Pity
I heard an alarm and groaned. "Off!" I growled at the noise.
I was so comfortable and warm. I was curled up with a soft body full of hard muscles. Mmm. Where am I? This was not my cell. It wasn't this comfortable.
"It's time to get up and learn to fight vampires. If you're going to fight with us?" That voice. That buttery, sweet, smooth honey of a voice that soothed my soul. I love him. Peridot.
"Peri?" I groaned.
"Yes, get up, Viper. Up!" He shoved me.
I just realized I was laying on him. I snuggled closer and kissed his chest before I could stop it. I freaked out and hopped out of bed. "Sorry!"
Peri blushed and stood. "Ready?"
"Yes! I'm ready! Let's go...out of here!" I looked at the bed, Peri then the door. I rushed to it and down the hall. I had no idea where we were going. I just woke up and didn't know where I was or what I was supposed to be doing. I had to turn around. "Where?"
Peri was at his door laughing his ass off. "Practice room. After you eat." I let him lead the way. It usually takes me a good five minutes to wake up when I'm sleeping. I'm always very groggy at first. I wasn't sure if that was a regular thing or a vampire thing.
I drank my veggie blood as Peri, Dr. Comet and Citron ate their breakfast. I was quiet as they chatted away. I knew this wasn't breakfast but it was for me...and Peri.
Citron was going to get punched. "So, Peri, where have you been today?"
"No where. Why?" Peri blushed and looked at his plate.
Citron smiled like he just found a new toy. "Just curious. How did the talk go?"
Peri nodded, took a bite of some meat. "Fine."
I finished my food and threw my bag in the recycle bin. It could be reused. Cool.
Citron wasn't done though. "I went to check on Viper..."
"We did." Dr. Comet pitched in.
"Right, we did." Citron agreed. "And what did we find?"
I looked down and Peri blushed. I could feel the heat from where I was sitting. Peri shrugged.
Dr. Comet chuckled. "Not going down easy, huh?"
Citron chuckled. "The cell was empty and open. We were worried. Guess what we found? Just guess!"
Dr Comet smiled. "We were going to do a hunt for Viper, just in case...whatever. We started with getting you out of bed."
Citron smiled. "We did. We opened your door and found something very interesting!"
Dr. Comet chuckled. "Very."
Citron laughed. "Care to share, Peri?"
Peri blushed. "We have training to get to. Excuse us!" He pulled me with him out of the cafeteria. This was my first time eating with them and it was exciting...until the third degree.
Peri frowned as we reached the practice room.
I sensed he was unhappy. "I'm sorry that they found us together. You were just being nice to me. Are you okay?"
Peri sighed. "No, Viper, I'm not okay. Can we do this some other time?"
I knew in my heart that this wouldn't happen. Neither the workout or being with Peri in general. "Sure."
I walked to my cell and closed myself in. My mind and my day was filled with Peri. I couldn't focus on anything and I missed him a ton. I laid on my bench and cried again, like a fool. I was a fool.
It was some time later when the cell door opened and someone sat beside my head. "Peri will come around. Don't let his idiocy ruin things, Viper. Okay?"
Citron was here to comfort me.
I nodded. "I shouldn't have fallen asleep!"
"How in the hell did you end up in his room.. In bed with him?" Citron was entertained. I knew he smiled.
I sat up and sighed. "Well, he explained things to me and I cried because I cry. It's what I do." Citron nodded in agreement. "And he picked me up and carried me to his room. I didn't know it was his room until I woke up. I fell asleep before I felt him release me onto the mattress and I woke up cuddled against him..."
I groaned and covered my face that was red. "What do I do now!"
Citron chuckled. "Peri is very sensible and he knew you were hurt. Hell, he volunteered to talk with you."
I looked up at Citron. "He said you guys drew straws?"
"Liar!" Citron was very amused. "He asked who was telling you and we were about to discuss it but he took the phone and marched out the door!"
I stared in disbelief. "He volunteered?"
Citron nodded. "He did. Just wait for him to figure his shit out, Viper. He was very broken and I believe that you are helping to heal some of his wounds and he's freaked out."
I nodded. "I understand scars, Citron. I doubt I can help him but I will... how do I wait?"
"Just hang out and wait for him to approach you. When he is ready, he will come to you. Just be patient. He needs some of your patience, Viper. You're good for him." Citron sighed. "He was pretty messed up about what happened to his family... he needs time to adjust."
I nodded. I had time. "I live in a jail cell, I'm not going anywhere, Citron."
Citron agreed. "How about a match?"
We played chess. I forgot to add that detail earlier. Citron added a small table and two wooden chairs in my cell so that we can play chess in my area. He liked hanging out with me until Dr Comet came for him. I was pretty sure they ate meals together. I knew they were close.
