Sugawara (Haikyuu!! Birthday Special)
"Good work today, guys!" Dachi complimented as the volleyball team cleaned up the gym. The team split up and divided the work as they put away equipment. I leaned against the door, watching them clean. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Dachi and one other member talking to the coaches. Turning to see them clearly, I heard Hinta yell and spun right back around.
"Rei-senpai!" The orange-headed middle blocker yelled as he sprang towards me. I backed up a little so he wouldn't bump into me. Smiling, I ruffled his hair. "Hey Hinata, how's it goin?" Hinata opened his mouth to speak when one of the other volleyball players yelled at him.
"Hinata, you dumbass, come finish packing up!" Kageyama, a tall, black-haired first year called out. Hinta pouted and said bye to me before running up to Kageyama. "I wanted to say hi to Rei-senpai..." I heard him complain to Kageyama. Kageyama found me leaning against the door and waved a small hello. I smiled and waved back, someday I'll get a smile out of him. My eyes wandered the gym, looking for a certain someone.
"Looking for me?" a honey-like voice said across from me. I shifted and looked over my shoulder to see Suga, Vice Captian of Karasuno's volleyball team. His gray eyes met mine with a cheeky smile.
"Pfft, as if!" I joked. Suga chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the sides. My heart skipped a beat. "You 'bout done?" I asked, my seriousness returned. He nodded, swinging his gym bag across his shoulder.
"We're off," Suga yelled as we waved to the remaining players. Hinata and Kageyama waved back and we turned to leave the gym. We walked side by side in silence. It was comfortable and I liked it. As we passed stores and apartments and grew closer, a hand grasped mine. I looked down to see our hands entwined. He caught me looking, smiled, and tightened his grip. Squeezing back, I grinned as we walked.
"You seem really happy today," Suga commented.
"I'm always really happy when I get to spend time with you," I responded. Suga blushed a light pink.
"I'm sorry that I'm too busy for you, sometimes," Suga said with downcast eyes. I stopped. Suga looked over his shoulder, his hand still trying to pull me along, and came back to me. With my free hand, I pulled him closer.
"Nonsense. I get busy too, with my part-time job. Volleyball might take up a lot of time but it's something you love so I would never complain about it if it made you stop." Suga's eyes widen and his face relaxed into a sweet smile.
"You're right."
"Of course I am. I'm always right," I said as I tugged him after me. He giggled behind me. After crossing what seemed to be like the third street and not the tenth, my house appeared in our line of sight. My heart plummeted, I didn't want to leave Suga so soon. It had been a while since we had seen each other and he was going to be leaving soon for a volleyball camp. Though I knew he must've been exhausted, I felt my selfishness overpower my compassionate side. Instead of going to my house, I led him away. "Rei-chan?" Suga questioned as he followed me.
My feet took us to a park that held a small playground with a couple swings. We reached the swings, and I sat on one, looking up at Suga. Suga glanced away and murmured, "How can I say no to that face?" He sat in the other and started to sway gently back and forth.
"I'm sorry, Suga. I-"
"It's okay," Suga interrupted with a bright smile. My heart skipped a beat. He was such a sweet person. We swang together, talking with each other until the sun had gone down.
"Rei, we should head over, I'm sure your mom's worried," Suga said as he stopped his swing and waited for me. Nodding, I got off and we walked home together. The steps to my door appeared too quickly. Instead of leaving me at the gate like he usually does, he walked me up to the front door. We embraced and while still holding him, I gazed into his grey eyes. The moonlight made his silver hair shine and his eyes looked at me with such love that I couldn't take it.
"You know, we've been dating for awhile.." I trailed off. Suga nodded, confusion to where I was going written all over his face. "Yeah?"
I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck. Suga tensed for a second but caught on and leaned in. Slowly, our faces met and his lips softly kissed mine. I melted into him as I kissed back. It was tender and full of love. I pulled back slightly to see Suga's face. He wore the cutest little grin. I giggled. "Happy Birthday, Koushi."
(A/N) Sorry it's a little short but like at least Momma Suga got some love today :)
