Third person pov
It was like fireworks. A cliche way to describe it, but Tenya wasn't sure how else to categorize the sparks he felt when they're lips finally met. It was like getting a breath of fresh air. Everything melted away. The tension in his shoulders seeped out into nothingness, and the worries he'd held onto so tightly before were released just like that. There was nothing to it. Tenya had been dreaming of something like this happening for... he wasn't even sure how long anymore. It felt like forever since the thought had popped into his mind, and now here he was, living it out just as he'd always hoped.
It had seemed impossible before, but now Tenya wasn't sure how it hadn't happened sooner. He wondered distantly just how he'd managed to wait so long. Because right now, his hands were resting on Kit's waist, and it felt better than he'd imagined it, and Kit had his hands on Tenya's shoulders, and they were small and warm. The weeks upon weeks of silently suffering as he fell further in love with his best friend seemed worth it if they were truly what led up to this moment happening.
Kit grinned against his lips. At first Tenya fumbled, unsure of what to do. Kit wasn't exactly all that experienced himself, but he had it down enough that Tenya was able to adjust at a reasonable rate. Kit had to ask himself why he hadn't done this sooner. He could have done this weeks ago, and the outcome would have been the same. Tenya had ogled his ass enough times that Kit knew the attraction had been going on for some time. The taller teen thought he was being subtle, poor thing. Kit was willing to let him live in his land of lies a little longer.
Tensei stepped out of the police station, took one look at the pair making out, and then turned right back around and walked inside again. If the two noticed him, they didn't acknowledge him. Unless Tenya grumbling into the kiss counted, but Tensei highly, highly doubted it at this point. He reentered the precinct with a sigh. At least they were finally together. They just could have picked a more convenient time to make-out, that's all. Like... I don't know... maybe when they weren't outside on a public street, in front of a law enforcement building charging Kit's mother for abuse, neglect, and a plethora of other things.
Tenya's face was an incredibly unhealthy shade of red by the time the pair parted, his eyes wide and glasses crooked. Kit just raised an eyebrow at him. Acting as though they hadn't just made out on the street. He and Kit. Best friends. Had just made out. Last time Tenya checked, and he could totally be wrong on this, so bear with him, best friends didn't... you know... make out. Or kiss in general. Not like that, anyway. Plus Tenya was still holding Kit's waist, and that wasn't just friendly.
"You okay there?" Kit asked, bringing a hand up to nudge his face. The touch seemed to jolt him out of his stupor, and he leapt back as though Kit had burned him. In a way, the brunette had. But in a good way. That didn't make sense. Or maybe it did. Tenya didn't know anything! Kit had been reading the article on Tenya's phone? How had Tenya not noticed? Wait a moment, did that mean Kit liked him too? He'd called the article enlightening. Not to mention the whole like... kissing... holy shit Tenya was going to absolutely die.
"Tenya, oi." Kit snapped his fingers in the boy's face, earning his attention there. The flushed boy made an undignified sound, bringing his hands up to cover his face. For the record, Kit didn't bring his hand up to massage his temples in an attempt to make his growing headache go away. Instead he gave a lopsided smile, because Tenya was absolutely ridiculous. "Come on, it's just kissing. Let's just do it again. You'll get used to it."
"K-Kit." Tenya sputtered, eyes wide. Was he dreaming? It didn't seem like any of the dreams he'd ever had. In most of those, Kit didn't have a shirt. Or Tenya didn't have a shirt. Or neither of them did. There was also this one where neither of them had on anything, but that was because it was taking place in the shower. That one still made Tenya's entire body so hot he was sure his organs were cooking in his body, and his brain, steaming in his skull. Kit didn't look amused.
"Calm down, calm down. It's okay, Tenya. Shit's all good." Kit soothed in a very Kit-like way. "We just kissed."
"We just kissed." Tenya echoed, his voice quiet. Kit nodded slowly, folding his arms over his chest and leaning back to watch as Tenya processed quietly. It had hit him, but it also hadn't. It was a pretty amusing sight to behold. Tenya looked like a five year old trying to count on their fingers, staring down at his hands with furrowed brows. Kit watched his blue eyes dart to Kit's waist, and then back to his hands again, and then to Kit's face. The tan boy wondered if taking a picture would be rude. He'd need to use Tenya's phone for it, but pick-pocketing wasn't hard.
"Holy shit." Tenya breathed. "We just kissed."
"First of all, you kiss your mother with that mouth?" Tenya gave him a bland look. "I'm a hypocrite and proud. And yes, we kissed! Did I miss something. Were you just reading that article for shits and giggles?" Kit squinted at him. He wasn't that great at reading people's feelings in general. He could generally tell people's intentions. It was a gut feeling sort of, telling whether someone was going to harm him or not. Maybe he'd been stabbed so many times it was just implanted in him. It didn't matter. He was pretty sure Tenya had been interested, but maybe not?
"N-No, of course not! I was gathering information to try and... to..." Tenya trailed off with a red face before very vaguely gesturing between himself and Kit. The brunette sighed heavily, bringing his hands up to cover his face out of exasperation. "Did you... Are you saying you perhaps feel... the same way?"
Kit's hands dropped, and he gave Tenya the absolute driest look he could possibly muster up. "No shit, Sherlock! We just made out for like, an entire minute! And it was hot as all hell." Kit made some elaborate hand motions to convey his point, and Tenya winced. Yeah, it was sort of obvious. But if Kit did feel the same way, then that meant...
"Y-You feel the same way?!" Tenya all but shrieked. Kit groaned.
"What part of 'no shit, Sherlock' don't you understand?" Kit grabbed Tenya's forearms, gazing up at him. "This isn't supposed to be this complicated, you know."
Tenya took a deep breath. Right. That's right. It was simple, actually. He liked Kit, Kit (somehow) liked him too. And when two people liked each other like that, they got together. And when they were together, they did things like kiss. It was all normal. Tenya wanted to kiss Kit, Kit wanted to kiss Tenya, it was all good all around. Very nice and just like, super simple, and it really wasn't a big deal or anything.
"You look ready to hyperventilate, so we're going to," Kit patted his arms, "put this conversation on hold for the moment because my aunt has been staring at us for the past three minutes."
"Ah, that makes sense. Excellent idea." Tenya agreed with a relieved sigh. Kit liked him back, and that just... his mind was blown. The last thing he'd expected coming here today was a confession of any kind. That hadn't exactly been the type he'd have expected. Most confessions Tenya saw involved one party asking to see the other during a free period or after school, and then shyly admitting how they fe- wait, aunt?
Tenya's gaze snapped to the woman smirking at them in an entertained sort of way. His face immediately flushed red as he stepped away from the shorter boy, hands twitching anxiously as he glanced at the brunette. Kit was grinning at him, head cocked in a way that made Tenya want to kiss him all over again. The woman stood with a hand on her hip, a pair of familiar red eyes gazing at them slyly. They were like Kit's, but Kit's were wider. Rounder, he supposed he should say.
"Hey, Aunt Mitsuki." Kit gave a two finger salute. "Your batshit crazy sister tried to kill me again."
Mitsuki's smirk dropped in an instant. "The bitch has done this before? Why the hell didn't you call me, brat?" She bit out, eyes narrowing. Tenya found himself surprised at her vulgar language. He supposed Kit had to get it from somewhere. He just didn't expect to be hit with such a wave of familiarity upon hearing his aunt's sharp way of speaking. It was a bit uncanny, but comical nonetheless.
"Good question." Kit didn't give a real answer, and Mitsuki scoffed, eyes sliding over to Tenya. He tensed.
"H-Hello, ma'am." Tenya felt very self-conscious all of a sudden. "My name is Tenya Iida. Kit is my-"
"Boyfriend." Kit cut off, shooting a wink to the taller teen as his eyes widened. "Let's go inside so you can rip custody out of my mother's hands."
Mitsuki grinned devilishly, and Tenya saw the similarities between her and Kit through his shock. Boyfriend? Was that what they were? Wait, was there a space between the boy and the friend, or had he meant them to be conjoined. Because they were technically boys who were friends. But to say boy and then friend as though they were a singular word-- boyfriend-- implied they were in a relationship. Considering the fact that they'd just kissed...
Tenya didn't even notice Kit dragging him back into the police precinct as his mind whirled. Kit found it downright hilarious. Tensei also had to stifle a laugh. Tenya looked like he was trying to crack the Da Vinci code, his hand cradling his chin as he gazed down at the tile floor with terrifying intent. Mitsuki only raised an eyebrow at Kit, as though asking why he'd picked Tenya of all people. Kit only shrugged. He didn't feel like reciting an entire list right now.
To say Mitsuki Bakugo was upset with her sister was the understatement of the year. Anger did run in their family. Mitsuki had a fair amount of it herself, and her son had earned it the same. The kid had a powerful quirk that was hard to keep under control. When he got too pissed off, the detonated, and Mitsuki and Masaru had both learned how to deal with that. Sure, Mitsuki was harsh on Katsuki. Sometimes she'd whack him over the head for being an idiot, but not enough to really hurt for more than a second, and she would never leave marks on her kid. Katsuki was her pride and joy, and she adored Kit just as much. To know what Aika had been up to...
"I have a brat at home and a spare room. It'll be fine." Mitsuki told the officer. "He comes over every Christmas and Thanksgiving." Mitsuki turned around, waving to get Kit's attention. "Oi, brat! Tell the officer you're fine with living with me!"
"Aunt Mitsuki, living with you would be an honor!" Kit called back with a grin. She mirrored it, turning back to the officer in an excited sort of way. She really did love having Kit around. He was brash and got pissed, and could stand on his own even without a quirk, but he was also polite. He didn't call her a hag.
"I love that kid. Nicer than my brat at home, anyway." Mitsuki waved a hand and sighed some papers with practiced ease. She'd been out of the modeling industry for a while, but paperwork was still no mystery to her. Besides, if her sister was really being arrested, that meant the company had just fallen onto Kit's shoulders. And Kit was going to need help with that. Hell, he may not even want it.
Kit peered down at Tenya's phone, which he'd stolen from the dazed boy. Tensei was peeking over his shoulder as they cruised through articles. Tenya thrived off reading material. Rather than figuring things out himself or having someone tell him, he worked better with books, or in this case, what could qualify as an essay. If you pushed it. He seemed to drift towards lists more than not, so they looked at those more.
"This one seems good." Kit said. Tensei nodded in agreement. Shrugging, the brunette shoved the phone back towards its owner. Tenya took it without hesitation, though it seemed like it was more of a reflex. They watched his eyes flicker down to the page they'd pulled up. Clearing his throat, Tenya pushed his glasses further up his nose and began to read.
"Ten steps to cultivating a healthy relationship"
1.) First make sure you've formed a good friendship with them! Friends first, lovers later. It's important you know who you are with or want to be with. You can't bring a prospering love to life without a friendship in place first! Get to know them, maybe hang out casually at first. This is the foundation of any good relationship, so make sure it's steady and don't half-ass it!
Tenya felt himself smile. He supposed he was a bit ahead of the curve then, wasn't he?
