"Are you sure I can't help?" You asked as you peeked around the doorway to the kitchen with only your sweatshirt and panties on.

"You have been doing enough cooking for me." Ignis replied as he was stirring something on the stove top while wearing only his jeans.  "Let me be the one to treat you for once."

"But I don't mind." You said as you step into the kitchen.

Ignis looked up at you and watched you make your way over to him.  "You, my dear, are supposed to be relaxing."

"I am relaxed." You teased as you walked up behind him and wrapped your arms around his waist.  "And besides, I got lonely out there by myself."

"I would much rather be in here with you." You said as you laid your head against his back.  "Let me stay.  Please?"

Ignis signed as he placed a hand on yours.  "Fine.  You can stay. But your not touching the stove. Okay?"

"Okay."  You quietly replied as you slightly tightened up your grip on him.

You closed your eyes and quietly enjoyed the relaxing scent of his combined body wash, your favorite cologne and of course Ignis. There wasn't a smell more heavenly to you then him. And feeling his body moving under your fingers as he cooked and to hear his breathing in his chest, took away all of the disturbing thoughts that had been bringing you down. He was there in your arms. And you wanted to hold onto him for as long as you could.

Ignis gently stroked your hand as he slowly stirred the marinara sauce with meat and veggies mixed in. He loved having you in the kitchen with him. It just always seemed to be perfect with you in there. And it didn't seem to matter which kitchen. Just as long as you were there by his side.

After a bit, you slowly released him and looked at the stove. "So what are we having?"

"I decided to try one of your dishes tonight." He said as he gave you a slight smile.  "I hope spaghetti is okay with you?"

"Hmmmm. That sounds perfect." You said as you turned around and started to grab the bread. "I can do the garlic bread."

"No." He said as he quickly turned around and grabbed your hand before you even touched the bread bag.  "I told you.  You're not cooking tonight."

"But I want to help." You pouted at him as he moved in front of you.

"You want to help?" He asked with a searching look as he placed his hands on your sides and moved himself up against you as he backed you up against the counter.

"Yes." You replied with a smirk as you put your hands on his shoulders.

"Okay."  Ignis said as he tightened up his grip on your waist as he lifted you up and sat your butt on the kitchen counter.  "You can help by staying right here and keeping your hands to yourself."

"But..." You tried to argue back as you gave him a sad look.

Ignis sighed as he moved up in between your legs and pulled you close to him.  "Will you let me do something for you for once? Let me be your loving boyfriend.  It's the least I can do since you have been my supportive girlfriend.  Alright?"

"Okay." You quietly replied as you gave him a slightly seductive smile.

After a delicious dinner of spaghetti, garlic bread, and a fresh tossed salad.  The two of you were back in the kitchen cleaning up from dinner.  You were glad that he let you help him put away everything and clean the kitchen back up before getting the popcorn and sodas ready for the movie.  Both of you were happily talking about the movie that you had selected.  

You had decided to go with action romance movie this time.  It was about a young woman warrior who had decided to secretly join her country's army using her father's name so that he wouldn't be drafted for a war that her country was suddenly facing.  It was an older story and had been talked about at the school for a while.  But you didn't care.  Neither of you had seen it yet due to how busy you had both been.  Which made it the perfect movie for the night.

So after everything was put away, kitchen cleaned up, popcorn popped, and the cold drinks were prepared.  The two of you found yourselves sitting side-by-side on the couch with the popcorn on his lap as you leaned up against him as you watched the movie.  Neither of you spoke at first as you watched the movie.  You would only occasional eat a couple pieces of popcorn.  Or feed him a couple pieces.

Suddenly your phone started to go off and made both of you jump.  But as you looked around, you couldn't seem to find your phone.   The sound of the ringer going off told you that it was right by you.  But you couldn't see it on the couch, end tables, or even on the coffee table. 

But then with heated cheeks you remembered what had happened to it.  You removed the blanket from yourself and slid off the couch to look around the floor.  Ignis paused the movie and sat up as well. That was when you saw your phone just under the edge of the couch.  You picked it up and saw Noctis' name come across the screen.

You sighed as you answered the phone and sat back on your heels.  "Hey Noct.  What's up?  Is there something wrong?"

"Hey.  I was just checking in with you.  I hadn't heard from you since late yesterday and I just wanted to make sure that everything was okay.  You know with the college and all."

"Everything's fine."  You said as you slumped up against the couch for a moment.

"That's good."  He quietly replied before he continued.  "So what are you doing?"  

"Ignis and I are just relaxing and watching a movie." You said as you looked up at Ignis and gave him a half smile.

"Oh yeah...." Noctis asked in a low tone.  "Which one?  Oh wait.  Don't tell me it's that one about that chic we keep hearing about?"

"One in the same."  You said as Ignis stood up with a smile and took the rest of the popcorn and empty glasses into the kitchen.

"I thought that we were going to watch that together?"  Noctis said with a disappointed tone.

"I know."  You quietly replied as you glanced towards the floor.  "But this is his last weekend here before he heads out.  And besides, you and I can watch it later."

"Yeah, whatever."  You heard Noctis reply with a bit of an edge to his voice.  "So when are you going to be back home?  I don't really like calling when I know your over at his place."

"I don't see how that should matter."  You replied as you heard the water running in the kitchen.  "It's not like you haven't been here before or anything."

"You know why it matters."

"No, I don't Noct."  You said as folded up your legs in front of you as you sat on the floor and leaned up against the couch.  "Ignis is your friend and your retainer.  Hell he's practically your brother for as long as you have known each other.  And he takes care of you like he is one.  You can't tell me that your not going to miss him when he's gone."

"That's not your concern."  Noctis said in a harsh tone.

"Whoa.  What the hell is that tone for?"  You asked as you sat there stunned from his reaction.

"Look, just call me when you get home.  Okay?  I won't call you again.  At least not until I know that your back at your house."

"Noct...?"  You started to ask as you suddenly felt very confused.

"Just......just try not to stay there too long.  It will make leaving that much harder."

You slightly gasped as it dawned on you what he meant.  He wasn't upset that you were there alone with Ignis.  He was more upset that he wasn't there as well to spend time with Ignis before leaving for the next few months.  Noctis had never had to deal with Ignis leaving like this before.

"Noct..."  You quietly said as you as fought the tears that were threatening to fall.

"Just be sure to send him off happy.  Okay?"

"Yeah."  You quietly replied as you felt your throat starting to close up on you.

"Night."

"Night Noct."  You returned, but he had hung up right as you said it.

"Is everything alright?"  Ignis asked as he walked back into the living room and sat back down on the couch.

You lightly bit your lip as you tried to keep it from trembling.  All of the events of the day were suddenly start to make sense to you now.  Now you knew why Noctis had been so obnoxious.  It wasn't that he wanted to keep Ignis from you or punish him in anyway.  He did it to try and get Ignis' attention one last time before he left.  

There was no guarantee that Noctis would even see Ignis before he left for Cartinia.  And for Noctis, it seemed, every second he got to spend with him, he wanted to count.  You couldn't help but you tighten up your grip on your phone as you felt your heart ache for Noctis.  You could only imagine the loneliness that must be trying to creep up into him at the moment.

Oh Noctis.  You thought as you took in a shaky breath to steady yourself again before you spoke.  

"Yeah."  You said before you looked back up at Ignis who was looking down at you with concern.  "Noctis and I always talk to each at night before we go to bed for the night."

"Noctis must not be feeling well."  Ignis said as he glanced around as if in a daze.  "It's not like him to be up this late."

"I'm sure he's fine."  You said as you tried to reassure him.  I don't want ignis to find out that Noctis is upset about him leaving.  All of this is already hard enough on him.  And on all of us.  And I don't want him to regret his choice in schools.  "We can call him tomorrow or even stop by and see him if you like?"

"That might not be a bad idea."  Ignis said as he helped you back up off the floor.  "I did want to take one last look around to make sure that I'm not leaving anything behind."

Like us?  You though as you sat back down on the couch as you kept your face turned away from him.  "That sounds like a plan then."

"How about we lay down for the rest of the movie?"  You suggested as you sat on the edge of the couch.

"Alright."  Ignis said as he laid down against the back of the couch and on his side.

You smiled at him and laid down in front of him so that you were both facing the TV.  Ignis then covered up both of you with the blanket and unpaused the movie.  He then wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled you back against his chest as he rested his head on the pillow while you had your head on his arm.  His warm embrace felt nice and sobering as you realized that this might be the last time that you'll be laying like this for a very long time.

You interlaced your fingers with his as you hugged his arm up against your chest.  Your heart felt like it was going to crack as you laid there.  The rest of the movie went by in a blur as your thoughts kept returning to the fact that he would be leaving in a few days.  Hell, he would be gone before the official last day of school.  Korn had said that it would be safer for him to travel before all of the other students did.  He would have an easier time blending in then.

You couldn't help the tears anymore as they started to fall.  But luckily for you, it was right during the scene when the woman warrior was finally confronting her father and apologizing for leaving the way that she had.  Which brought more tears to your eyes.  Ignis felt you start to shake and lifted you chin up to his as the credits started to run.

Tears started to pour down your eyes.  But Ignis didn't seem to mind.   He simply wiped the tears away with his thumb and gently kissed your eyelids.  The gentleness of it brought more tears as you heart cracked.

"Let's say we call it a night."  Ignis said as he slowly pulled away and searched your eyes as he moved your hair behind your ears.  "Okay?"

All you could do was nod at him and give him a half smile as your throat started to hurt from the tension of fighting back the tears.  Ignis smiled back and kissed you gently on the forehead before he released you.  The two of you then cleaned up and headed to his bedroom for the night.

Sexy, sappy, and sad, the three S's that make up a great romance novel.  Although I probably should have added more to my disclosure for this chapter.  But I didn't want to ruin the plot.  And besides, we kind of saw the sad part starting anyway.  And it's not really going to get any cheerier for a bit.

But what is cheerier for me is that through your support, this book has hit 37k as of this chapter.  It had me a bit worried since I was really struggling with this chapter.  But not to worry,  I have a great plan for the next few chapters.  But I will warn you this, it might require a box of tissues, or two.
