Food

Food is a difficult topic for some people, so if it makes you anxious to think about, consider skipping this chapter or the first few paragraphs.

I love food. I love junk food of all sorts - especially when it's packed with carbs. I'm talking pasta, pizza, pancakes, toast, chips, quesadillas, paninis - however, not sweets. I don't like cake, fudge, cookies, Nutella, candy, or anything else sugary. People around me tell me that my anti-sweet-tooth gene is a gift, but they haven't seen the amount of cheese I consume on a daily basis.
I'm not a very healthy eater.
My relationship with food, however, hasn't suffered. I've recently considered becoming pescatarian, and have already changed my eating habits bit by bit for the better. I'm still unhealthy, but I'm taking small steps forward to bettering myself.
Not everyone has it this easy, which is what I'm here to talk about.
I'm not a dietitian, or a doctor of any sort, but I do know that your food and eating habits don't define you.
If you under-eat, that doesn't make you desperate for attention.
If you over-eat, that doesn't make you gross or lazy.
If you do your best to eat normally and still have food or body issues, that doesn't make you a failure.
You deserve to enjoy food.
Let me say that again:
You deserve to enjoy food.
Let that bounce around in your head for a bit, because it should.
Eating healthfully shouldn't be a burden. Finding medical help should definitely, under no circumstances, be ignored as an option.
Food is a luxury - so find a doctor that can help you put food in your body that keeps you healthy physically AND mentally. Even if it takes a while for your body to adjust, or for you to enjoy what you're eating, that fact that you're taking the right steps forward is an amazing achievement.
You are worth helping, and you are worth feeding. Food isn't poison, nor should it be your only source of comfort or be just a boring chore.
