NOCTIS sat there for a few minutes in silence as he thought about what you and Ignis had just told him. Never in a million years could he imagine that all of that would have gone down. Although, he had heard about the mission to Niflheim from his dad. And you had told him about your brother. But for there to be a connection between the two. And for this to lead to your parents disappearing during the training lesson. It seemed that now everything was starting to make sense to him. He had been wondering why Cor had a crystal with him. He didn't need to ask him anymore. He could almost guarantee that his dad had made him take one with him just in case.

Noctis dropped his eyes as he looked at the bed.

"Have they heard anything else about your parents?" He asked in a quiet voice.

You dropped your head and took a deep breath.

"No. We haven't heard anything." You quietly said. "But then again, I have been a bit distracted."

Noctis slightly smiled at you. "Yeah I suppose you would be with everything else that had happened tonight."

"Yeah." You said as you slightly smiled back at him. "I am surprised that you slept through me find Snowball though."

"Who?" Noctis asked as he tilted his head.

Just then a ball of white fur came walking up to everyone on the bed.

Meow

Noctis jumped at first. Then smiled with a slight laugh.

"Now that's a face that I haven't seen in a long time." He said as he reached out and placed his hand on Snowball.

She pushed up against his hand and almost instantly started purring. He smiled and started slowly petting her.

"But how?....." He asked as he gave you a look.

"We have no idea." You said as you gave her a sad smile. "I just happen to see something white in the garden and went to investigate. After calling her, she came out of the bushes."

"Just like that?" He asked as he watched your expression as you stared quietly at your cat.

"Yeah." You said then took a shaky deep breath. "I freaked out though after holding her. She had blood covering her on one side."

"Blood?" Noctis asked as he stared at you.

You simply nodded as you kept your head down. "Your dad called for a vet to come check on her. Turns out it wasn't her blood. But the question still stands though, of whose blood was it?"

Ignis tighten his grip on you as he pulled you closer to him as he held you from behind.

"We should know by morning who the blood belonged to." Ignis quietly said as he slowly glanced back up at Noctis.

Noctis slow nodded and looked back down.

"So did my dad say how long you'll be staying with us?" Noctis asked as he looked back up at you.

"No." You said as you shook your head. "But I suppose that will all depend on what happens with my parents."

Noctis nodded.

"Well, I for one, am glad that you're staying here. I just wish that it was under better circumstances." He said as he smiled back up at you.

"Although, I won't have to worry about Ignis taking off to go see you now." He said with a mischievous grin.

"That was while I was helping her to get caught up with her classes." Ignis quickly said.

"Perhaps." Noctis said with a devilish grin. "But you did fly faster out of here to go see her then when I fell in the driveway while learning to ride my bike."

"That was different." Ignis interjected. "Your dad was with you as well."

You started chuckling at them as they were arguing like you and your brother use to do. "Are you sure your not related?"

They both stopped and looked at you. You then started laughing harder at their expressions. Then Noctis looked down and slightly laughed. Even Ignis smiled at the thought. After a few moments you calmed back down then leaned back against Ignis as you truly relaxed for the first time that evening.

Ignis tighten arm around you as you layed your head back against his chest. The warmth and comfort of being in his arms was like being wrapped up in a security blanket. You could feel your eyelids automatically closing on you as if you were falling into a dream. You quickly sat back up and fought with opening back up your eyes. You hadn't realized how tired you were until that moment.

"Perhaps it would be best if we continued this discussion in the morning." Ignis said as he watched you struggle to stay awake.

"I agree." Nocti said with a smile as he watched you fighting to keeping your eyes open.

"Come on." Ignis said in your ear as your eyes closed yet again on you. "Let's get you to bed."

"Hmmm." You hummed as you fought to open up your eyes.

"I'mmm .....sorry." You slurred as you tried to get up.

"I think we should call it a night." You drozely said.

Both Ignis and Noctis slightly laughed as they knew that they had just discussed that.

"That sounds like a good idea." Noctis said as he joked back at you. Then his lifted your hand to his lips and kissed the top.

"Good night princess." Noctis said then released your hand.

You sleepily smiled back at him. Then you leaned over and gave him a kiss on his check.

"Good night prince." You said then stood up.

"Good night Noctis." Ignis said as he stood up as well.

"Night Iggy." Noctis returned. "Keep her safe."

Ignis nodded back at Noctis.

"Of course." He said with a smile.

Then he turned on his heel as he followed you to the door.

Snowball walked up Noctis and nudged his hand that was on his lap.

Meow

Noctis smiled back down at her and started petting her. He was able to pet her for a few times before she looked over and saw that you were walking out the door. She then jumped down to the floor and walked over to follow you. Noctis simply smiled at the cat.

It all started with that cat. Noctis thought to himself as he watched her walk out the door with you and Ignis.

He smiled at the thought. To him it seemed like a lifetime ago now. But in reality, it had only been a little over two years ago. Noctis took a deep breath as he looked at his desk then at the garden that he could see through his balcony windows. Noctis stared out the window for a few minutes. Then he dropped his head as he scooted back down in his bed so that he could try and get some sleep himself.

Once you and Ignis got back to your room, you both started to get ready for bed. You helped him pull out the bed from the sleeper sofa and make the bed with a clean set of sheets and comforter that he pulled out of the wardrobe that was off to the side of the bed. You were even able to find his a couple of pillows that had been tucked into the top shelf of the wardrobe. Once that was done, he pulled out his bag and set it on the fresh made bed. You watched as he pulled out a phone charger and a small black book with a pencil attached and set them on the coffee table. Then he pulled out what looked to be two sets of pajamas. You gave him a questioning look. He looked over at you and smiled as he turned around with them and walked over to you with them in his hand.

"I had hoped to get these from your house for you." Ignis started as he looked down at them for a moment.

"But I'm afraid that we can't go near the house for the time being. So I hope that these are the right size for you. I had grabbed these really quick from the store but I wasn't certain of you size." Ignis said as he handed them to you.

You reached out and grabbed them from them. The fabric felt as soft as a cloud and the print was really pretty. You looked at the tag and slightly dropped your jaw when you saw that he had gotten you the right size. You looked back up at him with your mouth still open. You couldn't believe that he had gotten you not only the right size, but also some of your favorite kind of japamas.

"Did I get the size wrong?" He asked when you just stared at him.

You slowly shook your head. "No." You quietly said in shock. "How did you know what kind I like?"

"I just looked for something that looked like the ones that you wore at the hospital." He nervously said as he rubbed the back of his neck.

He didn't want to tell you that he had that night shirt permanently locked in his memory after he had to help you put it on.

You dropped your gaze as you slightly blushed.

"Thank you." You quietly said as you gripped the clothes tighter in your hands.

"Go on. Go change. Let's see how they fit." Ignis said with a slight smile.

You looked back up at him with excitement in your eyes as you smiled and nodded to him. Then you went into the bathroom to change. Ignis followed you with his eyes as you entered the bathroom and closed the door behind you. He was glad to see you excited again.

He never knew how much he had missed seeing that excitement in your eyes. He dropped his head as he remembered first seeing that twinkle in your eyes when you had first meet. The look of your eyes as you asked him if he wanted to play as you tilted your head at him.

He smiled at the thought, then dropped his eyes as he pulled out his pajamas pants and shirt. He usually only wore these when he had a roommate. He prefered to sleep in only his boxer briefs. But that wouldn't really work for tonight. He smiled to himself then proceed to change before you came out. First the belt, then the pants. Once he had those off, he sighed as he adjusted himself so that he wasn't scrunched up anymore. That had been driving him crazy for a while now, but he didn't want to do that in front of you. Then he pulled on his pajama bottoms and folded up his pants and placed his belt on them. Then he removed his socks and placed them on top of the pile of clothes. Then he reached under both arms and gathered up the cloth that made up his shirt sleeves and pulled the shirt over his head.

Right as he was pulling his shirt off, you opened up the door to the bathroom. You stopped in your tracks as you became transfixed by his motions as he pulled his shirt over his head. You breath caught as you stared at his slim waist and sexy six-pack. Only to be thrown further over when he pulled his shirt off and dropped his arms and you could see his well defined chest. This wasn't the first time you had seen his without a shirt on. After all you were both of the swim team now. But this was almost like seeing something in a dream. He wasn't overly muscular like Gladio, no he was just right.

Ignis froze after he glanced over and saw that you were standing in the bathroom doorway. Then he shyly smiled, then looked down and grab his shirt so that he could finish getting dressed. He fumbled a bit with getting his arms in the sleeves. But then he smoothly pulled the shirt over his head and down to his waist. Then he folded up his discarded shirt and placed it with the rest of his clothes.

You nervously looked down when you realized that you had been staring at him the whole time. Then you walked over to the canopy bed with your folded clothes in your hands.

How does he do that to me every time? You thought as you quietly walked over to the bed. It's almost like he puts me under a spell or something.

I'm glad I did my pants first. Ignis thought to himself as he placed his clothes back in his bag. Otherwise that would have been a bit more embarrassing, not that that wasn't.

You placed your clothes on the bedside table then looked around. You knew that you had brought a bag with you today.

Shit! Did my bag end up in the car that I was in? You deeply signed and dropped your head and shoulders as you pictured your bag burning up in the truck of the car after it exploded.

Ignis looked over at you and saw you just staring at your clothes.

"Is something wrong?" He asked as he set his toothpaste and toothbrush on the bed.

"My bag was in that car wasn't it?" You quietly asked as you kept your head down.

Ignis slightly smiled as he walked over to the end of the canopy bed.

"No, it wasn't." He said as he stood at the end of the bed. "You rode in Nyx's car, remember? We had loaded up everything into the other two cars. The servants had brought up your bag when they unloaded everything after we arrived."

You slowly turned and looked at Ignis as he gestured to a bag that was sitting on the bench at the foot of the canopy bed. Tears started coming to your eyes again as you recalled everyone loading up the cars. You dropped your head and walked over to him. He watched you as you walked over. But instead of you grabbing your bag, you reached your arms up and around his neck. You tighten your grip on him as you felt the horror of the car ride going through you again.

Ignis was stunned at first. But then he slowly slid his arms around your waist and pulled you closer to him. Then he stood quietly and held you as the tears poured and your body shook. He slightly dropped his head against yours and he tried to comfort you.

He couldn't imagine what you were thinking when the Magitek trooper had landed on the car. All he had been able to do was watch in horror from the next car as Cor floored their car to get past the attack and to a safe point. Monica had followed in the next car and did the same thing. Then once Cor had the cars a safe distance away, he directed Monica to stay with the cars while he and the others went back to help out.

Ignis tightened up his grip on you as he stood there just holding you. He tightly closed his eyes as he could once again feel himself flying out of the car and racing towards the commotion. Then he heard the sound of clashing steel and shouts from the glaives as they attacked the Magitek troops. He had ran up with Gladio and Cor to a sight that was something out of a movie. Pelna was fighting with a soldier who had a axe in his hand while Axis was dodge another only to be attacked from behind as he took it out. Nyx could be seen off in the distance, closer to the metal walkway as he was taking down two other soldiers.

That had been when Ignis noticed you on top of the hill, before you turned to run from a soldier. Then suddenly you were on top of the walkway. He had stared in surprise as he walked closer to walkway as you examined the blue mist coming off your body. Then you had turned and looked at him

"Ignis! Look out!" You had shouted as you tried to get him to turn around.

He then had immediately looked around and saw the soldier approaching him. Then suddenly there had been a swoosh sound, followed by an arrow that seemed to appear out of nowhere in the eye socket of the robot.

Kink!

He had frozen in place, as he stared at the deeply penetrated arrow in the head of the robot. This caused the robot to throw its head back from the force which made it stumbled backwards. Then he jumped again as another arrow struck right in the throat area.

Kink!

Those two arrows done the trick. Since the robot jerked around before coming to a complete stop before it fell over in a heap.

As he stood there in shock, he heard another one behind him. Which had made him quickly turned around as it approached. He quickly threw one his dagger right at the face and it penetrated the presumed skull. Then he flew forward and sliced it through the neck components with his other dagger, which took it out of commission. Then he turned back around and headed towards Gladio who had just taken one out with one swift slice through the middle.

"Gladio." Ignis had called over to him. "We have to get to her."

"I don't see how." Gladio said as he looked up at you. "We can't warp."

Ignis had then looked back up at you and saw that Nyx was with you. But then he had to turn his attention back to his surroundings as two more soldiers approached him and Gladio. That time Ignis had done a leg sweep to the soldier as he sliced his dagger across the neck of the soldier and sliced through the components as it fall to the ground.

"(Y/n)!" Ignis had heard Gladio shout.

Ignis had quickly turned back around and watched Gladio slice another soldier through the middle and look back at you.

"Get out of there!" Gladio had shouted back at you.

Ignis remembered standing there in terror as he watched you standing by yourself as you nervously glance around. Then he watched as the soldiers gathered up under you. Then his heart skipped as he watched them thrust their axes into the walkway ceiling. But the only thing left was a blue silhouette of you from where you had just warped from. His whole body had frozen for a second as he heart seemed to stop. Then he had quickly glanced around and saw Pelna and Axis directing everyone back to the cars.

And as everyone heading back to the cars, that was when Ignis saw you on the hill beside Nyx. He had quickly changed directions and headed straight for you. Only for you to turn around and aim an arrow right at him. He jolted to a stop and put his hands up. He could see the fear in your eyes as you aimed at him.

He felt his heart drop once again as he remembered the terror that he saw in your eyes as you looked at him. He dropped his head down into your soft hair as he squeezed you tight. He silently prayed that he would never see that fear again. He would give anything in the world to never have you in danger again.

Once you had calmed back down you slowly released him.

"I'm sorry." You said as you started wiping your tears away.

"I really should let you get ready for bed." You said then tried to turn towards your bag.

But Ignis caught your chin in his hand.

"You have nothing to apologize for." Ignis said as he looked in your eyes with compassion.

"There aren't very many people who can say that they have survived what you have tonight." He said as he brushed his thumbs across your cheeks as he wiped away the last of your tears. "If anything, we should be the ones apologizing for putting into that situation. If we would have known that there was a threat against you and your family, we wouldn't have been at that house. We would have been here instead."

You smiled back up at Ignis. "We both know that no one saw that coming. Besides, if it hadn't been for going to the house, we wouldn't have been able to learn the skills that saved us tonight."

Ignis took a deep raspy breath then kissed you on the forehead. "Come on, let's get you into bed. I think that we have had enough excitement for the night."

You simply nodded then walked back over to the bed and climbed in. Ignis pulled the sheets and comforter up to your chin as you snuggled down under the covers. Then he ran his fingers through your hair as he moved your hair behind your ears. His gentle touch sent a tingling sensation through your body.

"I'll just be in the bathroom for a few minutes. But you feel free to fall asleep. Ok?" Ignis quietly said.

"Alright." You quietly said then closed your eyes.

Ignis turned to walk over to the couch and grab his things when he saw Snowball curled up at the bottom of your bed.

"Keep an eye on her will you." Ignis joking said to the cat.

Then he smiled and walked over to his bed to grab his toothbrush and toothpaste then headed into the bathroom and closed the door.

You don't remember hearing the door close to the bathroom. In fact you don't even remember hearing him come back out of the bathroom at all. Sleep must have taken over the minute that he walked away from your bed. For the next thing that you knew, you were bolting straight up in bed as you were jolted out of a dead sleep. You were breathing heavy and you were shaking as you tried to get the image of those machines out of your head. You could still smell the fire and hear the screams as the robots flailed in the walkway.

You quickly looked around only to realize that the room was dark and quiet. The only noise that you heard was the soft snoring of Ignis as he slept on the sofa bed. You brought your knees up to your chest as you tried to calm down. You looked down at your feet as you remembered the nightmare you just had, where magitek troops barging into the room. They had turned to Ignis and had shot him, then they turned to you and charged as they had at the walkway. You had shot up at that point. You could still feel your body shaking from the dream.

As you sat there shaking, you knew what would calm you down. You just hoped that he wouldn't mind. For what you needed, was to be in his arms if you were going to calm down again. So you pull the bed covers off of yourself and dropped your feet to the cold marble floor. Then you slowly made your way over to the sofa bed. Snowball lifted up her head.

Meow.  She called to you as you walked away.

"I'm sorry Snowball. But I can't sleep like that. Not tonight anyway." You said as you stood beside a sleeping Ignis.

You looked down at him and saw that he still had on his glasses and his black book was on his chest. You figured that he must have fallen asleep while writing in his book. You smiled as you admired the gentle look on his face as he slept.Even asleep he was handsome.

You smiled to yourself as you carefully took off his glasses and set them on the table.  You pasud for a moment as you admired his face as he slept peacefully.  Then you grabbed his book and pencil and set them beside his glasses. Then you slowly lifted up the sheet and comforter so that you could slip in beside him.

You carefully sat down on the bed.  Then you turned and slid your legs under the covers as you moved your body further onto the bed.  Then you pulled the covers back over you as you curled up beside him so that you were facing him. You could feel the heat from his body as he slept silently beside you. 

You smiled to yourself as you closed your eyes. Your body was already calming down just laying next to him. You sighed then snuggled closer as you felt the sleepiness taking over again.  You were almost asleep when Ignis shifted to his side on the bed. 

The next thing you knew, there was an arm being wrapped over you as you laid there. Then you felt your hair being moved behind your ear which caused you to open your eyes again. You were greeted by a beautiful sight of his dark emerald eyes as they looked right at you.

"Everything ok?" He asked as he searched your eyes.

"I'm sorry. But I can't get them out of my head." You said as you became lost in his eyes. "Can I sleep with you tonight?" You asked as pleaded with your eyes.

Ignis heart immediately started racing. He wasn't going to lie and say that he hadn't longed to hear those words coming from you. But not this early and not in this context. He looked at your eyes as they showed him a hint of the fear that he had seen earlier that night. 

He knew then that there was nothing sexual in your intent. Even though his body was trying to react as such. This could prove to be problematic for him if he didn't keep himself in line. But he couldn't turn you away after seeing that fear in your eyes again.

You could see him struggling with himself as he contemplated your question. 

"You don't have to touch me if you want to. I just wanted to feel you close to me is all." You said as you watched his eyes darken and his breathing get heavier.

He took slow breaths as he calmed himself back down so that he could focus on protecting you and not on the other. 

"It's fine." He said in a deep voice as he kissed your forehead.

You smiled then snuggled up closer to him as you wrapped your hands in front of yourself. Ignis smiled back then wrapped his arm around you and layed his head back down as he tried to keep his body in check. The room once again fell silent as you both fell into a deep sleep in each others arms.

The next morning you woke up to the sun shining in through the windows from the balcony. You rolled over to try and get the light out of your eyes. But it seemed that no matter which way you rolled, the light just stayed on your eyes. But how could that be? Your bed was against the back wall. You sleepily thought. But then you took in a deep breath and caught the scent of a certain fabric softener that you knew all too well. The smell jolted you awake and you quickly sat up as you looked around the room.

The room that you were looking at wasn't your bedroom at your house on Hope Drive. You looked around and realized that the room was indeed the bedroom at the Citadel. Your heart sank as you realized that you hadn't been dreaming about the events that had taken place last night, like in some nightmare. No those events had indeed occurred. You had been attacked, the car had exploded and your parents were indeed missing. The reality of it hit you like a rock.

You quietly sat there quietly for a few minutes. You thought that you were going to cry again. But it seemed that you were out of tears now. That's when it dawned on you that someone was missing. You looked around and didn't see Ignis anywhere. But then as you looked around and saw that you clothes had been moved and were folded up neatly on the bench at the foot of the bed. You climbed out of bed and walked over to the clothes and saw that there was a note on them.

(Y/N),

I hope that you slept well. I apologize that I wasn't there to greet you in the morning. But I wanted to get in some practice before the diving coach shows up today. I hope that you don't mind. But not to worry, Gladio is outside of the room as you read this. Please don't rush to get up or anything. When you are hungry just let Gladio know and he will have the kitchen staff bring you up something to eat if your not in the mood for company.

I hope that you don't mind. But I had your clothes washed for you. I know that you don't have have that many changes of clothes with you right now and I just wanted to make sure that you could still have a choice on what to wear. We are hoping to be able to get to your house today so that we can get a few things for you out of it. I do regret to inform you though, that you will not be able to get these items yourself since we don't want them to catch sight of you. So if you could please make up a list of items that you need and we will be sure to get them for you.

I'll be back up once I'm finished with my practice. But if you need me, you know where to find me. And if you looking for Noctis , not to worry, he will more than likely still be in bed. And he will probably be there until noon. But don't worry, that is normal for him.

I have already asked the staff to get you a full set of toiletries and they should be in the bathroom waiting for you. If I have missed anything, or if there are certain products that you need, please let me know so that I can get them for you.

You smiled after you read the note. Ignis was truly aware of everything. You did silently wish that you had woken up with him next to you though. It might not have been as much of a shock. But then again, would it really have helped? You thought as you looked around.

You sat there for a few minutes as you tried to decide what you wanted to do. Well one main thing that you didn't want to do was spend all day in this room by yourself. So first things first. You needed a shower. So you walked into the bathroom and saw your exact bathroom products sitting on the sinks. 

It almost looked like they had grabbed them out of your house like that. (If it hadn't been for the fact that they were full.) You stared in shock for a few minutes as you tried to figure out how he knew. But you decided that you would ask him after your shower.

You went back out of the bathroom and grabbed your now clean clothes. Then you went back in and took a nice long, hot shower. You didn't realize how sore your muscles were until that hot water started hitting them as it messaged them. You stood there for a few minutes as you let the hot water just run down your back as it took the tension out of your sore back. The hot jets felt like little fingers as they messaged your sore muscles.

Once you were done you turned off the water and grabbed one of the white towels that were by the shower. You pressed the towel to you face as you dried off. You took a deep breath so that you could smell that familiar fabric softener that was always on Ignis' and Noctis' clothes. You smiled to yourself. This was one of the few scents that could calm you down and bring a smile to your face. You wrapped the towel around yourself and stood there for few minutes as you enjoyed the smell and the warmth of the towel. It was like getting a hug from Ignis or Noctis, which brought a smile to your face.

Once you released the towel you were ready to face the world again. And this began with you finishing your shower routine and getting yourself presentable again. Once you were done, you had everything put away in the bathroom and had even hung the towel up so that it could dry. You were finally starting to feel like yourself again.

Now this wouldn't be the type of bedtime stories that I would tell my children before they turn in for the night. But they would be pretty cool to tell around a campfire.
