My Poor Beginning

It was pitch black and I couldn't move. I started to panic as I felt the wall give way and I fell to the floor. I was guessing it was the floor. I just laid there breathless and confused... Probably more so than anyone reading this story.

I didn't feel anything at first. Not cold or hot or wet or anything. No pain either. A fall to the concrete should have hurt but it didn't.

I opened my eyes as they adjusted, faster than I thought possible. I could see perfectly. I was comfortable with the lighting although I could tell that it was almost pitch black in here. This room had some countertops and old computers that no longer worked. No one had been in this room in a lot of years, if I had to guess. This room and the building I was in were abandoned a long time ago. Why was I in this room? How did I get here?

"Don't fucking move." Someone spoke forcibly.

I jumped a little because I thought I was alone. My body hadn't adjusted to the shock yet and my mind was busy trying to figure out what was happening. Suddenly, the lights were on and blindingly bright. I could tell that I was surrounded by people that were unhappy.

I didn't move because whoever said that meant it. It was the only thing I was sure of at this moment. I didn't even know who I was or where I was so I was going to listen to that voice.

"Up." He commanded. I heard a gun being cocked. It's not a good noise when it's pointed at you. Trust me.

I slowly stood up as I was being restrained by handcuffs. "If you move in any way that is not as we instruct, you will be electrocuted. Clear." That voice was smooth and commanding again. This person was very no nonsense. He meant what he said all the time.

I nodded. I looked around as we left the building into the night and realized that they were some kind of military. There were five of them but more were at the vehicle and around the perimeter of the building and surrounding area. We were being guarded.

The one commanding, he was in charge, was shorter than me and strong. His blonde hair was shaved and he had a hint of a beard. I was listening to him because I didn't even know who I was and they had weapons.

I was handcuffed already when we walked out of the building. As we reached the vehicle, I was blindfolded... Well, it was a black bag that was fitted over my head.

I was completely blind and not at all comfortable. You'll have to forgive me for the lack of description because I was still in shock and had no idea what was happening. This next part is a little jumbled.

I had no idea where we were going but we walked for a while and I was seated inside a vehicle of some kind. It wasn't the vehicle that I saw parked by the building because we walked farther and this was an enclosed vehicle. The other vehicle had no doors or top.

I don't know how long the drive was and I was disoriented. I was trying to figure out what was going on and how I was the enemy. I didn't even know who I was and I had a load of questions. My main one right now was how was I the bad guy? They were all glaring at me or afraid of me. I could sense fear in some of the soldiers. But the five that I first met weren't afraid. One was curious and the others were angry.

I was dragged from the vehicle as it stopped. No one said a word and I wasn't about to try. They seemed mad at me so I was staying quiet. Someone pushed my shoulder with the tip of a rifle and I walked.

I was moved through a force field, I guess. I felt the energy it was putting off. I was marched into a huge building and I could tell because there was an echo as we walked.

The head cover was removed as we stopped walking. If I knew what was going on, I would have gotten details. I didn't pay attention to anything other than breathing at this point. I was sure my life was over.

A woman met with us. "This him?" She was memorable with long dark hair and bright green eyes. That was all I remembered about her but that was more than anyone else so far in my life. I knew her and the commander.

"Yes, Ma'am. This is the last one. I figured we could get information from him." The commander stated. He was the one in charge with the shaved head. I guess I wasn't getting a say in this.

So, this woman was the person that the commander answered to. She directed them. Okay. I wondered if this was her house or just a meeting place. I noticed that the floor was pretty. It wasn't over the top but it was some kind of decorated stone. I don't remember seeing anything like it before.

A gun was pointed at my head by a tall pretty man who looked very angry. "I say we kill it now!" He primed his weapon as it whined like it was ready to shoot me.

Great. I flinched away from him. He took my thoughts about the floor.

"I said don't fucking move!" The commander was behind me.

I was confused now. "I'm...sorry!" I inhaled. I was about to die. I cleared my throat that was dry. My voice sounded rough and I didn't recognize it. It was strange to me.

I heard a gasp. "He can talk!" Another man stated, in shock.

Why couldn't I talk? What happened to me? Why were they all afraid? I could sense the fear in all of them except the commander and the one pointing his weapon at me. He was angry at me. I wonder what I did to him?

"Get him to a cell." The woman stated. She was in charge of everyone from what I gathered. I was marched down three flights of stairs and walked into the cell.

"I'm taking these cuffs off. Move.." The commander started.

"And he shoots me, got it. Sir." I finished his sentence.

The commander actually chuckled. "Right. Be right back." He walked out with the angry one and I was left alone.

I sat. It was so bright in here that I couldn't open my eyes. I laid on the hard bench and covered my face with my arm. I didn't sleep. I didn't feel tired. I spent the time trying to remember who I was and what happened. I tried but my mind was blank.

All I knew was when I woke up, it was like someone shook me or I jolted up from a nightmare and I landed on the floor. I knew there were people in this building and there were many floors to it. There was a large water mass outside the building. It could be a lake or an ocean, I couldn't tell.

This building was large and had housing on the lower floors. I was on a upper floor where the rooms were bigger. I didn't know what they held but they were where large groups gathered. For what, I had no idea.

My cell that they locked me in, it was down a hallway and on a corner. It had one door. There were soldiers guarding me. It was a large cell through with a nice wooden bench to lay on. It wasn't terrible comfortable but I could sleep here so it wasn't uncomfortable.

This would probably be my home until someone killed me. It would probably be that beautiful angry person that I caught a glimpse of. I loved his scent. It reminded me of something happy... but it was stuck in my mind and I couldn't see it. It was just a fleeting feeling that I couldn't hold on to. His scent had this way of easing my worry and I loved it.

The commander had a scent also but it was different from Angry. It was friendly somehow. Even though he wasn't directly friendly to me, I got a friendly vibe from his scent.

The leader with the dark hair and pretty green eyes had a scent also. It was more spicy, like a hot pepper. I couldn't hang on it either and I didn't know how I knew what a hot pepper was but not who I was?
