YOU sat in the car with the three glaives in silence as you tried to figure out what they were talking about with your mom working for the Intelligence Department. There was no way. She always went to work in a skirt and heels. She had never worn the same clothes that they do. 

She couldn't possible work for both places, could she? You thought to yourself.

"(Y/n), can I ask you a very serious question?" Nyx asked from the driver seat.

You nervously glanced at him in the rearview mirror and nodded. He slightly smiled at you then took a deep breath. He quickly glanced back down again. Then he looked back up at you.

"Have you seen anyone hanging around your house that shouldn't be there? Like a strange car near your house or in your neighborhood?" He asked as he kept glancing from you to the road as he drove along.

"Not that I can remember." You said as you thought about it. "But I have been getting home late after doing the training at the Citadel.  So the street has been pretty dark by time I get home everyday."

"No unusual visitors?" Nyx asked.

"Well I had one, Gwen. But she just showed up to stir up problems." You said as you remembered Gwen stopping by. "But what does that have anything to do with this?"

"I had hoped that Cor was going to explain this before we left, but I guess it's up to us now to tell you." Nyx said with a bit of frustration.

You could tell that he wasn't to happy about having to be the one to break the news. This however did nothing to calm you down though. Since your heart immediately went into your throat as you waited anxiously for the bombshell to be dropped. 

Please, someone tell me that this is all a joke. You thought as you clutched your hands in your lap.

"We might have an easier time explaining it then he would anyway." Pelna said to Nyx. "We do know her parents better than he does."

You gave Pelna a questioning look as you felt your heart rate increase. 

You know my dad too?  But how?  You thought as you watched him. I've never seen you before in my life.

"If you say so." Nyx said as he continued to drive. "Well then by all means then Pelna. Why don't you start."

Pelna nodded then turned around in his seat so that he could see you better. He noticed that you were starting to freak out already. He smiled then took a breath as he tried to remain calm. He hadn't been very good at sharing bad news.  And he never expected to be the one to have to tell a family member that one of their own has gone missing.  Let alone two of them.

Pelna couldn't help but to slightly smile as he looked at you.  He could see your mom's eyes looking back at him as you stared at him.  He could even see your dad's strong jaw line along with your mom's high cheekbones.

"You look so much like your mom." Pelna said with a smile as he tried to calm you down. "But I can definitely see your dad in you as well."

"What the hell are you talking about?" Asked the greasy haired guy who was sitting next to you. "Just tell the girl already."

"I...."  Pelna started to say.

The greasy haired guy groaned as he shook his head. He then turned his head towards you. 

"Look." He began. 

"Your parents both work for the Intelligence department. Your mom is a part of the research division and your dad is a part of the investigation division. Now I don't know what bullshit story that they told you. But they have worked for us for years." He said as he if he was telling a story that he didn't like.

Axis Arra

You sat there in disbelief as you stared at him. There was no way in hell. They would have told you. Wouldn't they? You dropped your eyes as you stared at the floorboards.

"Damn it Axis. Can you be any harsher?" Pelan asked as he gave him a disgruntled look.

"Look she was going to find out either way." Axis said as he sat back.  "It doesn't make any sense to drag it out any longer then necessary."

"We'll have to talk about it later." Nyx said. 

"It looks like we have other matters to be concerned with at the moment." He said as he stared at the scene in front of car.

They all turned their attention to the commotion on the road ahead of them. It looked like there was a minor car accident right in front of the Longwythe rest area.  The two cars were blocking the road completely, and their way to Insomnia. It appeared as if someone hit the other as they were coming around the corner as they were trying to head towards Galdin Quay. This was ultimately blocking both roads and was forcing them to take the dirt road that ran along the other side of the rest stop.

"Shit." Nyx said as he slowed the car down as he turned down the dirt road. "Doesn't look like we have much of a choice in how we're getting back."

"Talk about bad timing." Said Axis as if annoyed. "How can you have an accident right there? I mean come on. It's not like there are that many cars on the road out here."

"Precisely." Pelna quietly said in a different tone as he started nervously looking around.

Nyx glanced at Pelna. 

"What is it?" He asked as he now started to nervously looking around as well.

"Don't you think that the timing of that was too perfect?" Pelna said as he undid his seatbelt as he watched the dirt mounds rise above the car on both sides.

"You're being way to paranoid man." Axis said as he just sat back and relaxed.

Just as he said that you saw that the car was passing under a walkway the lead from the dirt mound on one side to a metal overhead on the other side. Within seconds of the cab clearing the walkway there was a massive crushing sound as the roof of the car was smashed down in the center. Followed by a teeth chattering scraping sound as a metal blade penetrating the ceiling as it was being pushed through the roof. The blade was being pushed all the way down to the center console. Then it continued until it hit what you presumed was the drive shaft. For the car came to an abrupt stopped after hearing the metal bearing snapping under the floorboards.

You had practically jumped out of your skin as the blade came down. You had pulled your legs up and had moved as close to the door as you could while you held your breath. You mind was blank as you watched the blade being pushed all the way through the floor. What the FUCK? Was the last thing you though before the car jerked to stop.

"Get out and head for the stanchion!" Nyx yelled at you as he threw open his door.

You didn't hesitate as you threw open your door and sprinted up the dirt mound to the metal walkway. But you stopped short as you reached the top as you came face to face with what looked like a robotic person as they stood under the overhang. The color drained from your face as you watched him jerk his head in your direction and start to move towards you.

"FUCK!" You shouted as you took a step back. 

Then you looked over and saw the metal walkway again. 

"I have to get up there." You said to yourself as you looked at the top of the walkway. 

You took off at a run, only to stop within seconds as you realized that you were now suddenly standing on top of the walkway.  You stood there for a few second in shock as you looked at the metal beneath your feet. You then noticed that you had a blue glow coming off of your body as you stood there. 

What the hell is this? You thought as you watched the blue glow as it seemed to mist off of you. What the hell just happened?

"(Y/n)!" You heard Ignis yelled from below.

You quickly turned to face the direction that his voice came from. You saw him standing below as if in shock. You then noticed that there was one of those robotic soldiers coming up behind him.

"Ignis!" You shouted. 

"Look out!" You shouted to get his attention.

Ignis immediately looked around and saw the soldier approaching him. You concentrated and called forth your bow and pull the string back to which an arrow sat perched on the string as you readied to fire. You lined up with what you assumed was an eye and released. 

Kink!

You heard resound as the arrow penetrated the eye socket. This caused the robot to throw its head back from the force which made it stumbled backwards. You then called forth another arrow and aimed straight for the throat area and fired again. 

Kink!

This must have done the trick since the robot starting jerking around, then suddenly stopped and slowly fell over in a heap.

"Holy shit." You said out loud as you watched in fall.

"Nice shot." You heard from beside you.

You jumped and released your bow at the voice and slowly turned to see who said that. There with the same blue glow misting off of him, was Nyx. You stared at him as he walked over to you. You stood there taking quick short breaths as you adrenalin was pegged. Nyx walked over and handed you a curved dagger.

"Use this to concentrate your direction when you want to warp to a location." He said as he put the dagger in your hand. "All you have to do is concentrate your energy to the dagger then throw the dagger at an object in the direction that you want to go to. The energy will pull you to the dagger."

You stared at the dagger in disbelief as you tried to comprehend what he was saying. You didn't think that you could do that for two main reasons. For one, you had no idea what he was trying to tell you. For two, you weren't even sure if that's how you got where you are now. You gave him a confused look.

Nyx smiled back at you. 

"Like this." He said then he threw his dagger at the dirt mound on the far side and within milliseconds was pulling the dagger out of the ground as he stood up on the dirt mound. He had traveled like in some dream. The only difference was the blue glow that was misting off of him as he stood up on the far side of the dirt mound.

You jaw dropped as you stared at him. 

Holy shit! How the...?  You thought. 

But your thoughts were cut short as you saw those metal soldiers coming across the walkway and towards you. You couldn't fire at them from where you were standing. They were too close, you would never be able to move fast enough. Let alone there was the metal chain link fence that covered part of the walkway.

"(Y/N)!" You heard Gladio shout. 

You looked down in time to see him slice one of the robots in half before he looked back up at you. "Get out of there!"

You turned back to see the soldiers were coming from both sides of the walkway now. 

"Shit." You said as you watched them walking towards you. 

"Shit shit shit. Ummm." You said. 

Then you looked at the dagger. "Fuck. Looks like I have no choice."

You took a deep breath, then you held the dagger in your hand and concentrated on the dagger like it was an extension of yourself. Then you threw the dagger at the dirt mound by Nyx. Then it felt like you were being yanked towards the dagger as you were being pulled back to the dagger. You hit the ground hard as you landed on your left knee with your right leg bent up and your right hand on the dagger. You stayed there for a moment as you tried to catch your breath.

"Huh." Nyx smiled down at you as he held out his hand. "Not bad for your first time."

You saw his hand and reach up and grabbed his hand. Then you slowly got back up as you pulled the dagger out of the dirt. After he helped you stand up, you handed him back his dagger.

"Next time, let's try not to cut it so close." He said as he nodded back to the walkway.

You turned around and saw that there were several metal soldiers stand right under where you had just been. They were all stabbing the metal grate above them with their metal axes which was shredding the spot where you had just been standing. You felt the blood drain from your face as you stood there in shock as you watched them destroy the top of the walkway. Then you heard someone coming up from behind you. You quickly summoned your bow as you turned around with your bow drawn back again as you readied to fire again.

Ignis came to a abrupt stop as you drew your bow back as you aimed at him. He put his hands up as he stared at you. You slowly dropped your hands and the bow disappeared. You didn't know what to believe anymore as you stared at him. Nothing made sense to you anymore you weren't even sure if it was him standing in front of you or not. Then you quickly ducked as you felt and heard an explosion as the gas tank from the car that you were just in, erupted into a blazing infernal. You slowly stood up as you looked back at the car with your jaw dropped and your breath coming in short bursts.

You watched as the flames from the car caught the robots on fire that were now trapped in the walkway. You stood there in shock as you watched the scene in front of you. It looked like something out of a nightmare. You could hear the flames roaring off of the car. Then you could have sworn that you heard screams coming from the robots as they became engulfed in flames. They thrashed about before they dropped to the ground motionless.

Then you felt someone try to grab your hand. You jumped and yanked your hand away as you quickly backed away from whatever was trying to grab you. Then you looked up and saw Ignis standing there with his hand still in the air as he had tried to grab your hand. You saw the shocked expression on his face. You stood there breathing hard as you felt your heart beating out of your chest. You both just stood still there for a few minutes as you watched each other.

"What are you doing?" Axis shouted from where the other two cars were waiting. "We have to get out of here!"

His shouting caused you to look back at him. Then you quickly looked around you and noticed a large ship coming over the side of the hill. You could feel the ground shake as the engines seemed to rumble the very ground that you were standing on.

"How the hell did they get through our defenses?" You heard Nyx said from beside you. 

"Damn it." He shouted then he turned and grabbed your hand as he yanked you towards the cars.

You stumbled beside him as you ran down the hill and towards the cars. Ignis was running beside you as everyone else also raced back to the cars. Once you reached the cars everyone piled into the two remaining cars as the ship stopped and more soldiers jumped off of the now open ramp. The last thing you saw before you got into the back seat of the car was the robots silhouettes as they were heading your direction.

"Get in!" Pelna shouted at you as he practically shoved you into the back seat.

There wasn't any room left on the seats so you were forced to sit on someone's lap. Ignis was more than willing to allow you to sit on him. You didn't really care at this point where you ended up. For nothing made sense to you anymore.

Ignis tried his best to comfort you though. He had you sitting sideways so that your head could lay against his chest as he held you tightly against him. Since he was seated against the door, it made it a bit easier for you to lay against him. But even though you were once again in his warm and safe embrace. You couldn't seem to keep your body from shaking. You were so out of it that you didn't even hear the commotion that was going on around you.

"Faster Nyx!" Pelna shouted as he watched the ship on the window. "We have to get back to Insomnia."

"Stop telling me something I already know!" Nyx yelled back. 

"Instead, how about you make yourself useful and call the command post about the ship." Nyx shouted back as he made a hard right turn on the main road as he floored it to Insomnia.

Quickly Pelna grabbed his phone and called the command post. After a few minutes someone picked up. 

"Hey, this is Pelna. We were just attacked by imperial forces right outside of the Longwythe rest area." Pelna told the person on the phone.

"No I haven't been drinking you asshole."  He said after a short pause.

"I'm telling you, we were just attacked by several Magitek troops right outside of the Longwythe rest area. They took out one of our cars and almost got two of us in the process." He paused again while they spoke. "Yes one of our cars was just impaled by one of those machines. You want to see it?! Come on out and I'll gladly fucken show you!"

"Give me the damn phone." Nyx said as he grabbed the phone from him. "Look this is Nyx. We were sent out here on a special escort assignment for a certain person and were attacked on the way back. Now whether you believe us or not, you better send someone out to deal with the troops that are now walking straight into the Longwythe."

Nyx paused as they talked. "No we can't go back and help out. We have civilians with us and were given direct orders to not stop until we arrive back at the citadel. If you don't believe us, then go talk to the king yourself." Nyx said then hung up the phone.

"Fuck!" Nyx shouted as he threw the phone back at Pelna. "So much for a simple escort tonight."

Ignis just dropped his head as he rubbed his hands over your back and arms as he tried to comfort you. But nothing that he did seemed to calm you down. He could feel his heart drop as he felt your entire body shaking in his arms. All he could do was pull you closer to him as he gently kissed your forehead. He had never seen you like this before and wasn't even sure what to do at this point.

"Is she going to be alright?" You heard Monica ask as if in a dream.

"I'm not sure." Ignis quietly responded as he just held you.

"She'll be fine once we get her inside the city." Axis coldly said from the front seat.

His voice made you cringe and tense up as you tried to make yourself smaller so that you could escape him. His words still rang in your head....

"I don't know what bullshit story they told you. But they have worked for us for years." 

You dropped your head further as you could feel the tears coming to your eyes as you felt your whole world crashing down. There was no way. He had to be lying. Your mom was an HR Assistant, not some research assistant for the Kingsglaives. And you dad was a detective for the city. You had even been to his office. There was no way he was an investigator for the King. The tears poured from your eyes as you buried your face in Ignis' shirt as you crumbled in his arms once again.

Ignis felt helpless as all he could do was hold you. He was at a loss for words on what might bring you some comfort. But how could he help you, when he wasn't sure what was going on himself. The unknown was starting to drive him crazy. How was he supposed to be prepared if he had no idea what was happening.

"Now that everyone has been shaken to the core." Ignis said finally after his own frustration had reached its peak. "Would someone please tell us what the bloody HELL is going on?"

"At this point we aren't one hundred percent sure ourselves." Nyx began. "All I know is that Paul and Lynn, (Y/n)'s parents, have both gone missing and their car was found on fire in front of their house."

The whole car was silent with the exception of the roar of the engine as Nyx had the car racing towards the city. You laid there for a few minutes in silence as you took in his words. But you weren't quite hearing them. You were still trying to process the fact that they had been lying to you all these years. First they lied and now they missing.

"But why would they be missing?" Ignis asked as he looked at Nyx. "What value is there in taking them?"

"Like Axis has told (y/n) before we were attacked." Nyx began. 

"Paul and Lynn both work for the Kingsglaives. Lynn works in the research division and Paul works in the investigation division." Nyx said then paused as they passed through the gate that blocked off Insomnia from Leide.

Everyone held their breath as they waited to see if they were going to be attacked again. Everyone was staring hard out the windows as they looked for any type of movement from anything in the area. They wouldn't be caught off guard this time. But once both cars cleared the second gate they sighed as they continued on their way.

Nyx let out a deep breath once he saw the second car clear the second gate.  

"As I was saying. Lynn and Paul both work for the Kingsglaives and have been a vital asset to our successful missions with infiltrating the Imperial Bases. The knowledge that they possess when it comes to the Imperial's weaknesses has been how we have completed our missions, outside of brute strength that is. If they were indeed captured by Imperial Forces, there is no way to know to what means that they will go to to try and get information from them. That's why we have to take (y/n) so that we can keep her safe. If they get a hold of her, it will make is far more difficult for them to resist until we can get them back."  Nyx explained as he glided the car along the long bridge that led to the walls of Insomnia.

You hadn't moved or reacted to anything as you laid there as you listened to them talking as if they were talking about someone other than you. You were finally able to stop your body from shaking. But this was now replaced with you not being able to feel anything at all. It was as if you were in a horror film that wasn't ever going to end.

Ignis absently rubbed your back the rest of the ride to Insomnia. Everyone else sat there in silence as they all seemed to be distracted by their own thoughts. Even Ignis was distracted as he looked out the window of the car as it finally drove through the gates in the wall that protected the city. 

You heard the others start to relax as they finally saw the familiar sights and sounds of Insomnia. You, on teh other hand, remained numb as you just laid there on Ignis. Everyone was excited about being home. But there was nothing left for you to go home to. Your house was empty. And you were pretty sure that they weren't going to let you go there to grab anything.

Ignis ran his hand through your hair as he moved it behind your ear. 

"If you want love." Ignis began. 

"I can see if my uncle would let me stay at the citadel as well tonight?" Ignis said as he lifted your chin up so that he could look at you. "I hate to leave you like this tonight."

"That's fine." You said as you just stared at the floorboards.

"But you don't have to. I would hate to take you out of your own bed." You said as you dropped your eyes further. "Just because mine is gone, doesn't mean that anyone else should have to go without theirs."

Ignis felt his heart sink at your words. He pulled you closer to him again.

"I'm not concerned with my bed. I'm more concerned about you at the moment." He said then he gently pressed his lips to your forehead. "Besides, there is no way that I would be able to sleep without knowing that you are safe and sound."

You slowly lifted up your head as you looked at him. You looked in his eyes as you searched for any sign of a lie. It seemed that everyone had lied to you lately. What was to say that he wasn't lying to you as well? But even as you looked. the only thing that you saw in those deep emerald eyes was love and concern. You gave him a weak smile as you fought back more tears as they threatened to pour from your eyes.

Ignis took his hand and rubbed the remaining tears away from you eyes as he gave you a weak smile back. Then he raised your chin a bit higher and gently pressed his lips against yours. You closed your eyes as the gentle kiss helped to give you a glimmer of reality. After a few moments he broke away and pulled you closer to him as if he was afraid that you might disappear.

After a short drive, the cars arrived at the Citadel gates and were soon driving across the black asphalt driveway that led to the front stairs. Once the cars came to a stop, there seemed to be about a million people surrounding the cars. There were several Kingsglaives standing outside the car. They immediately went up and started talking to the Nyx, Pelna and Axis once they were out of the car. Several servants were grabbing bags out the cars and started hauling them inside. Even Monica and Gina joined them in carrying up some of the items from the car.

Ignis loosened his grip on you and gave you a concerned look. 

"Are you going to be able to walk up the stairs?" He asked as he rubbed your back.

You smiled to him as you slide off of his lap and onto the seat beside him. 

 "I'll be alright. Thank you." You said as you kept your eyes down.

Ignis gave you a half smile then slide out of the car and held out his hand for you. You slowly slide over and grabbed his hand. Once you were out of the car you glanced around. You saw that Gladio was talking to Cor as they walked up the stairs. Then you saw the glaives engaged in a heated conversation over the whole situation that had just happened.

But the one person that got the most reaction out of you was watching King Regis reach into the second car and grab Noctis. He gently pulled him out of the car and pulled him close to his chest as if he was afraid of losing him. Then despite the protest from the servants around him, King Regis held Noctis in his arms as he carried his son up the stairs and inside where he would be safe. To you, the whole world seemed to stop as you watched him walk up the stairs and through the front doors.

You dropped your gaze once they were out of sight. Then you felt a slight squeeze to your hand as Ignis tighten his grip on your hand. You looked up at him and slightly smiled. He smiled back then interlaced his fingers with yours and started leading you up the stairs. You both walked in silence as you entered the Citadel and into the royal family personal quarters. Ignis was directed to show you to one of the spare rooms that was a few doors down from Noctis' room.

Ignis opened the double doors to reveal a room that looked to be the same size as the entire downstairs of your family's house. You glanced around the room and was blown away with how much room there was. When you walked in, there was a vanity on the right, with a full size stand up mirror just to the right side of it. This up against the wall that was next to a huge wardrobe.

The main room also included a huge desk that stood in the middle of the room and had a full size sleeper couch in front of it. In front of the couch there was a very large flat screen TV with several gaming consoles. The last thing that you noticed was the king size canopy bed that had full drapes that wrapped around the entire bed. This was surrounded by a few small dressers and was next to the door that led to the private bathroom. The bathroom was also very spacious with it's full size shower, two sinks, a commode, and a full ceiling to sink, length mirror behind the sinks.

You gaped at the room as you took it the classic design and decor that seemed to finish off the ever elegant and majestic feel to the room. You had never seen a room like this in person. Sure you had seen them in magazines or on movies. But never had you pictured it to be quite so grand.

The last thing that you noticed were the open double-doors on the outside wall that seemed to lead outside. Which was strange since you had never seen a balcony of citadel before. And had you walking towards it further investigate. As you approached the doors you realized that it was a balcony that stretched out from the room and into a huge massive garden. You walked out and was welcomed by the beautiful fragrance of the various flowers that were blooming within the warmly heated room.

You stood there for a few minutes as you looked around the garden in silence. Ignis walked up from behind and wrapped his arms around you waist. You initially jumped but then calmed right down once you caught scent of his cologne. He pulled you close and laid his head across your shoulder as he looked at the garden as well.

"I have to go grab a few things from my uncle's place, but I'll be right back." Ignis quietly said as he gently kissed the side of your neck. 

"But if it's okay with you. I would like to sleep in this room with you. I would be on the couch of course." Ignis said then he took one rugged breath. "But I know that I would feel better if I was near you to make sure that your okay. Besides, after tonight's events, I can't say that I trust anyone else with keeping you safe. At least not with Noctis being out as well."

"I would really like that." You quietly said as you looked down. "I don't really want to be alone tonight."

Ignis took your chin in his hand as he turned you towards him. 

"Then let me go so that I can get back before it gets any later." He quietly said as he ran his thumb over your lips.

You hummed back at him as you nodded. Then you leaned up and gave him a slow tender kiss on his lips. He released you after a few moments and backed up as he headed for the door. 

"I'll be back in a few. Just stay here so that I can find you." He said as he reached the door.

You smiled to him and nodded. Then with that he stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him with a soft click.

You stayed on the balcony as you waited for Ignis to return. Your legs were pulled up against your chest as you sat on the floor and just stared out at the garden. The events of the evening kept running through head like in some movie. You were still trying to make sense of everything. But nothing seemed to be able to explain what had happened, except what you had been told.

You were lost in thought when something white caught your attention. You quickly looked up and started to scan the garden a bit closer. And that was when you saw it again as it went across the back wall of the garden. Your heart immediately started to race.

Could it be? You half thought and half pleaded.

You had to find out. You went flying out of the room and down the stairs that led up to the main floor of the living quarters. You followed the hallway down until you ran across the dining room and saw that the glass doors were open and you could see the garden on the other side. You raced out and started looking around frantically.

"Please tell me that I wasn't seeing things." You said to yourself as you looked around as your heart started to race.

Then you saw something white flash by again. Your eyes shot wide open and your heart skipped a beat.

"Snowball?" You asked as you looked towards the white flash.

"Kitty Kitty Kitty." You quietly said, half hoping that you were right, but afraid to get your hopes crushed.

The white flash stopped in its tracks and a white tail shot up in the air and started slowly making its way over to you.

Meeooow.

You dropped to your knees after hearing that sweet voice.

"Snowball." You said as tears started to stream from your eyes.

"Here kitty kitty kitty." You called again as you felt your throat tighten up.

And with that you saw a beautiful white cat face peek out from under a giant green tree fran as she started making her way towards you. You instantly started crying as she walked up to you. You reached out and grabbed her and held her tight. You quietly cried as you held her.

Then you noticed that something seemed to be matted in her fur. You slowly pulled her away and looked over her. That was when you noticed that on one side, she was covered in blood. You screamed at the sight but still held her tighter as you cried out heavy sobs.

Don't you hate cliffhangers? I know I do.  Unless, I'm the one writing them. ;)

But I really do hope that you enjoyed this chapter. This is one that I have been getting excited about writing. But I had to build up to it correctly, otherwise it won't work very well and would be very confusing.

But don't worry the momentum doesn't stop with this. It just gets better as we go along. So I hope to see you in the next chapter as we learn how she will have to handle the mysterious disappearance of her parents as well as everything else.
