bar and asks the guys: "You guys know who she is engaged to, right? If not, you should find out." They look at him all confused and Jake pulls out a newspaper from under the bar and folds it open to show them the picture of Jo and Dart on the beach. Dart is bare-chested, Jo is in his arms and they are kissing.
The guys stare at the picture and one of them says: "It's not just for the campaign?"
Shaun chuckles and says: "No man. That's Dart. You know him. He surfs too. He is marrying her." Jo takes orders and helps people to their tables, until there's a break in the stream of guests.
She walks over to Shaun and says: "Hey mister, want to help me with these orders?" Shaun smiles wide and follows her into the kitchen. They work together to get the orders ready and Jo is impressed by Shaun. "Wow Shaun, you're fast and precise. It's nice to work with you."
Shaun blushes slightly and says: "Thanks! Those guys in there are very impressed by you. They had such big mouths when you weren't here."
He looks down and Jo says: "They intimidate you a bit, right? But remember, girls don't care about talk. They need kindness, not idiots like that." Shaun smiles wide and they walk out together, serving the orders to the guests. When all the guests are served, Jo walks over to the group of guys and sits down at the bar next to them.
Jake says: "Shaun, grab a water with a slice of lemon for Jo, will you?" Jo nods at Jake and stretches out.
Shaun hands her the drink and Jo smiles at him: "Thank you, pretty boy." The guys next to her gasp and Jo ignores them. Shaun stands up taller behind the bar and Jake winks at Jo.
Jo drinks her water and closes her eyes for a few seconds. She hears something from the kitchen and Jake says: "Ronnell's here." Jo jumps from her stool and runs into the kitchen.
Ronnell turns around and opens his arms, yelling: "Joooooo. You're back!" Jo laughs and runs into his arms. He hugs her so tight, that it's hard to breathe. But she lets him have this moment.
"I missed you Ronnell. And your food." Ronnell lets go of her and smiles.
"Want some veggie soup?"
Jo nods her head happily and says: "Oh yes, I'd love some." Ronnell tells her to sit down and gets to work. Jo is enjoying her soup, when Shaun walks in. He fist-bumps Ronnell and sits down too. Ronnell places a bowl of soup in front of him with some freshly baked bread. Jo moans softly while eating her soup. She eats the last spoonful and looks up. She meets Shaun's eyes and catches him staring at her.
Jo mumbles: "Sorry. Ronnell's food has that effect on me."
Ronnell turns around to look at her from the stove and says with a smile: "Yeah, you have always appreciated my cooking."
Shaun smiles slightly and says: "Yeah, I love this soup."
Jake walks in and asks: "Jo? Are you done eating? By the way that group of guys left."
Jo gets up and says: "Yes boss. You go on and eat. I'll hold down the fort."
Jo walks behind the bar and sees three young women come in. She looks them over and sees they are skinny, pretty and not wearing much. They smile at her in a way that makes her feel uncomfortable. It feels like high school all over again. Jo puts on her nicest smile and asks: "What can I do for you, ladies?" They give her a look that gives her a cold chill, but Jo tries not to let it get to her.
They all order a glass of water and when Jo serves them their drinks, one of the girls asks: "Do you know how to get to the gym from here?"
Jo says: "Probably. It depends on which one you're looking for."
The girl leans forward and says in a sexy voice: "The one were Dart started working. We want to be trained by him personally." Jo plays with the charms on her necklace and looks down for a second, making sure they don't notice her change in attitude, when she hears Shaun come in behind her.
"Sure. I can show you how to get there."
One of the other girls asks: "I wonder if Dart ever comes here. Do you see him often? Does he come here for drinks and stuff?"
Jo says curtly: "I see him every day." She leaves it at that and starts cleaning some glasses. Shaun stays quiet and starts filling the sugar bowls on the tables.
The women stare at him and whisper: "He's pretty cute... A bit young maybe... Who cares... I bet he would enjoy a ride." Jo's eyes flicker with anger for a second, but she composes herself. Shaun walks back over to the bar to get some more sugar. One of the girls leans over the bar and says a bit hoarse: "Hey handsome. Would you like to have some fun with us sometime?"
Shaun looks at her and raises his eyebrow, before answering: "No. I'm not interested in women like you." He walks off, without giving them another look.
Jo bites her lip to hide her smile and asks them: "Do you want me to show you the way to the gym now?" The women pay and Jo walks out with them, pointing them in the right direction. Dylan and Kane walk up and they both kiss one of Jo's cheeks, before walking into the cafe, completely ignoring the women staring at them. Jo chuckles as she walks back in.
Shaun is looking at her with a smile and says: "Stupid bitches."
Jo high fives him and says: "I feel a lot better now. I felt like I was back in high school with those three."
Dylan and Kane look at Shaun and Dylan asks: "Stupid bitches?"
Shaun says: "Those girls you two just ignored outside."
They look confused and Kane asks: "Girls outside?"
Jo raises her eyebrows and says: "Yeah, the ones I was showing the way to the gym, when you two walked up and kissed my cheek."
Kane shrugs and Dylan says: "Well, we saw you. So we weren't paying attention to anyone else really."
Kane adds: "Girls like that don't really register with us anymore."
Shaun stares at them and asks: "Why not? I bet you see gorgeous women all the time. You're like movie stars."
Dylan laughs and says: "That's why, to be honest. You're still young, but women like that are really boring and superficial. And are usually mean to other women."
Shaun nods and says: "I get it. I was mean to them on purpose just now."
Jo laughs and kisses him on the cheek. "Thank you. For knowing I needed that." Shaun blushes a bright red and the other two guys whistle.
"Welcome to the club bro!"
Jo sees Nikki walk in and she walks up to her to give her a hug. Nikki smiles and says: "Finally, I get to work with you in here."
Jo smiles back and says: "Yes! I have been looking forward to it. And Maria brought pictures over this morning." Nikki looks a bit scared and they both walk up to the bar.
Dylan winks at Nikki and says: "Hey pretty girl. You're a sight for sore eyes." Nikki blushes and softly says hi to him. Jo blows him a kiss behind Nikki's back and the girls both walk into the kitchen.
Jake watches them come in and gets up to hug Nikki. "Hey sweetie, good to see you. If you want to look at the pictures, take your time. I'll get Shaun to stay a while longer." Jake smiles at them and walks into the bar. Jo sits down with Nikki and shows her the pictures. Jo keeps pointing out how beautiful they look together and Nikki starts to smile more with every picture they look at. The last ones are of them in beachwear. Maria walks in, while the girls look at those pictures.
Nikki says: "You know what Jo? If you are not afraid to be seen in that bikini, then I'm not afraid either." Maria walks up to them and hugs them both at the same time.
"I love you girls. You make my job so much easier. Everyone will be wanting those clothes."
Jo smiles and says: "Maybe Nikki can help us with promoting the webshop? She can wear the items on sale here too and take selfies for social media. Would you be willing to do that Nikki?" Maria explains the plan to Nikki and the girl gets all excited too. Maria hugs them both again, before the girls walk into the cafe, ready to work.
Jo looks at the corner of the cafe and sees a lot of tables grouped together into one big one and she recognizes some of the rough-looking guys as friends of Jake. One of them sees her walk in and calls her over. She walks over to them and says: "You called, sir?"
He smiles at her and says: "Guys! This is the girl that broke that idiots nose. You know, the one we sent back to The Netherlands." All the guys cheer and slam on the table. Jo takes a bow and flexes her biceps with a smile.
One of the guys asks: "What are you drinking, little fighter?"
Jo points at her apron and says: "Right now? Anything without alcohol. I'm working."
Jake gets up from the table and says: "She's right guys. We can't both sit down here with you."
They turn their heads to Jake with a grin and say: "Bye Jake!" Jo laughs out loud and shakes her head, before walking away to take orders from the other customers.
The place is packed and Jo starts to feel a headache coming on. It's not the work itself, but everyone seems to be a fan of hers, in one way or another. And they all want an autograph, a picture or just a few words. She and Nikki are working their asses off to get every single order filled. Even Maria jumps in to help out. Jo drinks a glass of water in one go, once all the food is served and walks into the kitchen to unpack the dishwasher.
Ronnell is sitting down for a drink, now that the rush is over. Jo puts away the clean dishes and puts the first few dirty ones back in. Ronnell says: "It's nice to have you back Jo. Things feel more relaxed when you are here."
Jo smiles at Ronnell and says: "Thank you. It feels good from my end too. Just starting to get tired of my fans."
Ronnel laughs and says: "Yeah, it's been super busy, just because they want to see you. And the news that you're back is traveling fast."
Jo says: "It's a very strange feeling, but I'll get through it. It can't last forever." She kisses Ronnell on the cheek and walks back out. She walks past the tables to see if everyone is happy and clears the tables of the guests that are done with their meal. Nikki keeps up pretty well and Jo winks at her in passing. She looks over at the table with Jake's friends and Jake gives her a thumbs up. Jo salutes and continues to work hard.
The final dinner guests leave and Nikki clears the tables, while Jo tidies everything up and wipes them clean. They are starting to become a pretty good team. Jo walks into the kitchen and helps Nikki with the dishes. Once that's done, they walk behind the bar together. Jo cleans glasses and Nikki cleans the surfaces. They high five each other when everything is clean and ready for another round. Nikki hugs Jo, before she goes home to eat and do her homework.
Jo leans back behind the bar and watches the group of guys in the corner. They get louder by the minute, but Jake seems to be enjoying himself. Maria comes in and stands next to her. "Those guys kind of scare me. Especially when they drink."
Jo looks at Maria and says: "They are just loud. But they have a good heart. Jake wouldn't be friends with them if they didn't." Maria looks at Jo all surprised that she is not scared of them. Jake gets up and walks up to the bar and asks Jo for a bottle of Whiskey and shot glasses.
He goes over to Maria to give her a kiss and says: "If they make you uncomfortable, feel free to stay away. I understand."
Jo says: "I'll bring it over Jake, it's quiet for now anyway." Maria looks at the group nervously and Jo hugs her. Jo fiddles with her phone, plays her favorite heavy metal tracks, fills a tray with shot glasses and grabs the bottle of whiskey. Jo confidently walks over to the group of men and says: "Make room guys!" She puts the tray on the table and fills the shot glasses fast and without spilling a drop. The guys all grab one and down it. Jo smiles and refills their glasses, walking around the table. She puts the bottle in front of Jake and walks off towards the bar, singing along to the music.
Maria has gone and Shaun is sitting at the bar, smiling at her. "Hey Shaun, what will it be?" Shaun orders Dutch Delights and Jo smiles wide. "Awesome. I might steal a snack or two from you."
Shaun says: "Go ahead, I don't mind." Jo walks into the kitchen to fry the bitterballen and cut up the cheese. She takes the bitterballen out of the fryer and grabs a Grolsch beer from the fridge. She puts the cheese and bitterballen on a plate and adds a tiny plate of mustard to it. She brings it out with a smile and Shaun takes a sip from his beer. A few more young men sit down at the bar and all order Dutch Delights too. Jo is a bit stunned, but serves them all happily.
She leans back and looks the boys over, as she sings along to the music playing. Shaun stares at her mouth and says: "You know the lyrics?"
Jo chuckles and says: "Yes, I do. It's my playlist after all." He blinks at her and the other guys stare. Jo asks: "What?"
Shaun says: "Awesome." He invites her to eat a bitterbal and Jo does happily.
She asks: "What kind of music do you like, Shaun?"
He answers: "Grunge mostly. But anything rocky will do."
Jo turns around, picks up her phone and says: "In that case we need my other playlist." She hits play and a huge smile appears on Shaun's face.
Jake's table calls her over and Jo dances over there. Jake says a bit drunk: "Have a drink with us, Jo."
Jo says: "I am still working you know. And I doubt you're in the right state to work any more."
The other guys say: "Come on, one drink can't hurt anyone."
Jo sighs and says: "All right, give me a shot." Jake pours her a shot and one of the guys tries to pull her unto his lap. Jo grabs his fingers and squeezes hard. She looks him dead in the eye and whispers viciously: "Hands off mister. I'll break your nose in a heartbeat." She lets go of his hand and sees he turned pale. She gets up and says, without looking at any of them: "I don't feel like a drink anymore. And since you have Jake to help you, I will not be coming over here again tonight."
She sees Dart walk into the cafe from the corner of her eye, but makes a beeline for the kitchen to cool off. Ronnell has already gone home and Maria probably went upstairs. She kicks the bin in the kitchen and then takes a deep breath. Shaun is just done whispering something in Dart's ear, when she walks back out again. Dart walks up to her and pulls her into a warm hug. He whispers: "Are you okay, love?"
Jo snuggles up to him and says: "A lot better now that you're here." Dart kisses her slowly and dips her slightly. Jo giggles and plays with his hair, while she nuzzles his neck. "Hmm, you smell clean and fresh. And now I feel icky."
Dart kisses her again and says: "I thought you would be done working by now."
Jo looks over at the rowdy group in the corner and says: "Technically I am. But Jake has been drinking with his buddies and is in no state to serve guests."
Shaun puts some money on the bar and says: "Come on guys, let's go. Jo deserves to go home. She's been here since this morning." The rest of the guys pay too and they walk out together. Jo smiles as she watches them walk out. She shoves her phone in her pocket and counts the money in the cash register. She grabs Dart's hand, walks over to the entrance and flips the sign to closed.
She looks over her shoulder and says: "Bye Guys!" She doesn't wait for an answer and walks out. Dart looks her over and sees the exhaustion on her face.
He crouches down in front of her and says: "Hop on gorgeous, I'll give you a ride home." Jo smiles weakly and climbs on his back. Dart races her home and helps her undress in the bathroom. He turns on the shower and gets undressed himself, before helping her wash her hair and body. He dries her off tenderly and asks: "Have you eaten anything yet, love?" Jo shakes her head and he carries her over to the bedroom, helping her into panties and one of his shirts.
He carries her to the living room and puts her down on the couch. "I'll be right back with something to eat." Jo sinks back into the couch and closes her eyes. Dart comes back fairly quickly with a grilled cheese sandwich. Jo eats a few bites, before holding it out to Dart.
She says a bit sleepy: "You didn't eat anything yet either. I know you." Dart winks at her and takes a few bites, before putting it away. Dart lays down on the couch and pulls her on top of him. Jo snuggles up and listens to his heart beating at a slow and steady pace. She says: "Tell me about your day handsome."
Dart plays with her hair and says: "I made Dylan and Kane sweat like crazy. They were really happy with it, so they are my first two clients. And then some bimbo's came over, but they kept making passes at me. I said that if they weren't serious, I didn't want to become their trainer. So they walked out eventually. Weird girls."
Jo chuckles softly and whispers: "I'll tell you about them tomorrow." Dart continues talking about his day, telling her he helped some people out with their training and helped with some chores around the gym. But then he realizes she fell asleep. He sits up, holding her close and gets up from the couch to carry her to bed. He lays her down and covers her up.
He sits on the edge of the bed and looks at her for a while, before going into the living room to eat the rest of the grilled cheese sandwich. He opens his laptop to read through his email and checks his social media. There's an email from the man who gave Jo the purple dress to wear to the 'Fight Like a Girl' launch party. The guy wants to thank Jo, because his clothes are selling like hotcakes. Dart smiles at the screen and sends him a short reply.
The next email he opens is from Pierre. It contains the wedding art he made and a surprise. Dart opens the picture and stares at his screen. Pierre made a new version of Dart's dream girl. It shows Jo in sexy lingerie, looking sweet and next to it is Jo in a black widow suit, with her hair wild, looking very fierce and strong. Dart picks up his phone and sends Pierre a message to thank him for the awesome art. Pierre is most likely sleeping right now, but at least he can't forget to thank him this way.
He checks the messages on his phone and sees one from Ivette, telling him she's in love again. He sends her a message back.
Congrats!
What does she look like this time?
She sends him a picture after a while and he smiles at it. It shows Ivette kissing a girl with short, red hair. She added a line of text to the picture: Redheads do it better.
Dart chuckles and replies.
I know!
Hang onto this one!
His phone beeps and he sees it's a message from Pierre.
Sending you the images solo too.
Glad you like them!
Dart checks his email and stares at the fierce Jo, while he thinks of something. He grins at the screen and orders a couple of fitness shirts with the art printed on it. And orders a large canvas with both the sweet and the fierce Jo on it. He tells Pierre about it in a text and asks him if he shouldn't be sleeping.
I'm trying the finish a cartoon.
So not sleeping until it's done.
Dart decides to not bother Pierre any longer and gets up to walk over to the bedroom. He sits down at the edge of the bed and watches Jo sleep with the cats around her. He thinks about what Shaun told him and wonders how Jake will be feeling tomorrow. He seemed really out of character tonight. According to Shaun, Jo handled herself very well. He lays down next to her and strokes her cheek. He whispers: "I love you Jo" and falls asleep staring at her.
