Dr. Viper

Well, I was right. I didn't go on their missions with them. They were gone off and on and I was still in my cell. When Citron was there, we played chess and Dr. Comet experimented with me.

However, Peri ignored me like usual. I also knew he was working through things. Being friends with the enemy (me) was a lot for him.

My days moved along alone. Once in a while, I got to spend time in the lab. The lab people were getting used to me and that was nice.

This woman, Lucinda, would joke with me. I liked her and we were becoming friends. She was easy to talk with and had this spirit of joy.

"What brings you here today, Viper?" Lucinda smiled at me. She was a Faerie if I ever saw one. Tall, blonde hair, pretty crystal blue eyes and would swear that her cheeks had glitter on them all the time. She was always happy and always offered a smile.

"Bored. I figured I would help with those samples that Dr. Comet and I started... about me and sunlight?" I sat on the exam table.

Lucinda smiled. "Right. He just got back so..."

I nodded. I knew that because I could feel Peri again. I was startled when Dr. Comet limped in with Citron, who was carrying Peri, who was unconscious. I rushed over. "What happened?"

I felt my heartbeat speed up and my lungs were using more air. I was freaking out but I knew that Peri wasn't dead.

I had to calm down. Peri had a pulse that was steady and he had no internal bleeding. I would have smelled the extra blood. Peri was just knocked out.

"Calm down, Peri's fine. He's just knocked out. Those bastards surrounded us and he said he would die before they turned him into..." Citron stopped talking.

I nodded. "Right. I hope he wakes up soon." I started to leave. I figured they didn't want me around after fighting vampires all day.

"Viper, I could use your help." Dr. Comet stated and that stopped me. He sounded off. His voice was strained and I knew he was injured. I smelled blood, his blood.

"I was stabbed, could you..." Dr. Comet sat on the table I just hopped off of.

I rushed over. "Where?"

"Calm down, Viper. It's probably a flesh wound on my calf." He pointed at his leg.

I went to work. I cut his pants to examine his leg. It was not just a flesh wound, but I could fix it. I put on gloves and a mask to cut down on the blood smell and gave him a general anesthetic for the pain. I tried to be gentle as I worked.

Things I didn't know were that Peri was awake and watching with Citron. They didn't know I helped with surgeries. They did now.

Gem rushed in as I was closing the wound, oops. Guess this cat was out of the bag. "What's going on here?" Her hands were on her hips.

Citron smiled. "Dr. Comet was injured and it appears that Viper is sewing him up. Does that pretty much cover it?"

Peri nodded. "Pretty much."

I focused on the stitches, tied them off and covered the wound in antibacterial cream and covered it. I finished the tape and sighed. "Stay off it as long as you can. I know you won't." I sighed.

I removed the bloody things along with my mask and gloves. I turned and looked at Gem. "He's fine. He lost a lot of blood so give him a day..."

Gem glared. "You're not a doctor."

Citron spoke up. "But he was a nurse, Ma'am. Before."

I didn't know that. My eyes got big. "I was?"

I saw Peri smile. "Yes, Viper, you were."

I gasped. "Peri, are you okay!" I almost forgot that he was knocked out when they returned. I bent down, checking his eyes.

My hands were on his face as I looked for any brain damage before I really thought about it. Touching him was pure heaven and worrying about him was torture.

Peri blushed. "I'm fine." He didn't make me move though.

Gem sighed. "Okay?"

Dr. Comet chuckled. "Good as new, Ma'am."

Citron stood and walked to Dr. Comet. "You better be."

"I am. Sir." Dr. Comet smiled at Citron and they walked out together. Dr. Comet was limping but he leaned on Citron.

I didn't notice. I was still checking for damage but Peri was perfect. "Well, you seem perfect." I backed away and cleared my throat.

"Thanks, Doc." Peri smirked at me.

I looked at the floor and stood up. "Well, get some rest and I'm glad you're back. Safe." I turned and walked back to my cell. I curled up on my bench and sighed. I felt so lonely waiting for Peri and I still wasn't sure what Citron meant by that.

Someone cleared their throat. "Can I show you something?"

I slowly turned around. It was Peri. I knew that but I had to be sure I wasn't hallucinating. "Uh, sure?"

"Come on. But you have to walk." He smirked at me and that put me in the best mood. The last time we went somewhere, Peri carried me.

I knew that I would follow him anywhere, literally. Off a cliff, into a volcano, fire, plague of monsters, mobs of vampires. My pathetic-ness knew no end. Not for Peri.

He climbed three flights of stairs and walked through a hall that looked unused. A door opened and we were outside. It was gorgeous. It was an ocean or a really big lake. "This is where I come when I'm upset."

I smiled. "I see why." I sat on a bench that faced the water. "This is pretty."

"You know that I'm not one of them?" Peri asked me. Meaning he wasn't a Faerie or a Pixie. They were cousins.

"I sensed it. But...I don't know. No one ever said. It doesn't matter to me." Peri could be a whale for all I cared.

Peri sighed. "I'm a druid. My people lived peaceful lives. I lived among humans. I was their leader. I guided them...until vampires showed up, they killed everyone."

"I thought they stayed on their land?" I was confused. I know that some of the hunts were on other realms but most were in vampire realms.

"They do until they have to hunt. The ones that come are just a few. A hunting party but they wipe out towns and destroy everything." Peri sighed.

"I know!" I sighed. "So, what's a Druid?"

"We're witches." Peri smiled at my expression. "We don't really live together, we find a human town to make ours and protect our people and having people to protect keeps our magic strong. My job was to protect the village and I failed. I lost my people and my magic that day. I almost died. Citron found me."

I sighed. "I see. I don't think that's your fault, Peri. We're a disease." I hated vampires.

"They are but you're not." Peri stated. "So, just enjoy the view. Hope it helps."

I could swear he scooted closer. I placed my head on his shoulder and sighed. I don't know if I felt relief or love or friendship. It was beautiful though. I was relaxed and I felt that he was also. We sat in silence until it was too dark for Peri to see anymore.
