The Guild of Hawks
Description
The turbulent HawkGuild cats tend to be impulsive and opinionated. You wouldn't want to meet one in battle—they fight as ferociously as rabid coyotes.
• Wild
• Fierce
• Unpredictable
HawkGuild cats are slender and agile, and are known to be fearsome fighters. They seem aggressive and unruly to other Guilds, but are, in fact, kind and compassionate toward each other.
In social situations they are guarded and cautious, reading the energy and body language of the cats around them, prepared to attack or flee at any moment.
Some may call them straight-laced—they follow the Codex carefully.
They value nestmothers highly, and treat them respectfully and well. They believe that one of the greatest honors in life is to be a mother, to bring forth and nurture new life, to continue their legacy.
HawkGuild cats are extremely possessive of kits, and they only become newpaws at over seven months of age. During the time over five months, when a kit from another Guild would be settling into its rank of newpaw, HawkGuild kits are allowed free run of camp, and can do in-camp newpaw duties, such as working with the leafkeeper or tending the taleweavers. This is a good time for them to decide which newpawship they would like, be it warden or leafkeeper.
Their caution with kits is due to the more dangerous nature of their territory, with the steep slopes and rocky ledges, and the frequency with which snakebite fatalities occur.
Territory
Their territory lies on the steep, rocky slopes of a low mountain peak. The landscape is thickly forested, and can be dangerous to navigate with numerous dropoffs, coves, and hidden slopes.
The HawkGuild camp is made in front of a huge, overhanging cliff. The keeper speaks from a ledge up the side of it, as it serves as a sort of auditorium, making their voice easily heard due to the echoes.
The territory is bordered by a highway on the north, the border between them and WolfGuild. On the east their border ends at the Cornfields.
On the west their border meets that of FoxGuild's, and on the south, FishGuild's.
Their prey comprises mostly of lizards, snakes, and squirrels.
Notable places in the territory are the Steepstones, the Eagle-claw Hemlock, the Parking Lot and Blackwater Trailhead, and the Blackwater Trail.
