I smiled as I laid with my head on Dad's lap, his fingers gently pulling through my hair.
"Are you still tired?" He asked, not looking down at me. Instead his gaze was fixed on Nico and Bracken. Bracken was giving Nico a once over, and pulled out a horn. He placed the tip of it in a glass of water before pressing it into Nico's hands.
"Drink."
I glanced over at them, only to see Nico glare at Bracken.
"Why should I trust you?"
I groaned. "Nico, he's a dam unicorn. His horn can purify water, and since he's actually descended from the gods and not the weird unicorns the Romans have, the horn itself can create unicorn draught."
See look. I did pay attention to some stuff for once.
And also, why are the unicorn horns made out of metal at Camp Jupiter? I mean the unicorn that are descended from my dad have the standard pearly white horn, and I'm pretty sure they would have bred with the other ones at some point...
If my dad didn't have kids with them himself that is. I shuddered and Dad shifted me.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Just had a really weird thought." I waved off his concern.
He hummed in acceptance before moving me into a sitting position and turning me so I could watch the others.
"So how did you get here?" Grandpa asked.
Nico stared at me with wide eyes and I sighed.
"Death Breath, I literally just said he was a unicorn. I told them about the gods and my dad is literally sitting right here. I think it's safe to assume that they know about the gods." I leaned back against Dad.
"Excuse me for not wanting to be stuck doing my dad's work for all of eternity." He rolled his eyes. "I shadowtravelled here."
"Shadow traveled? So you're like a shadowcharmer then?" Kendra asked.
"I'm not some knock off. I'm a son of Hades, the Ghost King."
"Meaning he only gets along with dead people." I smirked.
"You only get along with fish."
"Um no, Bessie is an Ophiotaurus okay? He's a serpent bull. Not a fish." Crossing my arms, I stuck my tongue out at him.
"You're such a two year old." Nico mumbled.
"And you're an old fuddy duddy. Your point is?"
"I'm not that old!"
"You're like eighty something!"
"What?" Seth interrupted our conversation. "How is he eighty? He's younger than you."
I sighed. "Technically yes. But he was born in Italy during World War Two and then his mom brought him and his sister over here and then our uncle tried to kill them. His dad managed to protect him and his sister, their mom died and then their memories got wiped and they got shoved in a magical hotel."
At the end of that, Nico was staring at me.
"How do you know that? I've never told anyone that." He growled.
"Demigod dream." I mumbled, not reacting as Dad tightened his grip on me. "Saw you when you tried to talk to your mom."
"Oh..." Nico looked away. A small smile appeared on his face as Seth started asking him question after question. A lot of them were about what his powers were like versus a shadowcharmers powers.
A small wave of fear washed over me, but I shook it off. The same couldn't be said for the others.
"Nico, stop."
"Sorry Uncle." Nico's smile widened as he looked up at Dad.
"I thought my emotions couldn't be manipulated." Seth mumbled.
Nico laughed. "The fear I put off isn't a manipulation. It's just your innate fear of me bubbling to the surface. It's a natural response."
I didn't really listen to the rest of their conversation, instead shifting in Dad's grip so I could rest my head on his chest.
"You okay?"
"Tired."
Dad hummed and patted my back. "Take a nap."
"Poseidon no. If she takes a nap, she won't sleep later." Mom said.
"I doubt she'll sleep anyway." Paul commented. "She woke up a lot last night, even before she went out."
"I'll take her to my place tonight. She won't be able to sneak out. If I have to I'll assign a guard to her." Dad said.
"Poseidon that isn't necessary."
I knew this was going to be bad when the others left the room.
"I feel like it is Sally. If our daughter can't sleep here, I think we should at least try my place."
"And what will your brother do if he finds out that Percy stayed with you? Besides, it would be better for her to be with the parent she knows she can trust."
"So you're saying that she doesn't trust me?"
"I'm just saying that she's lived with me her entire life. I raised her and did the best I could to take care of her and keep her safe. It makes sense for her to trust me more than you."
Dad's arms tightened around me and my hands gripped his shirt. I pressed my face into his chest, trying to stay calm.
My breathing was speeding up as my parents argued and tears started falling down my cheeks. Dad didn't seem to notice.
"Dad..." I whimpered, trying to get his attention.
But he was still arguing with Mom.
"She actually trusted me enough to tell me how she was feeling!"
"And didn't she also explain the reasons why-"
"Stop it!" I sobbed. "Just stop it! Stop arguing. This is why I regret saying anything! So just stop it!"
Okay
So, I'm not grounded
Yay!
The schedule for next month is posted in my schedule book
The books that are new were posted yesterday and are
Quiet Waters
The Odoyan Chronicles
And...I have to get a physical tomorrow and then go to graduation on Sunday...(hopefully my mom forgets cause I don't really want to go. I have friends in that class but I'll probably cry cause I'll miss them)
We actually gave our English teacher a present and I was writing a letter in this notebook we were giving her and one of the girls goes to stall and was like
Don't go in there
And of course our teacher got concerned, cause she's basically our mom
And the fact one of the kids in my class ingested a chemical once and ended up throwing up doesn't help
Same kid looked at a girl and pretty much yelled
Hannah give me back my Juul, jue was just being stupid
And then...
She came in, she saw her present and opened it to see the picture frame we all signed.
And she asked if we wrote in the notebook and we said yeah
And she said she wasn't going to read them right away because she'd cry
And then she gave us all words of wisdom
Mine was to not read as much because life isn't happening in book
I think I'll probably cry today so...
See yah
