Dr. Comet was in his usual office working with microscopes as we walked in. "How's it going in here, Comet?" Peri sat as he spoke.

Dr. Comet had his face in a microscope. "Fine, Peri, how was your day?"

"Good. I think." Peri sighed as I stood in the room taking up space.

"So, how's it going with Viper? Have you guys talked yet?" Dr. Comet asked as he adjusted his microscope.

"Now isn't the time for that, Comet. Really." Peri looked embarrassed.

"Better sooner than later! Someone will snatch Viper up and you will lose your chance with him. You better just tell him you're in love with him. Don't be stupid!" Dr. Comet was upset as he stood and turned pale.

I couldn't help it. I just started laughing at his expression. I was already guessing that Peri and I loved each other so I wasn't surprised. I was thrilled.

Peri glared. "Thanks. Now I have no leverage!"

I smiled. "I'll pretend that I don't know, Peri. You can pretend that I don't love you too."

Peri blushed as he smiled at me. He just nodded in his usual nonchalant fashion. I knew he cared.

Dr. Comet covered his mouth still trying to recover.

"It's okay, Comet. He knows." Peri was letting him off the hook. "He's been staying in my room so I figured it wasn't tough to guess."

"And I saved your life on that hunt!" I smiled at him.

Peri chuckled. "I could've done it without you."

I smiled. He couldn't have. They would have died but I let it go because it was our game. "Sure." We both knew better and so did Dr. Comet. "Hey, Doc, how's your leg?" I saw him limping still.

Dr. Comet smiled at me. "It's better. It's healing." He pulled his pant leg up so I could check out his wound. He knew I wouldn't stop until I saw it. It looked a lot better.

"Good. No swelling or redness." I touched it lightly. "Any pain?"

Dr. Comet shook his head. "None."

"Okay. Still, take it easy." I worried about my friends. "I worry." I shrugged. "I'll remove the stitches in the morning."

Dr. Comet smiled. "Thanks, Viper."

I saw Peri roll his eyes and I chuckled. "I worry about my people, Peri!"

Peri agreed. "And I worry about mine, Viper."

I was toast and Dr. Comet made gagging noises.
