Chapter 3
The trio of Gohan, Goku, and Y/n walked along the scenic path leading to Y/n's village. The sun dipped low in the sky, casting a warm glow over the landscape. As they strolled, Goku and Gohan took the opportunity to learn more about their new friend.
Goku, ever the curious soul, turned to Y/n with a grin. "So, Y/n, what got you into martial arts and training? It's not every day you find someone with such impressive skills."
Y/n chuckled, reminiscing about her past growing up in the village that raised her. "Well, it all started when I heard stories about powerful warriors, like yourself, climbing Korin's Tower. I wanted to test my limits and become stronger. Training became a way to achieve that."
Gohan, intrigued by Y/n's answer, chimed in, "That's so cool! What kind of challenges did you face along the way?"
Y/n's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Oh, there were some tough moments. Most of the time it was just fighting away thieves and bandits that tried to rob our village. We also had a near run-in with Cell, but luckily he got distracted before he caused any real damage. Korin's tests were no joke; he basically had me chase him to get normal water. And then Mr. Popo's training pushed me to my limits. He can be very aggressive if you don't listen to him. But the real challenge is what lies ahead. I want to be strong enough to protect my village and friends."
As they neared the village, Goku had another question. "What kind of food does your village have, Y/n? I'm a big fan of all kinds of dishes, myself."
Y/n chuckled. "We have a good mix of fruits and veggies. Some meat but nothing fancy. It keeps me happy and energized for training."
Gohan, curious about their new friend, wanted to know more. "Besides training, do you have any hobbies or things you enjoy doing in your free time?"
Y/n nodded. "I enjoy reading and spending time with my friends in the village. It's nice to have a balance. What about you guys? Do you have any favorite pastimes?"
Goku rubbed the back of his head with a grin. "Well, besides training, I love fishing, of course! There's nothing like catching your own food for a good meal after a tough workout. And, I guess you could say I enjoy exploring new places. There's always something or someone exciting to discover."
Gohan nodded in agreement, "I love exploring too! It's fascinating to learn about different cultures and see the diverse landscapes our world has to offer. And, like Y/n, I enjoy reading too. There's something magical about getting lost in a good book, but lately, I've been getting back into school books."
Y/n smiled, finding their shared interests heartening. "It's great to know we all appreciate a good adventure and some quiet time."
As they continued their conversation, the village gradually came into view. Y/n's friends working in the gardens noticed her approaching, and excitement rippled through the air.
One lady yelled as she rushed towards them, "Y/n's back! It's been too long!"
A younger boy followed, running to catch up, "How was your journey? Tell us everything!"
A huge smile made its way onto Y/n's face as she greeted both with a hug. "Mary! Benny! It's great to see you both again! I've missed you both. Was there any trouble while I was away?"
Mary smiled and gave her a nuggie, causing Y/n to squirm in her arms. "Just you being gone. Now tell us who these fine gentlemen are?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
Y/n introduced her friends to Goku and Gohan, and the atmosphere became lively as stories were exchanged.
After a brief catch-up, they strolled through the village towards a marketplace. The scent of fresh produce and the lively chatter of vendors filled the air. Goku's eyes lit up at the sight of a food stall, and he couldn't resist sampling some of the local delicacies.
"These skewers are amazing, Y/n!" Goku exclaimed between bites.
Y/n laughed. "Told you! It's the special sauce they use. Adds that extra kick."
Gohan, picking up some vegetables, asked, "You guys have a lot of different stuff here. Do you farm it in the village?"
Y/n nodded with enthusiasm, "We do! All of our food comes from the village. My father actually has a cow farm where we get our milk, and butter."
After their bags were filled with local treats, they started to make their way to Y/n's hut. On the journey, they ran into Upa, who immediately recognized Goku.
"Goku! Is that you? I can't believe you're here!" Upa greeted, his eyes lighting up with joy.
Goku grinned, a flood of memories rushing back. "Upa! How've you been?"
Upa smiled as he thought, "Great! Thanks to you, my dad is still alive, and the village is thriving. I've been training too with my friend Y/n! What brings you here?" he asked, not noticing Y/n standing behind Gohan and Goku. She took this as the queue to make herself known, stepping to the side into Upa's field of view.
"Oh! Y/n! How did you guys meet? Did you meet them on your journey up Korin's tower?!" Upa spoke with excitement.
"Haha yes, Upa. I didn't meet him right away, though. It was after I got to Korin's, and then he let me use the power pole to go up to the lookout, and that's where I met him after training with others."
Gohan's eyes crinkled in confusion as he still didn't know who this guy was and couldn't remember ever meeting an Upa; he was slightly confused.
Goku's eyes lit up with realization. "Sorry! Gohan, this is Upa. We go way back. We had some tough times together, but in the end, we managed to bring his dad back to life."
Upa's eyes gleamed with appreciation as he remembered their adventure together. They continued to talk a bit before Upa wondered why Y/n was back earlier than expected. "So Y/n, are you done with your training, or did you just miss me?" he asked, making a joke.
Y/n laughed. "I always miss you, Upa, but I wanted to get a good meal and check on some people." Y/n checked the watch she had on her wrist. "It's only past 4; you don't have to help your father until 6. Want to join us?"
However, the joyous moment was interrupted by Goku's sudden realization of how much time had passed since he left. He scratched his head sheepishly. "Oh no, I lost track of time. Gohan, we better head back."
Gohan nodded in understanding. "Right, Dad. Y/n, thanks for the hospitality. We'll have to visit again soon."
"You guys are welcome anytime! I'll either be here or on the lookout!" Y/n waved with Upa as they flew off.
As Goku and Gohan made their way home, the happy reunion and the warm atmosphere of the village lingered in their minds. Little did they know that a storm awaited them at home, as an impatient and irate Chi-Chi was waiting to unleash her frustration on Goku for his delayed return.
