The green-haired girl stood in front of the porcelain-coloured door, her hand kept retracting from the door. She bit down her bottom lip, hesitating her action to give the door a knock. Uncertainty filled in her viridian irises. She was wondering if it this was a good choice.
... I really want to meet Senpai. I can't leave until I see him with my own eyes...
Squeezing her eyelids shut, the young heroine nervously knocked on the door three times. "It is Midoriya. Excuse me..." She informed the resident of the room inside, before turning the door knob to enter.
Izuku was greeted with an unexpected sight of her upperclassman looking all energetic, swaying his legs in the air. She gasped in total shock and cluelessness, as Mirio greeted her earnestly.
"Morning, Midoriya! Nice to see you again!"
The goldenette tugged a wide smile for his lowerclassman, while he kept rotating his legs in the air for unknown reason.
"It looks like I'm the only one stuck here another day so they can monitor me! Even though I'm this energtic! Daaaaang it!"
He laughed his heart out, as if yesterday's event didn't happen in his life; in front of his eyes.
Izuku was confused- but more, she was heartbroken to see Mirio like this. Even though she wasn't the one who had to go through all the pains, she still felt hurt deep inside. Somehow, she could sense how he felt.
And it shattered her fragile heart.
"Senpai..."
The female greenette spoke up in sadness, approaching the older male slowly. She clenched her shaking fist close to her chest, lips quivering noticeably while she tried to hold back her tears.
Hearing her croaky voice, Mirio stopped his unusual action. His facial expression turned serious, the smile on his face disappeared for a second.
"I know... I have lost my Quirk, and my mentor has passed away. I should not be in a laughing state of mind...."
Mirio stated seriously, his face darkened as he recalled the past event. The moment he lost his Quirk, the time he protected Eri from Chisaki... And the inevitable fate he had to face with heavy heart, accepted the bitter truth with tears and sobbings.
Izuku stared at him with glimmering, almost teary eyes. She looked down to the white floor, gritting her teeth frustratedly.
"But that is why..."
He suddenly spoke up caused Izuku to slightly shiver, snapping her back into reality.
Mirio sat up himself in his hospital bed. The boy turned his head to his junior, a wide perfect smile decorating his face. Feeling his gaze on her, she hesitantly lifted her head up back.
She swore, she heard her heart skipped a beat upon meeting his gaze. His sea blue eyes were beautiful, filled with hope and pure happiness. He looked like an angel sent down to Earth from Heaven.
"Nighteye wasn't really that way with you, but when he was with me, he actually smiled a lot."
Mirio explained the reason behind his unusual action earlier. Nighteye's very last words echoed in his mind. He realized. He was pain inside. He knew. He was hurting so badly that he felt like shedding more tears.
But Nighteye's reminder - telling him to stay smiling - became the source of his strength.
"That is why I'm not going to cry. Because I'm going to be a fine hero someday!"
The determined young man exclaimed loudly, his voice erupted through the entire room.
"I mean, if I look gloomy, then Eri-chan will probably also feel bad. So I will keep smiling! For her sake!"
Mirio pumped up his fist, punching the air energetically. Izuku was speechless at his words, nothing she could think of to reply to him. Her lips and fists were still trembling.
Don't cry right now! He has accepted his fate so just move on with it! Ugh, why girls are so emotional? Why can't I stay strong? Why can't I stop myself from crying like Senpai? Why can't I bear this pain? Why did I feel so hurt when I saw his tears? It felt like my heart was pierced with a knife... I... I can't hold it back anymore...
"Midoriya? Are you okay?"
Mirio tilted his head, worry growing within him. Her heavy silence was starting to concern the boy, realizing that something was wrong with her.
Before Mirio could speak up again, Izuku surged forward and hugged him tightly, with her violently trembling arms. Her body was shaking, and Mirio could feel it.
Shocked, his baby blue eyes flew open. He hissed in pain when she squeezed his slightly aching body.
"S-sorry..."
Izuku apologized to him in such a sad voice that pained his heart. "Midoriya..." He murmured, gently hugging her small body back. His big hands rested on her slim back, making small circles for comfort her.
Soft sobbings echoed in the room. Her shaking got worse as time passed, to the point she had to clutch on Mirio to support herself. She gripped the back of his shirt, while she cried her heart out in the arms of the heroic boy.
"I-I'm sorry... For not being able to smile.... I-it is just... It pain me to see you like this... Senpai... I-I still can't get over the sadness from yesterday... I don't know how to release these pent-up feelings...and now I end up crying on you..."
Hearing her heart-breaking words, Mirio resulted to silence. His eyebrows furrowed in sadness. He tightened the hug to give her emotional support.
Well, it is only normal for her to feel that way... She is a girl after all...
"Midoriya, I understand your feelings very well. So it's okay if you want to cry."
He whispered softly, causing her to cry louder in his gentle embrace.
It is okay. Cry your heart out. Because after this, I will surely make you smile.
Tamaki backed away from the door slowly, feeling shocked to see the unexpected view of his best friend hugging the green-haired girl.
"... I shouldn't bother them." He told himself, a peaceful smile spread on his face.
There is always a blessing in disguise... Fate presented to Mirio the right girl to make him happy.
