"Lali – wait up!" Lisa turns and found Jisoo and Chaeyoung running towards her.
"I thought you weren't done with classes –" She said.
"We finished early and waited for you at the cafeteria. Then Jennie called cus she can't pick out a book at the library –" Chaeyoung rolls her eyes.
"Aww...I kept telling her to wear wedges when she has to go to the library -" She laughed, imagining how Jennie would slap her if she hears this.
"She has a pop-quiz tomorrow so she said she can't hang with us today. But Kai is on his way to accompany her –"
"And speaking of which, we can't as well. We have to run by next week's articles with Professor Hwang. He just called us in,"
"That's okay. Tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow! Don't have cakes without us!" Jisoo points an accusatory finger towards her.
"Unnie, I would never!" Lisa gasped scandalously before laughing at the two.
"And don't go stalking Sehun with all the free time you have!" Chaeyoung hissed loudly, earning a frustrating pout from her. The girl ignored it and walks off.
How could she shout like that - people might hear!!
She looks around and sighed in relief when she found no one close enough in her range. She wasn't thinking of it, but that's actually an idea!
I mean...I do have 2 hours to kill before my shift starts...and I was thinking of having an iced latte...so maybe I could just drop by, specifically at Bubble Bee Cafe...even if their latte tastes a bit like clay...
She could never step foot in that cafe if she were with her girl friends. They've banned the place since they found out how Sehun had suddenly ghosted on her after only 2 weeks of dating. Or maybe they banned it because they knew how Lisa would drool over the guy again and again -
How could she not? He's so dreamy to look at...
But no, she shouldn't! She sent those long-ass texts only to receive nothing back. She even tried justifying his actions at first, thinking that he's probably facing some sort of problem that he knew she wouldn't be able to comprehend - that's why he needed some time off. Maybe someone in his family was sick...or maybe he was sick? Maybe he just found out that he has a terminal disease and he didn't know how to tell her that he's dying?
Anyway, that was before she saw how alive and well he was - sitting by the window of the cafe like the proud owner that he is, smiling and laughing with a pretty girl with long wavy hair and tight, little top and her short, little skirt. I mean...she wasn't that pretty if Lisa were to be honest with herself, but it bruised her ego nevertheless.
She'd been crushing on him for the longest time. How much money had she spent on those lattes that tasted like modelling clays and how much efforts she had pulled through to get him to notice her in all those visits? She was over the moon when he finally did and asked her out! He was such a gentleman throughout the month and a half - including the 2 weeks they were dating - that she couldn't ever expect him to change his mind so quickly.
It must've been her then...there must be something wrong with her!
The thought is depressing. Maybe I shouldn't go stalk him today...
"Lisa!"
Lisa stopped her tracks abruptly at the loud call as Bambam appears by his side. "Oh, hey Bammie!"
"My mom sent me this. Asked me to pass it to you," He hands over a blue paper bag.
Lisa peeks inside and saw a knitted something. "She made these? I was only joking – did she actually made it?!"
"You know you shouldn't joke like that to my mom. She fucking adores you – of course she'll take it seriously!"
"Who doesn't adore me?" She laughs while Bambam rolled his eyes, regretting his earlier remark. "Aww...I'll call her later to say thanks. This is awesome – I'll have a new jumper for winter!" She chuckled. "How's the dinner with Mina?"
"Okay, I think! I mean...dad was fine. Mom was...well, you know,"
"She'll come around. Is Mina okay though? Did you tell her so she won't take it too hard?"
"Yeah, I did. She knows. I kinda feel bad though,"
"Me too...let's just hope it works out fine okay?" She gave him an encouraging smile.
They've been friends since they were little - it's so hard to watch him struggling through like this. Bambam's mother had such high hopes that they would somehow end up together and the moment the guy mentioned Mina being his girlfriend, his mom had been a bit distant towards him.
Lisa herself had called and explained, and although his mom sounded fine by the end of their talk, she's still quite worried that the elder would not accept Mina in their lives. It's frustrating because Mina's such a sweet girl, and had been so understanding of Lisa and Bambam's friendship all this while –
"Hey, do you know that guy? He's been staring at you,"
Lisa turns to the direction mentioned and locks eyes with the stranger. Only it's not just any stranger. It's they guy from last week.
...
What is he doing in the university compound? Is he a student here too? He didn't say he studied here too last week...or did he? Lisa makes her way cautiously towards the guy waiting at the side of the street, sitting on his superbike and looking oh-so-casually dashing. The closer she gets, the more intimidated she felt. He didn't seem to be this good-looking that night –
"Hi," His small smile appeared underneath a tensed jawline. He seems upset...or maybe that's just the way he talks.
"Hello," Lisa fixed a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Remember me?"
"Of course," She laughs a little. "How's your um..." She tip-toe a little to look on his eyebrow and cheek. He rubbed and fixed the hair covering it.
"It's fine...all healed,"
She muttered an 'aah' and nodded down to the ground. Silence...awkward... Lisa's not sure why she feels shy all of a sudden. She didn't feel this way that night – maybe because of the blood running down his face and neck -
"You done for the day?"
"Hm?" She looks back up.
"Your class..."
"Oh...yeah...I was just about to head home. Sorry, what um...what are you doing here?"
"I was in the area. Thought I'd drop by and find you. I didn't get to properly say thanks for helping me last week,"
There's something in the way his words sounded behind that smirk. And the way he stares at her. His eyes are twinkling, like they hold a meaning that only he knows.
"Ahh...it's okay, you don't have to go through the trouble!" She tries shaking off the unfamiliar vibe she's feeling through, motioning her hands around and taking a step back.
"Do you have dinner plans later?"
"I um..." Lisa's not a good liar. All her friends knew that. And she hates lying as well. But she felt like she has to...in this case, she has to. "I do actually – I um...I cooked,"
He got off the bike and took a step nearer to her. Why is he - was he this tall before? A vanilla scent fills her surrounding as he stops a feet away from her. Too close...too damn close...
"You cooked dinner before you left your house?"
"Y-yeah...my – my cats...they don't like to eat alone s – so I cooked before I left...they'd know I'll come back –" Damn it – she's so bad at this!!
When he didn't say anything, she braves herself to look up to him. Okay...he's smiling. He looks better like this. Less intimidating.
Wait a minute – I practically saved his life! Why am I acting like this? He was in the area and he wanted to say thanks, why am I overthinking it??
"I have some time for coffee...if you wanna treat me – as a way to thank me,"
He hangs his head up and takes a deep breath – why, Lisa's not sure – but nods while putting both hands in the pocket of his black jacket.
