I have never published any of my work before. Since I'm my worst critic when it comes to my stories. But still. I do hope that you enjoy the story. Some of the story is inspired by various aspects of the FFXV Brotherhood series, the game play itself, as well as all the episodes. There will also be a bit of the Kingsglaive Movie mixed in it as well.

SPOILER ALERT: This story does contain spoilers from the mini anime series Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV that was released just before the video game. If you are planning on watching these, please don't read this story until you have watched all of the episodes that lead us up to one of the greatest games of all time.

I do not own any of the Final Fantasy XV Characters or any of the art work. Most of the pictures are from the various screenshots that were taken while playing the video game for the Playstation 4, the Windows 10 Royal Edition for PC, and from the the Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV anime series. THE warm breeze blew through your hair as you looked out upon the hustle and bustle of Insomnia, the city that never sleeps. You could see the people driving their cars as they traveled to their various destinations. People could be heard talking to each other as they were strolling past as they headed through the busy streets. There was even the occasional hum of the underground trains rumbling under your feet as they transported people through their vast tunnels. There was nothing like the sounds of the city. And you loved every sight, sound, and smell. Well, maybe not every smell.

This day had found you relaxing at the city park reading your book in the comfort of the trees. The warm summer day was way too nice to spend inside. Which is why you decided to come to the park in the first place. This would be one of those days that would normally be rated as one of your favorite days, but you just couldn't help from getting distracted by the various people walking by and the children playing in the grass. The kids laughter carried to you as you watched them playing tag. They reminded you of the time that you use to spend playing with Prince Noctis after he would slip out the citadel.

You see when Prince Noctis was a child he wasn't allowed to play outside of the confines of the citadel walls. He would have to spend most of his time within the safety of the compound. He only came out when it was time to go to school or if there was a special event that was being held outside of the gates. So for him, the citadel at times seemed to be a cage that he was always trapped in. That was until he came to find a secret route that lead him out to a small park that was just outside of those walls.

The first time he found the route though was by pure accident. It happened when he had been following a stray cat that had wandering into the interior garden. And it was due to that cat that you got to meet the Prince for the first time.

********FLASH BACK********

Noctis was sitting at his desk in his room trying to finish his math assignment for his studies. He was swinging his legs back and forth as he was gloomily looking out of his balcony door at the beautiful three-story high, fully enclosed greenhouse. The greenhouse itself was attached to the back wall of the Citadel of Lucis, which sat in the heart of Insomnia. And was know as the beacon of hope for the whole kingdom. Because that was where the huge protection spell for the kingdom was generated by the King himself through the power of the Crystal, aka Stone of Legend.

But Noctis wasn't thinking about that as he longed to be laying in the shade of a tree while listening to the birds singing their various songs. The greenhouse always reminded him of the time that he use to spend in there with his mom. Because when they were in the garden, she would read him books about pirates and explorers, and their many adventures. He loved to act out the various parts while pretending to hunt for treasure.

Noctis smiled to himself every time he remembered the fun they use to have. Unfortunately, that also reminded him of how she was tragically taken from him. And how he had almost perished himself that day. The vision of her lifeless body laying next to him in a pool of their blood, was something that would flash through his head for a long time. And the heartache he felt every time was a constant reminder of how weak he had been when he had looked at her.

On this particular day however, his heart started to race as he was remembered the assailant that had caused all of it. Those hideous eyes, scaly body, and multiple arms all holding various swords. All of which was supported by her giant snake body. This was an image that was forever burned in his memories and had plagued him with nightmares ever since that fateful night.

As he was still thinking of the monster, he jumped as a flash of white near one of the bushes inside the garden caught his attention. He shook his head and stared at the bush again, just as the white streak flew across the green backdrop. It seemed to be head to the back of the garden, but he wasn't sure. So he stood up and wiped his face with his arm so that he might get a better glimpse of whatever it was. And that's when he saw it moving away from him and towards the opposite side of the garden. He quickly decided that the math paper would have to wait, he had to found out what creature how found its way into the citadel.

Noctis then quickly got up and put on his shoes so that he could follow the invader. Someone had to protect the citadel from trespassers after all. Besides, he wouldn't be much of an explorer if he let it leave without finding out what it was. So once his shoes were, he had quickly dashed out of his room.

Then he quietly snuck down the stairs and through the hallway that led through the living quarters. He was able to do this without being detected by the staff. Which in itself was a trick since there always seemed to be people everywhere within the Citadel. But Noctis had learned how to sneak past them without being detected from his many games of hide and go seek. He then slowed down when he was one foot away from the garden door entrance in the dining room.

All clear. He had thought to himself. Just as long as ........

"Prince Noctis?" Noctis heard as a smooth accented voice call out from behind him, which made Noctis freeze in place. "Are you finished with your assignments already?"

Noctis had then slowly turned around to look at who had prevented his escape. And saw that it was his royal retainer, Ignis Scientia. It appeared as if he had been standing right beside the dining room table when Noctis walked in. He gave the young prince a curious look as he stood there in his usual white button-up shirt and tie. He looked like a proper retainer in his favorite navy blue suit vest and matching slacks.

"Ignis.... Hi..... Um.... Not yet..... I uh, just came down for a glass of juice." Noctis had nervously replied as he rubbed the back of his head with his hand.

Ignis had simply looked at him through his silver rimmed glasses as he was taking in the reaction that he had received. He could tell that Noctis was trying to hide something, but at the time he wasn't quite sure what that was. Even thought Ignis looked intently into Noctis's deep sapphire eyes to see if he could figure out what was going through the young prince's mind. Mine you that he had gotten pretty good at telling if the boy was up to no good. But that day Noctis' eyes didn't seem to have that fire in them that usually meant mischief. But even then, he decided that he would keep any eye on him.

"Would you like me to get it for you and bring it back up to your room?" Ignis had slowly asked as he tried to see if he could get Noctis to indicate what his true intentions were.

"No, that's okay. I can get it myself." Noctis had simply said as a big smile spread across his face.

"Very well. But don't take too long. You still have to finish your studies." Ignis had said as he gave Noctis a stern but gentle look.

"I know. I won't be long." Noctis then said as he turned on his heel and ran through the french doors and into the garden.

"Thanks Iggy!" He had shouted as he entered the garden.

Ignis had simply stood fast for a few minutes before he started to walk towards the hallway doorway.

That boy will never get his work done if he keeps making excuses like that. Ignis had thought to himself.

Then he stopped short of exiting the dining room.

What a minute? The kitchen is beside me. Why did he go into the garden? Ignis had asked himself.

Then he had quickly turned on his heel and headed into the garden himself as he started to follow Noctis.

Once inside the garden, Noctis had headed to the back of the garden where he had last seen the white creature run off. He had then started searching the ground by pushing back the large tree frans and scanned the ground for any sign of footprints or to hopefully catch a glimpse of the monster. But there had been nothing there but dirt and grass. Had he missed it?

"Hmmm. If I were a monster, how would I get into the Citadel?" Noctis had asked himself quietly as he glanced around.

Then he had knelt down on the ground in his black shorts and black pullover shirt. And that was when he had spotted something white as it dashed out of an ground level open window that was used as a vent for the garden. Noctis had then quickly made his way to the window. Then after looking at the opening to make sure that he could make it through, he had slipped through the small opening.

Once he was through, he then had stood up and glanced around to see if he could catch sight of the creature again. That's when he noticed the stairs leading to the underground service tunnels.

Could it have gone down there? Noctis had thought.

No, there's no way. He thought dismissively.

Then he had paused as he reconsidered it. But then again, monsters do love cold, damp, and dark places.

That was when he had heard the faint sound of a can being bounced off of something hard like concrete.

What was that? Noctis had though nervously as he slowly approached the stairs. Was that the creature?

Well, the only way to find out is to check it out. Noctis had continued as he placed his foot on the top stair.

And with that, Noctis had cautiously headed down the stairs and into the cool darkness of the service tunnels. As he entered, he could smell the distinct odor of rusted metal and mildew. He noticed that the tunnel had various sized pipes that ran along the wall on one side. There was the occasional light source from the sun as it streamed in through the grates that lined the side where the pipes hung. The floor under the pipes was lower than the walkway to help out with the storm water as it would come in through the grates. Some of the pipes were dripping wet with condensation. While others seemed to be sending off massive amounts of heat. All while other pipes seemed to be close to bursting from the pressure.

Noctis had stopped just inside the entrance to contemplate whether he should venture any further in the tunnels. That's when he noticed a long white fluffy tail sliding around the far corner of the tunnel.

There it is. Noctis had thought as his curiosity was peaked. Now's my chance to see what it is.

His curiosity sent him slightly jogging down to the end of the tunnel. He stopped when he reached the corner. Then he'd peered around the corner and noticed an open door that was about half way down the long straight tunnel. The door seemed to lead to the outside as bright sunlight was pouring out of it and into the dark tunnel. The brilliant light reflected off of a small pool of water that was right beside the door. When Noctis peered his head around the corner, he'd seen the tail again as it was dashed out the door.

Shoot! Noctis had thought as he took off at full speed and heading for the door. l can't lose sight of it now.

Unfortunately, when he'd tried to stop at the door, he found out that he'd gone to fast. Because once he'd hit the wet floor right by the door, he had gone sliding right past the door. Luckily his only slightly stumbled as he came to a stop. Then he had carefully turned around and headed back to the door again. Of course that time he'd taken his time to make sure that he didn't slide again on the wet pavement.

What Noctis had seen then would surprise and thrill him for a long time after that. Because the door had led him into what seemed to be a small park. But the park wasn't on the grounds. It had to be the one that was just on the other side of the fence line that surrounded the Citadel. When he slowly walked out into the sun, he looked around at the various trees that surrounded the entrance to the tunnel. He hadn't been able to quite place the area. Even though he'd he had seen it before.

Right as he looked around was when he had noticed you laying on the ground in a clearing that was about 500 yards from the tree line where he stood. You appeared to be enjoying the suns rays as you were laying on a blanket on the ground while reading a book. The sun seemed to accent you, as your (h/c) hair seem to shimmer in the bright sunlight. Noctis had been surprised at how beautiful and peaceful you'd looked as you laid there on your blanket in your (f/c) skirt and shirt.

Staring at you though had made him feel weird. And he was about to walk away. But that was when he noticed the white tail in the bushes right next to you, and it seemed to be heading your way.

It's going to get her! Noctis thought right as he turned and started racing towards the tail as it took off straight for you. I have to save her!

Unknown to you since you'd been totally into your book, the event that was about the unfold. Because the white tailed monster came running up to you and rubbed its head on your arm as it purred at you. You had jumped at first but then smiled as you looked down at your pure white long haired cat. You then started to pet her soft and fluffy fur as she purred back at you.

And right then had been when Noctis came flying full speed out of the trees towards you shouting. "Get away from her, you monster!"

You'd quickly grabbed your cat and jumped to your feet as you wrapped your arms protectively around her.

"No. You get away!" You'd shouted as you glared at him.

"And what do you want with her anyway?" You had asked as you held you cat tightly to your chest as she tried to squirm away.

Noctis had slowed down to a jog after he saw what it was that he had been following. He then slowed his pace down to a walk as he continued towards you.

"So it was only a cat that I saw." Noctis had stated out loud as he let out a sigh of relief.

"She's not just a cat. She's my cat. And why are you following her? Are you stalking us?" You'd asked bluntly while glaring at this Raven black haired, gorgeous, blue-eyed stranger who seemed to be very interested in your cat for some reason.

"No, no, no. It's not like that." Noctis had said as he waved his hands in front of himself. "Your cat had gotten into my garden and I was following it to see how it had gotten in is all."

"Oh." You'd said in shock as you stopped in your tracks.

"I'm sorry about that." You continued softly as you'd bowed your head towards him. "She does tend to wander around a lot when we come to the park."

"I hope that she didn't cause you any trouble." You'd stated as you looked back at him and tilted your head to one side.

Your (h/c) hair swayed to the side as you gave him a worried look.

Wow. She's really pretty. Noctis'd thought as he smiled back. "Not at all. In fact she may have helped me out."

"Oh good." You sighed in relief as you started to pet her. "For a minute there, I thought that you were going to tell me that she had wandered into the Citadel or something. Boy would that be embarrassing."

"Well actually.." He started to say as he rubbed the back of head which caused his black unkempt hair to fluff up even more in the back.

You'd gasped as you pulled her up in front of your face. "Don't tell me she did it again?"

"Again?" Noctis had asked. "She's done it before?"

"Yes, about a month again." You had replied as you placed her back down to the ground.

Then you stood back up with your head bowed, but this time in shame. "You see Snowball, my cat, likes to hunt mice and she must have followed one into the Citadel grounds. But one of the guards was kind enough to grab her for me so that I could take her back home."

"Do you remember what he looked like?" Noctis had asked out of curiosity.

"Well, he was a tall kid who had what looked like a bowl cut in his brown hair. The sides and back were shaved. Oh, and he had on a black uniform. He looked like he was in middle school or something." You'd stated as you looked at Noctis again. "Why do you ask?"

"Oh. No particular reason." He had replied as he looked back towards the Citadel. That sounds like Gladio. I'll have to ask him later if he knows anything about this.

"(Y/N)!" You had heard your mom's voice call out to you. "Come on. It's time to go."

"Coming mom!" You had shouted back.

"Well I have to go now." You then told Noctis.

"Hopefully I'll see you soon. Will you be here tomorrow?" You'd asked as you reached down and grabbed your blanket and book off of the ground.

"I can sure try." Noctis had stated as you started to walk away.

"What's your name?" He then asked.

"It's (y/n)." You'd stated as you moved your hair behind your ear. "What's yours?"

"It's Noct." He had answered back.

"Nice to meet you Noct." You then said with a smile. "If you come again tomorrow, perhaps we can play?"

"Yeah." Noctis had replied with a big smile on his face. "I would like that alot."

"(Y/N)! Come on!" Your mom had shouted again.

"I really gotta go." You then quickly said.

"I'll see you tomorrow Noct!" You had stated as you started running towards your mom while carrying your blanket and book as your cat chased the blanket as it dragged on the ground.

"See you then!" He shouted as he'd waved goodbye with a big grin.

"Who was that?" Your mom had asked once you caught up with her.

"Just my new friend mom." You had simply replied as you started heading home.

Noctis then had turned around and started to head back to his room. He had known that Ignis would be looking for him. But when he made his way back through the tunnel, he had made sure to leave markers that would let him know which direction to go in order to get back to the park. Once he had arrived back at the garden windows he could hear Ignis calling his name.

Had I taken that long? He had thought as he was crouched down by partially opened window.

Great. Iggy's going to figure this out if he sees me. I have to be careful. Noctis had thought as he tried to look for shadows through the foggy glass windows that contained the garden.

But he knew that if he could get into the garden, then he could warp to a better location within the garden. He hadn't warp very far yet, since he was still learning at that point how to control this power. But at that moment all he needed was to move a few feet, which was about how far he had been able to at that point.

Noctis held his breath as he saw a faint shadow walk right past the open window. Then he breathed a sign of relief as the shadow moved away from the window and further into the garden

I better go before he closes the window on me. Noctis thought as he quickly squeezed through the partially opened window once the shadow moved further away from the window.

After he had slipping in, he saw that Ignis was about 3 yards away.

Perfect. Now to put some distance between us. He had though as he looked around the garden.

He then quietly started moving away from Ignis and towards the door that led to the dining room. He knew that Ignis would hear the motion of him warping if he did it too close to him. But once he was about two feet from the door he had took one last glance at Ignis' back. Then he warped his way out of the room and ran to the kitchen.

Then once he was in the kitchen, he then walked over to the cupboards. There he'd grabbed a glass and walked into the cooler and quickly poured himself a glass of juice, which he drained in one gulp. After putting down the empty glass he smacked his lips as he signed to himself. Then he refilled the empty glass, put back the juice and headed out of the kitchen as he started to make his way back to his room. As he was walking out, he took a sip from the glass and almost ran into Ignis, who was walking into the room.

"Oh. There you are." Ignis had stated as he looked at the Prince. "Where have you been? I've been looking for you."

"I told you, I was getting a drink." Noctis then stated as he took another sip.

"Now if you will excuse me, I have to get back to my studies." He'd stated as he walked out of the room and left the stunned and puzzled Ignis behind.
