Susanna's POV

I carefully eased in the front door of Second Chance Bookstore, smiling once more at the name. It really was the place of second chances, and I don't just mean for used books. People too.

I took in the decorations of the store and was amazed at how amazing it looked. "Isn't this wonderful?" My roommate, Madison Frost, soon to be married to her boyfriend Max Holden, spoke as she came up beside me.

"The theme is perfect. I think you got the perfect person for this event, Madi." I said taking in the gathering crowd from the age of birth to the kids at heart.

"I'm just so happy he agreed." Madison wiped her eyes, and I have my friend a quick hug.

I opened my mouth to say something else, but Max took "center stage" and welcomed everyone, "Welcome to the Second Chance Bookstore." His eyes lighted on Madison, and love just flowed between them. "As you all know, we have joined forces with the local library and are going to offer a few programs here at the store. The theme for this year is pretty great. 'Every hero has a story'. And just remember you don't have to wear a cape to be a hero. So please, welcome a great man that has served our country well. Who always ask everyone to call him... Uncle Jake."

The crowd applauded as we welcomed my first friend in Nashville, all of us eager to hear his story.
